Excellent pizza fix if you need one. Sapienza is in the downtown Albany sports venue area. There are many tables and window bar seats to sit at and enjoy the view. I ordered spaghetti and meatballs from this restaurant via Uber Eats. Never again. It's hard to ruin spaghetti but this place did it. I think it was just pre-made and frozen too long. If that's not what they did, then it was just old and from the bottom of the pot to begin with. I haven't had pizza in a while cause well, trying to lose some lbs. Sometimes you just have to and so I did. do not regret it for a second. Oh my the pizza is everything I was hoping for, crust was perfect, fresh mozzarella, tomato was perfect. I went all in with garlic knots and they brought a tear to my eye. I ordered multiple pizzas for delivery yesterday for an office party. The manager, Chuck, was super helpful in recommending how much I might need and also with placing the order. He even handled the delivery himself and was so very nice! Delivery was right on time. Everyone in the office raved about the pizza. It was delicious! Best pizza spot in Downtown Albany, hands down. Sapienza's is a favorite for my coworkers and I. Right down the street and delicious. There are a variety (at least 6-7 on any given day) of different slices to choose from and the slices are huge. Staff are always nice and have been the same group of guys for at least the past 5-6 years I've been going. Always a smiling face and very polite. There are other options as well: hot and cold subs/sandwiches, calzones, stromboli, wings, salads, Italian meals and so on. This is absolutely a place to try if in Downtown Albany! read more

I stop by this joint all the time on my way to work. The slices are big as hell, the crust is arguably the best you're gonna get downtown, and these guys don't gyp you around on the toppings. A slice of meat lover's is around 3 bucks and it's so full of bacon, sausage and ham that you have to eat it over your paper plate or that shit's going in your lap - even if you fold it properly. I can destroy one but it's damn hard to finish two. Six or seven dollars will get you full and in a hurry. Service is fast even when the place has state workers lined up to the door, and I'll also drop a personal anecdote here: I went to pay the man for a slice and a soda, discovered I was a dollar short of what I thought I had in my pocket... I was gonna put the soda back and he just told me to keep it. I came back the next day and bought the same thing, but I gave them back an extra 5. What goes around comes around, friends. All that aside, you'd be hard pressed to find a better slice downtown. I haven't bothered trying, because when I'm on State and Pearl waiting for a bus that'll actually let a cat in (I have a pass, you jerks. When I jump up on the toll post, it's because I have to swipe my navigator!) I always stop by Sapienza when I feel the need for some hot, greasy pizza. And if you're really posting negative reviews because it's greasy, all I can do is laugh at you. That's the whole damn point. It's a small hole in the wall pizza joint by the Times Union Center. Nothing flashy here, food is well, food. Good selection, not much that isn't somewhere else. I come here mainly before going to a game or concert at the Times Union Center. Pizza slice sizes are bigger than most places, frequently having specials on various kinds are a draw. A slice of veggie pizza here has frequently overflowed with toppings. The mushroom slices are also good. It can get real crowded here so if you have more than one person and all are paying at the same time, have the extra snag a table. While this isn't my favorite pizza joint in the area, it does the job before a game or event at the Times Union Center, that is to say that it has cheap food, cheap price. We stumbled across this pizza place and it was a hit. 2 huge, really yummy slices for less then $5- speciality toppings too! Clean, kid- friendly and good crisp to a really yummy NY slice. Was excited for some good New York pizza. I was very disappointed. The slice that I ordered wasn't worth finishing. I always finish my pizza. I came in Jan. 2015. It was freezing cold outside and the had flies flying around and landing on the pizza. I have never seen flies in the winter before. Pizza is really heavy on the dough and grease, but it still has that authentic pizza taste. Those complaining about prices must not know that any average pizza joint around here charges the same prices per slice, for worse pizza. Praise be to Sapienza! It was a few months ago that I went here with my BF before a concert at Times Union Center. We weren't expecting much because pizzarias in these parts are a "dime a dozen", right? WRONG! Sapienza has stood out in both our minds as one of the BEST little pizza places we've been to. I got a slice of cheese with mushrooms, and my bf got just plain ol' cheese. They were delicious! What makes them fantastic in our humble opinions is the crust. It's crispier than most places. We're actually having a "Vote for the best pizza" party at our place this weekend and my BF is going to swing by Sapienzas to pick up a cheese pizza. (I, myself, like the buffalo chicken wing pizza from Arios in Latham more so that's where I'll be getting mine). Now remember, we've only been here once. But it was amazing enough that we remember it months later. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because it's way out in East Egypt with on street parking which for me is inconvienent. Pretty over priced and consisting mainly of dough, it'll fill you up with one or two slices and leave you feeling like you had instead gone to Maurices Delicatessen 20 yards up the road for a sandwich or salad. Oh, Albany. My home town. Pizza, pizza everywhere. On my most recent visit I was disappointed by my usual pie haunts. Dare I mention the mighty Fountain which I believe has changed hands ( again ) and now makes a pizza which is raw in the middle. And Lou-bea's which makes a great pie, but needs to back off of the garlic powder on the crust. Pizza Sapienza downtown in The Times Union Center building is my new fav. The crust is airy in the middle like it should be. The cheese is perfect and the slice is huge. I might send a shout out to my fellow Yelper from Brooklyn who dises Upstate pizza. On my last trip to NYC I had more bad slices than I get here in So Cal. The New York Pizza myth is just that. They can keep the 50 Ray's Original. They'll all pretty bad. Been ordering from here for years and years. Usually, I get a couple of toppings, but my last pizza was plain cheese. OMG! It was the most boring pizza I've ever tasted. The crust tasted like dried bread, and there wasn't very much in the way of sauce or cheese. I would have been better off getting some italian bread and throwing some sauce and cheese on that. I am visiting in Albany for the night and the girl on the phone was absolutely so rude to me. I called to order slices of pizza and asked what the card and delivery minimum was. I was told that the delivery minimum was $10, and even though my slices were over $10 they refused to deliver.
