Unprofessional Service! I have been ordering pizza from Serios's for years, I'm their perfect customer, as I just order over the phone or order online, go in and pick my food up. No table to set or clean! But about 3 weeks about my daughter called in an order, and I picked it up, and bartender messed up my name, and I corrected him. Then I ordered online recently where my name was handwritten correctly on the pizza box, but the SMART - A$$ bartender called me by another name (as a disrespectful joke), even though he know my name. He did it on purpose as he smirked and laughed about his own stupid joke, I found his behavior completely unprofessional. Not sure whom the owner is of Serio's but for sure I would not tolerate some SMART - A$$ - DISRESPECTFUL employee to smear my company name! read more

We had a party of 10 on a Saturday night. We were in town from Minneapolis celebrating our daughter and nieces graduation. The place was packed!! We had a bit of a wait for a table, but it was definitely worth it. The staff was very attentive and the food was excellent. We had several different pizzas, salads and appetizers. Well, it took me longer than I had hoped for to finally try this new pizza joint two blocks away from me. When I finally was able to get the bf to go with me (his idea, of course :) ) I needed alcohol desperately to try and forget the nasty kayaking accident I was in earlier in the day, so I gave him carte blanche to order whatever he wanted while I chugged as many glasses of wine as possible. We ended up getting the Big Cheese, which was a blend of four of five different cheeses - normally this is my favorite kind of pizza to get when checking out a new place because it gives me a chance to really taste the crust, sauce and general flavor of the pizza. It was alright. The sauce was fine, but I hate sauce that has chunks, or even worse, little slivers of tomato. The crust was really the best part. I almost didn't even want to write a review, because for the most part the pizza didn't really have a taste besides cheese-grease and crust - kind of like La Gondola. Everyone said it was really good, but I couldn't really TASTE anything when I had it, so I couldn't write a review. And, like La Gondola, I had to pile on gobs of salt, red pepper and parm just to feel like I wasn't inhaling calories just for the hell of it. I'll probably go back again though. The decor was really very nice, they had a good wine selection and they played music that was actually very pleasant, unlike neighboring Waterhouse and Pony Inn where I can't even hear myself talk without screaming over the latest jam from 103.5. They really need to expand their appetizer selection, they only have two options and both are cop-outs made with ingredients they have readily available - pizza crust and cheese. Love the pizza here. One of the city's best wood fired. Great crust and a lovely sauce that's not too overpowering. The ingredients are the star here as is the beer selection. Very family friendly, every table before 9pm has at least one kid under the age of 5- which as a mom of two kiddos, I love! Not a lot of selections when it comes to the food menu. The alcoholic beverage menu was much more elaborate. However, pizza was excellent and executed perfectly. My mother, daughter and myself happen to be the ONLY African American people in the entire restaurant and because of that we received subpar service. None of us ever received a refill on any drinks not once. My mother even asked for a drink but never received it. Our waitress Kellum S. never came to table to check on us during our entire meal. Once I tasted the pizza I had decided that I wanted order a pizza Togo but since we were treated as non-factors I decided not give them anymore of my service and the tip was a written tip for future service to African American customers. My girlfriend plays pool league at Cork Lounge, and a group of us ordered pizza. It took an hour and a half outside the estimated delivery time. When the delivery guy came two hours after we ordered, and we asked him why, he said he had too many deliveries. By this point we have called the restaurant and they told us that they would comp the meal. I gave the delivery guy a tip and hence the 2 star review: He threw it at me and left! My friends and I only wanted to be understanding and civil, but after this unpleasant experience, none of us will order from you again. read more

Pizzeria Serio has great thin crust pizza, some of the best in Chicago! When you're looking for basic, great traditional thin crust pizza, this is the place to find it. You're not going to get wowed with exotic fancy toppings (although there are plenty of options), rather you get simple authentic and great tasting pizza. They staff is always friendly and the atmosphere is low key... you always feel like you're free to enjoy your meal at your own pace. (Unlike other popular pizza joints in Chicago). Not to mention, the prices are reasonable! While you're not going to get "traditional" Chicago style pizza, it's a nice change of pace from the cookie cutter pizzeria's around town. The fact that it's baked in a real brick oven lends it distinct a flavor that's hard to find in these parts. They've got good beer selections both on tap and in bottle and some worthwhile food/beverage specials each day of the week. It's definately worth a stop to judge by yourself. I don't know much about this place. I came in with a Gilt City deal which I purchased based on all of the positive reviews about the food and service. After being there I wonder if this is one of those places that's owned by someone who's always wanted to have a restaurant but has never worked in the industry. Or maybe Kitchen Nightmares has ruined me forever. Its spacious and friendly inside. Very clean. Our deal was for 1 app, 1 salad, 1 pizza and 1 dessert with a glass of wine or beer. We both got the red wine. I only had a few sips which is really telling if you know how I feel about wine and "leaving a soldier behind" We asked for waters which seems common now so no ding on that but they were never refilled. We got the caprese salad first. It was good but, you know, easy. Then we got the goat cheese marinara because I read in Time Out Chicago that goat cheese is making a comeback. The sauce in it was like canned. I dunno it wasn't special and not good. The only thing on the table was dried chilis so I couldn't add S&P or oregano. No doctoring possible. I liked the bread crusts that you get to dip. Unfortunately I was feeling saucy so we got the cheese pizza to avoid the white pizza options. So more of this not good sauce. The crust is good. And like I said, no seasonings on the table to help out, no extra napkins, no water refill. We did get Parmesan (upon request) that came from the fridge (maybe that's why I thought this person isn't a former restaurant guy) At this point I should say something about the service. Its friendly but the poor lady that's working the whole thing needs help or training. We waited a really really long time before we were able to ask for a box and the dessert. And like I said no water refills. So she left and we didn't see our leftovers and then a brownie sundae appeared. I guess that's the only dessert option? It was the best thing there so that was cool. Then, you know, after more waiting, we got our boxed up food and left. I can't fault the waitress. I think she had a lot going on in there. And you can see they do a healthy take out biz. read more

This place knocked my socks off with the freshness of its salads. They were crisp and not drowning in dressings and all the ingredients were really great! We had a half and half pizza, with veggies on one side and a meat-fest on the other and the pizza was more than enough for two people. The pizza is a thinner crust but not quite as thin as a Roman style. It was delicious though I do secretly wish some end pieces weren't burnt black. Plenty of seats on a busy night and though the pizzas take a while to bake, there's great appetizer options and t.v.s to occupy your time. Highly recommended! read more

If you like BURNT pizza, you'll love this place! Every time we've been there (3 times) it has always been burnt on bottom and edges. I dined in on a Sunday afternoon, when there were very few people inside. The place is darkly lit but clean and nice looking. I ordered the margherita pizza, which came in under ten minutes. The crust was chewy (as opposed to cracker crisp or soft to the point of being floppy) and slightly thicker than an average thin crust. Even the edge crust was an appetizing consistency. It tasted very good, as did the fresh mozzarella, basil and sauce. I was glad I ordered one without too much on top to get in the way, as the brick oven cooked crust is clearly the star. The 10" small is a great size for one hungry eater. Service was friendly and prompt. It was a perfect experience and I'll go back, though Vito & Nick's is still my favorite. Rude delivery service: On three occasions, we've tried to order delivery. The bartenders are extremely rude, offering up excuses in a belligerent tone.... They act like it's the customer's fault they can't get their act together. It's really a shame..... because the pizza is great (hence 2 stars instead of 1). Don't bring your children here! This used to be our go-to place on Friday nights for the past year and a half. Loved that it wasn't super crowded and that families with kids were always welcome. No one judged you if your kids didn't sit perfectly quiet and act well mannered at all times. We were in there recently and was asked by management "if I could just get my kids under control." He was referring to my 2 month old newborn who was crying in an already loud and jam packed restaurant. I'll admit my older kids had previously gone to the restroom themselves and we had to settle them all down, however when this comment was made to us, everyone was behaving well with the exception of my crying newborn (who I was frantically trying to settle). The family next to us (with kids as well) overheard and came over to express their displeasure with the comment that was made and stated that nothing about our kids behavior warranted that response from the establishment. We were mortified at first-but now just extremely disappointed. This was a place we have gone to and ordered from more times than I can count. It feels like it doesn't matter that we have been long time patrons-now that people are coming in with their Groupons, they would rather cater to them. We will not be going back and I would suggest that the establishment lighten up on families, especially given the demographics of the neighborhood. It's just truly disappointing. read more

I was looking for a good margherita pizza and was really hungry after a day of moving boxes. I went to Grubhub for delivery and found this place. Since I felt like I could eat an elephant, I ordered an appetizer flatbread (goat cheese and pesto) $6 and the Serios Classic Margherita 11 inch (small pizza) $12. Boy, was I surprised because the flatbread was the size of my pizza so I literally had 2 pizzas that I had to eat. And I did eat every last bite because it was so delicious. My girlfriend and myself had the opportunity to dine at Pizzeria Serio last night. All in all, we both agreed it is a nice addition to Chicago's artisan pizza credentials. The space is very nice; dark wood, low lighting, casual and unpretentious. We split the Caprese salad. Meh...it was just good. We both agreed that the mozzarella tasted good, but we were disappointed with the heavy-handed shake of dried herbs that overpowered both the olive oil and mozz. As well, a dusting of sea salt would have done wonders to it. On to the pizza. Only one complaint really....the size. Now don't get me wrong, it's a good sized pie, as 14' is the only size they offer. We both agreed that one size larger would be fantastic, as we LOVE to eat the hell out of some pizza. The sauce is fantastic. Pretty sure it was san marzano based or maybe just plum tomatoes, but it had that raw quality similar to Neopolitan pizza...tangy, balanced and super tomatoey. The crust was nothing to sneeze at, being perfectly thick, chewy and so flavorful. We had the Margherita, which was expertly prepared. All in all, I'd say this place has a lot going for them. Once they get their liquor license, they have a gorgeous bar. As well, they aren't in wood-burning mode yet on their oven, but apparently that's yet to come...a little wood smoke would really take these pies to the next level. read more

I came here to watch the bears / packers game. They had an all you can eat and drink deal for $30 which is a great deal, but they didn't seem to be prepared for the crowd they received. Even though they weren't prepaired, the staff was working their hardest and doing an okay job. The bartender Tom was friendly and kept our glasses full the whole game. We ordered a pizza and it was very good...somewhere between NY style and gourmet. I actually love the pizza here. It's the best I've ever had!!! The crust is light and crispy. The sauce is just enough. It's never greasy or overdo on toppings. Close to the pizza I had in Italy! what happened?...down to 2.5 stars... i excitedly brought a friend to try out my new neighborhood gem and left very disappointed and confused. the once delectable flatbread became a step above little caesar crazy bread. the thin, flavorful crust became more of a hand-tossed pizza reminiscent of childhood pizza parties. the sauce still remained delicious, thank goodness, but the toppings were scarce. the service definitely dropped a few notches. we arrived at 9pm with a 10pm closing time and their constant "how is everything going here?" (by 2 separate people) made it apparent that they were really, gentle indicators that they wanted to close shop. warning: don't bring white wine. they won't chill it for you. i get that they don't have their liquor license but all other byob's (who don't have their liquor license) provide buckets of ice. our server did accommodate by bringing out glasses of ice with our wine glasses. just a very disappointing experience that will probably force me to move on... read more

Went to a shower here. Ate off a pre-ordered menu. The food was pretty awesome. From the mini calzones (most notable), to the flatbread (solid), and the brick oven pizzas (downright good), everything was fresh with bright, clean flavors.
