This place always delivers on freshness and unique takes on pizza. Not being from around here, Curry Pizza is a new to me thing, and I have to say I enjoyed it quite a bit! I came in fairly late in the evening, maybe an hour before closing, there were a few other customers around but nothing crazy. The staff taking orders were very helpful, being my first time i asked for a recommendation, and they pointed me to the Tikka Masala pizza which they said is a good one for first timers. They also have more standard pizzas available with traditional toppings, but I definitely wanted to try something different. They gave me a number and probably 15 minutes later my hot pizza appeared from the kitchen. It looked fantastic, very appealing to the eyes, toppings pretty evenly distributed over the surface. My first bites did not disappoint at all, the crust was done just right, the sauce and curry flavor came through significantly but not sharply. The chicken was tender, and all the other toppings just augmented everything. Occasionally, I'd toss a little Cholula on there just for more kick, but this is definitely a pizza I would eat again. I actually ended up eating the whole thing. This was a great experience. I don't know that I'll find myself in this area specifically, or at this location, in the future. Pretty interesting and unique Indian fusion option. My friend first introduced me to a curry pizza in South Bay so I was pretty excited when I found there was one in downtown San Mateo. If you have the app they often do deals which is nice. I appreciate that you can choose half and half options for no additional costs and enjoy the plentiful amount of toppings they include. Just as it says in the name, they sell pizza--not just your classic pizza (they have that too), but also on the menu is Indian themed flavors. Sure you can eat a pizza at other neighborhood pizzerias, but you'll not find Indian pizza on their menu. They have assorted Indian appetizers, but that will be for my next visit--masala chips, desi garlic fries & you had me at "SAMOSA." If you want to try 2 flavors, they will do half & half and we did just that, so we got the curry chicken masala & tandoori chicken. Wow, it tastes really good--my favorite though was the curry chicken with their home curry sauce--so good! The tandoori was good too, but between the 2-I loved the curry one more--each pizza is loaded with cilantro, if you're not a fan, make sure you tell them. On a separate visit we had the chicken tikka, which was another good one! I got mango lassi to wash everything down and the lassi was smooth, creamy, not too sweet and not too thick. The chicken sooooo tender and juicy, not overly spicy or filled with chili, just robust and flavorful with just the right amount of smokiness. The rest of the veggies fresh and perfectly proportioned, not laden onto the crust. And the crust? Perfect, thin and crispy but not cracker-like, the edges charred to the point where though I usually give the crust to. My husband, this was so freaking good, I ate it. We asked for "light" cheese and boy did they ever deliver, not heavily dripping with cheese, they made is super light and balanced. The customer service awesome, friendly and down to earth, awesome, sincere and earnest. The interior clean and simple--we are there, and loved that it was quiet, not deafening, which would've deterred us from going in and getting something.
