The fish was served at the proper temperature, with excellent firmness and just the right amount of fat. The menu featured bluefin tuna, and the chutoro was especially memorable. Too often, fatty tuna can come across as little more than a greasy bite, but this one was beautifully balanced, rich without being heavy. The charcoal-grilled lamb chops were another standout. Perfectly cooked, with a touch of smoke, they would have been impressive even at a restaurant that specialized in meat. It's clear that Allan and his team care deeply about sourcing, technique, and consistency. Other Mama has earned its reputation, and after this meal, it's easy to see why. Other Mama definitely qualifies as a hidden gem! A group of four of us visited during Restaurant Week. Don't let the location or exterior fool you, it's actually a very nice restaurant with a lovely interior once you go in. The cocktail selection is great and pretty reasonable for Vegas. All of us were quite happy with our selections. I opted for the restaurant week menu, while my friends ordered off the regular menu. The restaurant week menu had 4 courses for $60, so it was a great value, but prices are very reasonable regardless. My favorite dishes were the Korean fried chicken and the wagyu skewers (my friend ordered this). They have a robust sushi selection as well, and everything tasted fresh and was prepared with care. The food is top tier and he explains every dish being served. They have the freshest seafood and check out their specials which change from time to time. I've frequented this restaurant for years, and it never disappoints. I've never left a review, and I think that every time I visit, I'm fully immersed in the food and ambiance. I forget to take photos of everything. It's cozy, everyone on staff is friendly, and the food is always fantastic. It feels like a getaway. Most recently, we've been trying their happy hour sushi bar and it's always fresh and the menu options are quite varied. Some all time favorites are the kimchi fried rice, their sashimi, and the oysters. You can't go wrong with these. We've tried their course menu before and it was delicious. They have changed the entrees menu a bit over the years, but we have yet to order something we don't like. We are big fans of their sushi bar so that's usually our go-to. This is by far our favorite spot for high quality sushi, but also a lovely place for a nice sit down dinner on special occasions. We always make a reservation when trying to get a table in their main dining area, as I've seen it get pretty busy. Happy hour time gives more leeway to be spontaneous. Simply an incredible place. The best culinary experience I've had in Las Vegas! Hole in the wall spot serving some of the best food in LV! Allen is great people and service is second to none! He asked what we wanted then asked if we trusted him and said yes and let him drive from there. This was my second time at Other Mama. The first time was years ago because so many of my friends loved it. I decided to try again as they were on Restaurant Week. First, I will say that the interior has changed quite a bit which is a huge positive. They have upgraded the restaurant and it's got a much cooler vibe than it did years ago. There is a main dining room and a separate bar area that also has table. We sat in the bar area and they had the game and fight playing but it didn't feel like a sports bar, honestly gave the vibe a nice casual first date spot. Second, the service was great. The servers explained all the dishes and were very accommodating to all of our allergies and food restrictions. They explain everything to make sure it matched what we needed. The courses were a little slow but it was to be expected with the restaurant week demand. Now for the food, the first course was oyster, tuna tostada, and shrimp ceviche. My wife loved the tuna tostada with the pickled onions because it gave a sweetness to the dish. Funny enough, that's what I disliked about it. I found the shrimp ceviche to be a bit flavorless and tough. The oysters were GREAT. Second course was the Japanese fried chicken & Caviar Aioli. This was pretty good but not nearly one of the better karaage dishes that I've had in the past. The seared ocean trouts carpaccio was the second choice and it was perfect. The flavors were bright, clean, and delicious! The third course was the nigiri set and all the sushi was fresh and good. Fourth course was grilled wagyu steak and miso black marinated cod. The wagyu steak was a bit tough for Wagyu but it was cooked well. I didn't love the hollandaise sauce on its the miso black marinated cod was also cooked perfected with a crispy skin. But as most miso black cod, it was very one note and super rich in flavor. Overall, the food for me all seems a bit sweeter than what I personally prefer. I wish I could give this place a 3.5 star rather than a 3 but for me it's definitely closer to a 3 than 4. read more

I made a 7:30 PM Valentine's reservation at Other Mama after a colleague recommended it. We drove 17 minutes expecting a special evening. HUGE mistake! We arrived on time. Despite having a reservation, we stood there awkwardly until someone suggested we sit at the bar. No warmth. No apology. Just "you can sit there." We ordered immediately: * 1/2 dozen oysters * Sashimi: chutoro, salmon belly, yellowtail belly, amberjack, uni * Cucumber salad * Caviar French toast * Ocean trout carpaccio * "Lover's Club" cocktail * Asahi zero alcohol * Fresh wasabi and Pellegrino Drinks and cucumber salad arrived. Oysters followed Shortly after. And then... nothing. We waited. And waited. And waited. For almost one full hour. No updates. No apology. No "your order is coming." Just us sitting there starving while watching plates fly out to other guests. At 8:50 PM, I finally asked them to cancel the rest of our order and bring the check. That's how long we had been ignored. Magically, after asking to cancel, the sashimi plate appeared. Missing the amberjack. And the portions? The salmon belly and uni were embarrassingly small. I genuinely regret not taking a photo -- the size of these 2 was honestly shocking for what they charge. By that point we were extremely hungry, so we ate what was placed in front of us and again asked to cancel the remaining food. When the bill arrived, it still included items we never received -- including the missing amberjack. We had to ask them to remove charges for food that never arrived. On Valentine's night!! With only two sushi chefs working the bar, shameful to say the least. If you cannot handle reservations on the busiest night of the year, do not book them. Be honest. Tell guests you're overwhelmed. Don't trap people into waiting an hour in silence while their special night falls apart. We left still hungry and incredibly disappointed. Then we drove about 15 minutes to Sushi Hiro. The difference was like day and night! Five sushi chefs at the bar. Immediate greeting. Food started arriving within minutes. Outstanding quality. Larger portions. Much Better service. Look at the receipts from the 2 places, you can see what time we arrived to each restaurant. The time stamps clearly show how long we were stuck at Other Mama -- and how quickly we were seated and fed at Sushi Hiro. Look at the photos I've attached from both places. The contrast speaks for itself. Sushi Hiro's Kamashita (super fatty tuna with caviar and gold flakes) was phenomenal, and unforgettably special, like Valentine's dinner should feel! We visited Other Mama during Restaurant Week and did their $60 prix fixe menu with four courses. I can honestly say it was 100 percent worth it. The service was a bit slow and it took about 40 minutes to get our first course, but once the food started coming, everything was excellent and well-portioned. We all left full and satisfied. The inside is also very clean and nicely set up. There were four of us, so we split the options to try everything. For the first course, we got the mixed seafood platter and the freshness of the seafood really stood out. For the second course, half of us ordered the Japanese fried chicken and the other half got the seared ocean trout carpaccio. The carpaccio was our favorite. The third course was a seven-piece nigiri set for each of us, and this alone made the meal feel like a great deal. The fish tasted incredibly fresh and our server explained each one to us. This set normally runs around forty-one dollars on its own, so getting it as part of the full sixty-dollar menu was a steal. The fourth course was ice cream and everyone's favorite was either the coconut or the miso flavor. It was a great way to end the meal. I want to start by saying I've been to Other Mama a couple of times before this recent visit, and both experiences were great. Unfortunately, this last visit on a Monday really missed the mark. We sat in the regular dining room, which wasn't full, yet the service was extraordinarily slow. Our server eventually explained that the restaurant offers AYCE on Mondays in the other room (the one with the bar) and that there was only one sushi chef working. So while we were paying full price for à la carte, the AYCE guests were understandably getting priority--but this meant very long waits for us. Toward the end, we had been waiting so long for the rest of our dishes that we asked to cancel them and close out. The server assured us the food was finally coming and kindly comped a few dishes and drinks, which we genuinely appreciated. That said, the food itself wasn't exceptional that night. Everything tasted very average, nothing memorable, and certainly nothing I'd look forward to ordering again. It was especially disappointing because we had brought out-of-town guests with us. We found this spot on Yelp and chose it to celebrate my partner's birthday. The aesthetic is really cool, and the food and drink menu looked fantastic. We were genuinely excited going in. That said, the experience didn't live up to expectations. Our bill came out to around $800, and unfortunately the service really took away from the night. Our server was kind, but clearly overwhelmed and unable to keep up with her tables. Drink orders were forgotten multiple times (at least 3-4), and we were never checked on--not even once after our food arrived, despite a couple of dishes missing the mark. Drinks regularly took 20+ minutes, and we ended up going to the bar ourselves a few times just to follow up. For a restaurant at this price point, you expect a much higher level of service. We decided to sit at the bar to watch the fresh sushi rolls being made by the Chef. For starters, we did get the caviar French toast. Delicious! We also ordered the Brussel sprouts (5/5), Volcano Roll (10/5), Miso Cod (10/5), and a Brownie Sundae with Miso Honey Ice Cream (3/5) -Just get the scoop of ice cream! Still hidden behind an auto shop, expansion to the space next door doubling Other Mama's footprint beyond the PDR, it was as a party of three that a la carte Dinner was enjoyed in the bar room while NHL hockey played on TV. Recently adding daily Happy Hour, bargain pricing for Food and Drinks including long-time favorites from 4pm until 6pm, classic Cocktails like the Aviation clock-in at just a little more than half Casino pricing while Appetizers such as Spicy Tuna on Crispy Rice and Sin City's best Octopus Balls are $16 and $17, respectively. Still impressing with Fried Chicken, though Caviar French Toast for $39 is a dubious choice considering the low-quality Roe and tiny portion, Tuna Tartare and Nigiri both hit the mark in terms of Ingredients and assemblage. Adding an Otoro Hand Roll, Uni and Sweet Shrimp before Dessert, Krohmer's Miso Honey Ice Cream still one of Vegas' most delicious scoops, both Key Lime Pie as well as a Chocolate Brownie Sundae are executed as expected and not to be missed. read more

Our monthly Suppa Club made Other Mama our March stop, and let me just say this place showed out. We came ready to "sample a few things" and instead ordered the whole damn menu. Absolutely no regrets. We had the 2 of the 7-piece nigiri's, 2 of the 15-piece sashimi's, chicken karaage, miso cod, kimchi fried rice, Surf and Turf Roll, Hama Hama Roll, Summerlin Roll, Other Mama Roll, Sticky Ribs, key lime pie, Nutella ice cream, vanilla ice cream, miso ice cream, and the brownie situation at the end. Not a weak link in the bunch. And yet somehow, at a seafood-heavy dinner, the Sticky Ribs and the Chicken Karaage said, "Actually, we the stars tonight." Those were the highlights for me. The miso cod and the kimchi fried rice was right there too -- rich, flavorful, and the kind of dish that makes the table go quiet for a minute because everybody is suddenly very focused. The sushi and sashimi were excellent, the rolls all brought their own thing to the table, and dessert absolutely did not phone it in. Also worth noting: the cocktail menu HIT. Hard. No notes. Everybody loves a place that can feed you well and then casually remind you that you may not need another stop after this. What really pushed the night over the top was Allen, one of the owners, who was also our server. He explained every dish, walked us through everything, and made the whole meal feel like an experience instead of just dinner. That kind of service goes a long way, especially when your table has clearly abandoned moderation as a concept. Other Mama was a huge win for Suppa Club. Great food, great cocktails, great service, and the kind of meal that has everybody talking about what they loved most on the drive home. 10/10. I tried this spot based off of a recommendation. We were in need of finding an affordable sushi place that was nearby. So happy we went. We made a reservation at 6pm. Plenty of parking and walked right in. It was still quiet, so I guess we made it before the dinner rush. I thought the decor and ambiance was nice. I liked how it was kinda themed like you were in a submarine. The menu had so many options. Best to share so you can try a bunch. I don't drink much so I got the Cucumber/mint and soda drink they have on the menu. Sooo good. Not too sweet. I want to figure out how to make it at home. Husband got the Old Fashion and said it was a good one. All the fish tasted fresh. I liked the salmon and red snapper. Their spicy tuna over crispy rice was perfect. Nice crisp. I really liked the place and music. The food is not good, ordered sashimi and peaces were not cut all the way had to butcher it with chopsticks. I even told the waiter and did nothing. They do not have yellowtail, they give you this so called mushy,slimy fish that does not look or taste like it. No gluten free rolls. That means no rice rolls, the waiter acted like he was offended and we felt like he was treating us like ignorant. When you order a roll it seems like they serve you half of it. A hidden gem in a strip mall by Durango and Twain, other mama is for sure a local favorite serving fresh seafood with Japanese and Korean flavors. This has been one of my best kept foodie places that I have been going to since I moved to Vegas. The dining room seems to be always packed so reservations are highly recommended. I have sat at the bar a few times and the service is equally as stellar. From their signature cocktails to their sake and non alcoholic selection, there's something for everyone. As far as food goes- you can never go wrong with whatever you order (in my opinion). In our recent visit, we had an assortment of sashimi, amberjack crudo, tuna tartare with house made waffle friend and the French toast caviar.
