This was my first visit to this Nail Salon with my friend and we were both overjoyed with our experiences ! In 1 pic, a customer approved me to take/post her pic as she received both pedi and mani while she relaxed in the massage chair. COVID-handling: masks on, hand sanitizer present, and certificates of COVID prevention training displayed. PKN has great color choices! I chose a "psycho blue" for fun. First time here and was not impressed. I will never go back. I asked for a dip/sns with a french tip. they said they could do it but only with gel and now powder due to their "skill set being limited". I was in dire straights as I have a black tie event to go to and no additional time to schedule something else. The assured me it would look great. The entire time they rushed. It was a 2PM appt so no clue why they were in such a hurry to get me out of there. the place was empty. the nails themselves were HORRIBLE. chunky, crooked, and misshapen. the dip job was even worse. smeared and uneven. i said i was unhappy with the job and instead of asking how they could help instead she cut them all off and attempted to pack me on my way without removing the rest. I basically demanded that they remove the rest of the dip because now I have to find someone else to do it, and they'd charge me extra to remove an old fake nail and leftover dip. I'm going to take the scenic route on this one, so bear with me. I promise there's a caboose on this train of thought. This is an interesting period of transition for me and my nineteen-year-old daughter, because she's almost grown, and I'm simply less of a pivotal force in her daily life. I don't see it as us growing apart or the notion that she'll no longer be "Daddy's little girl" kind of thing, I see it as life moving on, and the normal sequence in the passage of time. I didn't say I like it. I'm pretty sure there must be other fathers who feel this way, as long as we never have to reveal our true feelings in public or ask for directions while driving. What's interesting here is the sideline role fathers are apparently limited to during this particular time: Our main function now seems to be swooping in occasionally with manly-man cameo appearances, like replacing her obviously worn tires. ("There's no damn tread on them!" "Oh, Dad.") And here's a little secret - I really couldn't care less about cell phones, what I do care about is how she always responds quicker to my texts than my voicemails, and that's pretty much the reason I even bother having a thumb machine. Which brings us to PKN Day Spa: There are just so many sets of tires you need over a period of time, so every now and then, I'll text my daughter to meet me here to get our nails done. It's close to where she lives, I let them know we're coming, and they always seem happy to see us. I'm not familiar with their "day spa" services, but PKN is hard to beat as a mani-value - they have some kind of age policy thing where they're only charging me $15 for my daughter's French manicure, and $10 for my French-less ones. And for reasons I'm still not sure about, they personally seat me in one of their raised pedi-chairs while they stand up to do my mani. Whatever works for them is okay by me. One more thing: I've been going to the same family of manicurists on the other side of town for the last five years or so, they know I go to PKN occasionally, and sometimes they shake their heads and sigh at the results. I'll admit they have a point: Is this the best manicure I can get here in town? No. But is PKN a good place to hang out with my daughter, and wonder sometimes how interesting life has turned out to be? Yes. read more

I came in here because of all the good reviews and walked in really disappointed. The salon was messy and unorganized and it didn't look all that clean. I then watched one of the employee clip her nails while I continued to wait for service. It then took me awhile to pick out a color because of their odd color wheel (very hard to find my color) so I picked up the bottles myself. This place is AMAZING! I always come here to get mani-pedis, and they always do a fabulous job. They make me feel comfortable to be there, and despite what other reviews say, it's always clean when I come. I had a wait about 5-10 minutes, but that was great, because I went next door to Edible, and got a smoothie to drink while getting a pedicure. I recently had surgery on my toe, and they were very gentle with it. I hadn't even mentioned the surgery. Every time I come, they always have a plethora of colours to choose from. I love Tammy and her staff. I used to pay a lot for a pedicure and always got gel. When I went in the first time Tammy said that there was no need to pay for the gel. She said just do the polish. It is inexpensive and the salon is always clean and neat. Everyone smiles there and the customers talk to each other. I can always get in without a problem. This little nail salon just changed ownership on July 1st 2009 and the new owner Tami and her team are FABULOUS! I love a good mani-pedi and get them often and have tried Mani-Pedis in many places in Austin and even some top SPAs is the US. I went to PKN Day spa this weekend with a girl friend. They gave me the best looking manicure and pedicure I have EVER received. I keep staring at my nails they look so good. Even days latter my cuticles look perfect. Every other time I have had a manicure my cuticles start to peel a bit from the cleaning and trimming. Not at PKN Day spa my nails have the most perfect shape, and my cuticles look amazing, and my polish looks amazing. Not only did they do a fantastically through job on my hands and feet, oh do they know how to give a nice long message with the lotion. I was in heaven. I want to go back and try out their message service knowing know how great their massage is. The price is great for the amount of time and care they take. Their English is great and I got everything I asked for and more. The selection of OPI polish was terrific. The combination manicure and pedicure was $35. Worst pedi I've ever gotten! They were nice enough, but they did not remove any dead skin and when the pedicure was done, they didn't have us sit under the dryer, so even though I walked around my office in the disposable flip flops for an hour, I eventually had to put my heels back on and the big toe was ruined. I was tired of not getting the best pedicures in Marble Falls, so I logged onto Yelp.com and looked in the Lakeway/Beecave area and found PKN with 5 stars and they totally deserve it. My friend and I walked in (we had made an appointment--they take walk-ins, but I suggest if you can to make an appointment), picked out our polish and were seated for our pedicure. They were very friendly, spoke English well, and explained why they certain things (i.e. cut and filed nails a certain way and why the last person who did my nails did it wrong). We were served water during the pedicure. They were very attentive. There was soft music in the backround which made the atmosphere nice. My friend and I were able to visit with each other and the ladies who were giving us the mani-pedis. A mani-pedi is $35! They do accept credit cards, but prefer being paid in cash. I think this is probably to keep costs down. They do not ask you for cash instead; it is just posted on the counter. They also have hour massages for $55. I didn't have one, but I plan on it in the future! The only downfall, in my opinion, is that they do not use new tools for each customer. However, they were clean so I was not upset about that. read more

Until recently, I lived 5 minutes from everything I need. Now I live 20 minutes from everywhere, but still don't leave home until 5 minutes until I'm supposed to be there. Needless to say, I showed up LATE. Tammy apologized and let me know that I would have to wait awhile. But she was extremely nice about it, and I didn't mind because it was my fault. It seems that typical salon service goes something like this: for some reason or another (my crusty old nails, how far away I live, &c) they decide I won't be a repeat customer, and do a hasty, sloppy job. But when Tammy and Tracy learned how far I'd driven, it seems like they kicked into super-service gear. At other places I've sometimes gotten very timid or dismissive interaction, but here I found reason to smile and laugh throughout. When they switched to another language to share funny comments, they often repeated the comments in English, so that myself and other patrons wouldn't feel self-conscious. The massages were great, and longer than usual. When they worked on my mani/pedi, they asked lots of questions to make sure they were working with my preferences. And when Tammy started on my toes, she stopped almost immediately to recommend a darker shade that ended up looking far more fabulous than the one I would have chosen. One odd thing: most places do a clear base coat. My fingernails definitely did not get one, nor, I think, did my toes. But I didn't say anything because I didn't notice until it was halfway done. Maybe it's because I got Easter pastel colors? If my nails stain, I'll be sure to ask for the base coat next time. Overall, recommended - a really enjoyable visit for the same low price as other, less attentive places. read more
