Still great! I feel lucky as heck to have Plan B in my nabe. It's likely the most successful restaurant on Park Rd and dang, they've been there for years now. I've brought countless people from friends to parents to in-laws to Plan B and everyone likes it. Yesterday I scarfed up a custom double smash burger to which I added the blue cheese sauce (tasty) with a big side of disco tots. My wife had the MOAB (mother of all burgers/big Mac knockoff) with the hand cut fries. Those fries were REALLY GOOD, I might have to switch from my beloved tots next time. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's just a few downsides I would like to share-they could really use one of those heater things by the front door, that keeps the cold air out. If you're not sitting in the bar, but at a booth on the left side, you will get a blast of cold air whenever someone enters or exits the joint[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I've been to Plan B far more times than I can count, going back to when this original Plan B location opened (15+) years ago! Anyway, an old work buddy & I met there yesterday and it occurred to me I hadn't ever reviewed (shame on me). Burgers: Amazing, some of the best around! Over time, the menu has diversified a bit and there's salads and vegetarian options as well. Lately, I've opted for the burger salad, but you can't go wrong choosing otherwise. Also, they always have an expansive draft beer list so it's fun to try new ones. Stopped in for a quick bite after a harrowing day at work. Sat at the bar. Ordered a glass of Chardonnay and fish tacos. After a period of time, I noticed the bartender was serving other people, while I was still waiting for my wine. I asked him where my wine was.... Another patron told me he was all alone.... I got my wine. While still waiting for my fish tacos, the bartender decided to have a conversation with two women who were just there to say hi to him. For beverages I ordered a beer and my wife got the gimlit (vodka, like & simple syrup) along with the fried pickles, which we both agreed we're probably our favorites to date with such light breading and chip like texture, feeling like they were baked or air fried. It was puzzling that we had to ask for ranch because everywhere else we'd ever gone it was an accompanyment. When the burgers came out, the El Diablo on a pretzel bun with coleslaw for me and the 3 Shrooms on pretzel bun and truffle Parmesan fries for my wife, this is where our experience started to go South. First, the brought a plate of the fish tacos that we didn't even order. Second, they only brought my wife Parmesan fries, not truffle Parmesan tots that she requested. Given we are already 45 minutes into our visit, we stuck with them. Third, and the main sticking point and reason we came: the burgers. The pretzel buns were kinda chewy with crisp parts on the edges. And the burger patties: bland and unexciting. Being from the Midwest with our smash burgers and Lucy's perhaps I'm spoiled, but a giant 1/2 lb patty with lots of decoration with a plain slab of hamburger meat really disappointed us. My wife barely ate half hers (and getting a burger was her idea) and I left some as well - both uncharacteristic of us. Fourth, the slaw had NO flavor, and being a BIG slaw fan I was pretty disheartened. At the end of the meal getting the check, dealing with having the fish tacos we didn't order removed, and then paying was a 10+ minute process. Our waitress was friendly and courteous, don't get me wrong, but it felt they could have used more staff to help. Being one of the top burger places in Connecticut, and award winning at that, some 15 years ago, I'd challenge Plan B to step outside of the box and try to reinvent themselves to take their burgers to the next level, because while the restaurant itself is unique, at the heart of their 3 B's the main one fell flat for us. read more

On this rainy muggy evening this gem of a restaurant was a delight. Our waitress was in believable- she hustled constantly, watched and had others watch out for a very young walker, picked up other servers drops and cleaned the end of evening tables. Our food was great as well. My husband's Buffalo wings were huge and looked more like a meal than an appetizer. My build your own burger was great but I did choose the wrong bun with a potato bun . It was delicious but the bottom was too soggy to lift up so I had to eat my burger deconstructed which worked out surprisingly well. In fact it gave me the idea to eat it in the lettuce almost like a wrap and I saved the carbs for the delicious sweet potato fries! My mom and I tried this spot out for lunch and WOW, so much better than the location in Simsbury. After having several terrible orders in a row in Simsbury over the last year or so (burned food, cold food, poor service), what an awesome time here in West Hartford! Felt good to "be back" for an amazing meal. The burgers came out quick, our server was attentive and helpful, the place felt clean (Simsbury has a weird smell, like a dirty bar). First visit will probably be my last unfortunately. No parking lot, had to park on the street, which isn't bad if you can find a spot nearby but it's also time limited. I was there on a Friday around 5pm. There were about 6 other patrons in the bar area. I sat at a table with a friend and we waited longer than expected to be greeted by a waitress. Food also took awhile to come out and while it tasted good, my bunless turkey burger looked like someone had taken a bite out of it in the kitchen. We're big fans of Plan B (primarily the Glastonbury location) so I was so excited to finally try their OG West Hartford location. We called ahead and the process was really easy. We ordered two of the mini cheeseburgers. When we arrived, they had specified parking spots for takeout, which was great because we didn't have to search for parking. We arrived around 6:03 and asked for our order to be ready at 6PM. Our food was ready to grab & pay when we arrived. Easy Peasy. Now for the best part - the food. We've never had the mini cheeseburgers before, so I was excited to try them. They were AMAZING! Just as juicy as everyone has said. They were the perfect size to eat on-the-go and incredibly filling. We were already big fans of the Parm fries, so I was psyched to see they automatically come with those! Their fries are perfect and people do not rave about them enough!! My lovely wife and I went to Plan B early evening last week. We were sat promptly, and offered drinks in a reasonable time. After a few sips, we ordered different burgers, and I started with a half order of wings...which was more than plenty for one person. I'm a heat freak, so I ordered the "Insane" flavor. The Muscular Cleanup Hitter of the Mini Cheeseburger World. I've got to warn you about one thing - you'll need to lean over your plate. I've never had a "juicy" mini cheeseburger before, but this one oozed peppery juice. It was great for the taste buds and a risk for the clothes. The mini cheeseburgers were terrific. Great bun and a tasty, meaty, well-cooked and well-seasoned burger with melted cheese. I don't usually "do" sliders or mini cheeseburgers, but I would order these again. Plan B's fries are fantastic. This place is such a staple that sometimes it's easy to overlook. It's part of a mini chain now but that's not necessarily a bad thing. They knew who they are and don't try to be someone their not. As a result you can get a favorite and enjoy it just as well at another place. For me, it's their buffalo chicken burger sandwich. We ordered our usual - Blue Cheese burger, pink, with fries. Amazingly, the burgers are so consistent here. My burger tasted exactly like it did the last time I went to the Glastonbury Plan B. The bun is deliciously buttered and toasted, and the burger was topped with blue cheese and caramelized onions. From the time I walked in I was greeted with a warm inviting smile by the maitre d. The restaurant appeared rustic in design with the wood panels that adorn the place. Excellent appetizer to share before your meal though! The Blue Cheese Burger is where the money is. Cooked exactly how I wanted it, not too greasy, slightest brush of butter on the bun, ughh just so perfect. The blue cheese just covers the inside of your mouth with gooey, cheesey and creamy goodness while the tender and juicy burger slithers right through and absorbs the right amount of blue cheesey goodness every single time. We went here after searching for late night eats in the area. We are from NY and used to having more availability than what was here in the Hartford area. We arrived at around 11pm and after some initial confusion (one waitress told us the kitchen closes at midnight and another said it closed at 11- they ended up going back & forth with each other), we were able to order. They have a smaller late night eats menu but all the necessary items were there: fries, wings, chicken tenders... The food was a bit salty but that's also the nature of these junk food eats. The cocktails were great. The music was loud but not overly so. There was karaoke but only 2 people participated. It was an overall fun atmosphere and I recommend if in the area. "That's the Way God Planned It" (Billy Preston) So I'm not sure if the Supreme Being had an unseen hand in planning Plan B's business plan, but whoever planned it sure seemed to have planned out one very effective plan. Since their 2006 opening in West Hartford, they've grown to five more in Connecticut plus one in Washington DC, Virginia, and Massachusetts. That's a pretty successful plan, don't you think? Three of us had a very nice Sunday brunch this morning. There were plenty of seating options both in the dining room and out on the front patio, but since the weather was so stellar, we decided to sit outside. Their brunch menu is fantastic! Six appetizers to share including Buffalo Shrimp and Breakfast Tots (of course they have bacon!), eighteen amazing burgers, three salads, and fourteen breakfast dishes including the likes of Waffles Bananas Foster, all sorts of egg and omelets plates, brunch tacos, Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict, a Breakfast Burrito, and Cinnamon Bourbon French Toast. If you want a Sunday eye opener, you can try your luck with a Bottomless Bourbon Sour, a Bottomless Bloody Mary, or a Bottomless Mimosa it'll cost you $16 and a 2-hour time limit. I ordered a B Hash Breakfast Bowl with a charred jalapeño & brisket hash, maple-glazed Brussels sprouts, and two eggs over brioche toast ($11.59). You can put your tongue back in your mouth, and yes... it was wonderful. It's been quite a while since I have been to the west hartford location. We picked up takeout this evening and we only live 12 minutes away. I ordered a crispy Buffalo chicken sandwich and my date ordered a burger. The Buffalo chicken had no sauce, which is weird because I had to specify a heat level when I ordered. The chicken was not crispy, at all, not even a stray edge of crispness. There was a few shreds of carrot and three pieces of celery. The blue cheese was put on as an afterthought and it was cold to the touch definitely not melted. For some reason I was given a PILE of sweet potato fries. They were all limp soggy and so greasy I put them down.l the garbage disposal. Inedible. My dates burger had no char marks. Looked to be steamed almost.
