Recently I joined the Planet Fitness on New York Street in Aurora and have felt very welcomed at this location. During one of my workouts, I had a brief but meaningful exchange with a trainer named Chris. As an older woman who takes her fitness seriously, I was struck by Chris's focus, professionalism, and kind demeanor. He reminded me of someone dear to me, my late husband, who was also dedicated, respectful, and quietly strong. That brief moment of connection stayed with me. Having just moved to the area, moments like that help make a new place feel a little more comfortable. Living up to their motto, "No judgement." Good place to work out. It's like any other planet fitness with the equipment, (although they now have newer weight machines), but this place feels a little smaller. The staff is welcoming and actively clean the place. In terms of lockers, please be sensible and do not keep valuables like gold, jewelry, and watches, it's not a bank. It's the cheapest option around so no complaints there. Sure you can join OT, or LA Fitness and I have tried that as a corporate perk and didn't really care much about the experience. I just need functional equipment and the rest is up to me. Although, I wish they would upgrade their treadmills and some cardio equipment, it's not terrible but would really enhance the experience if some newer models were adopted. Also, not sure why they ended the 24 hour timings and reduced operating times over the weekend since many people have different schedules. Shout out to the trainers here. They seem to be humble guys and would teach you well to get in shape and be disciplined. read more

at this location exactly are out of all the employees who work at this gym, there are two attendants, (cameras can be checked everyone) who walk around together.... doing the job of one person. (refilling sanitizer bottles, other locations dust but not this one, vacuuming, etc.) . it's a guy and a girl attendant, and though it is none of my business, it's just inappropriate to take our personal lives to work with us. it is also incredibly unfair to the attendees that are also there with them who have to work more than the two mentioned because all they do is walk and talk and vacuum absolutely nothing on the floor so they look busy on cameras. it seems silly to be upset over i know, but im in here at this location every day due to convenience of how close it is. it's extremely uncomfortable and inappropriate !!! read more

Pretty good gym. It's not the fanciest planet fitness but far from the worst I've been to. Temperature inside is good and all the staff are really nice. My only complaint is that multiple machines only go up to 100lbs. Especially for leg machines, that doesn't allow for much progression. read more

To June S, the managers and employees are not the issue. This location isn't corporate owned, it holds the Planet Fitness name but doesn't get the same resources as other ones you might be used to. It's owned by a millionaire named Luke Urban who also owns a couple other PFs around here. He lives In Pennsylvania and never comes to see his property so he has no idea the problems that are actually going on. The managers don't have any contact to anyone who can ever fix anything because any repairs on the building are up to the property owner, who's cheap and like I said doesn't care about the gym. That being said, the gym is practically self run by a 25ish year old manager and a couple great employees, they fix as many machines as they can but they don't get serviced by professionals because again... cheap owner. Definitely the friendliest and most personable staff compared to any location I've been to!!! - Their showers and locker rooms are nasty. The same clump of hair was in the shower for over a week. Very seldom do I ever leave a bad remark but this particular planet fitness is hot garbage. When we first moved to the area my fiancé went in there to make it her home gym and when she was asked her t shirt size by the staff was laughed at when she gave it to the female staff member... so much for a no judgement zone. My fiancé hasn't been back since. Several weeks ago I was in the gym and asked the "Trainer" if he knew the weight of the only leg press sled in the facility. He told me it was "about 45lbs" I asked him "are you sure because I've been to other PF in the area and not only do they have the sled weight posted on the machine but they also range from 90-125lbs." He then proceeds to push on it and says "oh ya that's about 100lbs." He then told me that the weight of the bar on the smith machine is 45lbs. The weight of an Olympic barbell is 45lbs. The weight of a smith machine bar varies between 10 and 20lbs. Again incorrect information. There is no excuse for not knowing your equipment and a trainer who doesn't know their equipment and gives people bad information is a dangerous thing. The trainer incident put a bad taste in my mouth and since then I'd been on the look out for a new gym. Today after signing up for a new gym and a $400 personal trainer I went into PF to cancel my membership. The employee at the desk asked me why I was leaving. I voiced my concerns and then told her I had been bothered by the lack of knowledge on the part of the trainer. She proceeded to enter a few things into the computer and told me I was all set. A few hours go by and I see email from PF confirming my cancellation. I opened it up to confirm everything was correct only to find the reason left on the paperwork was that "I could not afford to continue the membership" what a joke. I loved both other PFs I was a member at but this one is horrible. read more

Worst fucking gym on the planet. I was only at the gym for 5 minutes when someone somehow got my heavy duty fire proof lock off the gym locker and stole all my cash(millions worth) and multiple gold plated jewelry such as rolexes. and the next day I was at the gym for less than 30 minutes and it happened again and this time they stole more of my watches and some more cash. and this happened like 3 more times with more stuff getting stolen and when I went to complain they said it wasnt their problem and they have nothing to do with it. and then A week or 2 ago the manager wouldnt let me excercise unless I payed my full balance that I owed so I payed it. And the other girl said I couldnt buy a gatorade otherwise. so I payed off my full balance( maybe 500$ worth of late fees) and the next day I go in there and she said I owe 600 more $ and its 42 days over due. Ok you mean 5 minutes over drafted soon as I enter the gym she charges me. Ok well they cant even lie correctly because it cant be 42 days over due if I just payed the full balance yesterday. and she wouldnt tell me which months I was paying for or what I was paying for. And she had a coworker lie and say yesterday I only paid partial and the other girl who wouldnt let me buy a gatorade otherwise also lied and said I paid partial. Ok then why the fuck did they let me work out then or buy a gatorade because I doubt if I paid a penny of my balance that time they would let me excercise or buy a gatorade. The conversation went you have to pay your balance or else you cant excercise or buy a gatorade and I even saw the screen say I owed 0$ after I payed my balance that day so I know she was lying. So I had to cancel my gym membership and I went later that night and the manager admit that the lady charged me on her own and I didnt actually owe money so thank god I didnt go along with it. Plus it's not even 24 hour and they advertised it as if it was. Dont work there either, I got fired for no reason. I wouldnt reccomend this gym. Hit me up theres more things wrong with this gym, all the emoloyees smoke weed so does management: I gave this gym 0 stars but its forcing me to give at least 1 maybe so they can have the confidence to argue back because they know my review is the truth and they can't say shit back. read more

I've gone to this gym for years, but this location has gone down hill over the last year. The gym is supposed to open at 5am, but no one ever shows up to actually open it. I've had to start driving to the Montgomery location because no one ever opens the gym anymore. When the gym does open it's filthy, the equipment is never put away, it's obvious no one cares. Fantastic Health Club!! For the past 20yrs I have been going to gyms in Naperville/Aurora area and this one is THE BEST one! It is a solid FRESH new gym, not a remodel or rehash of an old grocery store, and best of all does not feel like a prison. Location is very easily accessible, friendly, perky, and always courteous staff and members as well, always impressed with their bright clean locker room, and a warm shower. Nothing more I could ask for. This is money VERY well spent, I recommend this location to all my family and friends. read more

This is my home gym. Although I live in the city, I work out here and prefer this location over the others I have tried. Almost always clean, and if it's not, there is already someone working on it. It's a smaller location, and tends to be pretty busy, sometimes I can't get my machine, but it's not terrible. Also, the employees are friendly enough. 9/7/21 0600 - No one shows up to open the gym. Someone that is an adult needs to come to the gym from time to time. They gym is absolutely filthy, the "clean gym" pledge must be an absolute joke. Last week (when someone was actually there to open) the young girls working came and pushed masks in everyone's face. Funny, because if you touch the doors to come into the club (which are NEVER cleaned) you are most likely infected with all the germs in Chicagoland. Equipment broken with post it notes, mirrors filthy with handprints from years ago, and locker rooms that are just... filthy. The middle shower in the Mens room has been broken for weeks and there is rarely hot water to shower. I have tried to ask the staff to fix the issues, I have emailed Planet Fitness, but no one responds. Hopefully someone on here will. read more

Pluses: *friendly staff *plenty of cardio/weight equipment including mats & free weights *clean *pleasant ambiance including a Lot of tvs & space *excellent price *excellent location *not too crowded, at least not during weekday mornings *open 24/7 *like to walk or jog outside? There's a very nice subdivision/park/path right behind P.F. Can't really think of any minuses though I wouldn't mind an expanded locker room. This gym, while claiming to be "judgment-free" zone, I received the most judgmental comments from Eric the front desk attendant. I can't breathe heavy while running on the tread mill? I can't exhale out loud while lifting weights? I was minding my own business, but Eric the attendant kept pressing that "lunk alarm" button at me. Why was I paying them to embarrass me? They also give out lollipops at the front desk. Doesn't that defeat the whole point of working out? Since the last incident, Eric the front desk attendant is gone, but goes to show that management needs to hire employees and train them to remember that customers are what pays their bills. I have been going to this location for years and I have finally had enough. The customer service is horrible. No one is ever at the front desk in the morning. The staff will either leave a note with number to contact in case of emergency or they are sitting in the massage chairs. Also, the lights in the showers have been out for months causing me not to work out before work anymore. I have complained and asked multiple times about the lights and nothing has been done. I refuse to shower in the dark therefore I will just need to find a new location or gym that actually keep up with maintenance. read more

This is a good Planet Fitness location. They have lots of weight machines, free weights and cardio equipment to get in a good workout. The workout equipment is in good condition and the club is always clean. The only reason I am giving them 4 stores instead of 5 stars is because they don't have individual TV's on the cardio equipment. I prefer that to being limited to the stations on the big TV's that they have in the cardio area. I would recommend this place if you are looking for a good fitness center at a reasonable price. read more

This gym sucks , it's not like the Naperville location I loved that location but now I moved to aurora and this location looks ghetto half the Machines don't work and the running machines don't have TVs connected with them so you have to look at the TV on the ceiling . The Naperville location had TVs connected to the machines . It's a cheap gym so you get what you pay for . This is my first time joining a planet fitness, and this location seems great! Plenty of equipment and not crowded. Staff has been very nice and Reese who took me on a tour before I signed up was very polite, professional and an excellent ambassador to new members. This location also has the hydromassage chairs and beds, as well as tanning and some new fitness whatever I haven't tried yet, but looks interesting. read more

Typical run down gym that has zero customer service. was a member here for a couple months, moved further west not in proximity to any planet fitness, so wanted to cancel. walked into the closest Planet fitness to me in, was told i had to go the my home club to cancel. Drove out and canceled my membership. a year and a half later i see a charge for my membership dues. look into it further and they have been charging me ever since. its 100% on me for not realizing it or trusting the fact that the membership was cancelled. however when i reached out to the club, the regional Jordan Coon, and the director of operations Brice Meyer. All of which basically told me to pound sand they don't have a cancellation on file and no refund will be issued. if you decide to join, be aware it is the type of gym who hopes you join and don't come. zero care in actually helping members achieve goals or quality of customer service. read more

Why does the Annual membership date keep changing all the time. You state that it's 10.00 a month plus a 39.00 membership fee at time of enrollment. Then 2 or 3 months later the annual date changes again and you have to pay another 39.00 annual fee. So in reality your paying 198.00 per rather than 159.00 a year and paying the annual fee twice In less than 3 months. Is that fair to keep changing the membership annual date. I was looking to call corporate but no number listed. Instead you have to call the fitness center where some employees are lost for words. What's up with that!! If you are looking for a gym with no commitments this is the place. They have plenty of workout machines. The girls at the service desk are nice and friendly. The gym is clean. I have come to workout twice since I got my membership. However, I think providing customers with a towel to clean the machine would be better then using a paper towel. read more

I came to leave my review and was not surprised to see only 2.5 stars. I tried to cancel my membership over the phone on the 9th. They told me I had to come in or mail a letter so I dropped off a letter on the 11th to ensue my bases were covered. They then took out another payment on the 17th saying I had to cancel by the 10th. Very sketchy, very rude and very poor customer service. Good customer service would have been to cancel my membership over the phone or at the very least, tell me it had to be done by the 10th to not get charged for another month that I will not be using their gym. My husband and I went to the gym specifically to do the 30 minute work out. The cardio equipment was packed. The regular machines were pretty empty. My husband and I used to work out regularly but injuries caused us to gain weight. We are now back to getting in shape again, and chose Planet Fitness for its excellent price and the fact that we could do a full work out in 30 minutes. We were told that the area is monitored to make sure it's used by people doing the 30 minute work out. We came into the area, and I started at number 1. I set my water at number 2, so it was ready for me. While I was stepping, another member came in and sat down at machine 2. I knew the member wasn't doing the routine because I saw him sitting on another machine for a while. I moved to machine 16, and he stayed there for my next 2-3 rotations. At that point, I was pretty upset. The area had 3 people just sitting at the machines. The same machines that were completely open at the front of the gym. Once my husband was finishing machine 15, a new person came in and sat at machine 17, and sat there for the next 3-4 rotations. We were pretty upset at that point, and felt as though we couldn't get a good work out. My husband went to the front desk where he spoke to three gentlemen.He explained the concern and asked for their help. They came over, watched us for 3 seconds, shrugged their shoulders, laughed at us, and walked away. At that point, my response was, "Are you kidding me? These machines are open at the front." They said they didn't know who wasn't doing the circuit, and I told them that no one was except for the two of us. At that point, the three employees laughed again, picked up some dumbbells and walked away. My husband and I finished our circuit. We have now realized that there is absolutely no respect or organization or customer service at this gym. We were the only Caucasian members in that area. I'm guessing that could be part of the reason. We are also currently overweight, as I already mentioned, so they might not have wanted to take us seriously. I don't know the reasoning, but we are absolutely appalled. We felt as though our concerns were completely ignored and disregarded. As we were walking out, I asked for their names and suggested that in the future, I would probably not laugh at the members. I also suggested that if I were in their shoes and saw members using the 30-minute work out area when the regular machines were empty, I would show them the regular machines because my assumptions would be that the members don't know any better. I would teach people about the machines and their locations. During my conversation with them, one of the employees continued to smirk at us. The members hogging the machines happens. It's tough to control people. But the behavior of the staff made us feel like we were interrupting them, and made us feel intimidated and embarrassed for ever bringing them into the situation. I sent in a letter in Jan 2020 canceling my membership. It was sent certified so it was received. I even called to confirm. The person I spoke to said that it would cancel at the end of my term because if I canceled before then, I would end up paying more than just waiting. Come to find out, my membership was not canceled. I was charged for Feb 2020 and March 2020. The gyms were not even open for a full month but yet I was charged. The regional manager known as Torres REFUSED to refund me my money. Not even for the month the gym was closed. How nasty can a person be. I was charge a renewal fee when my membership did not renew.
