I figured it's finally time to get back into the gym again, can't use Covid as an excuse anymore. Having a membership prior to Covid, signing up for PF again was super easy. Just had to fill out a few forms and I was good to go. Once I walked in again, I realized the old Sally's that neighbored this gym is gone and they've expanded it quite a bit. It looks great! Listen, for 10 bucks a month - you can't beat it. They've got all new machines and also added more in total. The locker rooms got a nice makeover and they've added much more equipment than before. The most important part - it's still clean. Everyone does their part as guests and the cleaning crew is always on top of it here. Still a great gym in my opinion! read more

I use this gym as an alternate to my home gym because it's on my way to work. It's decent and not too crowded in the morning. Occasionally I'll see a broken machine, but not usually. I signed up for the black card membership because I knew I'd want to stop in here occasionally. I go in and use the resistance machines. I don't use the cardio equipment because I don't have the time, so I leave that for when I'm at my main gym. I don't interact with anyone so I can't remark on the workers. I scan in, I work out, I leave. That's it. I see some bad reviews here and I have to say, it's not that bad at all. If they could occasionally ask the people who sit on a machine scrolling on their phone to move along, it would make things better, but it's rarely so crowded when I go that I can't find another machine to use. read more

This Planet Fitness location is amazing! It's located in a small strip with lots of parking. They recently went through a complete renovation and all of the machines are brand new. The gym is very spacious, so even when it's busy at night it doesn't feel cramped. The staff is really friendly and helpful. My biggest reason for choosing this gym was the cleanliness. I'm getting in shape and prefer to workout in the morning so I joined planet fitness because they open at 5am. This location was recently renovated and feels a lot more spacious than before. They have plenty of new machines, different workout sections for circuit training, stretching, etc. Most importantly for me, it's CLEAN. Bathrooms, machines and locker rooms are all well kept. This is a good place for anyone just starting out and for more experienced people too. If you want to workout in private (as private as it can get for a public gym) then you can go to a different area in one of the back sections. If you're less selfconscious than I am lol then feel free to hit the main floor. There are mirrors throughout and lots of windows to give the space an open and airy feel. read more

I'm a black card member and this is not my home gym but I go occasionally if I am in Belleville. Every time I try to tan they have a problem and haven't been able to solve this. Newly opened 24 hour gym in belleville, nj. The monthly rate is $10 and there's an annual membership fee of $29. Or, you can open a power black membership which you pay $20 a month and an annual of $39. Annual membership fees are billed only once s year. The difference between the $10 vs $20 plan is that for $20, you can go to any planet fitness facilities, you can bring one guest with you to the gym, plus there's perks of 50% off your shake drinks, (there's also massages/tanning perks). All fees are billed to your checking account so remember to bring a blank check if you want to join this planet fitness. The place looks clean and machines are new. Hope management keeps it like this as the place is still new. I was surprise at the number of treadmills in here because the facility looks small from outside. There are plenty of TV screens. The downsides are there's no free weights here (which really their sales pitch of no meat heads lol but I miss using Dumbbells at times). There's no daycare so it's a challenge with babysitting if I decide to join here. The parking lot doesn't accommodate many cars as its shared parking with other mall shoppers. To your response to call, call who? I'm not one to write reviews, however I find it extremely necessary! I have been trying to cancel my membership for the location in Belleville NJ for some time now. When I've called I have explained that I no longer live in the area, that I live over an hour away and no longer wish to have the membership. One person told me that I needed to come into the location to cancel. I tried to call the corporate number and it says you have to contact your home gym. Once again I called to state that I wanted to cancel and was told that they could place a hold on the account and I would then need to send in a letter stating I wanted to cancel, and I had three months to do so. This was just last week. Today I was charged $30.92, after they just told me the account would be frozen and I would not receive any charges for the next three months. Today when I called to explain the charge I was informed that the person should have told me that I would be charged an annual fee even if the account was frozen. The young lady then explained that I can transfer the account to my current town and have them cancel the account!!!!!! My question or issue is why is it after three calls and $30.92 that I was told that there was nothing that they could do to refund my money and that it should have been explained that there would still be a charge for the annual fees. So I had to go to the local gym in my town and have it transferred, and then canceled, however the charge of $30.92 could not be reverse. I tried to do my part and if I was told the correct information I could have avoided the unnecessary charges that seem to be unimportant to the incompetent people who work in this location. I never liked the service there and the machines were always nasty and dirty. Every time I went there I felt like I was going to catch some kind of disease. The parking sucked and the smell was alway putrid and made me nauseous. More than likely they don't wish to refund my $30.92 because I was dissatisfied with the location and wanted to cancel, or the people that work there are just incompetent! While the money may not be a great amount, it is the principle at this point that they would disregard the fact that I was told the incorrect information and was billed unnecessarily and told there is nothing they can do about it. I want my money back and I want nothing to do with your nasty location! read more

The bathrooms are cleaner than the one in Clifton. I prefer the showers here though the one in Clifton has a larger 'relaxation and tanning' area if either of those are your thing. The wifi is also better here. read more

I still enjoy going to PF I tried to go early or late to avoid the crowds and that works for me. Those that complain about the parking I have never had to walk more that a few hundred feet. Guess what people THE WALK IS A WARM UP TO YOUR WORKOUT. A little exercise like a walk to the gym may help you achieve you goal. This gym is well maintained and clean. Gym wasn't all that bad I just wish it had more machines. Very limited when it came to the different types of machines. Another issue was that the spray to clean the machines was always gone for some reason and you have to go across the gym to find it. Price is good for only 10$. I came in last Sat night, and had my locker broken into (only there for half hour). The front desk did not so much as blink an eye and left a bit to be desired. I would highly be skeptical of ever coming back here, as there was no effort made to find my missing stuff. The woman cleaning the bathroom that day however, was having a full conversation on her phone and vaping while working. Very unprofessional on her part. Intro: I've been a Planet Fitness member for a year and have tried 4 different locations. It's an affordable chain. It's a 24-hr gym for $10 a month and an annual fee of $29 (Power Black Card: $20/$39). Very little expectation. Pro: It's important to keep in mind that this location opened not too long ago. With that said, this is by far the best location I've been to. It seems larger than the others (Bayonne, North Bergen, Hoboken) I've been to. If you've ever been inside a Planet Fitness or any of the branded fitness facilities, the variety of machines becomes a bit redundant. What begins to matter is how many the facility actually has. This is what makes this location so efficient. There are plenty of machines and no wait. Given, they may not have as many patrons as other locations. Nevertheless, it seems even during peak hours, a steady influx and efflux of gym rats and the health conscious alike keep the facility on its toes. Spacious. Clean. Friendly staff. Brand spankin' new. To add, the complex is located a few stores from a GNC, Subway, and Food Basic for your pre-workout needs and post-workout grub. Con: It's brand new. Immune. This is a very good, safe, and clean gym and the staff is very friendly. The equipment is well maintained and staff walks the floor consistently to assure that the areas are clean of debris and the machines are wiped down. Transportation: The only Con, which has nothing to do with the gym, is that you need to have a car. They have adequate parking. If you do not have a car I would strongly recommend UBER or other Cab services when leaving the facility at night if your are traveling outside of Belleville. DO NOT take the #13 Bus into Newark or through Newark to get to this gym location. I would advise you to take the Newark Light Rail to Branch Brook Park Station (located in Bloomfield, NJ) and take an Uber from there (about $8). The moment you pass into that horrible Newark Ghetto (broadway route) you will be robbed as soon as you step off the bus. There are no pay phones in the Newark area and no one will assist you in calling the police. Newark, as it appears, has 3 active police officers at night so if you're in a compromised situation (robbery victim) you will have to summons an ambulance to take you to the hospital only then will the police respond. Belleville, where the gym is located, is very safe and the police presence is visual. In fact a police precinct is right around the corner. This is a common misconception that the gym is not safe because its less than a mile away from Newark. Area: There is a K-Mart across the street should you need any gym accessories that you have either lost or forgotten. When planet fitness has locks in stock they are much cheaper than K-Mart by $5. There's also a grocery store and a GNC in the same plaza. However, if you're a black card member, I would strongly advise that you purchase your zero calorie waters from the gym which is much cheaper than the stores in the area. There's also a dunkin donuts at the corner of the plaza should you need coffee. read more

This gym has the absolute worst customer service I have ever had to deal with. I've recently moved from Jersey to Maryland, and didn't have the chance to cancel my membership in person because I'd completely forgotten about my gym membership due to the stresses of moving that took precedence at the time. When I looked online on the *official* Planet Fitness website, I saw that I could just mail them a letter stating my wish to cancel my membership and all would be well. Neat! So, I did just that. I was checking my bank account a few days ago, and saw this "- $10.70" charge on my checking account. "Oh no," I said. "That can't be planet fitness, I canceled my membership over two weeks ago!" Lo and behold, it was Planet Fitness. Not many things I subscribe to charge exactly $10, not including the 7% state tax, so I wasn't really surprised. I wasn't too annoyed by it, since I wasn't going to be bankrupt by those ten dollars, but I did give them a call and asked what was up. The first time, it was late and the managers, understandably, weren't there. That's fine. I called again the next day after lunch time, but they STILL weren't there. "Try again later today." Okay??? So, I did just that - and I finally got a hold of one of them. I told them my situation, and the response was fairly simple. "You didn't send it as certified mail." He's right - I didn't. But, the (again) *OFFICIAL* Planet Fitness website did not claim it was required, only preferred. "Nope, it has to be certified for us." Whether or not that's even allowed is beyond me - but the worst part is, I mentioned in my letter that if there were any issues, they could contact me at either my email or by phone to let me know. The fact that the staff could not take 30 seconds to just call me and let me know that I would have to send another letter really peeves me, and really speaks for how terrible the staff at this location is. I'm so disappointed by the lack of decency in the people who work here, and I will absolutely NEVER deal with Planet Fitness again. RIP. read more

This is the first gym I've personay joined and I haven't had too many complaints. I never joined before because the monthly fee was too pricey and I don't always get to go as often as I'd like sometimes. But with this one only being $10 a month, I couldn't say no because even if I don't get to the gym much one month, it's only $10 which isn't a huge loss. It being open 24 hours is also a plus so I can come and go at my leisure without every feeling pressured to go due to cost or unable to go due to timeframe. The staff is usually pretty friendly thougb they've had an "issue" with my membership keychain multiple times now and keep telling me "Oh I see, someone entered the info wrong. That's why it won't work. Let me re-enter it to fix it." How can my keychain work for 2 months straight without issue then suddenly not be valid? When I tell them it's worked fine every other time they look perplexed at me as to how that's possible. I've been through 3 membership cards in 6 months with this same problem. Not a huge deal since it's resolved right away but still weird. They also have yet to give me my free t-shirt and it's been 6+ months. Everytime I go I ask if they got any size Small shirts in and they always say No. But anyway, the place is nice and well kept but it gets incredibly packed at peak hours. And there's a lot of people who like to sit on machines and text or just look around for extended periods of time which prevents others from using those machines. I wouldn't mind if they were actually using the machines but if you're just gonna sit on it to text for 20 min, you should go sit in the seating area by the front and give others the chance to use the machine. Overall though I've enjoyed coming here. I live 3 blocks from it so it's only a 5 min walk there so I never need to worry about parking and it's all the more reason to go since it's so close. I would recommend the gym. I haven't truly had any real issues or problems that made a severe negative impact. read more

There are just too many missed opportunities to step up and differentiate themselves from other gyms. There a million gym options out there so the selling point for me is customer service. - If I don't have my member number you should offer to call my home location; don't tell me "you need to call them" - you should have a location directory readily available... This gym could be great but that will never be the case. It lacks more employees to chase all the weights all over the gym since it's clients don't have gym etiquette. Individuals take dumbells from rack like they own them. You are supposed to use the weights and after each set rack them so someone else can use them while you look at your phone for 5 minutes.
