My 2nd PF gym experience and the one that has my vote. When it comes to staff friendliness, this place takes the cake. The machines are also newer, well-maintained and has fans. The crowd etiquette here is also pretty exemplary with most gym goers wiping before and after. This place comes with 3 floors. The first floor is where you check in. The lower floor is where the locker rooms, spa, and gym machines are located. The second floor also has gym machines but mostly treadmills, some abs/leg machines, and areas for mats.   In regards to the spa here, this place has a cryochair which is pretty interesting. read more

Came this location this afternoon for the first time after discovering that the Hoyt street location was closed. It's about an 11 minute walk from the previous downtown Brooklyn location. I think it's cool how the stair master machine is right outside of the locker rooms. However, this location seems cramped. People are sort of on top of each other. I've been at this location for about a year now, and I really enjoy it. As for overcrowding, I've used the "Crowd Meter" on the app and found it to be accurate. The gym is always clean, and I often see staff walking around cleaning equipment. Today I had an excellent session with personal trainer Nick, who listened to what I needed, assessed my situation accurately, and is setting up a program for me - along with a printout of the program and the equipment to use. Nick is very knowledgeable and he's a good ambassador for Planet Fitness. read more

This place used to be great, but they closed a nearby location and now allow kids over 14 for the summer, so it is now a madhouse; you can't get to the equipment because of the crowds and lines of folks trying to use them, kids hanging out in groups, loud music, no locker room space, broken lockers. They closed the Duffield Street branch so this location is overcrowded. Granted, it's a bargain rate but who cares if the place is always mobbed... that plus free use of the gym by high school students for the summer making it that much more crowded. This WAS my favorite location it was so calm, relaxed gym to excercise at. The summers were a bit much with the free high school kids program but I dealt with it. BUT now it's insane, overly-packed, very unrelaxing , loud, cramped. This is because they closed a nearby location. Something has to be done about this, it doesn't feel safe. People standing in aisles waiting for you to get off your machine. Every machine used It doesn't matter what time of day you go!!! I love this Planet Fitness location. It's not far from most trains and they have a decent amount of machines. The staff is friendly and in my opinion they offer the best customer service out of the other planet fitness locations I've been to. At this location you never have to worry about broken machines. If you're a black card member, do yourself a favor and try the hydro massage machine. It feels amazing after a work out and I find myself feeling less sore the next day. read more

The location near Albee Square was my home gym. It was perfect and spacious. They "moved locations" to this gym with no notice or email sent to members. This gym is a shoebox. All the machines are so close together you can barely pass. Always a packed. Even more so now that they just dumped the previous locations members here. Not many locations downtown Brooklyn. Definitely canceling my membership and moving to Crunch. Still respect Planet Fitnesses brand if you can't afford somewhere else. read more

If I could rate this particular located on Boerum Place, Brooklyn, I would give it No Stars. The customer service sucks. I asked to cancel my membership and they told me I couldn't do it over the phone. Then proceeded to tell me to come to the located. I show up at the location for them to give me a hard time and say that cancelling is not possible at that time. They have been billing me for months. Finally I go back to the location. The lady at the desk tells that Im good to go with the cancellation. Just to find out the next month that they are still billing my bank card into a negative. I finally call again for the manager to get back to me 5 hours later to say that there is no record of my cancellation and that I cannot get a refund on the money they took. Planet Fitness should be investigating. They should hiring better staff. Those teens there have no communication skills and poor management. read more

Apologies for the long review but I'm honestly still really hurt and upset and wanted to give as much information as I could. I changed my 5 star review to 1 star on google a couple of days ago for this location, and got advice from Planet Fitness' response to contact management and managed to do that. I had the most dishonest, most disrespectful and most dismissive phone conversation from the manager from this location. I was lied to, I was talked over, and I had my valid complaints completely looked over and dismissed by her instead of at least trying to make things right. I'm even more upset than I already was. As my review on google explains, I walked into the 66 Boerum place location on a rainy 7/8/2022 and was informed by an employee after trying to check in using their broken scanning that they "only allowed sneakers in the gym" and that she previously saw me working out with my rainboots a few times before and wanted to let me know that they "only allowed sneakers." I left upset because this is false (according to the FAQs on the website) and I didn't understand why she would watch me exercise (which is EXTREMELY creepy) wearing my boots instead of just simply approaching me to ask me to wear sneakers next time I come in. After repeated attempts to contact management over the weekend, I was called back today and after trying to express my concerns, the manager said that the employee "was doing the right thing" by telling me that they "do not allow rainboots." I reiterated the PF FAQS, which said they don't allow anything "offensive, rude, open toed, or hazardous." And I said that the employee explicitly said that they "only allow sneakers" (which is a lie), not that they "don't allow rainboots." The manager then CHANGED HER STORY and said that that "that is true; we only allow sneakers." Then she said that the "notice" was located at the elevator. I asked her, "Why would an important piece of information not be located at the door so that more people could see it??" She openly acknowledged this. She then CHANGED HER STORY AGAIN and said that this "notice" that I've never seen before was located at the front desk. I asked her why her employee would stare me down working out in my rainboots several times instead of telling me there was a possible problem. Manager had no answer for this. Instead, she constantly interrupted me and talked over me. I said that I would file a complaint to Planet Fitness and instead of trying to compensate or make things right for the major inconvenience, she simply kept saying "ok, you can do that. Send it to corporate." Just more excuses and lies. No accommodation, nothing. I was so upset, irritated and annoyed that I decided to hang up as she said the same thing over and over again. I've been a loyal member of Planet fitness for nearly ten years. I've never been disrespected and lied to like this by anybody in my entire life. This location needs a SERIOUS revamp concerning customer service and honesty. This was my favorite location, too. :( I'm still really upset. read more

The Planet Fitness at 66 Boreum Place is my local Planet Fitness. It also has the distinction of becoming the worst Planet Fitness I have experienced. It is not because the facilities suck. They are actually quite nice. It is not because the staff is horrible. They are ,for the most part, young men and women trying to get paid. It is because if you are training after 2:00 pm , or there about's, the gym is packed with teenagers under the age of 18, who probably outnumber the adult members by 7 to 1. They are, for the most part, there to socialize more than they are there to workout. They have very little understanding of gym etiquette, and they make it almost impossible to get on any piece of equipment with any regularity. I have been training in gyms for a lot of years from NY to LA, and I have never seen a situation worse than this. Now before you thinking that I hate teenagers, I don't. I do hate having to abandon all or part of my workout because 6 kids are all using one piece of equipment...and this is going on everywhere in the gym.I know Planet Fitness could care less about the wants and needs of their adult paying members because the kids are bringing in money, but this situation truly sucks. read more

Purchased a black card membership and was told when I moved that I could transfer the membership to the gym closest to my new residence. Fast forward, I move, try to transfer my base membership and I'm told I have to wait until my annual membership is up in order to do that. This was not what I was told when I purchased an annual membership. I was told that I could transfer at any time as I was planning to move being that I am sick and tired of dodging drug addicts, crazy people, and specifically right outside this gym, seeing people take dumps in broad daylight on the street corner. read more

This is a decent gym. Nice staff that keeps the space clean. Early mornings are awesome because it's not too crowded and I don't have to wait for weights. This is a no frills gym so bring your own lock, towel and toiletries if you plan to shower there. read more

The one at 249 was down so luckily this one is a 10 min walk away. The black card spa is downstairs with the bench and weights and machines. The one thing that's a hassle is that if u want to use the hydromassager you have to go upstairs to front desk to get permission and then if you want to use the total body next, you have to go back upstairs to get permission. I came here Labor Day weekend Sunday noon and it was pretty empty. I love the spacious and clean environment. read more

It's well kept, although there are a few bad weeds who leave behind paper towels on the machines. I've gotta update again, as I feel like things have improved again and I love the gym. Most of the machines I've tried work now...not all but most. As I mentioned in my last update, the lovely cleaner at night (David) who also provides coverage at the front desk is great, he really keeps the gym consistently clean. If you've been to other gyms in this price point (or even more expensive gyms, you will appreciate the cleaning crew's efforts here. It's a huge space and David's very thorough and diligent (I assume the daytime cleaners are too). Serena at the front desk in middle of the night today actually prompted this update because she handled four different small issues I was having so quickly, confidently, and cheerfully (changing credit card on file, getting me sorted on the app so i can check-in more quickly, answering a question about connectivity, etc.). She's intelligent, super personable, and welcoming. i can't remember the other nighttime front desk staff member's name but she's great too (so sweet). I am so grateful to be able to work out in the middle of the night in such a safe, welcoming and also pretty great looking gym for an extremely inexpensive monthly fee. You will never find a gym in NYC that has individual tv screens on the cardio machines for this price and it's one of the only Planet Fitnesses in the city that has these. The top floor in particular feels like a premium gym that costs 5X the price. I love the TRS area downstairs and as an update to a complaint in my original glowing review, the gym now has a couple of decent rowing machines! Thanks to management for clearly improving things to match pre-Covid standards, and for hiring great people. Last thing is that the gym enforces the state's Covid vaccine requirements, once you prove that you have been fully vaccinated, it's on file and you never have to show proof again, which is convenient. Tons of cardio on the top and bottom floor, but there are also a good amount of manual machines and weights, great for an all around workout. Staff is also super helpful and chill when necessary. This location is just alright. The machines have an odd layout, with things that should be fairly close to each other not really there, but the Smith machines and similar workout devices are well maintained and kept fairly clean. They shut down the Livingston St location for this one (with no emails to the general public), and that place I really liked. Boerum has an odd energy to it, but then again I've only been during the overnight..def some oddballs in there then. At least the staff is polite. read more

Did not know that they moved the gym from the Livingston street location over here. Luckily enough it isn't a long walk. This location is a lot bigger than I initially thought, with a downstairs and upstairs with a lot of running equipment on both floors. At the time we went, there were a lot of machines and weights available to use so that made me happy. A lot of gyms are overcrowded at certain times and I was well aware that we should be in the clear in the afternoon despite it being President's day. Nothing else to really review here. Clean equipment, clean benches, nobody grunting or talking loudly, it was a great gym experience. I got in, ran, lifted, stretched and got out. read more

I am a new member to the steinway location and never have an issue with them.I use to run gyms and understand how sometimes things can go missed. When I first arrived at this location I was saddened to see how much this employee seemed like he didnt want to help or be welcoming at all. It was like pulling teeth just to learn about the gym. I also informed him it was the first time I ever came to this location. But that I can honestly get over it could just be a bad day. What I cant accept is how unsanitary the showers were. I am mad I didnt take a picture. The grime that was growing up the wall clearly shows the showers haven't been cleaned in weeks. 1)sell towels!!!!!! 2)set up a chart to show your guest's the bathrooms are cleaned and times. 3) you have done an amazing job with everything else in the gym. I'm new here but already not a fan. The women's bathroom is disgusting. I go after work but it doesn't mean that they shouldn't be kept clean. Especially during these times! The ceiling tiles over the sink are growing bacteria. But I think what beats that is the young staff at the front desk yelling and playing where you can literally hear the horseplay from the floor above and beneath where they are. I am a member of PF at Boerum Place from Dec 2018. I very like to work out there. On Dec 30th, 2019 my wallet and case from AirPods was stolen while unattended. When I came back - it was not there. I was walking around, next day I called twice, new manager promised to call me and did not. Yesterday I came to speak with them. David (new manager) said that he does not have access to cameras, just owner can watch cctv, but he is not there. From 2019 I saw about 7 new managers, they coming and leaving, every month new people at reception. Nobody cares about reputation. They cannot watch max 2 hours of video from cameras? Maybe my wallet and the case was stolen by stuff? And they cover someone! Please, watch the cameras! Investigate! Take actions! read more

I was really interested in signing up at this location for a membership but decided against it. I visited this location the other day, while I was there a member was at the front desk complaining that he had been robbed, hmmm. I know that this happens & can happen at any gym but what really made me decide that this location wasn't for me was when the receptionist said that it happens all the time. She also stated that water bottles are being stolen as well. Really? Who actually steals someone else's water bottle? The facility is really nice with lots of machines but I don't want to workout & have to worry about my belongings especially a water bottle. read more

I've stopped going to the Planet Fitness near me as it's been quite disgusting and crowded that it's been a turn off, but when my fiance told me that Planet Fitness opened a location near his office and about 30-40 minutes away from us I said sure, let's go check it out. We came on a Saturday afternoon and it was actually quite empty. Staff was friendly and welcoming. It was pretty clean, organized, and didn't smell horrible inside like it does in my local Planet Fitness. The gym is actually quite big, I believe it's three floors from what I remember. The workout machines and devices are fairly clean and similar to the ones that I've seen in other Planet Fitness facilities. In addition, this Planet Fitness is easy to get to by public transportation. It's close to Jay Street- MetroTech and Borough Hall/Court Street. If you drive to this gym, you have to be very lucky to get a good spot. Overall, I liked the cleanliness and space at this Planet Fitness. Hopefully, it'll stay clean and properly maintained. I would much rather come to this Planet Fitness than my local one. read more

This is a clean facility and the greeters there are nice....most of the time. However, their management is terrible! I've had to fight for a refund for weeks. And no one really follows up with your phone call. I've left literally 10 unreturned calls. I got my card stolen, and while trying to communicate to PF I was waiting for a card they charged me a late fee (this is after many associates said they've notated in my account). I've tried to explain my case multiple times, but was met with a short manager who would just say "well you could have gone online and put your info in our system" (I am not comfortable giving a gym my entire account number). When I finally got a refund it was thorough a temp manager at their other branch. But EVEN THEN, this refund has yet to happen and it's been almost a month. Clearly, management doesn't prioritize communicating with one another, nonetheless their customers. I am met with confusion, condescension, or an ignored phone call at best. Classes are limited to weekdays. Probably one of the worst customer service I've ever received at any business establishment. In one other occurrence I had a gentleman be extremely rude to me during closing. It so happen that I was the only Asian female he wanted to reprimand, as he left everyone else alone. If you have the funds I would advise going somewhere else, because the headache is not worth it! Do not bother responding to their social@ email, bc it'll just lead to even more frustration, they cannot do anything for you. read more

I have not been in Brooklyn long so it was important for me to find a gym that has everything I need for my workout. I have tried three gyms in the area. Recently "Planet Fitness- Boerum" off Atlantic Avenue, opened. I must say I'm impressed with the shear size and equipment they offer. It's two floors of workout wonder. They also have a beautiful Black Card Spa area to relax after a hard workout, it's the nicest I've seen in all my travels. This location quickly became my goto in Brooklyn. I come early and I haven't met the manager, so I can't speak in the customer service side. But what I will say is this is the only "Planet Fitness" I've been to where there is someone vacuuming and cleaning daily. I hope this continues because I feel this gym can set the standard for the rest of the poorly run facilities around the area.
