Whenever I visit a PF out of my regular area, Sis and I always have problems checking in because the machine can't understand our QR code. Finally we found someone who understood the problem. He said the number for our QR code was too long- that usually it's just our telephone number so it's easy to tap us in, but our codes have a wonky set of letters and numbers. He recommended we go to our host gym and have them fix that to avoid future problems. Thank you for someone finally knowing how to fix our problem. For that alone I'm giving them four stars. Pretty gross when people need to use the bathrooms but there's no soap in the dispensers! Also, so many people hogging equipment forever because they take a 10 min break in between each set and are on their phones the whole time. I am a person who enjoys routine. I come to the Kent location at 5AM averaging 3-4 times a week since the beginning of the year. I updated my membership to black card just so I can use the body enhancement whenever I go to the gym. I usually go to set up for the 5:06 schedule for body enhancement and that's before I start to work out. I empathize with an employee(s) who have other duties than to stand around in the front desk, but really, they can't check front desk every so often just to check whether a PF member(s) schedule an appointment? I have to track an employee down and I can't even do that because they're not in the bathrooms both men and women (I ask my husband to check men's bathroom too to find an employee). It doesn't take a full minute to set the body enhancement machine up. It's too many times and very often that I'd schedule for 5:06 AM and then schedule the 5:24AM and then 5:40 AM because there is nobody at the front desk to help me. There was also one time where there was no employee at all for the full hour as I wait to be set up. I waste my time, lose my workout routine, and this causes frustration. Other members who notices me check the front desk very often would comment "she's never there", or "I think she's hiding in the back sleeping". This is unfortunate and a poor representation of this location. read more

Planet Fitness gets a bad rep for their "No Gymtimidation" rules. You know, no deadlifting, grunting, gym tanks, etc. And I'm not saying you can expect to come to PF and do any CrossFit or true powerlifting, or find any real bench presses, but I will say this particular PF is a cut above the rest. First off, the service. The regular staff makes this gym feel more like a community than other PFs I've been in. They always greet me as I come in, are quick to check me in, and remember my guest (my boyfriend) that comes in with me regularly. In particular, Richard, Victoria, Ivan, Daniel, and the new guy whose name I can't remember right now. I have also been to other PFs where the gym staff was very strict about the rules. This one, not so much. I have been talked to twice about deadlifting. But that was by one guy who doesn't work there anymore and another guy who was new. Typically, they won't talk to you or sound the link alarm on you at this particular PF unless you're being a real d-bag grunting loudly, slamming weights (and damaging them), or legit taking your shirt off. There are a few bad things, and I wish I could rate them 4.5, but I couldn't drop the rating down to 4 with a good conscience. Danjela (I think is how you spell her name) is not the most "customer service" oriented person and has had the same conversation with us about an unpaid balance (which has been paid now twice, system is broken) twice. It is also very busy on weeknights between 530 and 730 or 8. So be prepared for that. As a whole, clean, friendly, adequate, and affordable gym I highly recommend for anyone who doesn't want to spend a bunch of money to be around a bunch of "lunks" at 24 or LA. My fiance and I recently moved our gym membership from LA Fitness to Planet Fitness, and I'm so excited to start working out here! This review is just based on the tour we received as we haven't had a chance to get in and actually work out. Forrest, who gave us our tour and signed us up with the gym, was incredibly nice and answered all of our questions flawlessly. Even with questions we felt dumb about asking, he made sure to answer them and not make us feel dumb at all! I guess this kind of goes along with their "no intimidation" motto. The gym is fairly small but it has everything we need. I LOVE how slow this place is too. LA Fitness is CONSTANTLY packed with meat heads and you're constantly having to wait for a machine, but there was literally like ten people tops in the gym. On top of having awesome workout equipment (and that cool 30 minute workout station!) they have amazing amenities for Premium Members (which my fiance and I are). A lounge, hydro massage tables, massage chairs, free tanning, and free infrared therapy. Super sweet! In addition to all of that, they do free pizza on the first Monday of every month. The day staff are idiots, specially the blond haired kid that assisted the girl for cancelling my membership. Wearing a mask while working out is not safe. It restricts your airflow, which decreases physical performance. This is an undisputed medical fact. If you work out lightly, then that might work because you don't need more airflow...but then are you really working out? No. So, I went to cancel my membership, and this kid wants to argue with me. Dude, just cancel my membership!! Then he said "people are dying" ...then I said "yes, and you shouldn't be open then." Finally, he cancelled my membership. Bad customer service, they don't have employees who like their job or at least it doesn't seem like it. Went in to get help with my membership when I was moving out of town and they told me the only option was to cancel my membership because I wouldn't be going to that location anymore. No one told me I had the option to transfer my membership to a new location... I even went out of my way to come in to get help and felt dismissed. I'm visiting from out of town and dropped into this planet fitness. It's $20 for a day pass that last 24 hours. I checked in around 8:30pm and came back at the same time the following day. The facility seems pretty well kept with a good selection of machines and plenty of space to socially distance. The staff is friendly and helpful. I'm not a fan of the locker system, I had to purchase an old school lock for $6 but not a big deal. Locker rooms were well kept. I did notice some gymtimidation and the hand sanitizers were all out. read more

The Planet Fitness in Kent, Washington (104th Ave) has been illegally asking members for proof of vaccination in order to be able to work out without a mask, as of June 14th. My 69 year-old father, who's been a long time member of this club (and has always fully complied with this locations' tyrannical mask mandates) went in yesterday and was asked for proof of vaccination by the front desk in order to be able to workout without a mask. He does happen to be fully vaccinated, so he displayed his official vaccination record (paper form). They refused it, and demanded he download their app and upload it there. He does not have the app and never has, as he does not have a smartphone. They refused to accept his legitimate proof of vaccination because it was not in their preferred format. It was extremely upsetting for him. This is just one disturbing issue of many I've heard about based on his experiences at this location. In addition, prior to this, they have been threatening and intimidating their members with hostile signage regarding mask-wearing (huge sign out front that literally says: "MASKS MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES AND COVER THE NOSE AND MOUTH. 1ST OFFENSE: VERBAL WARNING, 2ND OFFENSE: YOU MUST LEAVE FOR THE DAY, 3RD OFFENSE: MEMBERSHIP CANCELLED". They had also implemented a designated "Mask Czar" employee, who's sole responsibility was to patrol the club and monitor the mask placement on everyone's faces. If a mask ever slipped below one's nose for more than a few seconds, the Kent Planet Fitness Mask Czar would yell at you from across the room to pull it up. He has now cancelled he his membership. I'm confused and saddened to hear about what's happening at the Kent club, as I personally work out at the Edgewood, WA location and my experience has been nothing like this - it's been great. For whatever reason, whoever manages the Kent club created a hostile and extremely unpleasant environment in which members are ostracized and harassed and I don't think it's ethical (or legal). Management is way overstepping here. This club needs to be investigated. read more

Add the weather gets colder and all I honestly want to do is curl up longer in my bed, I know that I need to get my lazy rear up and do something. In the summer and spring, I have no problem running outside for a half an hour or so in the morning....but in the rain? Fughetaboudit. So when I saw the billboards on the way to work one morning and realized that this location was opening around the corner from my apartment? I couldn't pass it up. Sure, it took a little longer to open than anticipated, but there are nothing but friendly people inside, so I'm just going to assume they needed to find all of their smiling faces and took longer to do so. I've yet to have a wait for equipment, it's clean, well presented, and the staff are helpful. Other gym goers are courteous, friendly, and treat you with respect. I know some people were complaining about the hours, but in all honesty, for what you pay and the access you have, you can't beat it. I was paying the same a month at Kent Commons, and while the price was just as low, there was maybe as much equipment there as there is in the Thirty Minutes circuit area at PF.... So to sum it up: great price, great location, friendly staff, and friendly gym goers. Definitely lives up to their motto of intimidation free zone. I love feeling welcomed! read more

As a 73 YO cancer survivor, I'm just looking for a club that doesn't play loud hip hop music at 6 in the morning. The decibel meter on my phone shows "harmful" most days. 90% of the people who walk thru the door are wearing Air Pods or some other form of personal music device, they don't want to hear piped in rap. I think the kids at the desk use the sound system as their own personal radio. I've ask them to turn it down and most times they do, but the next day it's right back up there. Additionally, my wife has been asked not to have her backpack with her on the gym floor due to Covid concerns. They don't enforce the mask mandate (like it says on the sign in the entry) but they're worried about a backpack? I've reported my concerns to the Silver and Fit Org, but haven't had a reply as yet. read more

Billing issues ! Don't ask me how but some way I had three accounts created. I signed up online a few years ago and the computer signed me up for planet fitness in a different city. I spoke to the manager and was advised it would be fixed, it was not. During the pandemic all reoccurring payments had stopped obviously because we couldn't use the services. Then suddenly last month without warning I realize I was being billed once again by PF. No call ,no email ,no letter ,NO PERMISSION... nothing to indicate they were going to start to re-bill. I didn't mind the $24 charge and walk into the local Kent PF that I HAVE ALWAYS attended Without issue. I went back to the front desk to purchase a lock and that is when the trouble began. The young man said I had a balance in collections and three accounts in total two of which were delinquent and one in collections. Apparently I had two accounts at the Kent location and one account in the Renton location. How this happened I do not know. I'm just a customer and I've done my part in making sure they have the correct billing information. It was corrected by a young man named Tyler but it's the principle that this is not the first time I've had billing issues. PROS: Ignore the bad reviews. I've been to all big-name gyms and Planet Fitness has the best value BY FAR. The gym here has very friendly staff (who greet every customer), it's massive while also being sectioned off into multiple different work out areas, it is loaded with equipment, and it is clean. Planet fitness strives to create a "community feel" with lot's of interclub activities, classes, and merchandise. CONS: Not a whole lot to complain about. I am becoming very disappointed with the gym. There is RARELY hand sanitizer on the gym floor which I compare to hospitals or anywhere germs are spread easily. This PF location is special to me and is my escape, just peaceful (hydroMassage). Fitness in general has been a focal point of life for myself and many others, I'm sure of it. Anyhow, I leave a review not for the facility, it's machines or philosophies. I do it for the people. The ones that come here to make a living and make a difference. They have made a difference. They make a difference each and every day. To individuals such as myself. They display exceptional characteristics. Words that come to mind. Respectful, Kind, Compassionate, Aware! Helpful, Attentive. As I write this review sitting in the massage-chair-lounge-tv-area don't know the name for it.. Sicily. Like all the other employees treated me in a kind matter when I set there writing this, the whole interaction felt so... HUMAN. If you can understand this than you know to be treated as such a rare nowadays. Of course this is suppose to be a review of the place, but what is a place without it's people? Attention planet fitness goers!!!!!! Be careful in this parking lot and don't leave valuables inside. There's an organized gang stealing cars on gun point in daylight. Always have someone accompany you to your vehicle. The way they work is super sketchy they will meet you as soon as you park and steal your car before you have time to react and afterwards a group of cars will come to the parking lot just to observe you just to communicate with the person who carjacked you. It happened to me and one of my friends purposefully talked loud on the phone that he has the car tracker so these guys who showed up after the car jacking could hear him. The police found the vehicle abandoned in a neighborhood 10 minutes away. And this guy helped the guy who stole the vehicle at gun point escape by seeing the time we leave the parking lot after the incident. They are organized and not hard to differentiate between them and average plaza goers. read more

$10/mo. It's everywhere. There are billboards, web ads, mailers, etc. it's a great campaign; simple, effective. No asterisks, no disclaimers, no judging. It's a "judgement-free zone". And it's a lie. After debating with my waistline for a while, I finally rolled in to my local Planet Fitness to sign up. There's a $39 fee to sign up. Also, one month after you sign up, there's a $40 membership fee. Oh, and don't forget the actual $11/month fee. I'm actually at the philosophical place where I'd be willing to pay those fees and move on toward a slightly more "active" lifestyle. But the shadiness of secret costs and fees turned me off immediately. By the way, there's also a cancellation fee. And you can ONLY cancel in writing, in person. Or by certified mail. Edit: This just got a lot better. Ashley from Planet Fitness commented on my review. Note that she takes no responsibility for the Bait and Switch tactic. She avoids this completely, missing the point of my review), and says that taxes are to blame. Without taxes included, the ACTUAL COST of going to this club for a year would be $120 (monthly dues) + $40 (sign up fee) + $40 (membership fee). Not bad. I would pay that. It's a great price. The real issue is that Planet Fitness tried to trick me. If they'd said upfront that there was an additional fee of $40 + $40, then I would've known that walking in. No worries. It has been a year since I joined this PF. Yesterday I was looking into my account and google sent me to the PF review. I noticed the reviews for this place is very low and I don't think the people in this PF deserve to receive 1 or 2 stars rating. Certainly, it is everyone's personal opinions. I personally just never run into anyone rude here. It is just shocking to see the rating is this low when I am here almost daily to see the staff busy cleaning the equipment and make improvements. This place is always very clean. They take care of equipment when the seats or the faux leather is cracked. They sweep the floor a lot and they clean the bathroom frequently. I love the fact that they change out shower curtains every couple months. The people always greed me. If I have to ding this place, I would say the shower soap is emptied and not refilled fast enough. Also the Black PF cards should let the guest enjoy the same PF cards perks at the gym. I couldn't find a reason for signing up to Black card simply my spouse couldn't come by her self and even she comes with me, she would be just doing the regular thing. It is not much of an incentive to me. But maybe just me, I think it would be nice to have a family plan of some kind. read more

While I was taking the weights back, a staff, Jennay block my way and told me rudely that I cannot take the weights to other area in the gym. Let me explain more, I was not taking the weights out of the gym or drop it without putting it back . This is the stupidest rule I ever heard! Most of the help desks are okay, but sometimes when you walk in, they are talking and forget their job, sometimes no "welcome-word" at all, scanning code without smiling, greeting, not even look at your face... My first impression of this place was: DAMN this place is packed lol. I was waiting in line for 30 minutes to sign up for a membership, everyone's getting on top of their New Years resolution I guess haha. So, $20/month for a premium membership (you have access to free massages and you can bring a buddy!), $10/month for basic, and you only put $1 down?! Sign me the F up! Customer service was going good while I was signing up at the table until the guy helping me left, said he'll be right back, and all of a sudden I hear a woman's voice yell "MELISSA GET UP HERE SO YOU CAN FINISH SIGNING UP!" I was so thrown off like... did someone really just... wait what. I went up to the register and asked the guy if he was waiting for me to go up to the register or something because I was told he'd come back- I was so confused. He said he called me a few times but 1.) his voice was too soft (probably why he had to get someone to yell at me). 2.) there was a lot of noise around the register because a lot of people were signing up, too much was going on. 3.) it's completely unprofessional and rude to yell, period, in a work setting. ESPECIALLY at the gym members? Gmfu. I really wish I got that employee's name, her approach came off as if she was manager or a lead... idk but she was being rude to everyone. No matter how busy it gets, you should be able to remain professional. Besides the shitty customer service experience, I really enjoyed going to this gym. Be very careful if you join they will not cancel your membership when you want them to they will continue to bill you for several months after . I canceled 3 months ago in the store and now they want to go in again and try again . The staff is so rude and unprofessional when you call .
