BEWARE! ! ! ! ! ! ! PF is a descent gym BUT their membership policies are nefarious. I joined the gym via a medicare program. They upsold me on the BLACK membership. I tried it for a month and decided to cancel. I called them. They will NOT let you cancel via phone (like every other service I have ever used) and said I had to come into gym to do it. So I made a special trip just to do that. I trusted them BUT they did not actually cancel it. Now I discover I have been charged for 6 months. I spoke to the polite guy at the gym and Oliver at their corp office 920-365-5200. They would not refund me anything!!! They charge "based on STATUS not actual usage". So, BEWARE of nice people offering anything for free or discounted rate. They will make excuses and cite corporate policy. They will SCREW YOU with a smile. read more

I recently transferred my main hub to be the Naperville location and as soon as I walked in I was greeted by a staff member. I mentioned this was my first time at this specific location and asked her to guide me to the women's locker room. She was very friendly and accommodating. She basically gave me a tour of the gym and let me know if I needed anything to reach out to her. I felt very welcomed which put me in a great workout mindset. The lighting is different than what I'm used to at other PFs. It's more on the dimmer side which I don't love. I couldn't tell if the equipment was on the older side or not, however, everything was very clean and well maintained. Machines/equipment do seem to be closer than I'm used to, which left minimal personal space. The women's locker room reminded me more of a lifetime locker room vs PF. It was definitely the nicest locker room I've utilized in comparison to other locations. The crowd status had 2 bars when I checked in but there was plenty of equipment available. I did not have to wait for anything. At my previous gym 2 bars meant the gym was busting at the seams and I was very grateful this wasn't the case here. read more

Personally, I think this is a great gym. Not too crowded, plenty of space and machines, friendly staff, and VERY CLEAN. A few months ago, I decided to make this my go-to club and left LifeTime Fitness in Warrenville. I do all kinds of gym work - cardio, machines, and free weights. And if you're worried about germs, there are strategically located paper towels and antibacterial spray bottles for machine wipedowns. So let's embark on my last month here . Last month I removed my bank info on all websites and decided to just pay as bills come in . So many data breaches going around . My bill comes due every month here in the 17th . I have a calendar reminder and pay on the 17th. Last month the manager at branch asked about getting a card number on file . I said no thanks. I pay manually every month . He said thank you , day continued . Haven't had a issue or question since . Today I go and there is a lady who states she is regional manager named Carolyn. I walk in and scan and she says sir you need a card on file . I again decide to explain to her I don't like cards on file anywhere with all the data breech stuff going on . She says sir I need a card . I again respond I do not want my info online . She states again , I need your card . I said please look on account and you will see a zero balance . She responds correct but I want a card on file getting louder and louder in her tone . I made a very clear statement as I showed my zero balance and asked her a direct question. So are you telling me I can not work out even though I have a zero balance and month is paid for , HER RESPONSE WAS YES ! You are not allowed to work out . Are you kidding me ? That's theft of money . You will not let me work out when I have already paid my dues ? Unbelievable. I proceeded to call the HQ and was on hold for 35 minutes. NEVER EVER JOIN you will never get out if you membership. I tried i submitted a letter requesting to cancel my account they never did it then I submitted over 10 times to have my password reset they refused so I could not remove my information. Contact Illinois attorney general web page and file a consumer complaint, i have done that and so have at least 40 others i have contacted and hopefully with enough we can go after them. I dud everything they required but it helped with having documentation that they would not respond yo my request to change my password. I've been meaning to try Planet Fitness for a while because my friend has been going here for a few months and he's always been telling me that I should check it out. So, I checked it out and I can honestly say that I'm a fan of Planet Fitness. As soon as I walked in I saw signage that promoted a "Judgement-Free Zone" which is awesome because I don't know what I'm doing when it comes to working out. I also saw a sign that said free pizza on the first Monday of every month--I'm not sure why a gym would do that, doesn't eating pizza defeat the purpose of working out? Anyway, Planet Fitness is a clean place with free weights and plenty of machines for you to get a full body workout as well as get your cardio on. Just make sure you're there at a good time because, depending on the time of day, it can get pretty packed in there. For $10 a month and an annual fee of $30 you get to access to the gym & tanning beds from 12am Monday through 9pm on Friday and 7am to 7pm on the weekend. Sounds like really good deal to me! I highly recommend checking out Planet Fitness if you have a friend that is a member because I think members are allowed to bring a guest for free. Oh yeah, I ran into Howard L while I was there. Loud and bright colors aside, a monthly membership here costs a slim $10. WHAT?! I'm willing to go near color blind for that. Deal! A one day pass runs $20... though I hear there's an activation fee for beginning your membership in the first place. Can't beat the value for the number of cardio and weight lifting machines here. Be advised that you'll need to bring your own towel(s), lock to keep your belongings safe in the locker room, and headphones if you want to plug into the treadmills to tune in to the tvs hanging off the ceiling. read more

This place needs to be renovated for sure. If you have never been to any other gym and have nothing to compare it to, planet fitness will probably be a good fit for you. Its only ten dollars a month ($20 if you do the tanning package also) and it is a judgement free zone...meaning no trainers are going to be bothering you or correcting your form or telling you that you need to increase your weights or run faster. No spaghetti strapped tank tops or sports bras allowed. No grunting and acting a fool. Just average joes trying to get their exercise on. I will say that the staff are extremely friendly. They are always going above and beyond to help members and answer questions. One time I thought I lost my keys there and the guy at the front desk looked for a good long time before I realized they were in my purse. I had the worst experience last Thursday at this planet fitness. Let me start off by saying that I hate to exercise. I'm fat. I was in the car before I got into the gym saying to myself "Oh, My Lord, how am I going to do this. I hate exercise!" So, for me to go is a major feat; I was dragging ass. So, I got out of my car, and I walked in and for the FIRST time in the few amount of times I had been to this location I got this HUGE smile from Sydney as I walk in so I'm thinking "good! Everything is starting out good." But unfortunately, that happy greeting quickly turned because of something the computer screen was telling her. She askes me how long I've been a member. I told her "Years." Since 2016 actually except for when the pandemic happened. I told her I recently moved. That I had the people at the Yorkville location switch over my membership to the Ogden location since it had such good reviews compared to the New York St. location. Instead of just looking up my name she walks me over to the computer by the door. She wants me to type in the number. It turns into this power struggle. I'm trying to convey to her that "I've already done this, if the people at Yorkville messed it up, then why don't you type it in so it can be done correctly. You work here, you have access to my account information. Just set it straight." Then she says I'm being disrespectful." I'm flabbergasted at this point. Surprise! I'm black. All I know is that I was trying to walk in to work out, I was obstructed by the employee who doesn't want me to go in and is walking toward the door like I'm a dog. I leave and I drive straight to Yorkville to figure out what happened. The employee there actually, simply, just helped me. She looked it up, I didn't have to type anything. She took it upon herself as the Planet Fitness representative to perform a service to me the patron. It turns out that the card I had was from my previous membership but that I was IN FACT enrolled and PAYING the Ogden location since March. To be honest I never felt welcome there. I had gone roughly once a week since I moved, and I just had a feeling. You know that feeling. I never see any black people there. So, I should have known something was up when Sydney greeted me with a huge smile. They didn't want me in there. It gets worse. After I leave Yorkville I go back to the Ogden Location to cancel my membership. Why would I want to go back? Anyways, this is where I met Valeria. This girl told me off like I was her five-year-old kid. She literally said that. Let me start from the beginning. I walk in and Valeria and Sydney are standing there. I told them I want to cancel my membership. I was in the system. I was in their system. All they had to do was look me up. During this Valeria is verbally abusing me. She said to me that she can talk to me like I was her five-year-old daughter. She said that I'm the third person to complain about her and that the company knows that she doesn't take crap." She said, "good luck trying to find the owners to make a complaint." It was truly amazing. Not in a good way. Just amazing. Anyways. This review is as much power as I have to cause change. This gym is NOT a place you want to join, unless you don't mind no rules, people constantly texting and hogging the machines, machines not being cleaned by members or staff, the worst management I've ever seen, being discriminated against, being sworn at for cleaning your machines, having no one at the desk or an incompetent one, who would rather be in the parking lot smoking pot with her friend than doing her job. There is mold in the bathrooms. I am a black card member and was mistreated, verbally aquasted by a staff members friend, threatened with physical violence, and asked to leave for cleaning my machines. I have gotten absolutely no where trying to report this injustice, no response period. It's only a matter of time before someone gets seriously injured because they don't give a rats ass about anything but your money. I have used my planet fitness membership in 5 different states, over 15 locations, since joining in 2015 and this is one of the better locations! CLEAN and FRIENDLY gym for a value! Yes it is small, which means it can get quite warm or exploit someone's stench if they have not bathed, but otherwise this place is always clean. The staff are friendly, locker rooms well kept (I don't know if I've seen a single piece of toilet paper on the floor in the last year here), and I always feel safe no matter what time I work out. People leaving negative reviews for small issues are the same type of people who want to lease a Mercedes with the budget of a Kia- just not realistic. This gym is $10-20/ month, it's a nice clean gym for the price, if you want everything to be perfect there are plenty of $50-100/ month gyms in Naperville for you to visit. read more

DANGER come here at your own RISK of being DISCRIMINATED against. This was the first time I had anyone at any Planet Fitness tell me to not have my bag on the floor as I've been to several locations, which it technically wasn't it was on the treadmill next to me and it was not during peak hours so literally 80% of the treadmills weren't taken. The the worker tried to go even further and say no electronic devices weren't allowed on the floor so I told her she better tell everyone with MP3 players that as well otherwise I feel targeted for some reason. Who knows probably RACIAL reasons. So if the manager has a problem with people having electronic devices on the floor let him come and tell all the people with MP3 players, cellphones, and otherwise to take them off the floor as I can't see the regular workers being able to enforce that rule EQUALLY. Until then I have to believe that it was some other reason they discriminated and believed it to be right to target only me in putting away my electronic device. read more

Not a fan of this location. Went here because it was on my way home and there's a HUGE difference from the one I normally go to. The staff wasn't very friendly, but they were constantly cleaning so I'll give them that. It looks big on the outside but it's so small, especially being in such a busy area. You walk in and you just feel like it's cluttered and there's no room to do what you want. The locker room is so small and doesn't have many lockers. Haters gonna hate. I used to teach, manage and workout at a small privately owned gym who charged upwards of $250/month for membership. Now, I agree, you do get what you pay for you. You won't get personal training here, or a huge list of classes. This place, because it is so cheap, will get packed easily during peak hours... but if you know what you're doing at the gym, what you want, and you can be flexible, this is a huge steal. It's basically like working out for free. The place itself is pristine. It's newly renovated and updated. The machines, I don't use them, are extremely well kept and work very efficiently. They have a lot of cardio options for people who enjoy that, most with televisions attached to them. They do play a great collection of music, at least I like it. There is a calisthenics station area, which is where I live. The station has battle ropes, pull up/monkey bars, TRX, ball trampolene, stability balls, stretch station, dip bar, kettlebells, resistance bands, etc. It's a nice area and has never had more than four people when I've gone. There is also a 30 minute circuit for those who are new to fitness. I tried it out, for fun, today. Very nice if you want to get a quick full body workout, and aren't motivated, or need more help with what to do. The free weight area is quite large, but gets many people. Same with cardio. Lastly, they have massage chairs, and other amenities. Gym is usually empty on Sundays, area in morning around 6AM, or in evening around 8:30PM. Great buy. The employees were always friendly and I frequently saw employees wiping off the machines to keep them clean. There are a good amount of cardio machines. I would highly recommend not doing business with Carlos Compean the Club Manger at this location, or anyone in this establishment. We canceled our membership 6 months ago due to Covid and have been charged monthly fees for 10 months. Upon receiving the annual membership fee ($39) we went in and spoke with someone who told us many memberships were suppose to be canceled and were not. It was then recommended we speak with Carlos Compean. Unfortunately Carlos was the most incompetent manager I have ever spoken to. He showed absolutely no responsibility or effort to try to make things right for the mistakes made. My husband and I were extremely ill with Covid over the past few months and were hoping Planet Fitness would be an establishment that didn't try to take advantage of members and their monies during a vulnerable time. Obviously there was a mistake made and our memberships were not canceled, we simply asked for the annual membership fee charged THIS MONTH to be reimbursed since we are not able to go to the facility. I love this gym! For $20/month, you can get the black card membership which includes tanning and use of the massage beds. They have a ton of treadmills and elliptical machines so even during busy hours you can find a machine. Most of the machines have a TV attached and they also have a bunch of screens against the 1 wall showing all the different channels. My favorite part of this gym is the 30 minute workout area where there are 10 machines and 10 steppers. It is perfect for getting in a quick full body workout. read more

One of my colleagues has been a member for a while. We have a small, FREE fitness center in our office building, but it's not much and all machines. He has a membership that allows him to bring a guest EVERY time he goes, so I have been said guest. I will join eventually, probably when we can't go at the same time. Planet Fitness has a great, comfortable atmosphere that will be fit for anyone. I see elderly people, people with their teenage children, and Hulk Hogan wannabes in there alike. They have a "Lunk Alarm" for people that grunt, drop weights loudly, or judge other people, so if they hear you drop weights, a light goes on and a siren goes off, it's kinda funny. There is also a huge sign on the wall that says "NO CRITICS", which I like. They are setting the standards right from the get go, and that makes me feel good because I'm kind of a scrawny dude, and when it comes to free weights, often I'm using just the bar. I actually got a compliment from one guy there, he said "Keep up the good work", which I thought was cool. The locker rooms are pretty clean, very spacious, which is good so when old Roy is goin for a shower, his buttcrack isn't right in your face (those old guys have no shame). HIGHLY recommended! The reason for this review is to elaborate on my HOME GYM Naperville. The staff and the management are the Keystone to any location. And this planet fitness is hands down the best in the surrounding area. I had a membership payment issue, and two new team members Delaney and Cameron were so helpful, professional, and kind, they called the General Manager, Carlos, for further instruction/problem solving and my issue was solved. This Staff at This Location, and This Planet Fitness, is simply the best. I have switched to another PF home gym before and experienced not the best compared to Naperville's PF. When I asked the prior GM, Amber, to make Naperville my home gym again. She was so helpful and nice, and switched me back to Naperville. Napervilles Management and Staff are the Best! I have been going to Naperville PF since 2016. I love Planet Fitness because of the non-judgement, friendly community feel and appeal.
