Mixed reviews because I'm spoiled. My home gym is really clean and the workers are constantly attending to their activities. Here the workers were nice but very lackadaisical. There were plenty of dust bunnies having multiple parties all around the edges. Many times there was nobody at the desk to check in. (It would've been easy to take a muscle milk and go!) There's lots of newer equipment, but no TRX room. The bathroom too is pretty bad. The first time I came for the week I needed to take a shower and was afraid of getting athletes foot. I overheard a few girls in the dressing complaining to that. It was pretty bad. However, it's doable. And like I said the equipment they do have is all updated. Plus the location is very near to the university. So that makes it pretty convenient. read more

Just joined. So far weekends, mornings and early afternoons have not been very busy. Easy access to the weights and machines that I want. There is a nice variety of equipment. The club is clean. The machines are well maintained. My only complaint is with the locker rooms and showers. The stalls are small, and don't provide soap or shampoo, the lockers are also small. I just am really upset that after three months of trying to cancel my husband's membership, they're still collecting each month. I called and spoke to Malcom (supposedly a manager) and and said there is no paperwork of a cancelation! That's a complete fabrication of the truth. They have people that work the front and probably threw away my husband's paperwork that was to cancel his membership. After having a dispute on the phone with him, he hung up and was laughing. Although longer than most planet fitness, this particular location has more cardio equipment that any other I've been to. This in itself is not bad. Planet fitness is not a place know for bodybuilding but body sculpting, and this location definitely focuses on that. The staff is super friend and welcoming. There's ample parking as it's located in a busy shopping center with hundred of spots available. Additionally, it's located in a plaza that's close to everything. If you want Thai food after a great workout, there's a Thai place next door. Chinese, there a place next door. Publix, it's right there. GNC, is right next to it. You want to go to the doctor, get an MRI, see a dentist, they are across the street. This place is basically located in the center of the Broward County universe, and there's nothing wrong with that. So, head over to planet Fitness, get your workout on, and go get something to eat right after, trust me, you'll have plenty of choices at this location. read more

Every time I come there's a man working in the women's bathroom. I come every morning around 9 and without fail he is there. Today I arrive and he's on there with no warning sign. How is this not illegal? He's never in the men's room. It's very creepy that he must be there everyday. This is a violation of women's privacy and safety. This gym is on the low class side and the way this man is always in there is very disturbing. Re the comment- why would I contact you to discuss further? Clearly there is a safety issue at play. i love how clean this gym is. I also love that after my workout I can grab a suntan and relax.

This is a gym that you go to to get straight to business. I really embrace and see why they say this is a no judgment type of gym. Everyone is busy doing their own thing and not gawking at each other. Only thing I wish that would be different is if the gym had free weights instead of everything is mostly a machine or dumbbells. The Hydro bed and massage chairs really come in handy after an extensive workout. The front desk always are on point with greeting at the welcome and at the exit. Place is dirty not maintained, after giving management and staff many opportunities to clean and fix the issue such as message chairs and beds are charged extra $15 dollars more a month for most of the month are not working the showers and the changing rooms are filthy the bathrooms are dirty! I wasn't too impressed with the cleanliness of this location. They only had stand up tanning beds and it looked like it'd seen better days. I couldn't find (and I looked literally everywhere) any 8 pound dumbbells. The exercise mats looked gross and when cleaning them, the paper towel just rips and leaves paper towel residue. Months later, TV's still broken. I asked to speak to the GM, A, and after the run around, I finally spoke to her. She said they should be fixed within the next 2 weeks. Let's see. I also asked for the contact information for the franchise owner, she would not tell me, but said she would call maintenance. I wonder if the Franchise owners even know what is going on in their gyms with this level of blocking. I've now been a member of this gym since September and I have been overall happy with my experience. I have a black card membership which allows me to bring a guest with me and gives me access to the massage beds/ chairs and tanning booths. The front desk staff is always friendly and seem to work hard to keep the place clean. They are plenty of cardio machines available, so you'll never have to worry about waiting for one. There's a pretty good variety of weighted machines as well as free weights to use. I also make use of the "30 minute workout" room and the "abs and stretching" room I prefer to come early morning or mid afternoon because it gets pretty busy 5 and later. I toured this gym recently because I'm thinking of changing from my current membership. Fortunately, my guide here was Ryan Powell, who took me through the facilities, patiently answered all my questions, and was as pleasant as he was attentive to my specific interests and concerns. He taught me what I needed to know without ever leaning into hard sell techniques. Ryan let the facilities and policies speak for themselves yet he made sure to answer my questions exactly as they needed to be answered. The machines were strikingly clean (I was coming from a dingy gym) and the whole facility is laid out to make maximum sense and efficiency. When my current gym membership expires, I expect to show up at Planet Fitness immediately. read more

They make it super easy to join, but impossible to cancel.they offer you an extremely cheap membership, and inform you in REALLY fine print that your gonna get charged almost $100 briefly after you join. And even after u finally break free out of their extremely inconvenient service by having to cancel IN PERSON, they will lie to you and continue to charge you. And on top of it the staff is completely clueless about how their system works, and could not give me an answer where the charges where coming from. They kept giving me guesses. When I asked who could help me, they said their boss who only works on Monday at 9:30am. This is the absolute worst gym I've ever been too. "Judgement Free Zone" ??? Are you kidding me? People cant even drink out of gallon jugs how is that not judgemental? Also since I have a gallon jug I use everyday and I can't use it here I wanted to buy a planet fitness bottle. The staff member couldn't find it in the system and had to call a manager. I waited an hour and they charged more than DOUBLE than what's on the Planet Fitness website. Also I asked to have the bottle free because I had to wait an hour and all I got was "NO" so in short Judging water drinkers and No accountability or compensation for peoples time. I like the no pressure of a freestyle gym. Employees at every location are welcoming and warm. My only hick-up is the Direct TV. Always on news and sports. Sometimes they all are saying the same thing. There need to be diverse in the programming. Plus, some sets hasn't been repaired for months. I was shocked by the staff disregard of their customers health. Just about everyone who works there keep their masks lowered down to their chins. Why they even bother to have a mask? My husband asked the person opening the door and taking the temperature to wear the mask over his mouth and he laughed and looked at us as if it was the most ridiculous thing he ever heard. Heavily populated at 3pm with what seems to be unemployed males. A time that would otherwise be a preferable hour for a female to work out and be able to access machines. Often personal trainers are trying to bump gym members off of equipment in order to put their own clients first. Just another shady practice that goes on in Florida. Paper towels often empty. Biggest issue is staff are long time Florida locals. They think a 70F day is cold. That is utterly ridiculous to an American. They turn the air in the gym on low making it uncomfortably hot inside. I've only been to 2 locations. This one and the one in Coral Springs. I must say, I really like this location! Friendly, funny staff that take the time to get to know you. They give nice smiles when I get to/leave the gym. Every once in a while there might be a station that's out of paper towels but it's not something that's a continuous issue. I go 3-5 times a week either in the morning around 5 am or in the evening around 8:30 pm. It's never crazy packed out at those two times. Parking is not an issue in this shopping center. I don't get bothered by other gym goers. Black card area is kept up nicely. Overall I do recommend this location. Plus I love publix and it's soooo convenient that's its next door! Advice to Management: you should try to enforce wiping down machines after use and putting weights back where they belong when done. read more

I read a previous review about this location concerning a non-existent "free week trial" and I felt compelled to retort. I love this Planet Fitness. I have been coming here since this location opened and the staff has always been phenomenal. Leiha, Vanessa, and the two Stephanies are the employees that I have the most interaction with and they are always super nice and helpful when needed. They are always upbeat and very nice to me whenever I enter. If I had any criticism about this location it would be that the floors are perpetually dusty and unswept. It is my understanding that there is a night crew that comes at night for the specific purpose of cleaning the floors and whatnot. If that crew would up their vacuuming game a bit, this gym would be perfect. So, to bring it full circle, the employees are great and cannot be blamed for what the franchise policy is. I have witnessed several rude customers and the employees always have kept a calm and professional demeanor. I highly recommend this location. read more

Very unwelcoming front desk staff specifically Marlena and Shauna. They each lack good customer service skills. After 1 year of happily enjoying her black card membership my daughter was rudely told by Marlena that she was under age and had to down grade to the regular membership or cancel entirely with an early cancellation fee. My daughter was happy with her membership and did not wish to cancel but the only reason She signed up in the first place was because she was told that she could have the black card and use the tanning bed and massage tables so my "under age" daughter chose to cancel. Marlena sarcastically asked my "under age" daughter if she should charge the cancellation fee to the card on file which is not in my "under age" daughters name.. it is in my husband's name. Marlena should have known better and should have contacted me ( the guardian ) who signed her up to ask permission to cancel and permission to charge the card. My daughter left the gym crying and disappointed. Good customer service would have come in hand in this situation because there were ways this could have been resolved. We could have been treated as loyal customers instead of hated enemies and come up with a resolution. We could have put the membership in my name and my daughter could have been the guest and continued to enjoy Planet Fitness as a black card member. I'm sure there were nice ways to fix this unforeseen problem. My husbands credit card was charged $62.06 for the cancellation fee and then a charge came in for $41.73 for club fees for this new year?! I accepted the cancellation fee even though she wouldn't have terminated her contact early had they allowed her to continue with the plan they set her up in. But the club fees for the new year that she could not participate in were over and beyond. I went in to the club and explained our situation to Shauna who was SOOO uncaring, rude, and not even trying to come up with a solution. All I was asking was if the club could at least reverse the club fee charge. After all, this mistake of having my daughter as a black card member for the past year was planet Fitness's mistake, not ours. She treated me like complete garbage. I asked her for corporates number and she told me it's online. She did not even have the decency to give it to me herself. When I left she sarcastically told me to have a nice day. I certainly will it's not all about the money. I hope Marlena and Shauna can learn from this review... learn to value their loyal customers, learn how to treat people with decency, learn how to be better problem solvers and just learn better customer service in general. read more

The staff cares very little about enforcing the rules. I've been wanting to do the 30-minute express workout but every time someone goes in to use the machine in the way it wasn't intended and I complain to the staff, they don't anything about it. They just brush you off and do nothing to enforce the rule. There are same machines outside of the 30-minute section. This review is regarding a horrible experience that happened today at this gym. I have been in the fitness industry for many years, but today, I have never seen such incompetence and wanton disregard of customer service at any establishment that I experience today! I had the complete misfortune of dealing with The General Manager, I believe her name is Shana. There was a billing discrepancy on the account of one of my clients, he is a minor and was signed up by his mother over a month ago. So today 4/26/2021, he scans his key tag as he usually does to gain admission into the gym. Surprisingly, we were told that he had an outstanding balance on his account, even though the account utilized had sufficient funds. Understandable, it seemed like something simple enough where a mutual resolution could be reached. His mother had to make the commute to drop him off at the gym and was no longer in the vicinity. Typically, in my experience, prudent gym personnel will allow the individual to work out and resolve any monetary or account issues at an appropriate time. Not a problem, everywhere has different protocols in place, once again, I have experience in the industry, so it is something I am privy to. I respected the infringement upon my time and my client's time by being patient and waiting for the matter to be resolved. The young man used a debit card to clear a "portion" of the balance and we are given a receipt. However, it was then made known to us that there is even more "bad news" Apparently, even though he has been coming to the gym daily for over a month, he is not a "member" even though the paperwork was signed off by his legal guardian and initial enrollment fees were collected. Not a problem I think, mistakes happen we are all human. In actuality, it was a complete oversight and error on the part of any staff member that permitted him entrance; and any "Management" personnel that were completely derelict in their duties of supervision and record-keeping. Once again, these were all thoughts in my head, I did not verbalize them at the time. I lowered my head and asked meekly if The General Manager Shana, can make the "exception" this one time. I let her know that I along with my client had to commute and take time out of our busy day to train, and that we will rectify the account issue posthaste. Without hesitation or reservation, she says NO!! I am not known as an impatient or unreasonable man. I assessed the situation and tried to look for an alternative other than being essentially kicked out of the gym. Not being the general manager or an employee, I proposed that maybe we can do a guest pass or a day pass. At this point, she has her back turned and is "scanning" in other patrons, even though there is a pressing matter before her. Another misfire of communication! I then realized she simply did not want to help. As an owner or any stakeholder with this company, I would be mortified to have Ms. Shana as my "General Manager". She did not display any tact when speaking to a valued patron, her customer service was nonexistent, and her attitude was intolerable. She was completely devoid of any soft skills, compassion, and conflict resolution abilities. I informed her of my displeasure with my treatment, and that I will be seeking to cancel my membership. Instead, she chose to be draconian and completely callous to me and my client. As I peruse this review board, I see many of the bad reviews involving Ms. Shana and I am not surprised. I am not calling for her to be fired during these economic downturns and tumultuous times. I am, however, calling for remediation in the training of her management skills and disposition when dealing with valued patrons. Despite the complaints levied against her for as far back as one cares to look, nothing has been done. Nonetheless, this grievance will not fall on deaf ears, nor will it be addressed with some generic HR auto-response. Someone of rank in this company and business acumen will have to talk to me. They will have to explain to Ms. Shana how nonsensical and asinine it was to jeopardize two memberships and potentially many others with her lack of tact and problem-solving abilities. Ultimately, the response that this review gets, will tell me what my next course of action is. I will contact the board of trustees, executive-level management, or anyone that has a vested interest in the company. My membership is currently active, which is also subject to change depending on the response. In closing, I enjoyed all of the dedicated and hardworking staff that I have encountered during my frequent visits to this gym. All of my encounters have been warm and kind with the exception of this one. I will formally cancel my membership by 4/29/2021, I will then make calls to corporate and anyone of Merit in the company if my grievance is not rectified. read more

Well in short, I brought my friends to this Planet Fitness to inquire about a one-week free trial and also for a membership. I was familiar with a different Planet Fitness further up the road. But because we were on limited time, we tried this location. As we stepped through the door, we weren't even greeted by the girl at the reception desk. Then we inquired about the one week free trial. She replied that they had no free trials and that it would be $20 a person for a day visit! I pointed out that the other location had one week free trials and she said it may be different because it ran different promotions. The manner in which she spoke to us showed no friendliness, no customer service and actually put us off!! This happened around 3 p.m. on Saturday. So we drove back to the location further up the road. Got 1 week free trials and also signed up for a membership! So this location, because of her attitude, lost out on a sale!! read more

I visit South FL for about 2 months each year and wanted to take advantage of the Plantation location while away. In previous years, I had used a non PF gym for the short term, but finding that many of the local gyms have hefty activation prices, etc. I visited the Plantation location and luckily, Kenny and his staff were helpful giving me the different options using this location. I downloaded the PF app and within a matter of minutes, I was able to upgrade to the PF Black Card, which allows use of PF gyms across the country. Made a few quick observations first trip and find the equipment is in fine working condition free of dust, floors are clean, men's room freshly clean. read more
