It's been over half a year since I started going to this gym and the review definitely needs an update. Cleanliness of gym: 5/5 The gym is always clean. You consistently see staff cleaning and maintaining the gym. And I don't mean a superficial clean either. I love that I can be assured that the staff is always going above and beyond to maintain a clean environment and all I have to worry about is people wiping down the equipment after they use it. Customer service and staff: 4/5 Overall, the staff is friendly. They typically always welcome everyone in and say bye when leaving. You don't typically find the front desk unattended but during certain times when only one person is working, you may have to wait a few moments if you want to use the black card amenities. Equipment: 4/5 There is a good assortment of equipment and weights. They do not have as much new equipment as some of the newer PF locations in the surrounding area but they a good assortment of weight machines. And a few newer ones that they didn't have before. It would be amazing if they had free weights added to the Room where you can work with a personal trainer or really just the area where people do workouts with mats. When I went to another location and they had the free weights on stands that you could use in there, I was thinking all locations should have that. Black card amenities: they don't have as luxurious massage chairs as other locations but these chairs do the job. The tanning beds and booths are top notch and excellent. The hydra bed and lounges are also great amenities to take advantage of. I have yet to use the red light booth but plan on it. Culture of the gym is a very mixed vibe. There is often a large assortment of people. Teens, senior citizens, middle age like myself, newbies and avid gym goers, as well as a few muscle body builders. But I never come to the gym and feel uncomfortable. I never feel like I'm in a space I don't belong. Instead I feel comfortable and happy and know that I can get a great workout in. Even on busy days, it's pretty easy to rotate between the machines. It may be harder to use the machine with the cables and pulleys as these are very popular and it may be hard to get a bench right away by the dumbbells and barbells but with a little patience you can get access to one. Overall, this gym is definitely one of my favorite locations when it comes to comfortability and accessibility to equipment. read more

So I effectively had two and was paying for two, but figured it was an issue with the app. Nope. The signed me up without my consent, then played games when they got caught. Thieves. This place closed out of the blue for an indefinite period of time. No notice. No email. No Facebook update. Nothing. They don't answer the phone when you call for an update (goes right to a "your call can't be completed message). I tried to ask a question in the app and no response. And, based on what I read on Reddit (the only place I can find any information) they are not offering refunds - just the ability to go to other planet fitness locations. That's nice, but I'm a black card member. Happy to take this rating down if someone from that location can provide information on reopening. read more

The new lay out of the gym is absolutely horrible. It's very annoying that they put the smiths machines front and center in the middle of the gym, like it wasn't hard enough to feel comfortable using them when doing specific exercises, such as all types of squats, hips thrusts, step ups, dead lifts, ect.. Now a good majority of the entire gym gets to stare directly at you.... Atleast when they were located in the corner, it didn't feel like the whoooole gym was looking in your direction. Now, there's no question that they most definitely are. And then they've removed half of the stair stepper machines and also moved them directly in the middle of the gym... As a man, I'm sure this layout won't bother you, as I don't doubt that the layout was rearranged by a man.... But as a women, this layout makes its a lot more uncomfortable to utilize these machines. I have been a member here For a few years and really like the place. It is a great value and has tons of machines and weights to work out with. Elliptical, rowing, treadmills and a favorite of mine is the Circuit section. 30 minute full body workout! It's clean and well staffed. read more

Downgrading your membership from Black to Classic membership should not be so difficult. The downgrade cannot be done online or by mobile. Members need to visit the gym in person and speak with the manager who is the only person authorized to make a membership change. This is poor customer service and sketchy business practice. read more

What a disappointing experience I had today! Nevertheless, when someone treats you unfairly based on personal judgment or who you are, just smile! Today, I went to the Planet Fitness center in Renton, WA. At the counter, the staff member scanned my barcode and told me I couldn't use the service anymore unless I updated my credit card information, which is set to expire this month. I hadn't even noticed this and didn't realize I needed a credit card on file since the gym directly withdraws the monthly service fee from my bank account. She explained that the card is required as a backup payment method. But when I checked the payment details in my app, I saw that I already paid for this month, and my next due date isn't until October 17--almost a month away. A better approach would have been to politely remind me: "Please update your credit card information before your next due date." Instead, she immediately restricted my access, which didn't feel right. She seemed to forget that her role is to represent the company and serve all clients equally--not make personal judgments. She doesn't even know me! This was actually the second time she treated me differently. Since May, over the past five months, I haven't even been able to go to the gym more than ten times due to my busy schedule. Still, I've never wanted to cancel my membership. Every month, I pay $27.58 for my Black Card membership, regardless of how often I attend. My question to the fitness center is this: Why do you need credit card information if a person is already paying directly from their bank account? If someone fails to pay, then naturally they shouldn't receive the service. Isn't that how it should work? read more

It's a clean and welcoming place with kind staff. The atmosphere is great, but it can get too crowded after 4 pm.

Visiting from out of town and this was the closest location. I couldn't remember how to find my bar code on the app to check in and the lady at the desk comes over, looks at me like, "is she really asking me this?" , lowers her voice and slowly says "right hereee" as she points to the bar code. Lady, I'm not 5 years old. No good morning and no good bye as I walked right by them on my way out. Not a good start to the morning with that crap. Lots of cardio machines, most of benches were being used which is normal for morning rush. Lots of parking, right next to Big Lots. Overall, met all my needs except for the snarky comment from front desk lady. read more

This gym is awesome at 5 am...in the afternoon the teenagers are awful! The kids under 18 should be required to have a trainer. From wiping down equipment to sitting there talking for an hr. Simply ridiculous. read more

RUN RUN RUN.... JORDAN & ANTHONY are scammers!!! Joined this gym in good faith as it was close to my home but had to have major surgery.. They made it sound like it was no BIG DEAL to cancel online with thier stupid app... when i called to cancel, i got MAJOR runaround from gym manager JORDAN who was downright rude and told me to go online. I asked for corporate number and she refused to give it to me or the owner for this location. This evening i called again and spoke with ANTHONY who 3 times hung up on me when i explained circumstances and asked to cancel. I was so pissed off i drove down there at 2 in mornign to cancel.. then ANTHONY did this crap of saying internent was down and could not cancel. so I wrote down my requests for cancellation and asked for written acknowledgement thsi was done.. HE FLATLY REFUSED.....then he started telling me this crap of a CANCELLATION FEE of $58. Mind you i was on trial, used gym 3 times in FEB and nothing since...!!! Finally I left and called my bank to cancel this bullshit membership. DO NOT JOIN. they are dishonest and full of crap read more

If I could rate it Zero stars I would.. I signed up and only came to this gym 2-3 times. I ended up in the hospital in a coma for over two months. Had a brain infection, lost memory. When I got out of the hospital I had to learn how to walk, talk, physical therapy, speech therapy etc. I got a phone call from this gym later down the road that I owed money to them.. they juggled my memory Because I honestly forgot that I even went to this gym. But when they reminded me I also remembered I only went 2-3 times before getting extremely sick. They then told me I owed them $200 for my membership.. I asked them how in the world could I owe them that much when I believe the membership is 10-25$ a month. They told me because I didn't sign papers stating that I no longer wanted to have a membership they count every month that I never came. I told them about my situation. For 2 months I was unresponsive And then I had to heal and recover that I just started working. Asked if they could work something out with me being due I couldn't sign papers anyway I'm a coma. They didn't care. Kept blowing my phone up asking me when I could pay. At this point I'll just have to never go to a planet fitness ever again. It took me a lot of courage to get back into a gym. Then I get sick and wake up to phone calls like this with people that dont care just because you didn't sign some papers they stack your 'monthly bill' Crazy because the guy on the phone even looking into the system and seen I haven't been in 7 months... Although the equipment is good...the staff here often leaves the bathrooms in a disgusting manner. Clogged toilets, spilt over poo water on the floor, no toilet paper in the dispensers. When I went to the front desk to ask them to clean it, the staff lady today brushed me off as if I was being a nuisance to her. She could not have cared less that the guys have no place to use the restroom and we pay dues here. If it were my business I would fire the manager and this employee immediately. I went here for a while and then canceled my membership. There are a lot of people working here but they don't seem to be doing anything. I got tired of people using machines and not wiping them down when done and no one says anything. When you have a gym that the general public goes to you're going to get a lot of rude people and this place definitely has its share. One girl is filming herself working out (for her tiktok thing I assume) and keeps getting mad when people walk in front of her phone. Hey, we're not here to be part of your video and I'm pretty sure they have a no filming rule. Either way, go film yourself at home, not in a public gym. The TV seems to always have Fox news on, and this is a huge big no for me. You need to have something generic, not something so divisive. I also see employees quietly talking about people working out so I wonder if they're talking about me when I'm not within earshot. This is not a good thing. Canceling was a bit of a hassle too. I think the pricing is actually good but overall it shouldn't be such a hassle to cancel. read more

I've been coming to this planet fitness for the last several months. I've been to a few gyms over the last few years and this is by far the one with the friendliest staff. They're always very helpful and kind. Equipment is typically clean and there are always the machines available that I'm looking to use.I would give this place a try, especially with their modest pricing. read more

Every time I think it's safe to come back to this Particular planet fitness, I come on a day when member after member is without masks or pulling them down while working out. If you are concerned about safety during these trying times, this is not the Gym you want to go to. Though the gym looks nice and has lots of current machines. You need to know about their deceptive advertising. They say it's cheap as low as "$10" a month. They didn't even use the words "as low as" . I signed up paying about $75 to join. Then a year later they charged me $70 again. If you add the joining fee and the Yearly fees. NO ONE pays $10 a month. Now I cancelled my membership told that my balance was $0 and I'm receiving bills for cancelling. So they Charge you to QUIT. That's down right deceptive and wrong. Although my wife is a basic member, they continue to charge her the Black Card Member rate. Its good that I was going though the credit card bill and detected this - else these guys would have continued doing that. The managers are worthless as they confirmed they have made the change to get her status to a basic member and also gave her a couple of months free access but right after that, again the Black card charge. When I called them to discuss, the manager was not there (which they never are) and I never got the call back that I was promised. I am going to dispute the charge with my bank and get the membership cancelled. I understand these are tough time but this is plan and simple fraud. Pretty happy with this smaller gym for the most part, after a few months of membership. It is clean, well-equipped, and the staff is pretty friendly and helpful. And it is close to home. I like how the app can tell you how busy the gym is before you leave the house. Recently though, Planet Fitness has launched its program for teens, which allows them to work out free for the summer. Seems like a good business idea, but this particular location has seemingly become a high school hangout, with groups of kids sitting around on the equipment socializing. Hopefully things settle down a bit so that I can get in and out efficiently, like before, in which case my rating would probably be more like 4 stars. read more

This gym has become infested with unsupervised juveniles with zero gym etiquette ever since Planet Fitness opened up to free access to kids for the summer. I used to go to the Kent Planet Fitness, but I've moved in the last year and this is the closest location to me. I was finally able to start working out again recently after having my son, so you know ya girl had to jump on the opportunity to work on this mom bod! I like the layout of the location. It's very open and easy to find exactly what you're looking for. It's never really overly packed and I've never really had to wait for anything that I've wanted to use. Locker rooms are clean and bright! Parking lot is giant so you'll never have an issue getting a spot. No complaints from me. I'll definitely continue working out here! read more

I love this gym, but... THE FREE HIGH SCHOOL SUMMER PROGRAM NEEDS TO STOP. Firstly, great gym. Great staff. It really feels like family coming in here. I can't say enough nice things about all the employees. They're fantastic. They really go out of their way to be as accommodating as they can, they're approachable, and they care about you and your experience there. I've been able to work on a wide array of my fitness needs, and even get involved with things I wouldn't know about it if weren't for this gym. Love it! That being said, I have to add my voice to what others are saying: It can be a nightmare trying to work out here during the summer months because of Planet Fitness' High School Summer Program, which allows teenagers into the gym for free. I want to address this here, because I'm hoping PF Corporate will see it and do something about it. It's hell on earth for the poor employees there, too. Look, it's a great idea to get kids interested in fitness. It's good for them, and it's great from a marketing standpoint for PF because it encourages these teens to be future customers. However, these teens come in in droves, with no guidance or supervision, and they take over the entire space. It's really not their fault-- They don't seem to be given any orientation or breakdown of the rules... They just get let in for free all summer long, carte blanche. Gym etiquette goes out the window. This free-for-all leads to groups of kids (4 to 8 or more) all utilizing one or two machines at a time, preventing members from rotating in and using the machines. And, there are often several of these groups at once in the gym at any given time. It makes it impossible for paying members to get a good workout in. Without proper guidance or enforcement of the rules for these kids, you get: -Large groups socializing on machines and monopolizing them for long periods of time. -Teens using equipment in destructive or unsafe ways. -Teens throwing water and other drinks on machines for fun. -Teens leaving messes in the bathrooms and locker rooms, and intentionally trying to clog the toilets (laughing the whole time). -Loud boisterous groups using foul language and insulting other members. I realize I might be coming off as a grumpy old person shouting "Hey, kids, get off my lawn!" but I'm a paying client to a business that is alienating its customer base. Perhaps we could have an Adult Swim, or limit the times and numbers these teens can come in? Or, even require a gym orientation for them? This should be a learning experience for them, and set them up for success as adults in a fitness world. These kids are being set up for failure, and it's effecting the entire gym as a business. Teach these teens how to be good members of their gym community, set rules, and impose consequences for not following them. Something has to change! read more

I work out here around 3AM at least 4-5 days a week for about 5-6yrs. I have seen A LOT of staff come and Go!!! Especially on grave yard shift! 90% are lazy as heck! I have seen maybe 4 that actually work and clean! There is a girl now on night shift her name is Chanel I think is how you spell it? and she is awesome!! While others just sit the whole time, she is working her but off cleaning! I just wanted to give her a shout out, and hope she stays for a while, and let management know she's a keeper!! Since the membership rates are so good and it is close to where I live, I have been coming to the gym for the past couple years and recently upgraded my membership to 'black card'. The number of equipments in this gym is incredible, it has everything that I need to get a good workout. The black card upgrade allows me to bring in any guest at any time per visit, that's one of the best deal I think this gym has to offer from the upgrade. Other gyms around the area doesn't offer that, and most importantly, they are not a 'judgment free zone' read more

So yesterday I was doing my daily routine and after I get off of work and your manager Jared here at the renton location here at planet fitness decides to send some one too stop me from doing my daily routine which is working out here after work everyday at the renton location and tells me 2months later that I have exceeded my max of 10days of visiting this location and says I have too transfer locations in order for me to workout here when he never had a problem until 2months later now I dont apperciate the fact that I was racially profiled not only did he racially profiled me but he also racially profiled my cousin as well now I did the transfer to the renton location yesterday but please for future reference so you dont loose clients in the future either talk to him or demote him from his position thank you I would really apperciate your help with that thank you Sincerly Angel Luna read more

Out of the many planet fitness' I have been to, this one so far would range in the fair to good section. My biggest complaint is that the front desk staff are always on their cell phones during the evening to night time where they dont even notice I am attempting to scan my membership. It usually is a 2-3 minute wait followed by the "I didnt see you there" as they close their facebook or tinder. Definitely a fun and safe gym but I do wish they would fix the sinks and one band dryer that doesnt work as well. read more

They "upgraded" the black card experience, which includes an automated check in experience that never works correctly. There is either no way to override the automated system or they haven't taught their employees how to do it, making your black card useless. Every planet fitness sucks, so I really don't know what I expected. read more

I dropped by the gym 20 minutes before closing today because I needed to use one machine for 10 minutes. The guy working the front desk told me I couldn't come in because he wanted to clean up early. I looked around and saw at least 20 people working out in the gym. Asked again, "so you're really telling me I can't work out for 10 minutes during business hours, even though I will be done before you close?" He replied that he's sorry but no. This is horrible. How can I be denied entrance during business hours when I'm a paying member?!? Tried all day to contact the manager but staff says he isn't available.
