This is our go to place for Thai food and we visit frequently. Tonight we had dinner at 6:30 and the wait staff was new and not helpful. Are they all brand new? First off they did not ask if we wanted anything to drink. When we did order it later it was incorrect. I ordered a light Corona and I got regular. They did provide a box for our left overs but did not ask if we wanted their assistance and did not provided a sack. We bagged our own. I asked for limes and the girl brought 2 tiny slivers and dropped them on the table. The food was good as usual but it just seemed very mishandled. They were not that busy! Is it under new manager or maybe new owners? We left a hefty tip but we will not the next time if this happens again read more

This is our favorite local Thai restaurant. Food is always fresh and hot and fast. I love their salad rolls, they blow all other salad rolls put of the water. Super fresh and great flavor, I get them with tofu or shrimp. I also love their Tom Yum soup, stir fries. noodle dishes and fried tofu. read more

The food was delicious, but docked 2 stars for service tonight. I sat down with my elderly mother just before the Friday night dinner rush. We had already decided what we wanted and were very hungry, but no one had come to take our drink orders as several tables around us were seated and had their drink orders taken. We continued to sit and wait as the people across from us who were seated after us got their drinks and appetizers. I kept trying to make eye contact with a sever but several more rushed by before I could finally flag someone down to take our order. The server I flagged down seemed annoyed that I had done so. We then continued to wait without drinks or appetizers while all those later tables got their 2nd drinks and dinners served. At one point someone who seemed like a manager walked by and asked if we'd gotten our food yet, when I said no, not even our drinks, he rushed off seemingly to look into it, but then never returned and we waited quite some time. Another server finally came with a plate of food that we hadn't ordered... We finally got our drinks as the tables around us were paying their tabs, and the food finally came, and was indeed very good. But no one came to check on us, no one asked us how our food was. When we were finished and ready for boxes, with plates stacked at the end of the table, no one came. I again had to flag someone down for a box and the check. I felt completely ignored, and I never even knew who our actual server was. The table next to us got great service, they seemed to be regulars and their server was very attentive to them while ignoring us. I never lost my temper, and was not rude or angry when I asked for service, as I could tell everyone was busy. But by the time we left I felt angry, it was 2 hours later, We'd gone in early and hoped for a simple, quick meal, and tables all around had been seated twice before we got the bill. All it would have taken was for someone to apologize, and perhaps offer a complimentary dessert or to knock a little off of our tab. Or at least just a sincere apology! But nothing. I put out a card with the bill, and again after waiting while servers kept passing by our table, I put the card away and paid cash, with a small 10% gratuity because I feel bad leaving nothing. But honestly I shouldn't have tipped at all, and would have felt justified in walking out without paying and never going back, but I'm just not the kind of person who can do that and feel okay about it. I always enjoy eating here. It's your standard good Thai food, and quality is consistent. What really put them over the top, however, was their willingness to create a custom meal for my 6 year old. I had tried a different nearby Thai place right before going to this one and had asked the other place if they could make my daughter a simple dish - chicken, steamed carrots & rice with a non-spicy sauce. They couldn't come up with anything but buying all the parts separate: chicken sauté, a side of veggies, a side of rice....really? Planet Thai, however, had no problem. Order the crab fried rice, you'll be pleased with the large chunks of meat and so flavorful. The volcano beef a tad salty for me but was so tender. The tofu was great. Pumpkin curry was a bit too spicy but the fresh shrimp made up for it. Mangos and sticky rice was a great finish. All left so happy. Servers were pleasant too. Was very excited to try a new-to-me Thai place as I live on the east side and rarely make it to the Salmon Creek area. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about menu items. You could tell they are short staffed by the way they were hustling. It took a little bit longer than I'd anticipate to be seated. I had Chicken Pad Thai and asked for just a tiny bit of spice. It was very good, but it was too spicy. Next time I'll ask for no spice. Dining area was clean as was the restroom. read more

"not the greatest, but not the worst." Portions are a bit skimpy -- normally, if I order a curry dinner I never finish the beef/chicken and all the chunks of peppers, etc. Not this time! And the Som Tom was...well... I'd skip that. Which makes me sad. I've eaten a lot of Thai food over the years... in many places. My test of a new Thai place is to get Pad Thai. Pretty basic dish and hard to mess up. This was the worst Pad Thai I've ever eaten. And, service was also pretty lame. Not a go to spot IMHO. read more

The customer service has a lot room for improvement. We waited at the front for several minutes while being ignored by the staffs. Nobody apologized and the lady (manager) was indignant that we complained about it. Not recommended. read more

Most horrible Thai place ever. The middle aged guy that helped me yesterday was the biggest jerk I have ever experienced. I buy food 3-4 days a week for the local hospital crew. And I buy usually always shrimp salad rolls. With a couple of the larger sized siracha. So yesterday this guy answers the phone. I place my order and with no reply he just hangs up on me. I go in about fifteen minutes later and I see my order in the front there. But no siracha at all. I grab my salad rolls and go to the back register area to pay. Same guy helps me. He is very rude to me. I say excuse me? Wtf did you just say to me. He ignores me and gives me my ticket to sign. I pay obviously zero tip. Then I tell him I asked for two large siracha I get the same thing for hospital workers 3-4 days a week here. He goes and gets me two very small things of siracha. I say I asked for two large size ones. He replies I don't give a shit that is what you get, so I threw them on the ground in front of him and walked out. Biggest crap company I have ever ordered from. Then I went to a place after called Nom Nom told them my story and they supplied all the hospital people for free to be kind. This place is horrible. My third trip here. We had Pad Kee Mao with beef and the Braised Beef Noodle soup this time. The soup had good taste but needed more depth, as in letting it cook down more to intensify the flavors. The beef was a little too chewy. The appearance when you see the picture was not that appealing looking in comparison to other Asian Beef Noodles soups. ( Look at the bowl from Hanoi Kitchen ) The Pad Kee Mao was ok but the noodles were a little overcooked. The atmosphere and service were very good as usual. Maybe the best Thai food I've had anywhere. I ordered the pumpkin curry, but with chicken instead of shrimp. The chicken might have been a tiny bit dry, but the pumpkin and sauce were absolutely outstanding, and I'd order it again. The atmosphere is nice; my only complaint was that the restaurant was very cold on a very cold night. Owner needs to put up walls in the entryway. Lacking veggies, small handful of barely fresh bean sprouts and that was the only color contrast. The chicken tasted good but overall it was lacking flavor, spice, and depth. The sweetness seemed to come from just simple brown sugar. Eggplant with squid; squid very chewy, like frozen pre sliced squid that was defrosted and cooked in the microwave. The eggplant on the other hand was completely soaking with oil. It was almost as if they dropped it in a fryer with not hot enough oil. It was very odd. I was in a pinch since I forgot my pack lunch at the office... I did a google search, found this place, and ordered ahead. I ordered the Thai Iced coffee and a yellow curry with chicken. The person who helped me on the phone was great, and gave me an estimated time that was honored when I arrived. Penny brought me my iced coffee and was very kind and helped me quickly. Her service was awesome! The curry was flavorful yet balanced, and the vegetables were very fresh. The chicken was tender and moist, and the overall dish was refreshing and homey. It brought in the gray autumn perfectly. The portion size was also great with plenty of rice. I'll be back. The coffee was awesome, and I would highly recommend trying it. Ordered Togo and was very delighted. I'm not the biggest Thai fan. I usually prefer Vietnamese or Korean if I'm doing Asian cuisine, but this place was good!! I had the drunken noodles and papaya salad at Thai level spicy and both were really great. Great flavor, spiciness level, fresh ingredients, and just all around delicious. My husband ordered the wings, spicy chicken, and crab fried rice and everything was to his liking as well. I come here at *least* once a month because I just love the fact that it's so close and so good. They have your usual fare: Crab puffs (or 'crab rangoon', as they are called in many places), chicken satay (delicious), calamari (delicious), pad thai (although I haven't had this here yet, so I can't speak on how good it is). I usually get pad kee mao or coconut milk soup here. *Both* are delectable; the pad kee mao is cooked perfectly and the coconut milk soup is just a dream. A DREAM. Today I got something that I'd never seen anywhere else and thought I'd try it: Thai lemongrass clam chowder! I believe this location is a bit on the adventurous side as I've seen a few unusual dishes on the menu there from time-to-time. I gave it a go and I cannot stress how NOT disappointed I was. It was delicious. It was phenomenal. The lemongrass was just light enough to compliment the chowder but not overpowering. You could taste the lemongrass but not TASTE the lemongrass. I honestly am trying to recall what clam chowder tastes like without it and I can at the moment - it was just such a nice compliment. The clam pieces was chunky and delicious - they don't skimp. The consistency of the chowder was such that it was easy to consume rapidly without being too runny or watery. I'm unsure if this is a seasonal item or not but if you go and it's there - GET IT. You can either get a cup or a bowl, although the bowl isn't advertised on the menu (or it wasn't when I went in), and the cup os $5. The 'cup' size is rather big though, so if you do get a bowl you may want to either only order that or go with people to share any appetizers. read more

I've been going here off and on for several years, but lately, the food seems like it's only gotten better. Wife and I stopped on Labor Day and had lunch. I had the chicken pad thai and she had the special honey crispy chicken. They were both amazing and the pad thai was one of the best I've ever had. The flavors were perfect for my taste. The honey chicken was also amazing. The meals were so good that we had the same thing (2) nights in a row! Will be back very soon! read more

Lowering my rating. For the simple fact they are not as good as they used too be. My food didn't have much flavour and it was lacking spice complexity. I ordered yellow curry veggie/tofu. And cashew vegetables. The yellow curry was 90% tofu the remainder was onion, and carrots. That's not all the flavour was lacking. It was missing some conponent it just wasn't up to scratch. Now the cashew vegetables tasted as if the came out of the freezer and we're just steamed. Didn't taste fresh. The flavour was not there. Their was really no sauce or spice. I really don't know what's going on. Perhaps they have gotten complacent. Or just feel that because they have a strong following; that they don't need to worry about it. Also seems like they're not being creative. Like their just making every thing out of a guide. I will definitely return as I believe this must be a a momentary bleep and that they will get back on track. I have always enjoyed Planet Thai. Don't hesitate to give them a try. The staff is all ways friendly. Interior of the restaurant is nice, not too fancy but not fast food either. All the waiters are so attentive and friendly. read more
