    Buffet area

First time here, off the bat - I really liked the friendly staff and service. When I arrived, I was told there were two ways to eat there. Either you ordered from the menu or eat from the buffet area. The buffet area had a okay selection of food and in the back all the meats/chicken were cut by a cook and put on your plate. You also have to weigh your plate of food every time you go to the buffet area, one pound would be $12. The restaurant was empty when I arrived so it was pretty quiet. I enjoyed the chicken and my husband loved the meats. If you have never eaten Brazilian food, the food combinations could be a bit confusing but overall the food was good. I'd definitely give it a try. I would like to return on a weekend to see how the restaurant is on a busy night and would like to return when the buffet area was completely used.

This is an ok spot to go to with friends and family. Being Brazilian myself, it's certainly nice to eat some food from back home. Some things were on point, some were average. Overall, it was an ok experience. I definitely didn't feel like I was I Brazil. I've ate at better restaurants before. I do think they are a bit pricey. They price it by pound so I ordered a water and ate 2 plates of food. As you can see from the photos, it's a buffet style but it's not all you can eat. Although they have that option, I chose to pay per pound to go for the cheaper route.. my 2 plates and water were $25.90. I wouldn't make this an every week spot to go to but it's a ok to go to once in a while. I believe that on the weekends, if you want all you can eat buffet style it's $35 per person. I do also believe that it's cheaper during week days. If you're in the area and you want some Brazilian food, I definitely would try it, maybe you'll really enjoy it. I just don't believe this is authentic Brazilian food! Place is clean, and they play Brazilian music in the background and it's overall an ok place to be in.

My hubby was hankering for a good all you can eat Brazilian steak place, and so we planned to visit mid-week. We arrived early for dinner, and were the second couple there. Were seated promptly by the hostess, who took our drink order right away. We haven't been here for quite a while, and noticed changes. They use to bring the meats in a little cart, no longer. You now go up to the grill and tell the chef which meats you want. I chose the sirloin, pork ribs, Brisket and lamb. Hubby tried those, plus the spicy sausages and garlic beef. What remained the same is you fill your plate with sides. My favorites are the rice, fries and plaintains. So why the low score? Well, the beef was excellent, but the pork tasted like it had the same spice. The brisket was good but by this time, it started to taste real salty. My husband also had the same observations. By our second round, more couples had arrived and our hostesss was awol. I was really thirsty. Then, when we got the bill, the tip was already included. I found that strange. The hostess said it was a suggestion. I told her it was actually low (10%) and that we would give more (we did). Anyway, don't be surprised. Wish i could have given them a 3.5, but couldn't give them a full 4 because of above. Price was more than fair, but make sure you come hungry!

The food was delicious everyone of the workers were their for you and the meat was so tender and delicious

This place has everything you are looking for. My fiancé and I just left after our first time here and everything certainly exceeded all expectations. The buffet was delicious and the chef was so accommodating at the meat station. Everything was top notch and the service was the best I have experienced In a long time. Our servers name was Diego and he treated us absolutely amazing. This was the perfect date night. We can't wait to go back.

It was founded by the Reyes Family of restaurateurs, which includes Luis, Juan & Richard. The Reyes Family immigrated to the United States from the Dominican Republic in 1990. The first eatery they opened in 1991 was Amigo's Deli & Carniceria, which is still going strong today. In 1997, the family opened Minas Carne, which features authentic Brazilian BBQ and traditional sides served in a fast-casual environment. It quickly became a popular staple in Danbury. In 2020, the Reyes Family opened Mariposa Taqueria. It closed in 2026, but the Reyes Family plan to turn it into a second location for Minas Carne which will open soon. I have eaten at Minas Carne numerous times over the years. The restaurant is 400 feet away from Western Connecticut State University's Midtown Campus, and it has long been a popular food option for WestConn students. I myself attended WestConn for both my undergraduate and graduate degrees. Recently I was in Danbury to see a concert, so I decided to stop by Minas Carne for some dinner beforehand. Everything is buffet style here and the line moves quickly. I grabbed a platter and loaded up on some sides such as "White Rice", "Yellow Rice", "Brown Beans", "Meat & Bean Stew", "Fried Chicken", "Beef Stew", and "Seasoned Plantains". Then I headed to the star of the show: the brick-oven charcoal barbeque pit. I asked for a little bit of "Pork Tenderloin" as well as some "Linguiça". Everything was delicious! There's a reason why I've been coming back here again and again for over 20 years. If you're looking for an authentic Brazilian BBQ experience then I highly recommend Minas Carne!

I loaded up the container with rice and collard greens, got 3 chicken wings and garlic steak, and paid $41. It was 2.7 lbs charged at $14.05. But the posted prices were $10.99/lb for combo and $14.49 for meat only. How do they determine pricing? Obviously, it looks like I got only all meat in the photo, but it's sitting on top of rice and collard greens, which, by the way, the rice is very heavy since I got a lot of it. I think that's just a bit deceptive when a restaurant does that kind of crap to their customers. I saw one review from years ago that they do arbitrarily change pricing when they think you got more meat on your plate. That's just plain wrong.

It was our 1st time here and the waiter did a great job of explaining how everything works and how the food will be served. We got the full experience. I had a lamb chop for the 1st time it was amazingly delicious. Flank steak might be new favorite cut. Filet mignon wrapped with bacon. They just keep bringing food to you like you're a "King" or "Queen"!! There was the grilled pineapple and they also had this honey cheese. I'm getting hungry and having flashbacks as aim writing. I can't wait to go back. It's a very nice intimate setting with music playing but just loud enough to hear and still have a conversation. I will definitely be back soon. It's so much more I can say but I think you have to just experience it for yourself. Also remember this all you can eat so bring your appetite. Next time I'll add more pics. As Dana mentioned, when you walk in the building, you will need to turn left and walk past the lively bar (where there will likely be a round football game on TV), before you arrive at Aldeia. Far more subdued than its neighbor on our weekend visit, with well spaced tables draped with white tablecloths, the overall effect is of eating at your avó's after Sunday mass, when important company has been invited over: homey, but special occasiony. Aldeia features simple, straightforward Portuguese standards. There are a lot of grilled options and seafood options, a whole section for bacalhau preparations. (Menu here: https://www.portugueseculturalcenter.org/restaurantmenu) For those who are unused to the practice in Portugal and many other parts of Europe, be aware that there is a couvert -- bread and olives brought out automatically at the start of the meal, for which there is an extra charge. You can refuse it as we did at first. (I hate when our littles fill up on bread and butter and eat nothing else during the meal.) But when the appetizers we ordered (e.g. chouriço) came without the described bread, we relented and asked for the couvert. I was mildly irked at being strong armed into oredering it at first, but those slightly spicy black olives were good enough that I couldn't stay mad for long. We shared a few appetizers: - Chouriço assado - chouriço flambe ("chouriço served on fire with bread") -- Flames are always a hit with the littles and they enjoyed the fat, snappy-skinned, smokey sausage, broiled to taste. The chouriço was chunkier than many commercial versions, conceivably house made. (We've had similar from Erika Nakamura and Jocelyn Guest.) - Frango à passarinho ("fried chicken") -- Undersalted by our standards, not noticeably seasoned, but the chicken was admirably moist, quickly fried at high heat. We are more accustomed to the Brazilian version of this dish and missed the accompaniment of lime and cilantro. - Caldo verde -- a version where a small amount of potato or other starch had been completely pureed into the soup with a small amount of kale and a few bits of chopped chouriço. This was a little too much like Knorr's for my tastes. I personally prefer versions where potato and kale have a less wimpy presence. - Salada de polvo ("octopus, onions, peppers and herbs") -- I am a sucker for this dish (no pun intended) and loved the roughly chopped versions I had at humble seaside cafes in the Azores especially. This version was a elevated version with finely minced onions and peppers, a good amount of olive oil, and delicate slivers of slippery-skinned polvo playing hide and seek in this suspension. - Robalo escalado (grelhado, alho e azeite, vegetais e batatas cozidas) -- The fish was on the smaller side, but fresh and impeccably grilled. Vegetables -- a few broccoli florets, batons of carrot, and potatoes -- were served boiled. It's not my favorite treatment, but they were made far more palatable with the dressing of minced garlic still pale from a quick sautee in oil. - Frango grelhado ("grilled chicken, rice and fries OR small salad and vegetables of the season") -- The Pardner's good angel didn't stand a chance against the prospect of rice AND fries, but sadly, when I tasted it, the rice was a bit hard and the fries soggy, undersalted, and -- oh cardinal sin! -- not served with ketchup. :) The chicken preparation again demonstrated some admirable culinary skills: it was wonderfully moist despite being sliced thin and grilled. But again, the preparation was underseasoned and undersalted for our personal tastes. Another note on authenticity: The service is very....... relaxed, as it is in the Azores and the homeland. We were the only diners in the establishment for some time, but there were long, long lags in service. I have to speculate that our server may have been working the bar room as well given how hard it was to flag him down. (He was quite nice whenever we succeeded in doing so.) It's a shame that I'm an impatient New Yorker. I try to relax into the wait, but I'm not sure I can entirely embrace that in this lifetime.
