Strange menu of sorts (3-options), the way they do it with the weighing (and paying) and such: fixed menu, buffet and churrascaria I did the fixed menu and ordered the Bife à Cavalo. VERY fair and respectable prices for the portions served. No problem there! Had my dish had an 'actual steak' as I was expecting, and not a sheet of thin meat as you would find in a Philly Cheesesteak, the meal would have been 5-star -- instead just a 1! Was pleasantly surprised to find Brahma beer here in addition to a VERY finely prepared and large (not all ice!) Caipirinha! Excelente! The loud thumping EDM music was a bit much for me and like I said, I could have done away with the people all around me like at a wedding table during the dessert and dancing! First time here, off the bat - I really liked the friendly staff and service. When I arrived, I was told there were two ways to eat there. Either you ordered from the menu or eat from the buffet area. The buffet area had a okay selection of food and in the back all the meats/chicken were cut by a cook and put on your plate. You also have to weigh your plate of food every time you go to the buffet area, one pound would be $12. The restaurant was empty when I arrived so it was pretty quiet. I enjoyed the chicken and my husband loved the meats. If you have never eaten Brazilian food, the food combinations could be a bit confusing but overall the food was good. The server didn't speak much English she explained the 11.99 for buffet/ pound and $40/all you can eat. I wasn't exactly crazy about the buffet food. I just ate some French fries, rice and the beans. This is an ok spot to go to with friends and family. Being Brazilian myself, it's certainly nice to eat some food from back home. Some things were on point, some were average. Overall, it was an ok experience. I definitely didn't feel like I was I Brazil. I've ate at better restaurants before. I do think they are a bit pricey. They price it by pound so I ordered a water and ate 2 plates of food. As you can see from the photos, it's a buffet style but it's not all you can eat. Although they have that option, I chose to pay per pound to go for the cheaper route.. my 2 plates and water were $25.90. I wouldn't make this an every week spot to go to but it's a ok to go to once in a while. I believe that on the weekends, if you want all you can eat buffet style it's $35 per person. I do also believe that it's cheaper during week days. If you're in the area and you want some Brazilian food, I definitely would try it, maybe you'll really enjoy it. Showed up and only one lady could speak broken English. Which is cool with me but relevant to the story. We are pointed to a table and told to go get food. We get a little food at the buffet section and go to the grill. All I can get from them is "no,no". Family sits and I ask around and no English. They eventually send the lady who can sort of speak English and she says "grill isn't ready" insinuates it won't be. (At that point they had been open for 45 minutes). So long story short I was charged $130 for two adults and three kids to eat total shit food. They did give me a $9 discount on the adults and $5 on the kids. My hubby was hankering for a good all you can eat Brazilian steak place, and so we planned to visit mid-week. We arrived early for dinner, and were the second couple there. Were seated promptly by the hostess, who took our drink order right away. We haven't been here for quite a while, and noticed changes. They use to bring the meats in a little cart, no longer. You now go up to the grill and tell the chef which meats you want. I chose the sirloin, pork ribs, Brisket and lamb. Hubby tried those, plus the spicy sausages and garlic beef. What remained the same is you fill your plate with sides. My favorites are the rice, fries and plaintains. So why the low score? Well, the beef was excellent, but the pork tasted like it had the same spice. The brisket was good but by this time, it started to taste real salty. My husband also had the same observations. By our second round, more couples had arrived and our hostesss was awol. I was really thirsty. Then, when we got the bill, the tip was already included. I found that strange. The hostess said it was a suggestion. I told her it was actually low (10%) and that we would give more (we did). Anyway, don't be surprised. Wish i could have given them a 3.5, but couldn't give them a full 4 because of above. Price was more than fair, but make sure you come hungry! read more

The buffet was delicious and the chef was so accommodating at the meat station. Everything was top notch and the service was the best I have experienced In a long time. I have eaten at countless Brazilian Steak houses across the country. I have enjoyed the experience at everywhere except this one. The service was lousy. They offered no true churascaria experience. They had a Chinese style buffet with one selection of steak and it was over cooked. The chicken was over salted and as nice as they were the servers didn't understand how a restaurant works. When I got my check it already had a ten percent tip built right in i guess that's the only way they get a tip at all. Not to my liking in any way. I don't recommend this restaurant. A bit frustrated. Not going back here. Came in for a quick dinner. Me and the 2 kids. The 3 of us ate, each had a fresh juice, and I took some meat home for Mike. Now, if you don't know, this is a buffet restaurant where you pay for the weight of your food. $9.99/lb. When I went to pay, my bill was $82 - which I thought it was a lot. Then I went to sign my receipt and decided to give a $10 tip - note here I usually do give 20% - but I served myself, brought my plate to the table, the waiter just brought me drinks. Then I get to the car and decided to look at my $92 receipt and noticed that there was a $17.50 TIP charge. I go back in to ask why was I charged that much. He proceeds to simply tell me, that's what you gave. I was like, no I gave $10. Oh that was on top of the AUTOMATIC 10% ADDED TO TOUR CHECK. Wait what???? YEP. HE WAS LIKE, it was on the receipt you signed. And you added $10. I was like, well I didn't even notice that and wouldn't have given any extra if I knew. He was basically like: Oh well. So wait, this is a self service buffet, I was a party of one adult and two kids - and they auto charged me 10%????? I was confused about the extreme differences in reviews, so I decided togo check it out myself! As we walked in on a Saturday night, around 8:00, it was very hard to find a parking space. The lamb, which is my favorite meat was cooked to a medium well which I think is way over cooked. I tried to get a rare piece twice but was told they didn't have any. I really like the hot sausage. The waitress was nice, but drink menus should be on the table in order to speed up the process. My Old Fashioned got to the table after I was just about finished eating. The buffet items were decent. The meat was not the best quality cuts but for $15.99 per person it was not bad. The inside of the place needs updating. The live entertainment singer was a bit loud for a dinner conversation. This is a place we just recently discovered. A Brazilian steak house with many types of succulent meats including top sirloin, lamb, chicken, and sausages. This along with an impressive buffet of all types of Brazilian staples as well as American. Everything I had here was delicious! Rice cooked very good, beans delicious and ribs, chicken wings, etc all moist and tender with great flavor! Everything I had was cook to perfection and the wait staff was attentive and right there asking how everything was and if they could get anything else for us. This is definitely a place I will be coming back too, great grilled meats and sides for a very reasonable price! They give you so much meat it is hard to go up more than a couple of times! Let me put it into layman's terms how I break it down: Atmosphere: 1 star- really gives the impression that it was once a gentleman's club converted to a restaurant. Blacked out windows mezzanine seating with lounge sign still illuminated. Very cold unwelcoming interior brighter than a McDonald's on the inside. Food- 1.5 stars- sparse salad bar to say the least. Condiment / side dish bar cold and unappetizing. Meats- some served cold mostly fatty pieces of meat . You could easily tell it's not quality pieces of meat. Service- 3 stars. Hostess waiters / waitresses were friendly and attentive no problems here besides a little bit of a language barrier but no big deal. Overall... I'm really glad the snowstorm this past weekend didn't ruin my plans of trying Planeta Brazil out and even if the roads were truly bad on Sunday, I would've probably found a way to get over there. Brazilian BBQ on the day after a blizzard? Count me in. This place was originally Coyote Maverick's a couple years back, but more recently got turned into Planeta Brazil, your one-stop restaurant for everything delicious. Now, I haven't dipped totally into Brazilian food, but I have gone to the few around Danbury to know my way around the cuisine. There were four of us and we were seated promptly at a table near the wall. Did I mention this place is huge? It WAS Maverick's after all, so I wasn't totally surprised, but they did such a great job remodeling it to accustom their restaurant that I forgot how big the previous bar was. Our waitress (I think her name was Camilla, or Camille, I can't remember) was awesome and sweet and explained everything on the menu, especially how to order. You can order straight from the menu, get whatever food you want at the buffet/grill and pay by weight, or just go full-blown rodizio style where you have access to the buffet, but the guys at the grill come around with carts and serve you meat table-side. That was a game winner, no questions asked. The buffet offered a plentiful amount of Brazilian cuisine and even some American notes thrown in the mix for those who aren't totally accustomed to Brazilian food. They even had sushi at one end too which I didn't get a chance to try. After loading up our plates and chowing down, the grill crew slowly became pushing their carts to our table to carve up whatever was on their skewers. We had bacon wrapped chicken, pork ribs, beef ribs, steak, and two different types of sausages. Everything was super delicious and for those who have food allergies, they made sure they said what kind of meat so you'll know prior to them serving you. $30 later and four full bellies, we were done and boy was it worth it. This place is amazing and even though I'm a huge fan of Minas, if I plan on spending a bit more I have no problem coming back. 100% recommended. read more

Well I'm giving this two stars and thought about 1...the meat having good seasoning is the only reason for the extra star. Waitstaff is nearly non existent. Took a while for any of the meat skewers to get over to us, and the place wasn't very busy. Now I know you go to a Brazilian steakhouse for the meat, but their "buffet" and "salad bar" was one of the saddest things I've ever seen. Salad was pre made, pre mixed and the platter you served from was barely enough for one person. The veg on the buffet was cold and had no seasoning whatsoever. The meat was a small bright spot, but only the top sirloin, which only came around once and we had to ask for it the second time, and the server looked annoyed at us for asking. They brought out the cheaper cuts first, chicken and sausage, etc, and we always had to ask for the beef. Again...a bargain meal and you definitely get what you pay for. Excellent food and service. The lady at the front desk who took our reservation yesterday is just amazing - she could easily work at a five star hotel. Its never-ending food at a very reasonable price served by warm and welcoming servers. You go get buffet and as you eat - they come around with skewers of meat that they slice on to your plate till you just can't eat anymore. The salad bar is decent but limited- maybe 10 options give or take. Unfortunately they were slow in replacing empty or almost empty dishes. So even when I asked a few times for the (amazing) chiffenade of sauté kale w garlic to be filled it took them so long that I was done w my meal by the time it came out.
