The buffet was great but the meats were even better. I highly recommend trying out their caipirinha. The place definitely improved under new ownership. It was a bit pricey compare to other Brazilian steakhouses. The bar area is small and it was isolated all the way on the back next to the bathrooms. Our caipirinhas took a long time to be brought over. During the process of weighting my dinner plate, the meat cutter took care of the this too. I was a bit surprised he went back to cutting the meats without washing his hands after touching the computer screen. I did not like the fact that the check included a complementary tip for the waiters already. Even if you are eating there by yourself the tip gets included. The waitress dress code was a bit too proactive for a family oriented place to eat at. They should definitely tie their hair back. Finally, the live music was great. I did not expect that but it gave a nice vibe to the environment. The singer was really talented. However, the live music was a bit too loud to have a conversation with someone while eating. One word describes it all - Horrible. The meat was not served table side, you had to go to the counter. Not well seasoned, over cooked and just an awkward situation. As poor as the meat was, the real disappointment here was the salad/side bar. It was poorly stocked, and most of the dishes were on the steam table too long. We actually steered away from several items because they looked too old. I am a person who loves to experience different cultures and foods. We gave it a try. The spanish speaking folks in front of us got the best cuts of meat I can imagine and the chef was so particular with them to slice and give them wonderful cuts. When my turn came he said the steak was all gone and brought out fatty brisket and pork. He told me the steak was all gone. I dont often feel discriminated against. If I take the time to come to your eating place then believe me I am an American who is with you and believes we should do better by you. I will never go here again. Delish! Went in with some coworkers for lunch. They offer the experience ( red and green card where you have table side service ) or you can help yourself and pay for your plate by the pound. It's a nice option if you don't have a lot of time to sit and do the all you can eat. I had the sirloin , ribs, sausage and chicken. All were cooked and seasoned to perfection. We didn't waste our time with the salad bar, which is smaller than some other Brazilian steakhouses I've been to, but that's ok because they want you to fill up it the cheap stuff. Don't get the Rodizio option, otherwise you will wait for the meats to be delivered. Pay by the pound and you get good value. We are from the Hartford area and happened to be in the area for the day and as a brazilian i was looking for some good brazilian food because there's really nothing towards Hartford and going through yelp i came around Planeta restaurant which had AMAZING food and even BETTER customer service! Super attentive staff and great atmosphere! Rodizio's price was pretty reasonable but the "by the weight" I thought it was a bit pricey, in my opinion. Been here three times already for (long, meat heavy) lunches. Pay for the pound is definitely the way to go - it's a great deal. The cuts of meat are decent and the sides are fine. This place is solid and well worth it. The only negative is the atmosphere is frankly a bit bland. This feels like a cafeteria. I'm not looking for entertainment or kitschy, garish or silly decorations, but this place comes off s bit bland with respect to atmosphere - at least during the day. Last week we had several prepared meats over the span of several days: hot sausage, mild sausage, chicken, boiled beef, and smoked salmon. The smoked salmon was very good. The boiled beef was very chewy and seemed to need more cooking. I'm sure I didn't get the best portions of the chicken by the time I got to it but it could be better! I came in for lunch on a Sunday for the first time. Immediately I was impressed by the buffet and meats roasting over the fire. I am from Portugal, so I was surprised by how similar the food was. The way they run the food system is very interesting. You can order Rodízio, which is where the person comes out with meats and they slice it custom to the way you want it cooked. When you order Rodízio, you also get unlimited access to the buffet. If you don't want Rodízio, you can get plates from the buffet and meats from the roasting station part. When you do this, you pay a price per pound of food that you have on your plate. The food was good, but the only downside was that it was pretty overpriced. I would recommend it to someone who doesn't mind paying a little extra money. read more

I hate to leave negative reviews but "Brazilian Steakhouse" is a deceiving name. The buffet was awful! Everything was dried up, all gone, and disgusting on a Friday night you would think it would have been fresh. The fresh meat from the rotisserie was good but very salty. The waitress was sweet but the only one for the entire restaurant and did not know the drinks well as we ordered a "special" drink with vodka and lime but it was lime and cheap tequila. The decor was cheap gave the appearance of a cheap gentleman's club. I'm not sure how there are so many positive reviews but I will never be back. read more

I have been here twice . Yes twice; against my better judgment . But my son wanted to go back. Go figure. The interior is very unappealing and looks more like a cafeteria than a restaurant . The "buffet" looked so unappetizing that I was reluctant to take anything. Of all the meats ( a lot of chicken (even chicken hearts) and sausage) they came around with I only really liked the the beef. You have to wait for them to come around to get more of what you want. Have to give it 5 stars based on our experience . 4 of us went on a weeknight and my two teenage sons had the $20 all you can eat feast and loved it. My husband and I weren't starving so we simply got what we wanted and paid by weight. The food and service were excellent. I lost count of the selections of meats that my sons got served tableside. They loved them, especially the sirloin and the chicken bacon. The waitress even brought us cheese bread poppers fresh from the oven after I inquired about something they didn't have. Their beer menu is very basic (not for craft beer enthusiasts) so my husband and I split a very reasonably priced bottle of wine. Instead of presenting you with delicious cuts of beef, lamb ,and chicken, Planeta Brasil serves up overcooked sausage and dried out chicken plus many poor cuts of meat wrapped in bacon and stuffed with cheese, all for the "low" price of $30 per person. First time we went there we had great service and great food. Well....last night we went there and it was terrible. Some food was very over done, the salad bar buffets were sparsely stocked having only about half the items as it did the first time we were there and there weren't any servers...3 employees for the entire place. We were told instead of having our food served to us, we had to walk up to the grills, stand in a lengthy line and retrieve your own food. We even had to clean and clear our own table. If we hadn't been there prior to last night...last night this would have been the first and last time. We were told ONE girl called out. One person calling out sick should not put a place in ruins. I will have to make reservations next time, and confirm that they have proper staffing BEFORE I go there to eat. And that is IF I go back.
