Used to love their pizza. Made special efforts to order tonight. Terrible service! Place an order for pick up on line. arrived couple of minutes before the appointed time. Asked about the order. Was told by two people it would be a few minutes. Trying not to be "that @@@ guy" I sat and waited, 45MINUTES. Finally had to be annoying so that someone would check. Came back here for the great pizza and salads. Friendly staff. A cute restaurant that you would think they would be a sustainable place concerned for the environment, unfortunately, they use styrofoam! I will not return until they stop using styrofoam for to go boxing. When they handed me a styrofoam box for my leftover of 2 slices of pizza, I was appalled. Mind you they have cardboard pizza boxes they give when you order a pizza to go, so I asked for them to give me a pizza box instead to take my slices home with me so at least I could recycle the box. Really pretty bad. First, ther service.. really slow... and rude. No one in our party even complained about the wait, and the server simply set it down and said "here you go." Drinks, ignored. We were a group of 3, nothing crazy. The pizza... burned. Very little toppings and sauce. Barely any cheese. Not worth the price at all. Went September 9 with family. It's in an old house, and just lovely. You order at the counter and pay. Take a seat. They bring out your food. Most everybody got the 8-inch pizza lunch special with salad ($11). Big Sis got a full size of the Plank Road Classic Salad -- Iceberg and romaine, provel, tomato, red onion, pepperoncini with house-made dressing. The salad served with the lunch special was a smaller Classic Salad. It was really tasty, fresh, and the house-made dressing was just too on-point. For pizza: I got the Plank Road pizza -- Seasoned roasted chicken, smoked bacon, red onion, mozz, tomatoes, romaine, mayonnaise aioli and fresh avocado. This was ridiculously good!! Around the table, other pizzas: The St. Charles Street -- Buffalo seasoned chicken, hot sauce, red onion, roasted garlic, mozz, gorgonzola, topped with celery and ranch drizzle. This was my BIL's, and he added jalepenos. The Main Street -- House-made tomato sauce and olive oil, roasted garlic, roma tomatoes, mozz, parm, oregano and fresh basil. I'd heard good things about this restaurant. We went early on Pi Day thinking there might be a crowd. There was one other party eating in and a couple of carry-outs. We ordered a half salad (shared it), a pizza & one beer. With tip it was $32. The pizza was only 10 inches round. It was good, but not spectacular. It was cut in fourths which meant we had to cut each slice again to be able to eat it without the toppings falling off. The salad had the lettuce cut in very small pieces. There were a few croutons, very little cheese, and a lot of onions. Pepperoncinis were supposed to be on the salad but they weren't. We asked the server and she brought us two. The salad was served piled high on a small plate. It was almost impossible to put the dressing on without lettuce flying everywhere. If we had gone to our favorite pizza place, for the same money, we would have had a lot more food and even taking home some for tomorrow. This place does have a unique menu and interesting combinations of pizza. For the money, we would've been definitely been better going someplace else. read more

I was out driving on a beautiful Sunday afternoon with a friend and ended up in Cottleville. We decided Plank Road Pizza looked good and I vaguely remember reading a STL magazine post about it. I ordered a lunch special. For $10.90 you get a small chopped salad and any pizza. I chose meatball. The salad was fresh but the dressing had little to no flavor. The pizza was disappointing. The meatballs had no flavor and were overbooked. The sauce was actually good but was not on the entire pizza. It seemed to be concentrated up near the crust. The cheese was also not evenly spread and wasn't hot. So many great pizza places in St. Louis. This was a miss for me today. read more

The food at this establishment was outstanding. The variety of toppings and crust will be reason for me to return. Though small, the dining area was well kept and relatively quiet. Since this is a new establishment, some kinks are to be expected. If this venue is to survive, its service will need to improve. It took 25 minutes to get one pizza, which is not unreasonable; but it took 35 minutes to get my son's cheese pizza and 45 minutes to get our dessert pizza. During this time we were notified that they were coming several times. If I had known it was going to take as long as it did, I would have purchased chips to get my son going. During this time my wife had to hold our son the entire time balancing him on her lap. As we were leaving I was informed that they did have high chairs in a closet, which would have been helpful when they took our order or had posted a sign. Realizing this may be an off night, the food is worth giving it another try, but I will need to give them some time to revisit their service issues. read more

My experience at Plank Road was... interesting to say the least. The first time I went there to eat, I noticed the food seems a bit... pricey. Especially since Mod pizza is right down the road (less expensive for in my opinion, similar tastes). As the people in the kitchen were vaping, I couldn't help but wonder how that is allowed... it's a fine establishment. The aesthetic of the whole place is very nice, and well decorated, but I never can forget how the staff was presenting themselves. The people who served my food, though, were very friendly. Two girls came to check on my food periodically. Considering the joint is an order at the counter type place, I wasn't expecting it at all! The second time I went there, just recently during the whole COVID-19 outbreak, I got my curbside pick up order for my step-mother. None of the workers were wearing masks as they were bringing food out to the cars. I assume none were wearing them inside either then... masks are not to be worn to protect yourself, but to protect others, which I find, in a restaurant, is interesting considering the circumstances. read more

I personally live really close to Plank Road, going to high school within walking distance. I've always heard great things about Plank Road and how it has a more "home feel" than your typical pizza parlor. The service was great and friendly from the counter to your table. I like the simplicity of ordering at the register when you walk in and it gets served to you when it's ready. Comparable to Fazoli's service style. The atmosphere there is very home like that gives you that vibe. I didn't sit outside on the patio, but it looks like a great place to plan a date at. Only complaint would be the indoor seating. No real privacy because the tables are really scrunched together. The food was delicious for what it was. It was a unique way of making pizza. It could get a little pricey if you don't get the lunch special. But then again the prices are pretty fair for the home made taste. I will give it a 4 stars. It was up to my expectations but didn't blow me away in any way. I will be back. Highly recommend it! read more

When I went inside to ask for the cheese the chick at the counter seemed irritated that I even asked. Brought out the pizzas with no plates or napkins. Had to ask. My boyfriend and I ate here earlier this week and man, was that some good pizza! The atmosphere was nice and cozy on a rainy, windy day. We both had the lunch special, one Hemphill and one Boones Lick. Both were delicious. My Boones Lick could have used a tad more cheese. Had the salad not been sooooo onion-y I probably would have given it 5 stars. The Plank Rd salad had great flavor otherwise, but next time I'm going to ask them to go easy on the red onion (bf didn't mind one bit). They have the traditional options, but my favorites are the not-so-ordinary combinations (spicy chicken is fantastic and the spinach artichoke is a personal favorite). Terrible service. I ordered 2 lunch specials. The salads took 30 min to come out and we never got our pizzas. When I saw the group behind us in line get their pizzas, I went inside to ask for an update on when ours would be ready. I was met with hostility immediately and told that the placards aren't in numerical order. I told the guy, not sure if it was a manager or not, that it was the group behind us in line and he responded with "Well sometimes the tickets get jumbled". He proceeded to tell me it'll be ready in a "couple minutes." I'm convinced they lost our ticket and put our pizza in then because it doesn't take 50 minutes to make a personal pan pizza. When I went up a 2nd time roughly 5 minutes later, they told me it would be another 5 minutes. I requested a refund and will never be returning. Not only was this employee rude from the get go, but they aren't very worried about Covid safety precautions. No masks, gloves, or social distancing. read more

I ordered through Grub Hub tonight and after waiting for an hour and a half for my order to arrive I get a call from GrubHub Operations that Plank Road cancelled my order because Plank Road had problems processing my payment. Had PR had a phone or maybe one of the enlightened ones at the store could have used their cells to call me immediately following when they noticed their card payment system was down, which was why they couldn't process the card, I could have found somewhere else to eat. Self proclaimed pizza snob here with an opinion. This place has potential. The crust is good and the ingredients are fresh tasting. The sauce however, has too much of every spice in it. You don't need to dress up sauce on a pizza. Go down to Costco and get some San Marzano tomatos in a can and add some garlic n olive oil. It will taste cleaner and better. Tried Plank Road Pizza for the first time today. It is a cool little place with enough room to seat maybe 20 or 25 comfortably inside and a really awesome patio for dining on nice days. You order at the counter and they take the pizza out to your table. I got the lunch special which is an 8" pizza and chopped house salad. The salad was better than expected and had good crunch from the diced red onion and presumably house made croutons. It was pretty well timed as far the pizza coming out as my buddy and I finished off our salads. I ordered "The Plank Road" which is a chicken bacon club pizza that comes with mozzarella, mayo aioli, tomato, onion and is topped with romaine as well as the chicken and bacon. Really a good little pizza with a lot of flavor. The aioli had a good amount of garlic flavor, which I really like, although I know that can turn some people off (especially on a date if you don't have a couple sticks of spearmint on you) but it was very good. My only issue with the pizza was that there was a bit too much lettuce piled on it which kind of got messy when trying to eat it. Service was very good as expected by checking out there website before I went (they claim to have a "nice staff" on their website and they were telling the truth). Overall the price was fair in my opinion. $10 for a salad and 8" pizza. Check this place out if you're in or around St. Peters/O'Fallon/Cottleville. Solid place, didn't blow me away but I would definitely go back. read more

I was excited to try this new spot and was hoping it would be good and IT SO WAS! The lunch special is an 8inch of any pizza and their salad for $10. Even the salad was great and had pizza crust croutons! I got the BBQ pork pizza and it was perfect. Pizza crust was nice and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Split a s'mores dessert pizza which was gooey and yummy. Service was great too! You order and then take a seat and they bring your food to your table. People are always checking up on you to make sure you're doing alright which is nice. The owner made a point to check on everyone and clearly cares about the whole experience. This is a very welcome addition to the up and coming Cottleville area. The building itself is very cool. Has a large, welcoming patio, and it has quite a bit of space inside. We went on a stormy night and the power flickered a few times. That was to be expected from such an old building. The staff was very friendly though, which made up for it. I got the Buffalo Chicken pizza. Reminded me quite a bit of PW Pizza, which is a very good thing. The girls got a salad and a BBQ pizza. They were impressed with everything. The entertainment of the night came from a very pregnant lady getting locked into the bathroom for at least 7-10 minutes. It took quite a few guys to figure out how to get her out. She took it like a sport and was joking that it's okay she can have the baby now that she isn't locked in the bathroom. So ladies... you've been warned, be VERY careful when locking the door to make sure you don't lock yourself in too. My only negative comment really has to do with the pricing vs. the portions. It is one of the more expensive pizza places around. That being said... it is also one of the best. read more
