This is my second time leaving a review for PSS. In my last review, I mentioned that I had previous work done elsewhere. Including a Breast Augmentation, tummy tuck, and rhinoplasty. My results were not as I hoped, especially for how much money was spent. When I expressed these concerns to my previous surgeon, they went unheard. At PSS, Dr. Douglas performed my revision Breast Augmentation a couple years ago, and they look more beautiful than ever. His work absolutely stands the test of time and I am still so grateful for his ability to listen and address my concerns with care and precision. Recently, I visited Dr. Douglas and his team as my rhinoplasty results from my previous surgeon had also become problematic. I was concerned with the appearance as it had definitely changed over time. Dr. Douglas not only made my nose look incredible, he also fixed my breathing and it has been absolutely life changing. I couldn't have asked for a better outcome and he truly went above and beyond. I also had an upper blepharoplasty done during my nose revision and it has made the most subtle and beautiful difference. I truly feel like me still, just with tiny enhancements that made the perfect amount of difference. You can't ask for better than that! Had a recent appointment at PSS for HALO & BBL laser. Despite Covid, the check-in process was smooth & easy. The procedure was relatively painless (numbing cream is your friend) and comfortable. The results are amazing. It's been three weeks and by far, the best non-invasive procedure I've had. The recovery was about 4-5 days with redness, slight swelling and sloughing off of pigment but after a week, my skin looked great. Highly recommend the PSS team!!! read more

I had a terrible experience with PSS as did a coworker of mine. I was improperly screened for the Orbera gastric balloon. I had a consultation with Dr. Hvistendahl where I inquired about a fat transfer procedure. The woman assisting with my consult suggested a gastric balloon. It sounded quite easy. I was made to believe it would teach me portion control and I'd get to work with a nutritionist, Bethany. Well, turns out, you should have a BMI of at least 30 for this procedure, which I didn't. It went very poorly and I was miserable for about a month. The general surgeon was not able to get the balloon out, so I had to be woken up from anesthesia to be told my nightmare was not over. I was rescheduled with a GI specific surgeon who finally removed the balloon. Bethany told me she would still work with me as a nutritionist as I paid $9,000 for a procedure I was not heavy enough to qualify for in the first place. Not shockingly, I never heard from her again and no refund was offered. I reached out to the doctors of PSS requesting a refund or at least a partial refund, seeing as the program isn't designed for people my size at all. They ignored me as well. A coworker of mine was the appropriate size for the Orbera procedure and was also treated poorly by Bethany. She did not lose any weight, so the balloon and the "nutritionist" are both a joke. Look around for other plastic surgeons if you're looking for professionals. read more

Went to PSS for Botox. It was my first time having the procedure done and I can't thank enough all the friendly staff especially Kelly. I have received amazing care from the entire PSS team, from the initial consult through post-operative check-ups and treatments. I was interested in learning about mastopexy but had had disheartening consults with other doctors at other practices. So by the time I found PSS, I had scaled down my hopes and only reached out to learn more about radiofrequency skin treatments. The nurse who met with me, Julie, was so upbeat and knowledgeable, though, and encouraged me to meet with Dr. Douglas to get his opinion. I'm so so glad I did. I was impressed by the breadth of his experience doing reconstructive surgeries and his take on mastopexy was exactly what I was looking for but had been told elsewhere wasn't possible for me. Other doctors had suggested augmenting a lift with implants, which I was unwilling to do. But Dr. Douglas showed me imaging to give me an idea of what could be reasonably expected of a lift without implants and I decided to move forward. Lyvia helped me coordinate the surgery and pre-op appointments and did a fabulous job of helping me understand what to expect and what sort of things I needed to do for myself in order to have a great outcome. And honestly, I think the actual results look way better than the images from that initial consultation! Their approach to post-operative care was also incredible. Every single nurse I've seen through surgery into post-op (Paige, Kelly, Julia, Heather, Emily, everyone) was so kind, professional, cheerful, and skilled. Following their recommendations I had zero complications post-surgery and never needed to take heavy pain medications. The thought and detail he put into my surgery is apparent to me. I've healed well, the scars are small and manageable, and I feel so confident and elated by how I look and feel. It's literally a weight off my very tired shoulders. Once I had the all-clear from Dr. Douglas I started the laser scar treatments with Emily. Emily is the sweetest nurse and has made the scar treatments very easy. They're definitely a challenging experience, but Emily is really supportive and empathetic and is great at making sure I'm as comfortable and checks in during the whole treatment. To supplement the recovery I also started the Scarlet radiofrequency treatments and those are fantastic! I wasn't sure what to expect but my skin felt open and supple immediately afterwards. I will be following up with additional Scarlet treatments for sure. read more

I had an absolutely horrible experience with PSS. Had my first breast augmentation in June of 2020. When I went in for a consult with Dr. Hvistendal, I was hoping to get a B size as I was a former college athlete and had a particular lean frame. Dr. Hvistendal was adamant that I needed a D size to fill out my chest wall. He said if I elected to go with B's or even C's, it wouldn't look good and would look as if I had tiny tennis balls on my chest. I went back and forth on the decision over a couple of weeks while Dr. H remained telling me that the D's were needed. Going with the professional's advice, I went with the larger D size which has resulted in two botched surgeries. About four months after the first surgery, an issue in one implant developed where my natural breast tissue was separating from the implant that looked deformed with a hard touch. Additionally, the other implant was sagging as my own natural tissue couldn't hold it up. Upon meeting with him, he said he would take care of it at no cost. His words were "Don't worry, I have got you covered girl!" Though the issues were at no fault of my own and only four months after I had the first surgery, he later went back on his word and his office manager told me I would have to pay $2k or they wouldn't be fixing the problems. In February of 2021, I had the second surgery where he fixed both of the issues. Five months later, both implants started to dramatically sag. After having another appointment with him, he told me that the reason both of the implants were sagging was that the implants were too big for my body. He told me that he would need to operate on me a third time and this time it would be $1500. So after adamantly pushing for me to get the size that he thought would be best, I am two surgeries later with large sagging boobs and somehow I am responsible for paying again if they are to be fixed. Not only is this place a complete money grab, but the scheduler was also absolutely horrible in terms of my appointments. On more than one occasion, I drove from my home in Menlo Park all the way to Larkspur to get there and be told the doctor was actually too booked to see me. Additionally, the doctor referred to my boobs as "the girls" which was entirely creepy and unprofessional. I am very disappointed in the decision to take my health and money to PSS. This business will never slice open my body again. read more

I had been wanting breast augmentation for a very long time and of course was cautious and nervous about the whole situation. So I've been pretty hesitant about writing this review for a few months now. I'm a very private person when it comes to getting work done, but I have so much respect for Dr. Poulos that I'm willing to put myself on blast so that his hard work won't go unappreciated. I first met Dr. Poulos about 6 years ago, it was the summer after high school and a few months before the start of college. I was moving to a new city and knew that it was the best time to get my nose done. I have always been self conscious about my huge nose, so after numerous consults with multiple doctors, I came across Dr. Poulos and fell in love with his work. I don't want to go into too much detail about the rhinoplasty surgery, because I have written another review specifically for it. But I will say loving my results so much the first time around, definitely made me want to come and see Dr. Poulos again when I started considering a procedure to help me lose some stubborn belly fat. I want to first start off with saying I've always been pretty happy and confident about my body, but the stress of work and everyday life eventually caught up to me and without realizing it, I had let myself go. I tried very hard to lose the weight on my own, but my shape was completely ruined and nothing seemed to be working. Once I had done my research and had a few procedures in mind, I called Dr. Poulos's office and was able to get in for a consultation that very week. Even though so much time had passed by, Dr. Poulos and his staff instantly recognized me and was so warm and welcoming. I told him my concerns and he went over the different procedures for reducing belly fat. Afterwards I had a little financial meeting with Rene (office manager) and I weighed out my options (Cool sculpting/Liposuction/Fat Transfer) and after some time decided the fastest and cheapest procedure would actually be full on surgery. I scheduled my surgery with Rene, and paid for 50% of it once they had reserved my OR time. Leading up to the surgery, the staff was so involved and very supportive. They make sure you are 100% on board, and answer all of your questions and want you to be comfortable going into it. A week prior to the surgery I went in for a pre-op and was given my prescriptions, prep instructions, took my before photos and had a meeting with the Doctor. On the day of the surgery, I had another meeting with Dr. Poulos and he marked up my body, told me once again what he would be taking out/adding and I showed him a few photos of what I wanted to look like (yes, I showed him Kylie Jenner's instagram)and we made sure we were both on the same page. After the surgery came a few weeks of healing, which was very painful but the pain killers were so strong that the whole healing process was kind of a blur. Dr. Poulos and his nurse were very consistent with the healing process, and would call to check-in on me and see if I needed anything. It was not a fun process at all, but it was nice knowing that he still cared about his patients and made sure I was healing as expected. It has now been a few months, and although I do have very minor swelling my body has really taken its shape well. Every morning I wake up so happy and feel like I have a better version of my body back. I'm wearing clothes I never thought I could pull off, and my friends constantly admire my new curves. I'm still in shock and have not yet accepted that this is my new body, I just can't believe this is permanent and real!! The name of the actual procedure I believe is Brazilian Butt Lift, Dr. Poulos took out fat from my belly, back, hips, inner thighs and injected some of it in my butt. I'm not 100% sure what the medical terms are but I do know that my body looks absolutely amazing. It has only been a few months, so once my swelling goes down I will post my before and after photos. This procedure was worth every penny, and I have a body that even with years of working out/dieting I could never have obtained. I have curves in all the right places, and am so thankful that I was able to have this procedure done. Dr. Poulos is such an amazing doctor, and has really changed my life. He's made me confident again, and I really owe it all to him. And for anyone seriously considering going through this process and has any questions for me, go ahead and message me! I saw Dr. Poulos over 10 years ago. I have not written this review because I did not want to go public. I went in for eyelid surgery and he talked me into a forehead lift because he said just doing the eyelid lift wouldn't give me the results i wanted. After the surgery, i realized I could not move half of my eyebrows. He had cut the muscles between my eyebrows without my approval. I have had years of frozen expressions and neurological pain that goes into my scalp. My forehead has odd permanent creases now that are very unattractive. I went back a number of times and he reassured me it would resolve and suggested botox to relieve the new unattractive wrinkles in my forehead he created. The results were not good. read more
