This basic coffee shop offers various coffee and tea selections cold or hot, it also has a small sandwich menu. I opted for the pumpkin coffee and it was ok, the brew was quite strong so I couldn't really taste the pumpkin, my daughter's London Fog tea was refreshing and good. We also ordered a Ham and Swiss Croissant and a Reuben Panini, they come with some pickle slices and chips on the side. My daughter enjoyed her Reuben but I found my Ham and Swiss Croissant lacking flavor. It was very thin and lacking both ham and cheese. I wouldn't order the sandwiches again, not worth the price. The girl that took our order seemed tired or like she just wanted her shift to end, she wasn't rude just inattentive. This coffee shop is located on a great spot and the inside is very spacious and has lots of small tables and chairs but it's not very cozy. They do have a sofa seating area on one of the corners. This place has lots of potential but right now it just doesn't have much ambiance, the atmosphere feels very clinical to me and my daughter agreed. Plateau Espresso was a great place to stop in Alamogordo on our road trip. My boyfriend & I came in looking for a cold drink, and there were tons of options. I ordered the blended coffee with creme de coco syrup, and I would describe it as a slightly creamier version of a frappuccino from Starbucks. We both really enjoyed this one! The coffee shop itself is located in a great spot to see Alamogordo, and if stay for longer than we did there are plenty of tables to chat or study at. read more

If you are sick of big chain coffee shops, you have to try this place. Very good iced and hot espresso drinks. I believe they roast their own coffee beans. This is my go to place to relax and have a cup of coffee on the weekends and get my kids a giant chocolate chip cookie. They also have good sandwiches for breakfast and lunch. read more

Only have visited once but we were there to have a coffee and watch the sunset over the mountains. I had the cappuccino and wife had a triple espresso. There is a prob here with "atmosphere " as it should be a winner with the great views of the Tularosa Basin and the town of Alamogordo. I think this used to be a restaurant and there's just too much room for a coffee shop. Not sure how you fix that. read more

PRAISEEEE FOR THIS COFFEE SHOP My husband and I are on our honeymoon visiting national parks and monuments. We had to make a stop at White Sands on our last leg home! Hidden coffee house off of Scenic Drive right near Christus St. Vincent that has a drive-thru. Smiling employees who were happy to serve me a large coffee and tuna panini to go. We have relatives that live in town and while visiting asked them where to go for coffee. They didn't blink and told us Plateau. Not only is it a cool drive and scenic location but they have great coffees and sandwich bites etc! REALLLLY enjoyed this frappe with my grandson! This was FAR and away better than Starbucks and you don't have to go inside a grocery store (come on Alamogordo lol. Ruidoso even has a freestanding Starbucks with a drive through.) but no matter. You won't ever even miss Starbucks. Decent inside. A little bland but comfy but holy smokes the high plains desert mountains for a backdrop are gorgeous. I always have a wonderful experience here. The staff is constantly friendly, the coffee is amazing, and I love being able to get my free drink after filling up my punch card. I've been here so often that the staff know me and my drink order even before I open my mouth and it's made ordering so much easier. The drinks are consistently delicious and the atmosphere is calm and relaxing. Mostly, I sit outside, drink my coffee and read or write. It's my go-to getaway. The sunsets here are incredible. COVID WARNING: I've been a Plateau customer for a long time but quit going when employees stopped wearing masks or requiring customers to. Plateau is near the University of NM, Alamogordo, so the employees and most of their customers are young, healthy and know they would probably survive Covid. They're also more savvy that the average person and must know about silent spread. But they evidently don't care about their customers or those their customers' families, coworkers and friends. This level of selfishness is stunning. I would remind them that what goes around comes around. Especially in a pandemic. Without symptoms, even with a negative test a week old, they could start a short chain of infection that will kill someone they care about. It's a large room, usually not crowded, and does have an outdoor area. So if you don't mind a "young and health" person breathing on you, go ahead. But I'm 77 years old, and my life is worth more than a cup of coffee. read more

I'm at my wits end with this place. The coffee is good, but the flies, specifically the gnats, are a real damned problem and makes it a miserable experience. Why continue coming here, buying coffee and a sandwich and in return having to struggle to get any work done on my laptop because I'm constantly being bombarded by gnats and having to swat them, be distracted by them and constantly losing my focus? So I'm giving up and will now be going to the Big International Chain on White Sands Blvd, even though there's usually never any seating there and I don't care for their coffee.
