Everything was good...until a cockroach landed on my arm.
Response of the manager: To ask what happened, give apologies, a discount on the check, and a last troubling question he inquired:
...Was it a flying one??
(This last one question still spins in my mind. Was asked about it because: a)Have they a diverse variety as part of their offering? b)Was a justification question due to the possibility of emigration from the outside landings of isla verde towards this place? Or c)Is it because those particular specimens are allowed by the local health sanitary code?
I did not asked, nor will i return to find out the reason, but i wonder.
Now, if you still want to read about the food and the place...
Arrived here with a collegue after realizing the restaurant where originally intended to dine was in the opposite direction walked, and by the time we got here we were really hungry, so did a quick look up in yelp, saw the star rating and comments, and decided it was ok to try it.
Dimmed lights place, spanish decor (At first i thought it was inviting, now, well, not sure of the main reason).
It started as a good experience, Elizabeth, our server was attentive, and knowledgeable about the food and favourites. I came here with a colleague that was his first experience with Puertorican cuisine, so he was recommended a typical plate: mofongo with churrasco. Apparently it was ok.
I was recommended a coconut sangria (not to be confused with a piña colada, this one is a blend of rum, tequila and several other spirits). Was good, but strong. For the main course I also asked recommendation among a chillo, dorado and salmon fillets and was advised in favour of the salmon fillet, that came glazed in a pinapple sauce. Was delicious, crusty in the outside, just perfect. Service was on point, good recommendations, food arrived in time, etc. What a great evening was, i even asked for a coffee with milk to lower a little bit the sangria effects (were strong!) And then, ironically, just before asking for the check, i perceive like someone was staring at me, so turned to my right in the precise instant when a scaried look from the woman in the table across mine fixed to my shirt, and then i felt something tickling in my upper arm. Inconciously, i move my arm, and voila! Voló! There it was! The subject of a intriguing question by the restaurant manager, the main reason of this one star review, and the responsible of my total and well earned unsatisfaction with this place: A two inches long cockroach, arguably of the flying kind. Please discuss.
No more comments, except that i think was not Elizabeth's, our server, fault, as she handled the issue the best she could, so well, let's say, if you still plan to come here ( I know, just kidding ) ask for her. read more
