    Lemon drop and margarita

We ordered a margarita and lemon drop: the service was far below standard. Trying to get an order was extremely difficult, we had to come to the bar and continuously ask the bartender for drink menu, drinks, and food menu and then food. The drinks we ordered were absolutely horrible. For the price we were better off buying alcohol and free styling it ourselves. The drinks tasted the same, even though we got different drinks. The views and ambiance of the restaurant were spectacular. The sound of the waves and open floor plan downstairs cannot compare, simply incredible. Overall experience -1/10

Food, service, and ambiance were really good, the server was SO amazing and friendly. Nothing spectacular but good eats.

Mind blowing mofongo with a view !! 100% Marco was friendly and amazing ! Will definitely return so many things on the menu I want to try !!!

There are just five breakfast items on the breakfast menu (last one is just a "crème")

If you read some of the reviews here, you will more or less have read that the service is terrible, the food is average at best but the views are spectacular. Well, forget the views, unless you manage to get one of the two tables outside. Beach erosion has arrived here and all the windows where you may have been able to enjoy the view are covered with plexiglass and you will not be able to see much as they are always wet from the waves splashing on them. I reviewed their Facebook Page and their website to make sure I had the operating times right. On both it said that it opens at 8am. Being from Puerto Rico (yes, I grew up here but live in Virginia now) I know that business hours tend to be "aspirational" at best, so I called the front desk and confirmed that in fact 8am was the opening time. But you already know what is coming... We got here at 8am and the lady at the front desk stated that the restaurant does not open until 9am. I politely commented that their website as well as their Facebook page states Business hours as 8am - 10pm and that I had called the day before and confirmed that tomorrow (today) it would open at 8am. She said "they", and by they I presumed the employees, hadn't arrived yet. We went for a walk and came back at 9am and was surprised when the German family next to us told us it opened at 8:30am... Welcome to paradise! My wife (I brought her here for her birthday) asked the waiter if she could substitute French toast for Pancakes. Our waiter, whom by the look in his eyes had clearly been to the local cannabis dispensary at some point this morning and had enjoyed several pounds of whatever it is they sell there, proceeded to laugh uncontrollably before saying "-No you cannot substitute anything here". (Actually, I made that up just to lighten the mood). Well, not exactly (the laughing was made up) but after several seconds of contemplating what language we were speaking, and whether or not he understood what we said, he stated (for real this time) -"no, no substitutions are allowed" followed by uncomfortable silence. For a fraction of a second my brain wondered if I was at a tourist trap in Paris. My wife, who suffers from "pretty blonde privilege/syndrome" and has no problems getting waiters to customize any order in any way shape or form she wishes (or waitresses that secretly ruin her order on purpose) asked if this being her birthday, could they make an exception and substitute French Toasts with Pancakes. I have witnessed her do this time and again and it annoys the hell out of me because I do not suffer from such "privilege", but here we were and I was about to enjoy watching her disarm this dude/waiter, as she always does. The waiter clearly wondered for a moment whether or not it was Spanish she was speaking or perhaps German or something else. He looked at her beautiful blue eyes for a few seconds, allowing the cannabis to compromise his better judgement and said; -"sorry, no substitutions" while shaking his head with the universal "no". This was followed again by uncomfortable silence... This should have been an easy slam dunk for this place and its service but no, it was not to be. They must go out of their way to make sure all the bad reviews they have had over the years remain accurate and by accurate I mean, terrible service, entirely overpriced, limited menu and now, "underwhelming views". Food was alright but let's just say that we will not be returning to this place any time soon... This may be a good place for Happy Hour but that is it. Positive Note: We met a lovely German family and we exchanged contact information and may see them again while they are here.

My husband took me to this restaurant to celebrate our first wedding anniversary when we were staying in San Juan. This restaurant was suggested by our hotel person. When we got this place, we thought that this place looks like a boat house. But when the waiter took us to the table on the beach, it was so nice and romantic view from the table where we sat. The menu was very decent. It has chicken, beef, pork and Pasta. Everybody can find something to eat from the menu. We went there on Feb.12th. They were doing Valentine's special menu. It was three course menu; Appetizer, Main course and dessert. I had Rib eye steak. I love it. My husband had salmon. It was very nicely baked. The dessert was fantastic. Forgot to mention! I loved the drinks. I had watermelon sangria. It was so fruity. Great service and Great food. Also this place is a little bit from away from the big commercial hotel areas. Therefore, it has nice cozy and at home atmosphere.

So pretty and you should see the view inside! The food was amazing! Had a decent selection of food for myself as I am vegetarian. The Pinot noir is pretty amazing too!

So this place was a dud. The only thing that I can say that was amazing was the view. Our order came out an hour and 20 minutes after we ordered. As it was taking so long we asked to see the rooms and apartment the smelled old and need renovation. I informed the manager that my food was cold to the touch she took it put it in the microwave and brought it back out the middle of my rice was still cold. They ran out of fish bites so they brought us cheese bites. Our checks of 11 people was all put on one bill which was not what we ask for as we sat at 5 different tables and then they couldn't fix it so our total of $480 was split to two bills It took them another 35 minutes to explain that. Long story short we went to the grocery store after spending $100 here. Ooo my strawberry daiquiri came out on the rats instead of frozen.

We just arrived in PR, and discovered this place around the corner, right on the beach. 6 of were seated & taken care of. Great lunch/appetizers menu: not a single bad choice. Decent drinks. The best thing: friendly, take it easy service, put us right in to the island vacation mood. We were back few times & continue to like it. Dinner menu is OK.

From the moment you step through the doors, you are wrapped in a vibrant, welcoming ambiance that perfectly balances lively energy with cozy, authentic charm. But the true star of the show is the food. Every single dish bursts with rich, ancestral flavors, serving up exceptional quality that respects deep-rooted family traditions. The absolute standout is their Bistec Encebollado (beef steak with onions). The steak is perfectly tender, marinated to perfection, and smothered in a mountain of sweet, caramelized onions. Paired with a side of fluffy white rice, savory beans, and perfectly caramelized sweet plantains (maduros), it is pure culinary comfort. You can quite literally taste the love and history in every bite--it doesn't just feel like you're eating at a restaurant; it feels like you've been invited into a family's home kitchen where recipes have been perfected over generations. The Verdict: Incredible food, an unforgettable atmosphere, and a beautiful dedication to heritage. El Jibarito is a masterclass in tradition done right. Don't pass this one up!

Attire was relaxed-- I saw ladies in pants as well as dresses, men in pants and shorts, but the staff was dressed sharply in all black. We waited a bit while two hosts and a manager worked to assemble several tables on the patio for a group of ten which had arrived before us. The patio decor-- murals and greenery, were beautiful. We requested indoor seating near the bar, and were the second of four tables to be filled. The indoor seating was a bit darker, had two bartenders working nonstop, and three televisions were playing inside. The inside seating area was quieter and more intimate (plus cooler in temperature) than the patio option. Our server, Raul, promptly greeted us and asked if we preferred English or Spanish. Promising to give honest recommendations of our selections, he did-- and made great suggestions as well. We started with risotto balls as an appetizer-- the guava dipping sauce was delicious. They were cheesier than my husband could stomach, so several remained on our plate. For our entrees, my husband chose the Ropa Vieja en Canoa (peeled, hollowed out like a canoe). I selected the Fried Red Snapper (served whole) with creole sauce, a house salad (lettuce, tomatoes, red onion, orange slices, mango dressing) and fried sweet plantains. After a bite, I asked for a glass of Blanc de Blancs, which was a wonderful, crisp pairing. We could not finish our meals, much less entertain the offer of dessert. By the time we left, all four tables were being served inside, there were four gyesss eating dinner at the bar, and the patio seating looked maxed out as well. It took longer than it should have to get our food and even simple things like refills were slow. It felt a little disorganized, especially considering it wasn't that busy. This platter comes with everything you could want & maybe something that might be a bit adventurous for you to eat like blood sausage. Despite that, it's a nice platter to share and try a bit of everything. It's really nice that if you order for 4 people, they give you exactly the amount of pieces that are divisible by 4 (so everyone can try 1-2 pieces of each thing evenly). The inside of the restaurant is absolutely adorable, and the servers are dressed in traditional-style Puerto Rican attire, which adds to the atmosphere and charm. Our server was wonderful--very friendly, knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely pleasant throughout the meal. Unfortunately, the food did not live up to the experience. I ordered the red snapper, which was quite dry, and the garlic sauce lacked flavor. I also informed the server that I do not like cilantro, but my beans arrived with cilantro in them. They were graciously replaced with plantains, which I appreciated. While the service and ambiance were excellent, the food simply did not meet my expectations. Because of that, I would not return or recommend this restaurant.
