I honestly like to come here to resell some of my clothes that are usually designer that I no longer wear. They usually do payouts but lately I've been going and they've just been doing in store balances, which kind of sucks! Some of the items that I have sold that are name brands like Lululemon, Zara, and Marc Jacob they do not pay out that's good considering they are somewhat good brands but that's fine. I only recommend bringing your clothes in if they are worth high value and you don't really care about because they will not pay you out a lot! read more

I must say that I tried several times to email and call the store and nobody answered to help me with the question of whether they do drop offs but all ended up working fine. I was only allowed to bring in 2 bags for them to review. I showed up on a Sunday morning and they went through my stuff in an hour and ended up buying a few items so that I got $27. I have a lot of stuff with tags on them and brand new so I'm surprised I didn't make more but they said they're being very picky. It was a great experience just knowing they're more looking to buy Juicy Couture items! read more

Service is not very good here... employees at check out can sometimes have an attitude, and sometimes it is very difficult to find someone to unlock a dressing room for you. I've noticed over the years that they have less and less nice clothing and more "fast fashion" brands. I know they generally only accept newer items... but I think they need to consider the quality of items over the newness and trendiness of things. When you do come across a nice brand here, often the quality is sub par and the price is high! There is also sometimes an unpleasant smell. Some febreeze could definitely be utilized! All in all, I do go here on occasion if I have a few hours to spend. The racks are so tightly packed you are bound to find something! read more

The girls at the counter were very sweet when I walked in they explained the process of selling. I used to sell here years ago before I moved to Las Vegas. I have always had a great experience. I honestly don't understand how this place has four stars. Let me start with the phone number listed on their website they never answer. I called multiple times because I didn't want to waste my time showing up for nothing, especially after reading similar complaints in other reviews. When I finally went in person, I literally stood outside calling the store while watching them ignore the phone. The staff just let it ring. That tells you everything about the level of customer service here unmotivated, unfriendly, and clearly not interested in helping anyone. Let's talk about the buying process: it feels like a complete scam. They're incredibly picky about what they take, yet they have no problem turning around and selling items for way more than they're worth. They'll offer you pennies for good brands, then put them on the rack for 10x more. And the store environment? Unprofessional. The music is loud, inappropriate, and sometimes vulgar even in Spanish. It's not about culture, it's about poor taste and lack of professionalism. In short, this doesn't feel like a store problem it's a management and staff issue. If the people working there don't want to engage with customers or do their job, they shouldn't be in retail. I won't be coming back, and I don't recommend wasting your time here either. read more

second time in two weeks that i come wanting to sell bags of trendy name brand clothes, and they tell me that they are only offering store credit and no cash... its disappointing bc ive wasted my gas twice (i live in another town) and they never pick up the phone to even try to ask if they're giving out cash. not sure how a business is ran without cash. :/ read more

I tried to resell some of my gently used shoes here a couple days ago. I waited two hours for them to look at 5 pairs of shoes. They didn't end up taking my gently used items because they had "too much wear" and told me to look at their shoe items that "don't have any wear." Word of advice don't bother trying to resell items here. Try out Poshmark! I sold the same pair of shoes minutes after for $60 with a profit of $40. I don't think platos would have given me much for the shoes anyways. read more

I visited the store today and I was very disappointed. There were clothes and hangers on the floor and people were walking over them. Empty racks and the quality of clothes was extremely disappointing. This place has really gone down hill. read more

Employees were friendly. But I just read a review where a customer brought in 5 bags, I was told I could only bring in 2. I said I had 3 & she asked if I could condense them in anyway. I went & tried my best & carried in 2 full garbage bags filled with WINTER attire, shoes, bags. Lots of excellent pieces. She told me it was a 2 hour wait & id get a text when it was ready. I come back, they offered me $19 for 6 items! Are you kidding me? Had I known, I would have sold on my own. Don't waste your time. Sell on your own. read more

Place is like a swap meet now, just a hodge podge of items. Went by yesterday for parking lot sale and items were a hot mess. Went inside and found a couple things but gave up after line was 10 people deep and 1 cashier. read more

For clothes, I occasionally find good items. Very rare but their jeans selection is sometimes worth it. They do not price these brands correctly, but this is great because if I can score pants that are $120 and they have it for $14 then I'm going to run with it. As for staff, there's only about two decent employees. The others are rude, rude, rude. Do not take out your anger on customers because you chose to work at this retail store. I have had my fair share of minimum wage jobs so I understand when the rudeness is necessary and isn't. For example, I have sold my clothes here; the employee (she's very short) KICKED my bag of shoes to me as I was gathering the items they didn't want. I'm not even joking. read more

The selling service is a great idea. I go here occasionally when I have a box full of clothes ready to sell. Have your ID ready before going to cashier so they can scan your ID card. Plato's closet will buy your clothes, but for a low price. They should just buy all the remaining clothes for $3-$5 and just put it out for sale, give it their employee, or ask their employees to have a weekly donation and send it to goodwill. Shoppers can buy clothes at the store as well. The clothes are in nice condition and it is for sale all the time. read more

I can tell they only take mainly name brand, lots of alo, white fox, lulu lemon, skims, etc. but racks were very unorganized, looks like they don't fix the floor throughout the day. Racks were either too full & you can't shop or too empty. store overall looked a mess. Loved the selection but only left with 2 things. Some things seemed quite overpriced for a Plato's. Also service wasn't great. There was only 2 girls working. Not very attentive. And didn't seem like they cared very much. Compared to other Plato's, they could do a lot better. read more

if i could leave a higher review i would! 10/10 so i had taken in two baskets of clothes and was told they weren't giving cash only store credit now (im not from monterrey) so i decided since it was getting late to get a motel and she said she could give us cash in the morning. me and my boyfriend shopped around found some clothes we could sleep in for the night. she took 24 items!!! ended up cashing out and because of my total she said she could just give me the cash (my total was a little under the amount they were going to give me for my clothes) ended up grabbing some GREAT pieces of clothing for myself and my boyfriend. and luckily we did not have to spend the night lol. also i did not catch the girls name but she was a SWEET HEART. so freaking nice. she was blonde and had i believe like 3 nose piercings. she was extremely helpful and FULLY explained EVERYTHING to me. i'm so glad i stopped by. read more

This review is for my visit from December 2019. Better late than never. I had a great experience buying and selling at this particular Plato's. I was driving to Monterey for a conference and called for an appointment to sell a week before my arrival. Checking into my appointment was a breeze by filling out a quick form and showing my ID. I brought in 3 medium sized bags and while they sorted through my things, I browsed the store and found a couple of items. I acknowledge that I'm probably not their target audience in terms of age, but I did find a few pieces. Store is neatly organized by type of clothing and size. Fitting rooms were clean. Popular items based on brand were grouped together. My buy was completed in a timely manner and they offered me $60+ and I used that amount towards my purchases. The cashier wrote me a check for my remaining balance and I was on my merry way. All the staff I encountered were friendly. Parking lot is small, but plenty of street parking. We were greeted when we walked in. There was different selection of clothes. Value was great for items purchased. There are dressing rooms where you can try on the clothes. Parking is a little rough. There needs to be more selection for the plus size section. read more

Very lackluster. If you have quality stuff to unload then I think it's worth the stop. Otherwise I'd bypass this place as items really look like the stuff you already have that you'd probably wear to do yard work as it's giving out that vibe. They did have a decent assortment of beanies other than that I'd suggest going to other other thrift site across the way. read more

Great selection to shop but not to sell your clothes. I've took 5 bags & they only bought 3 things under $15 ?? Mind you most of my clothes were BRAND NEW OR WORN ONCE & TRENDY! Bc that's one that they look for. These girls are just picky/lazy better off selling it yourself. I understand they get busy but that becomes a management issue with scheduling employees. If I could give this place zero stars I would. Every time I've walked in to sell my clothes, all the girls behind the register talk amongst themselves and never pay attention. They don't greet and make you feel welcome. They told me one time that my clothes were "too sophisticated" and tried to give me a $2 coupon that I could use anytime. Visited Plato's Closet yesterday to see about selling a few items of clothing. The first impression was that they are dealing with a vast amount of clothing to review for possible purchase. Bags and bins of clothing.....Nonetheless, the young person behind the counter was very kind and helpful in assisting me through the sign in process - the system itself is very efficient, whereby a text is sent when processing is complete. In less than an hour I was messaged to return. The staff took the time to explain why the items were not accepted -- something she was kind enough to do, given how busy she is with other tasks. Thank you for this, it helps for understanding who their market is, and what is selling -- after all, it is a business! Also I would like to add: There are negative reviews for this business on Yelp that are possibly more of a a reflection of people taking the rejection of their items personally. Again, this is a business that is clear on its customer base and their likes/dislikes. They have always been really good with their customer service. Ive been going there for at least 5 years and every other month or so i spend alot of money for great clothes. Unfortunately, i willi will no longer shop there. The girl who rang me up was so rude. She actually talked over me when i asked a question on their point system. I was lacking understanding and she actually scoffed loudly and said i seemed upset. I said no im just not comprehending her short explanation i ai asked her to elaborate. Long story short she started yelling at me. Not hard of hearing just not understanding. She was completely out of line rude and will never do well in business or in life if she continues to treat people that way. Ill miss you playto but its not worth the stress. read more

terrible customer service. my fiancé told me to move out of the way for a younger worker who was trying to pass.. I would've known she was behind me if she had said "excuse me" or if she would have simply pardoned herself because, after all.. my back was turned to her. I let her pass, and just as I've explained here.. I explained to my fiance. suddenly the young girl who MUST'VE BEEN LISTENING TO OUR CONVERSATION.. threatingly asked me to repeat myself, which I did because I had no shame in what I said; this resulted in her raising her voice to the point of me seeing red. I simply had to excuse myself away from the section and all the items I was considering purchasing..and the store. I asked another associate for the management's information and greatly appreciate their professionalism, but I will never be returning to the establishment. read more
