I have sold here a few times. Each time is worse then before. I seriously do not know what the workers are looking for when they are pricing or taking in items. I brought in a bag of all new items with tags on still from H&M, forever 21 etc. and they did not take one item. The reason was weak at best. If you actually look at the clothing on the racks that they accepted, it makes not sense. Clothes are stained, worn out, faded, unwashed clothing items, purses with stains; the only explanation I can come up with is they are selling their own stuff or for their friends. No one with any sense would take these items, they are not 'gently used'. I will not be back, I would rather donate to good will or any charity. read more

went and dropped off a bunch of clothes yesterday and they said it would be a 40 minutes wait, so they said I can pick them up today right when they open at 11. I'm back today at 11:30, in a hurry, drove 30 minutes to get to platos... the door is locked and it is not opened, although the door says they are opened 11am-6pm. no signs on the door saying they will be closed today or anything. read more

I brought in like 30 items of women's clothing, all good brands such as Nike and some other clothes. It took an hour for them to go through them and give me a price. They would only take 1 pair of Nike capris and give me $5. They said they only take juniors clothing, skinny jeans and crop tops. What a waste of time and I was so angry. So they judge and don't take women's or men's clothes, just juniors sizes. I am never going back there again and do not recommend it! read more

Terrible store! I brought in three large garbage bags of items and was told it would be better for me to come back as there was a long wait. I filled out their form and when I returned they said they had no record of my items. How a store loses 3 full size garbage bags is beyond me. What a dump. Watch out if you are selling! read more

The key holder was so rude while I was checking out. She gave me and my friends attitude, very unprofessional. Should not be in customer service if she does not like being around people. Clothes were very messy, in the wrong place, and totally hard to walk through the aisles. Definitely not coming back. read more

I've been shopping here for years but my experience today makes me want to never come back. I came in with three bags of clothes and there were 3 girls working behind the counter. All of them made eye contact with me and not a single one greeted me so after I said hello to them, one girl just shouted to me "fill out that slip." Since I've sold clothes here before, I knew which slip she was talking about, but not everyone would have known. Also, her rude and arrogant demeanor wasn't really necessary. After I took the time to fill out the slip about my items I was selling, the same rude girl came up to me across the counter and said "we close in an hour and have 9 bags ahead of you so you can leave your stuff or come back later with it." Since I've heard soooo many horror stories of the nasty employees here stealing your stuff and not paying you for it, I wasn't about to leave my bags. But at this point, due to her rudeness, I'll probably just drop them all at Goodwill. Also, I read below that some people had experiences where Plato's employees didn't even look through their stuff, but then a manager actually took the time to look through and buy stuff. Same thing happened to me!! And the employee was just as condescending as other Yelpers have mentioned. This place is a joke because it's run by immature, snobby girls. read more

This Platos has rude staff, and the store itself was incredibly dirty and over packed with items. It was completely unorganized to the point where it was totally overwhelming to shop. They were also selling half used perfume and lotions, and so much stained clothing. I do not recommend this location. read more

I just returned from Plato's closet feeling very frustrated. Every time I take something in there, they tell me, that for various reasons, they do not need any of it at that time. For the first time in my life, I am going to scream "age discrimination". My daughter is 21. She and I wear the same size and often her things end up in my closet or vice versa. Needless to say, my clothes are not "old lady clothes". Every time she goes in to Plato's they buy EVERYTHING of hers. Today I was cleaning out my closet and getting ready to give things away. I kept a small pile of designer clothes that I thought I would take to Plato's to sell. They included Inc, Ralph Lauren and Free People. I waited for about 20 minutes and went back up to the register. They told me they needed none of my clothes because they were not what they were looking for or they were worn. I guarantee you they were not worn, some, not even once! I guess when they mean, it was not what they were looking for, is that they do not want anything of quality. As a test, I am going to send my daughter back in with the same clothes and see what happens. Something tells me they will want what she brings in! My only hesitation at this point is that I really do not want my good clothes hanging amongst the poor quality clothes on their racks. I am happier knowing someone who needs them, might wander into St. Vincent DePaul and get a good deal! read more

Went in with brand new items that could be worn by older teens and twenty somethings and was told to go to another store because they don't take "women's" clothing, but teen wear. The girl didn't even look at what I had and just prejudged me and said I would get more $ at the other store. How would she know what kind of $ they'd give me when she didn't even see what I had? That was total age discrimination and just humiliating! Worst place ever and a total waste of time. Would give a big fat zero for a review if I could.... read more

Every time I enter this store, I have THE WORST customer service, and this is coming from someone who currently works in retail. There is absolutely no greeting when you enter the store, nobody seems to care that it's an actual business. I also understand that it's a store directed toward teens (myself included) and thus, the staff will be primarily teens or young adults. That being said, having a job is considered a responsibility for a reason. All I hear every time, is gossip about "what her boyfriend did with her best friend", and as a customer I COULDN'T CARE LESS. I would love to be rung up within an efficient period of time as well, but that might just be tooooo much to ask for. I stood in front of 3 girls behind the counter, for 5 minutes waiting. I was the ONLY person in line, and I waited 5 minutes until finally one of the girls suggested her "friend" do my transaction for a single item. She barely spoke to me and was quite rude. When I have previously brought my clothes in to be looked at, I had the same thing happen where the top 10 items were touched but not any of the bottom items. Their reason for returning was "wear and tear" but they never even looked at half the items, they remained folded and layered as I had them. Terrible. The girls that worked there were rude and it was clear that they couldn't care less about what they were doing. Upon me bringing my bag and shoe box in, they told me to put my phone number on each so they could call me when they were done going through it. I waited 3 hours and did not get a call so I decided to go in and see if it was ready. Turns out it had been ready for a long time and no one decided to call me. They expected me to somehow just know when it was going to be ready but they told me they would call. Also, I brought a brand new pair of sperry's and a brand new pair of boots that they took and they took a few shirts as well. They only gave me $28. I could have sold each pair online and gotten at least 40 for each. Completely incompetent girls. Sad because I think if this place actually gave people the money they should get for the clothes and the workers did not make the customers feel stupid it could be a thriving business. read more

worst store ever! worked there as assistant manager they cant even afford to pay you. one day they text you that you arent allow to call because they need you there! even though you are super sick! i still went the following night they text me saying they have to cut my shift because they cant pay me theyre over labor. yet they have no employees! all the employees there are the worst! all drama! all they do is gossip and dont listen! they should honestly close this place down! its disgusting! there is so many spiders, clothes with poop and dirty pads. there is mole in the back room. i cant believe i actually worked in such a horrible place. employees come in high and hair all messed up they look like bums. they laugh and giggle because they just cane back from having sex. this platos closet is the worst. super dirty dont waste your time here. the manager nicole is the worst! she is lazy and doesnt do anything or care about anything.. read more
