I placed an online order and received a notification that it was ready for pickup. When I arrived, no one greeted me, so I made my way to the pickup area and waited. I asked an employee if an order she was handing out was mine. She asked if it was a half Acai order, I said no and gave my name, and she moved on. I continued waiting while other orders were prepared and handed out, including some that appeared to have been placed after I arrived. After about 12 minutes, I approached the cashier and mentioned that I had received a text saying my order was ready. Someone checked, and it was found already sitting in a cooler. What stood out was not the wait itself but the absence of basic customer service throughout. No greeting when I walked in, no one checking on me while I waited, no apology once the situation was sorted, and no thank you when I received my order. I reached out about this experience on June 8th and have yet to hear anything back, not even a simple apology. That silence is just as disappointing as the visit itself. I share this hoping it can serve as a coaching opportunity. Greetings, attentiveness, and simple acknowledgments go a long way, and small interactions can make a significant difference in how a guest feels walking out the door. read more

My only recommendation is that when people order a smoothie with added protein, you not make so much that the extra is put into a cup that is not given to the customer. Love the variety here! You can choose your base and even mix bases of the bowls! We found their bowls to be large compared to other places and the fruit was fresh and delicious! Loved the decor and vibe! For sure felt like you were walking into a surf shop or somewhere off of the beach. Service was great and inviting! One knock was that their spoons seemed to be rigid on the edges and cut the inside of my lip a bit and my husband was the same. Very inconsistent with orders. Often the power bowl doesn't have protein mixed into the base. The coffee is a guessing game if it will be bitter or not and if they will actually put in what you ordered, it is completely different colors when ordering because it's always made with varying amounts of milk and ice. The food and coffee can be great when prepared the right way, however, there seems to be a very inconsistent quality when purchasing here. Playa Bowls offer multiple bases such as açaí, coconut, banana, kale, pitaya, chia seeds, and oatmeal. Can't decide on your base? You can get two, which I did - coconut and pitaya. There are sooo many choices! Love all the super food options to add on such as spirulina and bee pollen just to make a few. Playa Bowl has been open for almost 1 year. Can't believe this has been here that long! Not only does the food remind me of Hawaii, the interior is super cute. Love the coastal vibes! Service was great too! My husband and I have been back a few times. I tried the sweet cream cold brew coffee too. The coffee is from New Orleans (chicory coffee). The best of both worlds (Hawaii and NOLA) come together. I really love Acai bowls and although the ones I make at home may not be as healthy as I'd like them to be, it's great being able to pick up one while on the go. I usually go to the location in Bloomfield, but I was in the area and stopped in. This location was very clean, and the staff was able to take my order and have it out for me very quickly. I seem to always mix it up with a new smoothie and this time I tried the Kowabunga smoothie and overall I'd give it a 7/10. It was good but I didn't love it. I will try something else next time. Now my acai bowl was AMAZING. I ordered the tropical acai bowl which comes with granola, banana, pineapple, honey and coconut flakes. It was delicious and perhaps my favorite item on the menu. There's still tons of smoothies and bowls I want to try so I will definitely be back. read more

I like this place! Everything is fresh, the staff are all friendly. But two things would make it even better...1. They need to recycle all the plastic bowls they use. There's no recycling but everything is single use plastic. 2. Some sugar free, no added sugar bases would be great. I picked up my playa bowl order Friday night just as they were closing. My order was made wrong I didn't eat it bc I had planned to take it back on Saturday. Life happened & I forgot to call Saturday. I called first thing Sunday when I had a free moment. The General manager said he wouldn't remake the order. He was able to look at my order, I had the playa bowl, so they could see that it was made wrong. I understand if I didn't have the Bowl or receipt but that wasn't the case. I was fully prepared to show him that I didn't eat it and it was in my playa account. It was a huge disappointment that Playa made a huge mistake with my order and wouldn't remake it. $15 down the wasted, extremely frustrated since I drive wasted gas & my money. read more

First time ever at a Playa Bowl. I was greeted with a smile and instructions on how to select the bowl of my choice. I did a half and half base of dragon fruit and coconut along with bananas strawberries granola Nutella cocoa nibs and coconut. The bowl looked perfect and it was delicious. The bowl itself was a nice size, I thought how can I eat all of this?? Well as I scraped the bottom of the bowl many minutes later, I thought, well that was pretty darn good. The açaí bowls are too sweet compared to bowls at Beyond Juice. For example they use sweetened coconut and peanut butter does not seem organic. The bowls were freshly made but I wish the sugar content was lower. read more

This place is a clown show of very slow processing teen workers who clearly need some eye of the tiger training. Took 15 mins to get 1 smoothie with four people working and no one ahead of me in the store. They made the smoothie for the gentleman behind me before making mine and didn't apologize for skipping me. They had three people working like snails on door dash orders and the lack of hustle was astonishing. They chatted casually about their personal lives and made no attempt at congenial customer service. $9 for a three ingredient 12 oz smoothie is insane. Knocking one star off only because acai has added sugar and gums which I don't appreciate at all, kinda defeats the purpose of an acai bowl being named "healthy" when u add those fillers in it. Also staff often times is skimpy on extra toppings that u pay extra for which is a bummer. They recently opened so I'm taking that into consideration. You may want to give them a chance to work out the kinks before going. My first visit, my açaí bowl was made to perfection. I really wanted to like it because the macros on their nutrition menu are top notch. I got the Power Bowl and it was, unfortunately, awful. The oatmeal was flavorless and overly thick, it was like dry paste. There was no chocolate flavor so I went up to the counter to make sure it was in there. Shw assured me it was and she was correct. Unfortunately, there were gobs of powder on the side of the bottom. It was not mixed in at all, which just made the already dry oatmeal taste like the Gobi Desert.
