First of all, this place is GORGEOUS! Tropical artwork and murals on every wall. I didn't go in to the restroom, but my teenager said it was beautiful and a 10/10 bathroom she would definitely visit again. Second- the kids on staff were extra sweet. I came in with three kids, the youngest of which was a sleeping infant. They were polite and even brought my drink to the table for me while I was rocking the baby to sleep. Absolutely service! Finally, everything was fresh, healthy, and delicious! This was the absolute perfect treat for the summer, and far better than grabbing ice cream. The kids loves being able to pick their favorite fruits and toppings. We all took turns trying each other's bowls, which will only make it easier for each of us to order something different next time! Not pictured, but I also got the summer special mango pina colada smoothie and it was so balanced and fruity Oh yeah, this is a new family favorite. We will definitely be back!

No real welcome or conversation at check out. But they did say "have a good one" as we left. The inside had a fun beachy type vibe and our table looked like a surfboard (cute idea). Overall, I would come check out another drink if in the area.

Wow!! All the heart eyes for this place!! You walk in and it's like you've taken a plane to a tropical island - it smells so great, and the atmosphere cannot be beat. Plenty of options between juices, smoothies, bowls, etc - I have to come back to try a bowl! I got a protein smoothie and it was so so good - a bit in the expensive side at about eight bucks, but wow was it worth it. Definitely worth a stop in!

We ended up choosing the Pura Vida bowl and it did not disappoint! The refreshing flavors were perfect for this hot SA summer.

We ordered the Nutaya-Pitaya bowl, and it blew our minds! So fresh, so much flavor, so many layers of different colors and textures! This wasn't just fabulous on your taste buds, it was fun to look at too with so many bright and vivid colors. The menu has options for everything you could want. Very clean inside, great and friendly staff. Even if it's cold outside, I'll still make a trip here to get a big dose of fresh fruit and yumminess! Definitely a place to try. The bowls are a bit large, my daughter and I shared one, I don't think I could finish one by myself unless I was going to eat it as a meal replacement. But that's just me. They are tucked away in the Villages at Stone Oak, enjoy your Playa Bowl sitting outside or walking around, it's very nice and peaceful.

I had been searching for a good place to get acai and pitaya bowls and I had seen and heard of this place. My sis met me to get my daughter's haircut in the same shopping area so we stopped in for some bowls here, after. I ordered the 8th Ave. Bowl which is acai based, very traditional. However, they have a ton of other options like pitaya based bowls, green based bowls, smoothies and so much more! The menu can be overwhelming but it's a good reason to keep coming back to try new items on menu :) The actual place is so beautifully designed. It's vibrant, island vibes with a hint of TX details! Not to mention such amazing presentation of bowls with perfect and fresh ingredients/fruit. Service was wonderful as well. Very very happy with my experience and I can't wait to come back! read more

Well if this place isn't chill and cool I don't know what is. I love the beach/surfer theme for the decor. Well if you need a sweet fix but don't want to feel awful afterwards this is your place. Everything is fresh, light and delicious and served by a prompt and polite staff. Don't let the pictures fool you, these are no small bowls. I think everything on the menu is delicious, from bowls to smoothies or juices in the fridge case. The costa bowl, the Nutella bowls (both with banana bases (base is the flavor of fruit sorbet on the bottom)) and the strawberry banana coconut smoothie were downed by our family. I am not a sweets person and this just hits all the right spots. A great spot for the family or a date. I get why my friends have been raving about this place now lol. read more

Been craving an acai bowl since I had one in San Diego. Playa Bowls offer Acai bowls, mango bowls, pitaya bowls (dragon fruit), coconut bowls, banana bowls, smoothies, pressed juices, and coffee. You can also customize your own bowls. The menu can be overwhelming, but what distinguishes one bowl from another is their base (ex: bowl type) and 1-2 ingredients (like a fruit, hone or no honey, granola, or no granola, etc.). You just need to determine what you like. I got an acai tropical bowl (granola, pineapple, banana, honey & coconut flakes). They weren't stingy on the ingredients, and they were fresh, but then again you're paying ~$13 for a bowl. Presentation was superb! What disappointed me most was that acai melted before I could even find a place to sit outside to enjoy my bowl--which was only a few steps away. I pretty much had to "drink" the acai. I would like to try their other bowls, but for now, I'm going to have to check out other places in town that offer acai bowls. Cashier was zombie-like (emotionless) so I can't comment much on service. read more

The shop has a very tropical feeling, the beach is around the corner, perfect for spring and summer; I love it. A healthy evening dessert or even a better choice for a healthy lunch! You order at the register, pretty fast service, they'll call your name when your order is ready. They have a rewards program...Woo-hoo. Deeeeeelicious, puree fruit! These are not your typical açaí bowls! New location in the Village of Stone Oak Area severing a variety of açaí bowls, pitaya bowls, coconut bowls, banana bowls ++ more! Prices range from $9 - $12. It's a good size serving and comes with plenty of toppings. They also offer fresh juices and smoothies. I tried the Pink Flamingo (Pitaya Bowl). It was very fresh tasting topped with granola, bananas and honey. I will be back to try the Nutella Bowl. Loved the atmosphere. Very inviting, bright colors. Staff members went above and beyond. It's a smaller location but there are a few areas to sit. I did notice the outlets as well by the bar tops. Definitely give them a try. read more

Absolutely the best bowl I have tasted compared to other Açaí bowls. You can customize your bowls too. .Holland, Joy,Daniela, Mary were so nice and seemed to enjoy their jobs here!! If you like açaí I cannot imagine you not giving this place a 5 review! The place is very cool and very well decorated. Even the bathroom is painted up nicely! The staff is very friendly and the owner was working the register when we got there. He was extremely nice and a guy you'd want to do business with. The açaí is about the best in town. I loved how every bite had fresh fruit, granola, or some topping in it. They offer one size on the açaí bowls and it's just right! They have several other options if açaí isn't your thing, but the açaí is so good I can't imagine not getting it. Get by there and get something that'll put a smile on your face! So happy to have an Açaí bowl place nearby - plus any new store at the Village of Stone Ola is a definite plus . Very clean, bright airy space . Loved the menu! Unlike a lot of these places the bowl offering go way beyond the standard Açaí and Pitaya bowls include chia and oatmeal. They also have a great selection of fresh pressed juices , smoothies and on the go snacks including wellness shots which I love and protein balls. And to make life easier you can order ahead and pick up. The Açaí bowl I tried was delicious, full of fresh ingredients and was enough for me to call lunch ! Lots of different toppings to chose from too! Will be back often as it's so close and so good read more

When I first heard of this place on Good Eats SA, i was so excited. The staff member who helped me wasn't too service friendly when I asked about what was good here. I told her I was between the Electric Mermaid and the Nutella. She said the Nutella is better with açaí and asked if that is what I wanted. I tried her recommendation and wasn't too impressed. The Nutella was put directly on top of the cold açaí and it formed a hard shell that wasn't too pleasant to eat. It threw off the composition of the bowl in my opinion, but I guess I'm used to Rise Up açaí bowls and presentation. read more

Look at the size of these amazing açaí and pitaya bowls! They are generous with portions of fresh fruits. Delicious, refreshing, and so far the best I've had in San Antonio and surrounding areas. It is as good as my favorite Açaí bowl Brazilian food truck in Hawaii! I love the fact that both owners at Playa Bowls San Antonio are Air Force veterans and registered nurses, and offer a discount to all healthcare workers, veteran/active/retired/guard/and reserve members. Thank you for your service and for supporting those who serve. According to the owner, they're acai is blended in Brazil in a proprietary Playa Bowls factory, using only the berry pulp, and then it's shipped to each store. I thought it was beautiful to see his son im the store helping him out. Excellent all around. Fast service. Highly recommend and will definitely be back. One recommendation: outdoor seating. Looks like there is a space for it outside so perhaps there was outdoor seating at some point, either way it'd be great to enjoy outdoors in this nice 80 degree weather. read more
