    Big G Bicycle Repair Service.

Repair shop is on the left corner of the laundry firm. Kind sir who imparted onto me with some useful resources and knowledge of the newly refurbished secondhand kid bicycles during this Black Friday shopping. My gratitude to be served by a professional and kind man. May peace be upon him.

Rates for Tune Ups, but he does about anything

Big G is no joke. With all this need to take entertainment outdoors I picked up a vintage bike on LetGo! I absolutely love vintage bikes, but they tend to need some work. I took about 2 rides on it, and pretty quickly knew that it needed a good tune up. Within days it had a flat. I found this place on my trusty Yelp app and shot him a text. He responded promptly and explained that the hours were amended due to COVID. I took it in on a Wednesday and the place was POPPIN. ITt is certainly inside of a Lavanderia but don't let that scare you off. Just jump on in the the bike. When you walk in it is immediately to the right. The prices are great and he shoots straight. Being cautious I requested a top service and he informed me that tackling the issues individually would be a better deal for me, and it was - saved me a ton. When I got it back it was perfect! It was done 2 days early, too! I tried to tip him, but he wouldn't accept. It was apparent that he loves his job. If your bike needs repair, please go see Big G. He will appreciate the business and he will treat you right

Big G, located inside the laundromat on the right.

Wifey had this bike in the garage for a couple of years and it needed a tune up. Checked Yelp but nothing nearby came up so I went to step number two....Google. This place came up on Google with not many reviews, but the ones it did have were good. I figure what the heck, why not give this place a try. I called the business but no one picked up...o.k. Guess the place is closed. The owner called me back stating he saw a missed call. I asked him if he was available to tune up a bike and he said sure. When I arrived at the building I was like WTF? It's a laundromat. While I saw posters of bikes on the glass, there was no further evidence that a bike shop resided on these premises. I walked in and sure enough the bike shop is on the right, along the wall. It's small, but the owner has everything he needs to repair the bikes that are brought in. After the introductions, he set my bike up on the stand and gave it a look over and told me what I needed and what it would cost. I was like cool. Let's do this. I left my name and number and he said he would call me when complete. I went home, had breakfast and got a call about 45 minutes to an hour later. Swung by picked up the bike and everything was good to go. If you are looking for a place to get your bike repaired or tuned up, look no more. Gerardo is there to service all of your bikes needs. Great customer service, knowledgeable and provides service at an affordable rate. Give Big G a try. *1st Saturday of the month is free laundry for customers - The local church and laundromat owner pay for it so the place is crowded with people doing laundry. Don't let that deter you from walking in to get your bike serviced.

    Bike nicely protected.

So 1 bike out. The issue is with the other bike. He got it up into what seemed like a prime condition, I rode it once when he fixed it, it looked good. So I hung it up at the garage and didn't ride it for a couple of weeks. Then I noticed that the front tire was flat again. I tried to put air in the tire on my own, tried 2 different pumps but it seems the valve was losing air while the pump was pumping. He said it seems my pump is messing up the valve. I should get a new pump and then replace the tube. I mentioned I never rode the bike after the tuneup and this is the first time I tried to put air in the new tires. How can it be that I need to replace the tube that he had just replaced during the tune up. I even asked for a quote, he simply ignored me. It's definitely good value for money but either there's a character issue or he's terribly busy. Either case, my bike issues re-emerged 2-3 weeks after the tuneup with literally 0 rides, hence the score.

Beyond being a genuinely great guy, he is insanely knowledgeable about bikes. He shared that it's been his passion since he was a young kid, and it absolutely shows in his work. He serviced two of our bikes (an ElliptiGO 8c and a Schwinn Sivica comfort cruiser) in less than an hour. Working right out of his BikeMedics van, he swapped out the brakes, lubricated the gears, and even washed them both down so they looked as good as new! He got everything done perfectly on the spot. But the absolute best part was that he actually took the time to show us how to properly operate the bikes. He shared some great tips and tricks, and even taught us how to fix small things ourselves in case they ever break. Nate is officially our forever bike guy. Do yourself a favor and skip the big box stores: you'll get way better service, learn a lot, and possibly even save some money by going with BikeMedics. I really appreciated the convenience of his mobile setup and his top-tier service. If you need bike repairs in Dallas, look no further. Highly recommend!

I felt that this was expensive for a 10 to 15 minute task on my old Giant mountain bike. What a rip off! I got no receipt for the work! The tech said that I would eventually need to replace the shifter set on the bike. I asked if it was okay for a couple weeks or if it needed immediate attention. He said it should be okay without test riding my bike for road worthiness. I started to ride the bike to the grocery store 3 miles away. On tbe way, my 2 shifters completely failed on me. It was over 100° outside and I suffered heatstroke and had to call several friends before I could find a ride home. Why would this idiot technician send me out of his shop without testing my bike's road worthiness? I think that the customer service here was terrible and that they let me leave their shop on an unsafe bike. I do NOT recommend this shop to work on any bike. They have a large sign outside of their shop adververtising that they were a Giant certified dealer and demonstrated to me that they did not know crap about my Giant police mountain bike! I ended up having a bad case of heat stroke thanks to this bike technician's lousy customer service and techical competance. I am going to take my bike back when I can get assistance. With heat stroke I am in no condition to ride it there or walk it there!
