Food and atmosphere are good, but the service is terrible! The servers are anything BUT friendly. There are like only 2 friendly servers there, and I think 1 of them quit, cause I've not seen her for a while. So now they're down to only 1 friendly server. All the rest are unfriendly or apathetic. I suspect it's due to upper management and/or the owners. I can't believe they are still in business with how disorganized they are. One time we came in, waited like 1/2 an hour before someone even came to take our order. Then, when someone finally did, I thought it was a customer taking our order, because she came in with her kids, who where running all over the place, then she randomly came to our table, with no company uniform indicating she was an employee, to take our order. Another time, we waited like 45 minutes for our food, and we came in AFTER another couple at a nearby table who had been there 30 minutes longer than us. And we got our food before them! They were mad. I understand why! They'd been waiting an hour and 15 minutes for their food and we came later, but got our food first. Just disorganized and NOT friendly! read more

Very unassuming place! Don't be fooled. Jennifer was fantastic and covered all our needs. Service was excellent and atmosphere reminded me of a hang out night at my friend's abuela's house, eating real food from her kitchen. Tao Tao playing while eating delish chicken enchiladas with the perfect tomatillo sauce was my highlight! I went to this place once, we walked it and it was very stinky. Tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but even the cheese dip and salsa wasn't that good. The service was okay. I have been going here through all iteriations of this restaurant for many years. I always get shrimp chimachangas. They used to be $11.99 and were huge sauteed shrimp, really yummy. Now $14.99 baby shrimp not sauteed, barely warm, no flavor. Service is slow, so slow for an almost empty restaurant. I do not mind paying for good food prepared well. I will not be back. read more

Feel like I need to update my review. Something has changed a bit. Prices for one, and they do now charge for use of credit card (but don't advertise this...At least not that I've seen). The last couple times we've been, the food has not been as good...undercooked rice, steak overdone/just not good, etc. I'm not sure if they have changed cooks/managers or are just trying to make ends meet. I do know most of the old servers have quit. But with overall inflation, I have to be cautious of where I spend my money as well and choose where I know we will enjoy. read more

My husband and I went here for lunch. My husband asked for a veggie taco a waiter looked at him like he was insane had no idea what he was talking about. Food was good, A lot of things have changed ever since the last time I been here. Only reason I'm rating 2 stars because there was this couple right beside me that ordered a pico de gallo, and a house special drink. He has said once okay a little mistake... no he said it more than FIVE times and no one brings it to him?!! I honestly feel bad for this couple he had to repeat himself so many times each couple of minutes and nobody responded. ESPECIALLY he hasn't gotten his chips and salsa AT ALL but after his food comes... really? Great place but please hire staff that actually will remember a simple small meal order. read more

Food is GREAT, kudos to the chef! Our waiter Chris on the other hand.......... HORRIBLE. Took 45min to get our margaritas. Had to ask 3X for my daughter's drink that was never brought to the table. My only issue with the restaurant itself is they were out of a lot of things ie Hennessy, mango mix for the margaritas, a number of desserts......... all in all, the food was good. SLOWWW. But good. Ew. Just ew. The food is just not good. We have tried 2 times now. The service is ok. They try. The food is what brings them down. Chips and salsa is ok. So is the guacamole. The rice is not good. It's like it's commercially bought and prepped. Like they order it pre cooked. Is that possible? They were totally out of tea at 6pm on a Friday. The chicken had a flavor that is just off somewhere. Got a shrimp meal and they covered the shrimp in lemon juice. It was weird. The biggest issue is this of the kids meal. It was chicken they said. First time visit on a Fri night. The Mariachis showed up right as we arrived. Nice atmosphere especially with the lively and festive music. Fresh condiments and home made corn tortillas that melt in the mouth. The salsa was flavorful and tasty and hot if preferred. We ordered the Choriqueso and were given a generous portion. We thought it was very good also. We were attended to by Archie our waitress who was dressed in colorful Mexican clothing. She kept a close eye on us and attended to our needs nicely and with just the right amount of personality that was fun and engaging. read more

Tonight I ordered two to go orders. I eat at the restaurant at least twice a week. Picked up my order and asked for another salsa as I ordered two plates. They said it would be an extra charge. I have never been charged extra before. The staff member called her manager and she said yes it's an extra charge. Keep in mind if you eat in you get as much salsa as you would like and I explained that to the manage. They do not value their loyal customers. I could careless about the cost of the second salsa it's the principal of the matter. They would choose to lose a loyal customer over $1.25. read more

Our server was very nice but we were both really disappointed with the food. I had beef tacos, which I love but the meat had no seasoning. The server said they always make them plain with no seasoning on the meat. No other explanation, so I asked for some chili seasoning so I could add some flavor myself and she said they don't have any. This is the best Mexican I have found.i came in with my family years ago to try. We were unhappy with this other Mexican place which we are at for five years straight! one taste I'd alkyl it took! I am visiting family in Raleigh and we journeyed out to Zebulon to dine out with extended family. There was no menu for me to preview online, so I didn't go with high hopes of being able to eat more than chips & salsa. After driving 45 min to what seemed like the middle of nowhere to this out-of-towner, we arrived at this vibrant and packed Mexican restaurant in a strip mall. The mariachi music was festive and enjoyable, but also very loud, making conversation difficult. On the plus side, it drowned out the screaming toddler at our table. The chips and salsa were fresh, plentiful, and tasty. I was disappointed though that the guacamole contained milk. I ended up ordering vegetable fajitas (not on the menu), which came with rice and beans, which I was promised were vegetarian. I ordered everything without cheese or sour cream. The fresh homemade corn tortillas were amazing. My vegetable fajitas were some of the best I've had. They never did bring me the side of sliced avocado I ordered, but we had a party of about 12-15 people, and the restaurant was super busy so that is a forgivable oversight. Everybody that ordered it raved about their horchata. I really enjoyed my food and would go back again if family wanted to go. After seeing them on Food Network we decided to detour way off our path to try them. BEST DETOUR EVER! The seafood cocktail prepared tableside with fresh octopus, squid, oysters, shrimp and crab claw meat was to die for! Seafood was diced and tossed with the desired amount of fresh diced chilies, then shaken with chilled tomato sauce with a hint of fennel, diced tomatoes, onions, and cilantro. OMG! My shrimp cancun was awesome, and everyone at our table loved their entrees as well. We tried several Mexican cocktails and the fresh squeezed juices made these among the best we've ever had anywhere.This is like high end Mexican resort food in the small town of Zebulon. While we were there it seemed pretty casual, I can see weekend nights being dressy. This is like where you'd go after bullfights in Mexico City for a celebration. read more

This was my second time at this restaurant. The first time service was bad but it was TERRIBLE this time. We were a party of six and our orders were not complicated. We had to ask for everything, drinks chips, even though we ordered 3 orders of queso. Two of us asked for no beans and we both got beans, one asked for two beef tacos without lettuce and there was lettuce, and my friend ordered steak fajitas and got fajitas with steak, chicken, and shrimp - she can't eat seafood! So we were almost done before she got her order back correctly, when they brought back the beef tacos without lettuce they were chicken tacos. When we said we didn't want the beans it seemed that the waiter told the cook but he didn't care. It was just unpleasant. For what it's worth the food was good. If you want good food and you have a couple of hours to get it and you want to constantly ask for things you will be ok...but we won't go back! read more
