We were feeling like having some Mexican food and Plaza Garcia came up in the searches so we decided to check it out. The ambiance was pretty chill. There are the usual Margarita and Corona signs on the walls and windows of the restaurant. After we got seated, we were right away served with home made chips and salsa. They even brought their super spicy homemade salsa. The chips were warm and the salsa was delicious...something that I judge a lot of Mexican restaurants on. We tried the veggie fajitas and chimichanga. Both were served in generous portions and were delicious. I just wish that the pricing was a little bit more favorable as each item was around $23 when it could have probably been around $15. For dessert, we got the churros which were filled with sweet cream and drizzled with whipped cream and chocolate. They were delicious but, again, instead of $10 I think this should have been more like $7. I recommend Plaza Garcia for some good authentic Mexican food but come prepared to spend some higher than average cash. read more

This place is a neighborhood gem. Casual relaxing Mexican food Portions here are humongous. We had the Mar Y Tierra (asada and shrimp). The carne asada was really good and well seasoned. The shrimp had a deep and savory tomato base. Perfect with the rice and tortilla. I had the appetizer combo which was also good - the nachos and surprisingly the chicken wings and tenders were great. Quesadilla too. They give us chips and salsa too which is great. Service is spectacular. Wait staff frequently stopped by and anticipated our needs. They were super kind too. Ambiance is casual open space. Great for families and friends. We love stopping by. I think this is a sister restaurant to Juanita Cantina. Restroom is clean meaning the kitchen is clean. Tonight we wanted a simple Mexican Friday night dinner close to home. Plaza Garcia can be good but in my experience it's on and off for food quality and not consistent night to night. Food wise it was ok this time really but the service was just strange and not very well thought out. Ordering was fine but as we sat down to start discussing our day it seemed like I couldn't get a word in until we had ordered everything as the waiter was rushing. The food came quickly pretty much but upon finishing the server asked us to hand him plates and such and only worried about clearing the table when we had asked instead for a takeout but for my wife and a bill. He could bus the table when we were done without making us clear a booth table for him. But then not only once but twice he tried to sell dessert! They must have trained staff to clear tables and push dessert! We didn't want dessert Then when he finally billed us he came back to the table and brought the payment tray and stopped immediately short of our table and promptly turned parting and went back to the payment station. He had forgotten my card and one printed receipt from the printer!!?? The humorous part of this goofy service was the chips and salsa runner trying to give us fresh new stuff like we just got there. We had just finished our dinner and he's seen us three times with water and such. While her Marguerite's was pretty good, the food about average but not exceptional, the experience at Plaza Garcia is always different right down to yet another menu design. I could not see a big price change but the way things were organized, combos etc seemed different now. My order for a chimichanga became all kinds of confusing conversation of what sauce and meat when I asked for whatever comes with a pork chimichanga combo. It was arduous trying to ask him the same question three different ways before he understood. Simple order why make it tough? He was trying to upsell me to more expensive options! So weirdly in the bill he charged me for an a la carte chimi and a charge for rice and beans. Which is the combo I asked for..... Ironically it came in at $15.50 instead of the listed $18 on the new color menu. Not a problem for me on cost but clearly the staff here really needs to get more training on consistency and patient service to the diner and less upsell on menu items and better handling of credit card payments. We did not want dessert. Just a good meal without the confusions and issues. We did get an average at best meal. read more

I love this place and the staff, and we've been going here for years. They're great. But like...I've ordered the al pastor tacos a few times lately and they're...just bad. First, they for some reason do a birria-style taco, dipped/coated in consomé. Second, the pork is super dry, kinda burned and bad. Why can't you just make fresh food tacos? Why does it seem obvious that the pork was over-cooked days ago and reheated? I guess they really lean in to their burritos, but it feels like they used to serve good-quality tacos but I'm not really sure what they're doing now. It's just one of the worst tacos I've eaten and what a shame that is. I want you to be great, Plaza Garcia. But I'm confused about what you're doing with the basics. Honestly, Azteca makes much better al pastor tacos. That probably shouldn't be the case, right? read more

We were a table of 6 adults and 4 children. It was the first time that we try out this restaurant and we were all pleasantly surprised! We heard good things from other people, but didn't expect the food to be that good and authentic. Ambiance is cute, you definitely get a feel of a Mexican resto/vibe when you walk in - wish it was bigger and with more parking space. I highly recommend the fajita plate that comes with chicken, meat, and shrimps (good for 2-3 depending on how hungry you are). The kids meals came out right away, which was great. Tucked away in a corner close to two awkwardly placed stoplights is a little Mexican gem with tight parking on an incline. But all of that doesn't take away from what Plaza Garcia has to offer. If you are looking for superior customer service and great food at a reasonable (inflation-adjusted) price, this is it. On a hot summer day after a trip to the Juanita Friday market, we decided to grab some dinner even though it felt early bird(ish). The corn on the cob and the Salvadorian Horchata that we consumed at the market generated a kind of half empty half full hunger. We had driven by Plaza Garcia enough times to not ignore the 100% reopening and the packed tables. We caved! A decision that proved right I would say. We were seated right away and offered the traditional salsa and tortilla chips. We asked for hot salsa and the waitstaff got us 2 (a tomatillo and a chili). Very tasty and what can you say when you are offered seconds given that we ordered the Molcajete which does take time to make. We also got the vegetarian burrito. We were quite pleased with the Molcajete served with flour tortillas even though we could not figure out where the Nopales were hiding. Some of the best grilled meats and seafood. The rice and beans did not stand out as much...sort of like "La Preferida" if you know what I mean. The vegetarian burrito was decent though it lacked sauce on the bottom which would have really enhanced the flavor. Overall, a great experience and am sure it wasn't the hunger writing this review :-) If you are looking to support small businesses, Plaza Garcia deserves your best shot. read more

This place is GREAT! Great food, cute space and attentive, friendly service. My partner and I came in tonight on a Wednesday night at around 7:30 and it was still busy when we left at 8:15! We ordered the Deluxe Camaron Enchilada and the Carnitas de Puerco. The food was flavorful with good quality ingredients -- even the rice was so good! The portions are generous and my partner cleaned his plate! Here's a pro tip: ASK FOR HOT SAUCE. Oh my goodness. They make it in house and if they bottled it I'd buy it! It is that good!! It's probably been 10 years since I last went here. I'm really glad it's still around and still just as good as I remember it being from back then. I really like how it's unpretentious and welcoming. The staff was super friendly and definitely gave us prompt attention. They weren't kidding around with the size of the large margarita! My date remarked that the one was more than enough for dinner. I had a couple of glasses of wine. Both drinks were quite reasonable in price and the wine pour was generous. The food came out super quick, and it was absolutely delicious. I had a pork dish and the meat was reasonably good! Was hoping for something a bit more complex of a flavor profile but it was prepared where it was tender and almost fell apart on the fork. I snuck a bite of my date's fajitas and I'd absolutely consider getting those on a future visit. The overall meal price was well within expectations. First of all, we thought the chicken wings were fresh, flavorful and well seasoned. The margarita was decent but on the weak side; not a deal breaker though. However, the Molcajeta was bland and not served hot. The tasteless sauce at the bottom of the Molcajeta was lukewarm!!! The guacamole was tasteless. The beans, especially, needed salt. And the tortillas were barely warm. The Molcajeta alone, was $55. No point in saying more. If the food was better, you could have gained a new customer since we live close by. We sold our property known as "Singing Tree Acres" next to the gas station which is now called the Woodland Reserve by Tripoint Homes. When we sold I was led (more like mislead) to believe that the City of Kirkland was going to preserve all of the beautiful trees on the four acres especially the cedar trees bordering the front of the property. The trees were beautiful. Anyway. We return to the area to see how our family property has changed then we order our food (takeout) at Plaza Garcia. I used to order our takeout at the register and wait for my order but I have been ordering takeout online via their website at www.PlazaGarcia.com which is more efficient as the pick up time is as soon as possible. As soon as you submit your order online the system shows you on the top how many minutes the order will be ready. Last time I ordered my takeout order was ready in 14 minutes. My partner ordered the three enchilada combination and I ordered the two enchiladas and one taco or bean tostada combination the last time we went. For mine I ate half of it and finished the other half the next day. The portion is huge. The quality is good. Very flavorful and fresh. Due to inflation, their prices have increased which they do not have any control over. The customer service person at the register was nice. I highly recommend. read more

My daughter was looking forward to bringing me here. Finally made it out here to check it out. The place was small but cozy. We were coming from a walk along the beach with our pup so we were able to sit outside on the patio. It was a beautiful day. I asked for a flavored tea. The gentlemen serving us said he can make any flavor tea, he even threw out a few suggestions. I took him up on the Mango tea. Was not one bit sorry! I came during the weekday for a team lunch. We made a reservation but when we got there at 1pm it was pretty much empty. The parking lot is small so parking can be difficult during rush hour times. They give complementary chips and salsa and were very good on asking if we wanted more. The salsa roja sauce was really good but I knew I couldn't eat too much or else I wouldn't be able to finish my order. Overall the service was really prompt as well as allowing my coworkers to customize their orders. I got the Garcia burrito with shredded beef ($14.90) which was HUGE. I really didn't think I could finish it after seeing it placed on the table in front of me but I did barely (I didn't finish all the beans and tortilla). The shredded beef was good and some parts were fatty. I'm not the biggest fan of beans and I thought there was more than I liked so maybe I'll ask for less beans or ask for it on the side next time. They have a ton of lunch specials that are fairly priced and good sized as well. You'll definitely leave feeling satisfied and if you come for a weekday lunch you might just be too full to be productive at work the second half of the day. read more

Plaza Garcia is the baseline for what i'd expect out of a tex mex place. Very standard fare, everything is serviceable, with small complaints on most things. If you picture the one generic mexican place in a small town, this is it. Chips were done just a bit too long leaving a burned oily taste, chicken was dry, cheese wasn't melted, rice was tough. No one thing that was a major sticking point, just a broad feeling across all the dishes that not enough care went into the meal. If i had a craving for tex mex, and everywhere else was closed i might come back, but with another place so close that is much better i think i'd rather go there instead. read more

What starts a good experience at a Mexican restaurant for me is being given chips and salsa! The tomato-based salsa was made just right; the cabbage mix is a favourite of mine and surprised and glad to get it here. The people have been working there for years and you can tell it's a true family style restaurant which makes dining a lot better. It all begins with chips, salsa and their amazing pico de gallo. From there you can't go wrong with choosing anything on the menu. The fajitas are great same with the Mexican pizza, nachos, enchiladas you name it we have probably tried it and loved it all! Their drinks are great too, the Cadillac margarita is always a classic or you could try the coronita margarita or a sunset margarita with the muddled fruit.
