This diner was great! I'll start off with the good things and end with the not so good things. Number one, the burger was cooked perfectly! It was crisp on the edges and the inside was perfect! And also the bun was toasted perfectly!!! Number 2, the fries were crisp and the perfect texture! The edges were crisp and crunchy which means if you know me...count me in!!! Very disappointed for the second time. Wait time for food was long and when it arrived two of our three meals needed to be sent back. My grandson ordered a grilled cheese with avocado and received grilled cheese with mushroom instead. My husband ordered a pastrami on rye and it came on whole wheat that couldn't be held because it was so soft and crumbly. The waiter brought it back and it was the same bread only blackened and it still disintegrated when you tried to pick it up. I came here on a Saturday at noon. The service here was very prompt and attentive. I ordered the gyro which was quite flavorful. My son ordered Oreo pancakes which was really well done. Everyone here was gracious. The price was a bit higher than most diners nearby, given the level of service and commitment by the staff it was worth every penny. My husband and i hadn't been back to Pleasantville Diner since before the pandemic. We had a not so great experience and just had figured the new owners (at the time) were not keeping it at the level it had once been. Well I recently heard it had changed owners again and we decided to give it another try. The interior as of yet has not changed much. Some art on the walls (in the back) had changed but that's about it. It looks like they are waiting for some new tables and chairs. The menu has been downsized from what was a traditional diner sized menu. It had a lot of great options. My husband ordered the Turkey BLT Panini and I ordered a Greek omelet. His entree presented well, as did my omelet. The Turkey looked like it was cut off freshly roasted Turkey breast! It was a generous portion. The fries were delicious as well. My Greek omelet was well prepared and tasted delicious. I also enjoyed the home fries! The service was great, very attentive! At the end of our meal the owner brought over two desserts, on the house, for us to try at home! What a wonderful surprise! Looking forward to enjoying them tomorrow with our family! The food was good and I ordered a burger and they didn't remove the tomatoes but I just removed them. There was hair in my fries so I asked for a new plate but they just ignored me. The service wasn't that good. When we were leaving, I ordered a sprite to go. It took 30 freaking MINUTES to get it! I had to remind them and then they finally gave it to me and I forgot to mention the atmosphere. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There was spit and crumbs from the other family. I went back last week after being disappointed under the old ownership. I had a cheeseburger, medium rare with French fries and it was perfectly juicy and delicious. The service was great. I usually skip dessert but the manager insisted I try the carrot cake on him. I was not disappointed. I was so busy talking to the waiter, the server and the manager that my wife gave a dirty look for not taking to her. Finally a local diner with good food, good people and attentive staff. The wrap was pressed like a panini and stuffed to the max with chunks of chicken, lettuce, tomato, bacon and some avocado. The wrap was huge--each half was enough for one meal--and came with cole slaw and a dill pickle wedge. The sweet potato fries were ok. A bit mushy. I like them a little crispier than served. My friend had the buffalo chicken salad and enjoyed it. The service is courteous. We did wait a bit for our food. Most Turkey burgers can be dry...this was not dry at all...I required several napkins. Served with fresh Cole slaw and pickle. It had a side of sweet potato fries that were crispy and had a hint of cinnamon.. it went great with my coffee. NEVER COME HERE!!! They employ Avalon Towing, which is a complete SCAM! I sat and ate inside the diner, then walked around the farmers market after my meal. Went in for a quick after work dinner. This place is so hectic. We were seated. The room was freezing. There was a space heater. The table was not set up. Just one napkin wrapped silverware packet. The Waite took our order rushed us. I could not complete my order. He just moved on to my husband. Still. No set up on the table. No water. Nothing. We tell the very rushed and frantic hostess, maybe manager or owner (not sure) how cold it is. She moves a space heater from another couple. Still.... No water no set up. I told her I could not eat like this... rushed, with my coat on. I cancelled our order. This woman gave me such a shocked look. Almost a look like I was crazy. We walked out. This diner needs to be put on the map for the best customer service. I ordered a gyro came with French fries and a large order of Greek salad! Good so far... however, there was something that tasted sour and it was the lettuce - thought it was wilted so I stopped eating it as it didn't match the parts that were delicious( pita bread was fresh and the meat). I called the diner and spoke to the lady manager and explained my experience. She was humbly so apologetic and ask if she can make it up to me. Of course I was still hungry so I said okay. She said I will personally deliver another order. The diner is 15 minutes away however she showed up with a brand new order and a large piece of carrot cake. Why I write this is because no restaurant has ever treated me with such respect and dignity. This is what customer service is all about- your customers! Btw! The gyro plate which was great until certain bites was made super fresh and the taste was delicious as I was expecting to be the first time. To my surprise she threw in a carrot cake ; the carrot cake was moist with the perfect amount of sweetness. Overall, I want to make this post shouting out the Manager(female)!
