My wife and I enjoyed Miitake Buns ($8.00): tamari glazed pork shoulder, cilantro, pickled carrot and onion, chili aioli and Ploughman's Board ($6.00): assorted cured meats and cheese with whole grain mustard and baguette. Update to my prior review. My wife and I came back again, this time on a Sunday and without the baby. Harvest salad was good. The dressing isn't my style but overall it was nice. Over priced drinks with little to no booze in them filled mostly with sugar and juice. Service is less than par for what you pay and good luck on trying to find a comfortable seat in the place. We thought Plonk had great ambience and very good food. It was a Monday about 5pm and it seemed like one thing after another that we ordered the restaurant was out of. Two kinds of beer, one appetizer, and the salmon dish. We ended up ordering the salad, baked ricotta and split the beef dish. The staff was very nice and very busy. We would come back and do recommend Plonk. We just think the communication could be better between the kitchen and staff to pre warn the customers on what is available or not on the menu. read more

Thank you to Ryan and staff for a FANTASTIC late night experience! We had just driven all the way from Wyoming, had looked up reviews in advance and were set on visiting Plonk first thing we got to town (which turned out to be 10:45pm). Super easy and free to park right out front! We knew we needed food, and were not sure how late the kitchen was serving on a Tuesday night, but our lovely hostess assured us that we had just entered happy hour and there was a whole separate late night food list that looked fabulous. SO HAPPY at that point and we hadn't even had a drink yet! Then after chatting with Ryan for a min- and he is SUPER knowledgeable- we decided it had been too long since we've had proper manhattans. And oh, did they deliver! I am pretty sure it's on my top-ten-drinks-I've-ever-had list. Ryan recommended his fave Bourbon for mine, and I was so tired I can't remember the name... Then we got all the food. Falafel x2, personal Ploughmans, pork steam buns (after all, we were making apps into dinner). Big, bold flavors, very satisfying, a nice price for happy hour in such a charming and upscale location. Apparently, they also have a rooftop patio, which we didn't get to scope out, but we will next time we're visiting for sure! Places and experiences like this remind us of our favorite spots back home in the Twin Cities-thank you for being an oasis in our long day of driving and for serving so late. This place! Ok, keeping it real though, drinks and mixologist are on point! The food is good but a bit expensive for what you get. I'm not saying it's not worth it, but for an establishment of spirits, the food is on the small side for portions and high side for cost... but right in the Goldilocks zone for taste and presentation. The atmosphere is fun and inviting, the staff are friendly, entertaining, and knowledgeable. The repertoire of alcohol on hand is impressive but what really made this a 5 star review for me was the non-alcoholic drinks the mixologist can concoct. I had a few during my last visit that absolutely blew my mind. If you're like me and tend to be the designated driver, don't drink alcohol, or simply want to enjoy a new and interesting way to enjoy a finer establishment such as Plonk, I highly recommend asking for a cocktail without the spirit. Pretentious Pretentious Pretentious. There is a nice little roof top patio, and Plonk is well appointed but OY, that's about the only positive things I can say. Trying to eat at Plonk is an adventure, however it's not the type I would recommend. Kale Dip, Pork Belly, Duck Liver, you can try a SMALL plate of all of them for the low low price of your first born child. The drink menu is inventive (and way more palatable then the food) but again STEEP, maybe your second child for a cocktail. We are in Missoula MT, not Seattle, LA or New York. Let's all come back to reality, because I would really like to enjoy that rooftop patio without feeling like I need to break out the silk, satin and my tiara. read more

This used to be my go to every time I was in Missoula especially for visitors to the area. I came to Missoula with a friend for a fun run and told her we had to go to Plonk. After the run we went to Plonk for a drink and an appetizer planning on going to shower and come back for dinner. The waitress was rude didn't offer us water and acted Like we shouldn't even be there. I had even told several people here for the race to go and am now second guessing that recommendation. Will I go back? Update! The owner/manager reached out and asked for information. Ben is amazing and he asked us to come back in again and was more than generous with a gift card to support that. The server, Austin was great and we had the typical 5 star Plonk treatment! I am a big believer in giving another chance and Plonk is back on my must go to list. I cannot say enough about this place. The food is delicious and the wine menu is extensive. The service is always great as well. Plonk has a great atmosphere and would be a great place to take out any guests that you might have visiting from out of town. What an amazingly delicious place to eat!! My family and I were visiting from out of state and loved Plonk! I had the split pea soup and it was SO yummy, just a little spice which was a great addition to the soup!!! I also had the Plonk house salad and it was just the right amount of food with so many different tastes! My mom and sister ordered the spaghetti squash curry dish (I forgot the name) and it was SO freaken amazing!!! Our server was so friendly and welcoming and gave such great recommendations for all of the dishes. My sister also had her wedding reception dinner down in the cellar over the summer and they had a GREAT time!! This place is a MUST!!! read more

Love that they serve food late, patio is wonderful, server was attentive. My one complaint is that the fish sticks were quite disappointing. It was explained that the fish was very fresh so they fell apart (which is fine by me) but I suppose my problem lies with the texture. To me a fish stick is a filet of fish sliced into strips, then breaded. This was more of a fish-cake shaped into a stick, making it mushy and not helping with the whole falling apart situation. My tip - if your fish is so fresh, then let the quality shine through! Don't make it into a patty. read more

In spite of being super busy, the service from Kieran and everyone else was great! I highly recommend the G.F.C. Cocktail, yum! We arrived in missoula after 10pm looking for a place to eat. We yelped Plonk it had a 41/2 star rating and was serving dinner until 1:30am. We gave it a try thinking better than the alternative, fast food ! Wow Plonk is a must stop, the food was excellent and the service was even better, the waitress who felt more like a friend, very knowledgeable and professional, recommended an excellent wine from Greece, normally I stick with wines I know, but I took her advice, perfect recommendation!! I had the scallop dinner, delicious!! We're from Napa, Ca and I'd say we are foodies! We will definitely return to Plonk on our next visit to Missoula!! read more

This place. This place makes food that you thought only existed in your dreams. If I won the lottery I'd buy this restaurant and eat every meal here until the end of time. I should mention though Ive only ever been on weeknights. This is where I go for every special occasion. Most recently for my 2 year anniversary (woo!). One of the best parts is nothing was rushed. Service wasn't slow but we were more than capable of soaking up every part of our meal. We ordered a bottle of red win which was phenomenal. Then started with the spring rolls. My advice is to just pick these babies up with your hands and take a bite. The sauce is rich and creamy and like someone else said you'll be wanting more. Even though they came with a reasonable amount. For the main dish my boyfriend had the swordfish and I had the short rib bison. Oh. My. Gosh. Im not even a fish fan but tried a bite of the swordfish and I know the true meaning of melt in your mouth now. Even if you didn't have any teeth you could eat that fish with ease. The bison though. When the waitress set it down I honesty thought it smelled like bacon. It goes without saying it didn't even require a knife. I have never eaten something so slowly in my entire life. Just trying to savor every little bite. The picture is kind of a misrepresentation because the portion looks small but it was sitting on top of two similar size pieces. Plonk is one of my go-to places when you want all your highest expectations fulfilled. Exceptional atmosphere particularly in the outdoor spaces in summer and fall. Although they may be less generous with proportions for the price, I'd say it's a price worth paying as nothing but the best is served at Plonk. A great place for cocktails and a curated cheese plate if you'd rather avoid full entree. I hear they also have a wine cellar for large parties , ill be checking that out next year. My wife and I stopped here on vacation and really liked the place. Food was really good - we shared the green salad, black cod and sockeye salmon special. We got this chocolate "cheesecake" that was vegetarian and made with cashews. Now my wife was worried because I am very snooty about my chocolate desserts. Even though they don't like to admit it, Bozeman and Missoula have a lot in common. Both have excellent public universities, and both are located in beautiful Rocky Mountain terrain. Sure, Missoula trends to the liberal, Pacific NW while Bozeman resembles Aspen, but these are more stereotypes than anything else. Both are Montana through and through. And both now have a Plonk wine bar as part of their nightlife offerings. Wine bars are not for everybody, and Missoula has its share of dives, student bars, and local microbreweries, so that's not really an issue. Plonk adds an extra element into the mix, with good food and excellent by-the-glass offerings. It's a little exotic, but it's Missoula we're talking about, not Polson, after all. We can handle exotic. I liked the vibe here, which was bustling even on a Tuesday night. The wines were very good, the seating options varied, and the service was polite, prompt, and professional. It takes all kinds to make an urban landscape really shine, and Missoula is definitely a place where hip culture and cowboy attitudes can mix. No, it's not Bozeman, and thank goodness for that. But it can handle a wine bar or two without losing its soul. Plonk seems to fill a niche, and that's not a bad thing, at all. read more

Nowhere near as good as rated. My wife and I went there around 7:30 pm on a Friday. The place was attractive and about half full. I ordered the lamb chops, my wife a salad. My food was excellent which is the only reason they get three stars and not two. There were four lamb chops on my plate with risotto (which was spectacular). A "rack of lamb" is six, not four but of course they can define it any way they wish, I suppose but for $32 you really ought to spring for the entire rack. The minuses were what drove the rating down. The service was nothing special. I had to call back the waitress when she took our order because she didn't bother to ask me how I wanted my lamb prepared and the entire time we were there they played loud techno music to the extent that we could not talk. Are you are restaurant or an after hours club? Maybe the kids like going there for the music and the wine but then they probably can't afford the food. My suggestion is that during dinner hours you treat patrons like you are serving dinner. read more

I am a huge foodie and have lived in New York, Philadelphia, DC, and San Francisco. I also travel a lot for work to Seattle, Portland Miami, Chicago, Denver, and Miami. I have to say this is as good as it gets. This is where thought is put into everything from the sauces to the garnish. While I ate extensively from the menu one of my favorite dishes was the carrott cake. Yes, carrot cake. The cake was perfectly executed but they then deconstructed the cake serving a carrot puree sauce with apple gelee and and a nut compote garnish. I felt like I was at a Vetri or Garces restaurant back in Philadelphia. Cocktails were also made to perfection as well. I ate here twice and twice at the Bozeman location so I can vouch for their consistency as well. Tip: Go on Monday Nights for service industry night for an amazing cheap meal. I walked in after a wonderful dinner and got a pretty good flirtini... it was delicious and all, but after about two of those I was ready to wind it down a little bit and get a good old traditional Montana, American, delicious and simple Bud Light. I was surprised was the fact that they don't even carry this. They let me know that I could get that at all other bars in the area, just not here. I was thinking maybe I could settle for a Pacifico. But apparently didn't carry those either... As I was listening to wash up jazz and eating some flavored nuts, I kept wondering why I was sipping on a Stella, instead of a Bud Light.
