I have eaten dinner at hay loft for over 20 some yrs without any real issues yesterday it took over 50 minutes after ordering to get their chicken fried steak and a patty melt I don't know what kind of issues are going on in kitchen but the management better get it figured out or business will decline very quickly and we were the only party in there!???? read more

We walked in at 8:35 and were immediately told they were closed- yet the sign on the door said 9:00. We were told we could go to the bar- which was extremely busy. She said they will cook food for you. If they are cooking why couldn't we get served? We don't do the bar scene. Very disappointing. read more

Has both a diner and bar section, lots of decorations and loud music. The bar side does have some mildly inappropriate decor, so be careful when bringing kids over there. Overall just a fun place to go for a dinner with family. Food is good, about what you would expect from a small town bar and diner. Bar workers are amazing and hilarious. Expect great service, killer drinks (Kiara's Bloody Mary bites back in the best way), and simple food done really well. Watched a local win the shake-a-day. Well, not being from here, and not being in this restaurant portion before, I expected better. Not in the way you might think. The food was really good, really good. The manager/our waitress acted as f we were stupid for asking what we were asking about the meals. She was really short, shrugged her shoulders, open her eyes as if I just asked a question outside of her job set. When we asked if it was too late to put in an order of cheese sticks. I am big on reviews, reading keeps me out of places where I might have other wise wasted my money. So, writing a review is just as important to me as reading them and its why I wrote this. I won't go back there. I was going to ask for the managers name and research the company website and email this company, but sadly the waitress WAS the manager so where do you go from there? I saw this restaurant as I was turning off of 93 on to Highway 12. There were a number of cars in the parking lot so decided to stop. It was almost 2:00pm and only a few tables were occupied. The waitress was prompt and menus selections were very good. I decided on a Turkey Rubin and a salad instead of fries. When I ordered I asked for a balsamic vinegarette and the waitress said they had it but suggested the Huckleberry Salad dressing. I went with it and was not disappointed. I thought it was going to be too sweet but it was not at all and tart enough to make my side salad perfect. Also their dark rye bread was excellent on the sandwich. The service is excellent they are super friendly. I eat here a couple times before and it wasn't bad but this last time I wasn't too happy. The coffee tasted like coffee flavored water ...My understanding is only 1 tablespoon of coffee is used and just the quality of food I don't know why but my food looked like it was warmed over but it could've been just the quality of food that was used...I am not a picky person and I love orange juice with my meal but this was orange juice I couldn't drink. This place has such good potential the location the atmosphere the customer service ....But I would just like to see the quality of food go up a notch read more

I am in town visiting family from Utah. We don't get to gamble there so my boyfriend and I decided to go grab a beer and play some slots. I waited at the bar for 20 minutes before I was even acknowledged, I watched the bartender be rude to multiple other customers before coming over to me. My purse was stolen a couple weeks ago so I have a paper ID which I know they don't usually accept here so I also have my passport. I handed her my paper ID and I was digging through my purse looking for my passport. She VERY rudely told me they don't accept them and tossed it back at me. She had walked away before I even had a chance to tell her I had my passport. When my boyfriend went up to grab a beer she was telling her coworker how sick she was of "children" coming in. Now I'm 22 but I know I look young, if she would've giving me maybe 30 seconds she would've seen that. read more

The diner features displays of vintage guns, which I found really cool to look at as we waited for our food. The wait was a bit long, and the waitress was a bit curt and seemed in a hurry, the prices seemed a bit expensive, and the food wasn't all that great. I had bacon and eggs, and it just tasted kind of bland. This place isn't horrible, but if you're looking for a tasty meal it's worth looking elsewhere. read more

Service is consistently bad. It has been the same woman working every time and each time I have been there (about 3 or 4 times since I started working in the area) this lady has been miserable. Every time you speak to her, she acts as if you are ruining her life. Never refills drinks. I completely understand that it is not easy to deal with people all the time (I worked in restaurants for years) but if you can't deal with it, you should not be a server. Hayloft Deli has recently upgraded and gotten booths! And new flooring! YAY! They also ditched their soup and salad bar and started making homemade soups. Such a great change! They now offer breakfast served all day on some occasions. They got some new, younger, cheerful staff for awhile which was such a positive change from the cranky waitstaff, but they must not have lasted long because they're back to the cranky waitstaff, but I found with them you really have to sweet-talk them and they're fine. The signs says they have a new chef, I tend to believe it because the food has been better and more consistent. And as always, great tator-tots and chicken strips. read more

Unfortunately there's a character limit so I am unable to completely describe every horrible thing that happened here. This used to be my favorite restaurant in the Missoula area. I had been talking it up for quite a while to my GF and we finally set a date to take the family out for dinner here. What followed was by far the most horrid dinning experience of my life. The place was slow at the end of the night when we arrived. 3 Adults and 2 children. The place was dirty, we had to actually clean our table ourselves. We were here over an hour in total before our food started coming out. Our drinks were forgotten and I'd had to go to the server bar and refill them myself. The waitress was friendly at first and after repeatedly asking for the same water for my children over and over she became very rude. When our appetizer order came out incorrect, and the one appetizer I actually DID order was black and inedible she interogated me on what my problem with the food was. I asked for a check to leave in disgust and she disappeared for another 20 minutes in the back. When she DID finally come out it wasn't with my check, it was with the food we'd ordered 45 minutes earlier. I sent the food back and repeated my request for the check. When it arrived, I told her I was unwilling to pay for the food we received after asking for the check. I was unwilling to pay for the poppers I couldn't eat, but I'd pay for the kids meals we got 20 min earlier and the cheese sticks (that I didnt even order). She flipped. In front of all the other tables she yelled at us, threatened us and I have never been more embarassed in my life! I demanded management and got the phone number for the owner and the kitchen manager told us we were free to leave. Should have been the end right? Nope. I called the owner the next day to complain and he seemed very sincere. He offered to comp us a meal to give them another chance. I was grateful. This restaurant had been my favorite for years before I moved out of Lolo and I was very upset at what had happened. I told my gf that we were gonna go back, that the owner wanted to make it up to us and to just give it another try. I finally convinced her to have an open mind and to agree to give them another chance. Went here for dinner and the meatloaf was off the hook. The mashed potatoes were yum with the skins left in like I like them. The lady waiting tables was efficient and very personable. The ambiance was very pleasant. My Mom and I had just beat the dinner crowd, and you can tell the place is popular as it was just filling up as we left. We had a party of 14, we arrived at 8:25 am on a Sunday. She took 4 other tables orders that arrived after our group. We ordered at 8:45 and the first round of meals arrived at out table at 9:34. The waitress was rude, slow and 4 orders were wrong. 3 meals arrived after everyone was done eating. The food was good thought. We had food and milk ordered that never made it to the table but was on our bill. We heard the waitress being rude to other customers right behind us. When I asked the waitress why the slow serves she said we have a small kitchen and no advance notice of the large group. My 1 star is for the service. I'd rate the food at 3.5 stars. read more

This is the first time I've dined in the restaurant. I ordered to go their fried chicken and jojos. The food is pretty good especially for the price. However on dining in we had the worst service I have ever had at any restaurant. My fiance, son and I took my mother and step father out to lunch here for mother's day. My fiance and I sat down and settled my son. They were a little busy but not too bad. After a bit of sitting down the waitress came and asked us what we wanted to drink I ordered water and my fiance coffee we also ordered apple juice for my son. She brought back the coffee and a decanter of water but no glasses. Then she asked us if we were ready to order. We told her we had no menus and we were waiting on 2 others. I asked for the glass and when she brought the stack of glasses over they were wet and still no apple juice so we asked for that and a kids menu. She brought the apple juice back but forgot the kids menu. So we asked again. We ordered food and I ordered a burger with jojos and a side of ranch. my stepfather ordered a sandwich with fries instead of the potatoes and we ordered a chicken strip kids meal for my son my mother and fiance also ordered ranch. When the food came I got my order but no ranch and asked her for that. My stepfather got his order but didn't get fries so she was going to fix that and my son's food didn't come at all. She said it was going to be right out because of something to do with the friers. She came back with my stepfathers corrected plate and I asked for ranch again. Also my son still didn't have a meal so I was sharing mine with him. We were nearly done before his came out and I still had to ask again for ranch. I should have given up but it was on principal now. Finally she brought me my ranch and I finished my jojos and my son finally was able to eat his meal after and hour or so wait. As we finished our meal she brought the check over so we put our card in it and waited and waited and waited for her to take it. She finally did and we asked her for a box for our food when she came back. She returned with the receipt and no box but ran off before we could say anything. My fiance was upset by now and wasn't going to let it go because she wanted her to complete what we were sure was a reasonable request. So we asked again and she gave us attitude and ran and grabbed a box and gave it to us with a huff like we were inconveniencing her. So finally our dining experience was complete... happy mothers day to us. I'm sorry but based on that experience I will not return. Not even for takeout. read more
