Crispy shrimp dish off their specialty board, so good
    Kaitlin K.

Great food, everything was fresh with well balanced flavors per dish. Tom yum soup was delicious, hands down better than the other thai option in town. Service was good, friendly staff but not over bearing. The ambiance is clean and simple, well lit and quiet atmosphere. Definitely a good place to take family/kids as they have ample seating and chill environment. Dollar tree is conveniently located across the street with ample lot parking right outside the doors. Will be back

Ploy Thai Bistro is still the best Thai restaurant in Cle Elum area! Went there yesterday and the food was still bomb! Only thing changes was limit capacity for indoor dining. Great service and food.

Ploy Thai Bistro is a great lunch stop in Cle Elum about and hour away from the Gorge. The restaurant was very clean and decorated with plant and Thai trinkets. My friends and I came around 3:00pm for lunch and there were only two other tables filled. We were served immediately with the sweetest waitress. She made sure all of our orders were in order and checked back when changes needed to be made. Service was also very quick! Side note: Cell service is slim in this restaurant and the areas around. Panang Curry with Chicken (spice level 3): I loved how this curry had mushrooms and lots of chicken. There was a great balance of veggies and meat. The curry broth was decent, but not the best I've had. If you enjoy a light spice in your meal, then 3 is the perfect level. The rice on the side was also cooked very well. I was pretty full after eating the entire meal. Overall, Ploy Thai Bistro is a great stop if your heading to the Gorge or want a comforting meal for only $11! Will definitely come back to try other dishes.

My girlfriend and I stopped here on a small trip and we chose this place. AMAZING DECISION. The lobby was clean, had an amazing vibe, and despite being understaffed due to COVID they had amazing times on all of the dishes and everything was cooked to perfection. I'm talking mouthwatering good. Amazing service. Wish we lived closer. Appetizer was crab wontons 10/10 perfect crunch and freshly cooked. My girlfriend got the Garlic chicken - FANTASTIC. Had amazing flavor. I got the green curry and it was probably one of the best bowls of curry I have ever had.

Decided to eat here after driving thru & shopping at the Dollar Tree. Very yummy Thai food! Check out their specials, we had curry fried rice with prawns & chicken Panang curry. Both were yum! Clean place with friendly family owned service. Stop here for a good meal when driving on I-90 & tired of greasy fast food. Cheap gas & groceries nearby too.

We came at around 4:30pm and the place was already pretty busy. Thankfully, they were able to seat my group of 7 people right away. The menu is pretty extensive and has curry, noodles, soups, fried rice, etc. My boyfriend and I ordered the RAMA NOODLES (4 star) with chicken and the PAD SEE EW (3 star) with chicken. My friends ordered the PINEAPPLE FRIED RICE, the NOODLE BOAT SOUP, the PAD THAI, and the YELLOW CURRY. The PAD RAMA was fantastic. The peanut butter sauce was super creamy and I think had coconut milk in it too giving it that extra richness. It also wasn't overly sweet which was a plus. The chicken was cut nice and thin and there were lots of vegetables. The PAD SEE EW was alright. The waiter warned our group that a 3 star was a 4 star at another restaurant, and he was definitely right. While we enjoy spice (and often order 4-5 stars at other restaurants), 2 stars would've been adequate. It was spicier than the pad Rama, but that was likely because the pad Rama had sauce to cut the spice. Everything else enjoyed their dishes. However, the PINEAPPLE FRIED RICE was overly salty and the NOODLE BOAT SOUP was also pretty spicy. Also, the YELLOW CURRY was huge but tasted different than your typical curry... I'm not sure what it was. As other Yelpers have stated, while the food is great, service can be slow so you can't be in a rush. They have 2-3 ppl on waitstaff seating people, waiting tables, tending the bar, etc. and the food might not come out all at once either (however we had a big group and so that was more understandable). The restaurant is clean inside and they have a huge bathroom that is clean as well. They also play old classic music videos on the TV. Overall: 3.5/5 for food, 3/5 for service, 3/5 for atmosphere

Maybe my first time having spring rolls that had carrot in them. I ordered the Phad See Eiw with Chicken. The default of this entree is wide rice noodle, egg and broccoli. Quite plain, but it was filling. My boyfriend ordered the Spicy Chicken Special. It wasn't spicy at all in our opinion. However, it was still good and probably one of the best items to order on the menu. It came with a side of rice, unlike most of the other entrees on the menu if it wasn't a house or noodle dish. The service was good. We didn't have any issues with ordering, being seated, or paying.

Sugar Thai was a restaurant I…read moreused to like, but ever since its long post-pandemic closure and change of ownership, it has progressively gotten worse and worse. I'm from Los Angeles, and I have extensive experience with great Thai food. My favorite was the exceptional Tommy Tang's on Melrose. Mr. Tang had a Thai cooking show on PBS. I treasure his cookbook. There are three classic dishes I use as a review guide: Tom Kha Gai soup, Chicken Panang curry, and Pad Thai. It's hard to ruin these dishes but also difficult to do them exceptionally well. Tonight my wife and I had Tom Kha and Pad Thai. We had to throw away all of our pricey order. It was inedible. Fish sauce. I'm not a fan, but it's an ingredient used by all but the very best Thai restaurants. But most will use it sparingly. Not Sugar Thai. They have progressively added unbelievable amounts of fish sauce to nearly every dish, overpowering all other flavors. I've tried to beg the new owners to reduce or make fish sauce optional. They just look at me like I'm crazy. When I first arrived in Ellensburg in 2018, I was astonished to find a quality Thai restaurant. Not Seattle or Los Angeles quality, but still a 6 or 7 out of 10. I've probably eaten at their location at least twenty times. But no longer. I wish this new version of Sugar Thai was at least mediocre, but it has become genuinely horrible over the past two years. I can only hope that ownership will once again change hands, and quality Thai food will return to Ellensburg.

Top and Jenny Rojanisthien reopened his parents' "The Thai Restaurant", renaming it "Top Thai" in April of 2025. Google Top Thai to learn their backstory. Food quality and flavors are second to none. I had Panang Curry on Wagyu Beef this evening, with a Kirin Ichiban beer. Where can you order a Wagyu steak dinner for $28? I'm an accomplished chef and I don't know how they can afford to serve that quality for that price (see the pics). Panang is the sweetest of the curries--a combination of lemon grass, chilies, coriander, garlic, cumin, and peanut in a coconut cream, elevated with palm sugar, fish sauce, and shrimp paste. My dish was garnished in fresh Thai basil and julienned bell pepper. The Wagyu beef was pull-apart--that's no surprise! But honestly, even without the beef, this was the best Panang curry I've ever had. Look over the menu--there are so many popular South Asian food options. I'm going to try the "Larb" next time. Special thanks to "Piah" my waitress who plated the leftovers to take home to Sherrie. I said to Piah, "You forgot to charge me for the Kirin!" She said, "No, you came during happy hour...you got the 20% discount." WOW - 5 Stars !!!
