Wanted to give a shoutout to the Thai restaurant in the Safeway Plaza in North Bend. Wednesday nights are our usual "go out" night, and we wanted to try something new. So we stopped by Taan Thai Cookery and had a delicious meal. We shared an appetizer of spring rolls - crispy and delicious, served in the tiny mesh basket they were fried in. The plum sauce was the perfect taste to accompany them! Then my wife had a bowl of Thai fried rice with shrimp. The rice was slightly nutty and slightly sweet, and the rest of the ingredients were well-prepared and cooked. I had the Thai Beef Soup, which is similar to Pho, but spiced differently. It was also delicious, and with the 3-stars of heat, it was just about perfect! (I might go for 4 stars next time, as I like spice and heat in my food.) Our meal was delivered to our table quickly, and we spent a leisurely hour just eating and talking, and enjoying our time and the food. Highly recommend this place for good food! As we said last night upon leaving, we've found a new place to put into our rotation of "great places to eat in the Valley." read more

A gem in the neighborhood, the place itself was very quaint and comfortable. I got the Green Curry Lunch Special with chicken at a mild spice level. It was delicious!! The coconut flavor and green curry paste work so well together. The chicken was also tender and was complimented well with the curry. It came with two spring rolls, pad thai, and rice for 16.50, not bad!! They have this M-F from 11:30-3:30. I didn't finish my rice since pad thai was my chosen carb on the plate, and it was also very tasty. My SO had the Cashew Chicken which was also very good. Was in the mood for something with glass noodles so I gave this place a shot. I ordered the Thai Sukiyaki with beef, shrimp & extra noodles. The price was a hefty $27, but it was enough for 2 meals. I called in for take out for a picnic at the park on a Thursday around noon and was told my food would be ready in 5 min! I was pleasantly surprised how fast it was! I got there maybe after 10 minutes and my food and drink was ready to go. The restaurant itself is small but new and modern on the inside (not what you'd expect from the outside being in an older strip mall in Snoqualmie). I ordered phad see-ew and an Thai iced tea. Excellent from start to finish. Chicken strips and crab Rangoon to start and they were both well cooked and flavorful. The Crab Rangoon actually has crab and isn't just stuffed with crèam cheese. We've been here multiple times and the standouts for us have been crab fried rice and the beef noodle soup. Both were generous and, more importantly, delicious. Really disappointed in the service we received. I ordered takeout and one item was missing, so I called to let them know. I was met with denial that the item was missing and the person was not only dismissive but slightly rude. My husband went to get the missing item and there was no apology. We will not be returning to Taan, which is unfortunate because we try to support local businesses as much as possible. Best last minute decision when we were in the area! Called ahead same day for our large party of 7 and they were able to fit us in for a weekend lunch no problem. Strip mall parking, interior space was welcoming and clean. Server helped set up high chair, provided kids plates and utensils, very family friendly. Food was flavorful, we enjoyed our usual papaya salad, pad Thai, pad see eew and panang curry. Although we requested mild spiciness, this did not affect the flavor unlike some other Thai places we've been to which was great. Fried chicken dish was also good but slightly salty. Disappointing Experience - Rude Service & Poor Quality This was my second time visiting, and after tonight's experience, I don't think I'll be back. The service was shockingly rude, and the food quality was disappointing. When I arrived, there were two tables occupied. A man who had just gotten up in front of me to order was told to sit back down and that they'd take his order at his table--he seemed visibly frustrated. I then approached the counter to pick up my order, gave my name, and was handed a bag along with a half-full cup of Thai pink milk. When I asked about the drink, the girl at the counter curtly told me it was because I ordered no ice. I explained that I requested no ice so it wouldn't get watered down with wait time- travel time but I still was hoping for a full drink. She dismissively said, "Oh well." I even offered to pay extra to have it filled properly, but she refused. Next, we had ordered a special that included bananas and vanilla ice cream, but requested coconut ice cream instead. She immediately told me they don't allow substitutions. I said I'd be happy to pay extra, but she still refused. I then pointed out that they should have called me before preparing the order so I could have removed it. In response, she rolled her eyes and walked away. When she returned, she replaced the full ice cream container with one that barely had a single scoop--far less than what I had originally been given. The food itself was also disappointing. The chicken satay was drenched in an excessive amount of sauce, making it nearly inedible--we had to wipe it off just to eat it. Even worse, it was ice cold despite us picking it up immediately at the designated time and eating in the car. The soup, priced at $8.50, was shockingly small for the cost, and I wish they had been more transparent about portion sizes on their website. The tofu fresh rolls were the only redeeming item, and ironically, they were warmer than the chicken satay. To top it all off, when I got home, I noticed they had recharged my bill without notifying me, adding extra charges for sides of peanut sauce I never even ordered. It's completely unacceptable to alter a bill without informing the customer. I had planned to leave a $10 cash tip for the to-go order, but after such rude service and unexpected charges, I decided against it. Frankly, I'm glad I didn't leave a tip given how poorly everything was handled. This place has potential, but with rude staff, stingy portions, and unauthorized charges, I won't be returning. read more

I'm glad we finally have a good Thai place in town. We ordered online and picked up about 15 minutes later. The Thai Fried Rice and the Pad See Eww were the standouts flavor wise. The vegetables with chicken and rice had a higher rice ratio than veggie and chicken, which seemed backwards. The Pad Thai tasted good. Overall, the four of us commented on how much smaller the entrees were than our go-to place, and that each entree was priced at $2 more. We'd normally get a full square container full, and these are half that size, so I assume we got 1/3 to 1/2 less food than most places. Don't expect leftovers. We almost ordered 3 entrees instead of 4, and would have ran out of food for the 4 of us. The four entrees costed about $85 with tip. One more very important thing is that my gallbladder is doing the battle royale after our dinner last night. The amount of oil used is overkill. I'm glad we finally tried the place, and we'll be back, but probably not as much because that is some of the most heavy oiled food I've had. If they'd cut back on it, it would still taste the same and not make my stomach so angry. read more

Great variety. Lettuce wraps were gold. Panang curry! Larb! The kids inhaled the pad Thai. Phase Kee Mao was maybe my favorite. So flavorful. And crispy chicken cashew is our new go to. **Eat here at your own risk.** So, there's the food safety rating of okay. That gave us pause for thought but we had already ordered before noting it. Then, we were served the worst Thai food in over a decade of eating out at assorted Thai restaurants across this state and other locales (bland, lack of balance of the tastes/flavors... the very heart of Thai cooking). My husband and I both ordered their featured dish, a curry soup. My girls both ordered pad see ew with chicken. All very disappointing. Then, as we were eating, a customer came in to report she had gotten sick from her recent take out order. We were left to wonder what this experience had in store for us. I had really hoped for a good Thai place in North Bend, but I still don't feel we have one. We tried Taan Thai shortly after it opened and it was okay. Tried again recently and was quite disappointed. For what we received the quality/quantity of the food was not good and the price was crazy. For two orders of Thai fried rice and four orders of fresh rolls it was well over $100 for a take-out order. Base menu prices often don't include a choice of protein, so watch for this as well. They upcharged $3 for shrimp in the fresh rolls, but only put ONE in each roll, so we paid an extra $1.50 *per shrimp*. (Two rolls per order.) Similar thing with beef in the fried rice. Extra charge for an ounce or so of gristly sliced meat instead of chicken. The rice was also really goopy and overly sweet, so we did not even want to eat it. Even if the hours of the Thai restaurants in Snoqualmie are a challenge, I won't try again to compensate with the two choices we have in town. read more

New Thai restaurant in the neighborhood!! My wife and I heard about this restaurant from other post around the area that gave it positive reviews so wanted to try it ourselves. I ordered online was quick and easy for pickup. We ordered the spring rolls they were crispy and fresh, The crispy chicken cashew and the Phad Ka prow. Food look good, was fresh and great flavored sauce and good size portions for us. very nice staff greeted me as I came in. Will be going back soon to try other dishes on the menu. Inside the restaurant was clean and new it will be a nice place to sit down and eat in restaurant next time we try it. read more

Amazing Thai restaurant stop after ski trip at Snoqualmie. Nice ambiance, kid friendly, great food and service. We ordered beef noodle, khao soi, and crab fried rice. Been there three times so far and my most recent visit I notice the food safety review slapped on the window where they received the lowest passable rating??? Just the time before I go there and it's super busy, but the server is running around anxiously and yelling while people wait without food. Completely empty since that sticker in the window. The food didn't taste bad. I was excited they had a dedicated space for vegan food items. But explain how I get food poisoning from I heart Teriyaki next door and they get the highest food safety rating, yet the brand new restaurant besides a grocer doesn't.
