You might think "Top" is an adjective referring to the quality of the Thai cuisine-- that certainly would be accurate! Actually, "Top" is the name of the owner and chef. Top and Jenny Rojanisthien reopened his parents' "The Thai Restaurant", renaming it "Top Thai" in April of 2025. Google Top Thai to learn their backstory. Food quality and flavors are second to none. I had Panang Curry on Wagyu Beef this evening, with a Kirin Ichiban beer. Where can you order a Wagyu steak dinner for $28? I'm an accomplished chef and I don't know how they can afford to serve that quality for that price (see the pics). Panang is the sweetest of the curries--a combination of lemon grass, chilies, coriander, garlic, cumin, and peanut in a coconut cream, elevated with palm sugar, fish sauce, and shrimp paste. My dish was garnished in fresh Thai basil and julienned bell pepper. The Wagyu beef was pull-apart--that's no surprise! But honestly, even without the beef, this was the best Panang curry I've ever had. Look over the menu--there are so many popular South Asian food options. I'm going to try the "Larb" next time. The newly rebuilt restaurant is very nice. The guy that waited on us was great! Unfortunately the food was not what we expected. The beef in my dish was dry and pretty much tasteless. Our appetizer of chicken satay lacked flavor. My husband had a curry and he didn't finish his dish. If you knew my husband, this isn't a normal thing! We really wanted to love this place. I just ordered this beautiful mango sticky rice to go, and I was amazed by how aesthetically pleasing it looked. When I went to pick it up, I caught a glimpse of the restaurant, and it has such an awesome vibe. I can't wait to dine in! Placing the takeout order was easy, and it was ready in just 15 minutes. I just ate at Top Thai for the first time and had such a great meal! I don't generally like fresh spring rolls because I find them bland and full of lettuce and vermicelli and that's about it. The spring rolls here were delicious both because of the sauce and because of what was actually in the spring rolls. I've been eating here since they opened when I was a kid. So long that I remember eating at The Thai when they were renting the building that La Fuente is now in. I suppose I'm giving away my age. I've always liked the food here. It's been a favorite place and I was really bummed when they were closed for so long after the fire and during the remodel. Now they've reopened and we have gone a few times. Certainly there's some sticker shock now as the prices have gone up a rather ridiculous degree. The food is still good and the service was pleasant. I will note that the tofu is very bland even when in a dish that is full of flavor so they're doing something wrong in preparing the tofu. I'm guessing the tofu is premade separately and then just thrown into the dish which means it doesn't absorb the flavor of the dish properly. It leaves the tofu like a bland afterthought that isn't cohesive with the dish. What is most sad, and is the reason for this review, is that they now charge fees for debit card use. Businesses can charge fees for CREDIT card use, and well informed businesses do so while recognizing they cannot charge fees for DEBIT card use. This business has chosen to unlawfully charge its customers for using their debit cards. And they're charging more than it actually costs them. So, not only are they charging ridiculously high prices for the food, they're also seeking to make money unlawfully by charging fees to use your debit card. So, after decades of patronage, I'm waiving a permanent goodbye. It's important not to support businesses that commit unlawful practices against the public. It's when we remain silent that this issue proliferates amongst the business owners that don't know what they're doing and the public is being wronged. In the 35 years since you began, you're no longer the only good Thai food in town. You're just the most expensive and now, the most unlawful. read more

The Thai opened up later this year as Top Thai. Upon entering I was amazed at how the interior had been newly designed. It has such a clean and modern feel. I came here to especially order the Tom Yum soup. It's a go to item I crave when I'm a little under the weather or experiencing cold like symptoms. Although it wasn't the best Tom Yum soup I've ever had (it was kinda sweet, lacked substance & the chicken was overcooked) it was just what my body needed. We also ordered fried spring rolls which my husband was a big fan of and the chicken satay which was a super big hit for both of us. I would say that the chicken satay was one of the best I've ever had. I will go back to Top Thai just to order it again soon! Our waiter was top notch and was extremely attentive at just the right moments. He was kind and pleasant - exactly what every business owner would want in an employee! I have been eating here for 15 years and it has been good and poor. Service has always pretty good. Carl in the bar was a great person. Then came the fire and the rebuild. My son visited recently and said his Pad Thai was juicy and the best he had eaten. I had read some poor reviews and wanted to let them get adjusted so we went out a week later. First, the new decor is modern. We were seated next to one of the 4 occupied tables where a couple were having a discussion. We could have been seated elsewhere, but many of the rest were not bussed. It was a tuesday night. Okay, maybe they had a rush and were trying to catch up. We were offered water and a menu about 5 minutes after seating. I noticed they moved the heat vents to the center of the building and no longer near the windows. Still rather cold near the windows. Not a big thing. Finally, we were asked if we were ready to order (about 15 minutes in now) so we ordered beverages and thought we better get our food ordered at this rate. Beer came with only 12 oz in the pint glass because someone felt I like over an inch of foam. Beer should always be poured to the rim for a full pint. Be aware, like real Thai restaurants worldwide, the food comes slightly spicy. No star system, you can add heat from the condiments on the table. Its a shocker for Americans, but typical due to what a chef thinks is 2 star or 4 star that day. Food arrived, great I was so excited. That did not last. Both of our dishes were lukewarm at the most. My Pad Thai noodles had sat so long they absorbed any moisture that may have been there. Pad Thai should be served with plenty of sauce so the noodles slip off the fork or chop stick, not stuck together. The other dish had peanut sauce that was not very flavorful and lukewarm. I must add that the chicken satay will come deep fried and not baked. That dish was hot and fresh and the peanut sauce superb. Now, this restaurant was previously called The Thai restaurant and the hot and cold issues were increasing towards the early 2020's. The sticky and dry pad thai has always been an issue at this restaurant. I can only guess that they put take away food over the customers taking up space in the joint. It would be great if they could just bring in a Thai chef to teach how to cook thai food correctly, serve that food hot and fresh, prioritize the customers who are there eating. I really want to love this place, but they have work to do. Now, perhaps the chef we had is new or overworked versus the chef the night my son at there. He knows his food well, so I trust his opinion that this place can be very good. Do try them out and find out for yourself if they meet your desires. This restaurant has reopened as Top Thai, with refreshed interior including booths, paint and fixtures. It seems lighter and brighter than it used to. The food is flavorful and the veggies are nice and fresh. We had the veggie fresh rolls, yellow curry and pad kee mao, all were very tasty. We weren't asked for spice level, so everything arrived without spice. The curry was too sweet. The tofu in the noodle dish was tougher than leather and tasted off, so I didn't eat it. There was a long black hair in this dish too. We were given a discount on this dish, which was better than nothing, but not enough to warrant giving this restaurant another try. They warned us up front that they were short-staffed in the kitchen so we understood things were going to be slow. Even with only a few occupied tables, things were extremely slow, made worse by having to sit in a chilly dining room. We had four orders that came out at different times. Excellent! Nice big portions, terrific flavors, great service. This is the first Thai restaurant outside of Thailand that didn't ask us how many "spicy stars" we wanted. How would I know what four stars mean at one place and four stars at another? Or even from a different cook at the same restaurant? Instead, Top Thai provides a pot of chili powder and chili oil at your table so you can adjust your own level of heat. I love that. Best chicken pad thai I've had since Bangkok. You can see and taste the level of quality that is a reflection of the experience you get at their sister restaurant, Atlas Fare. Five stars for food. Two stars for the waiter (Henry) Five stars for the busser girl and the other wait staff. I eat here often. The food is always top notch! But there's one waiter that doesn't have a clue how to treat customers, is loud and tends to project his voice at such an annoying level that I can't tell if he's trying to get attention, or likes to hear himself talk. I get the feeing it's a little of both. He's decent at best. Sometimes he's attentive, other times I notice he ignores tables and people get visibly annoyed at the lack of attention. Over all, the food is one of the best in town. And is THE place for Thai food in my opinion. Tom Kah soup is amazingly delicious. The pad Thai is good, The Spicy is a eclectic mix of veggies, savory and sweet. I've eaten here so often I have a hard time deciding what to order because I know that no matter what I choose, it's going to be delicious! The GF and veggie options are bountiful. Greeted promptly, sat immediately and the staff is knowledgeable in the menu and what is gluten free and how to make substitutions. Restaurant is clean and has a romantic soft lighting style. Order the Chicken Satay appetizer and the Param. Both were new experiences for me. The peanut sauce served with both dishes is savory and sweet with a hint of heat. Wait time for a table during dinner wasn't horrible , although the wait time for the food was a bit of a disappointment. Total wait time was around 45 or more. I ordered the Yellow Curry fried rice with a level spicy of 4 and it was not bad. I would like to try it again with a level of 2 or 3 simply because I felt that flavor gets lost with so much spice. I was searching for an Asian restaurant with a full bar and this is was came up. The booths are a bit worn and it's an older restaurant. My server was friendly and helpful. I ordered the fresh rolls that came with a hoisin sauce, a stir fry with garlic and white pepper on chicken and broccoli, and finished with a mango and coconut sticky rice. The rolls really were effervescent full of crispy vegetables and the tasty dip. The chicken stir fry was different than what I expected but after eating it I enjoyed it more and more. My highlight was the dessert. The fresh mangoes were ripe, sweet, and the flesh was easy to scoop up with the sticky rice that included coconut cream and toasted coconut. We waited for 10 minutes for the ONE server who was also the busser and the host to seat us ... 1 star. We sat for 10 minutes while he bussed tables ... not serving others or seating folks (it was full) ... 1 star. He NEVER came back to our table for 10 mins - no water - no menus - ... we could hear him complaining the whole time "Saturday lunches are usually really slow ... not sure what's happening, Nobody else is here except the cooks ... In Wenatchee, there are only two options to get Thai food currently. It's either you go to the Thai Restaurant or Thongbai Thai Restaurant. Although Thongbai Thai Restaurant has higher rated reviews on Yelp, I do think that The Thai Restaurant is better overall for quality of food. I went on a Thursday evening and there was basically a full parking lot out. Sometimes I measure a restaurant's popularity based on how many people are there for a meal. And it was popping here. But, that also means that you'll sometimes get slower service. I would say that we definitely waited a decent amount of time for our appetizers and our entrees. But, I had time to kill and it was fine for my group. We were getting a little hungry though. We came in at about 6:30 PM and left at about 8:45 PM. This include time for: appetizers, entrees, and desserts. For an appetizer, I had the Tom Kah soup. This is a Thai coconut milk soup mixed with hot and sour flavors with lemongrass and galangal root. I also added chicken as my protein. The combination of hot and sour with coconut milk is kind of interesting. It's sweet with coconut flavoring and some hotness. If you are not a fan of coconut, stay away! But, otherwise, it is a decent soup. For my entree, I had Pad Thai with peanuts and lime on the side. It's made with tangy tamarind sauce, egg, bean sprouts, and scallions. For my protein, I choose chicken. It was a pretty typical Pad Thai. Came out piping hot. Fairly tasty with the added lime and peanuts toppings. It wasn't the best Pad Thai I've ever had, but I certainly thought it was better than the Pad Thai at ThongBai. My boyfriend had ordered that Cashew Nut dish and it was really good. The sauce for the dish was tasty. The crunchy texture added by the cashew and water chestnuts was awesome in my opinion. But, I love both of those things so I'm a little biased. Lastly, we had the coconut Creme Brulee for dessert. This dish was decent, but it was quite sweet. Especially towards the end. It had a nice caramelized hard shell at the top. But, it was not the same temperature throughout the custard. I've read different things about the serving temperature of Creme Brulee and everyone has their two cents on it. Just be aware of this if you are looking for a solid and consistent temperature throughout the custard. read more

I'm so glad that we found this gem in Wenatchee for dinner. It's Wenatchee's Thai food at its best. We were lucky to get in with a Covid Phase 1.5 25% occupancy for dine in seating. We called in the day before to get a table. Make your reservations! The staff was consistently busy taking orders to go on the phone while we were dining. The staff was busy, friendly and knowledgeable. We enjoyed the fresh spring rolls which was a good starter after a sunny river side walk. The Som Tum green papaya salad was a nice punch of spice and freshness. It cleansed the palette for the main dishes. One must try the Pad Thai as a gauge for authenticity. The family restaurant did not disappoint. I tried one of their Classics on their menu-The Param with chicken. OrderedPad Thai chicken wings, Tom Kah soup and green curry. Each item served we couldn't eat. They were overly sweet/bland and the pad Thai wings were fried to a point of being inedible. We let our server know and we were going to pay the bill, but they did pick up the check and we left her a tip. We had a great server. Food was ok. My moms pad Thai was not all that great. She actually barely ate any of it. Very acidic. I ate mine had pad see ew it was good. I added my own spice so I'm not sure how well their spice is when cooked in. My daughter teriyaki was terrible. Very bland. I've eaten here before and never experienced this blandness we got. The Sweetest Thai I've ever had. Their dishes are lacking traditional Thai spices which appear to have been replaced with sugar. If you're the type of person that is on the sugar train looking for your next fix and you don't really like the traditional Thai ingredients then you will love this place. The chicken pad Thai had no been sprouts or lime. The Thom Kha Soup lacked any of the traditional ingredients but instead tasted like it was comprised of sugar a little coconut water and some mushrooms and chicken thrown in. I've been to a lot of Thai places and this was easily my least favorite. I was really looking forward to going to Thai as I haven't been in a while.
