We ordered two iced drinks from the seasonal menu. Then we were given a number to sit where we wanted and we opted for the cough area by the stairs. If you prefer your coffee strong, you'll like the Mont Blanc Mindthief, consisting of cold brew, housemade black sugar, cream top, nutmeg, and orange zest. For $8 it's a bit on the pricey side given that it's 10oz and there was a giant ice cube but expected since it's a seasonal drink. The Holiday Spellweaver was matcha with housemade cranberry strawberry puree and milk. I was pleasantly surprised because I could definitely taste the cranberry and I like that it's a unique holiday spin on the typical strawberry matcha drinks that have gained popularity over the years. This drink was $7.50 which is about the going rate for strawberry matcha these days. While sipping our drinks, we played some of the free games available. What a wonderful place to meet up with friends! I recently was briefly in CA for some family business, and happened to stop by this cafe with a friend to hang out for awhile. We played a few games and had some drinks and food. I was completely satisfied with my experience here, and delighted to discover this cafe. They have a lovely bright interior with plenty of tables to spread out your games, and a wonderful "order at the table" app option which is fabulous for refreshing drinks or ordering a snack in the midst of a game without leaving your table. They have a variety of boardgames to play, and some "free" games too if you want to drop in but paying for time is out of your food budget. I also really liked the variety of the menu, because they had not only entrees but more snack like items as well so if you wanted to get something light that is an option. I ended up getting a bowl of fruit and a few drinks and was really happy. The music is a bit loud, and they played rock music which was a bit odd, to me. I would have preferred some kpop or a variety channel than the rock music they were playing. For the future, to be honest, I think an e-juke box type thing would be amazing. Let people pick the music. That is probably one thing I would improve on this great place, and maybe some more bakery goods than what was offered. Overall, you won't be disappointed going here tho. Plucky's is a wonderful addition to the neighborhood! It's low key but serves up an astounding menu and is a place that you can just sit and chill for several hours while you play some games. There is a fee to play the games but that's probably to keep you honest and ensure that heathens don't completely destroy them. I really enjoyed the butterscotch latte I ordered yesterday. What a cool place to hangout...it's big space, tables are big enough for groups for your game night gatherings or if you just want to sit and chat, there's room for that too. You can play the games provided for a fee--set time--$7 for 2 hours as of this writing. Can be a nice work space, but there is a time limit, 1 hour and only during certain hours can use the laptop. Don't even think about using your laptop or tablet here in the evenings or weekends--it is not permitted. Plucky's is a place for socializing & they call themselves a board game cafe. I ordered an affogato and a slice of almond cake from the QR code menu at the table. It came quickly. I enjoyed both the affogato and almond cake slice. It's a nice addition to the neighborhood. 2 stars - for the laptop policy. My $7 Matcha was actually pretty good and the food looked amazing which is why I gave 2 stars. It was my first time and I do wish a disclaimer was posted on the front or somewhere apparent before I bought my drink and sat down to find the little reminder of me having 1 hour to work on my laptop and to enjoy the space. After my time was up, I proceeded to ask if I had to leave if I didn't use my laptop because I needed to read and they said they would give me 30 more min because of the limited space. Please see picture for the people- packed cafe. I didn't finish my drink because my time was up. And wasn't able to chill there for much longer. Kind of disappointed I spent that much and didn't get at least 2 hours at a cafe. Should be a restaurant in this case. The cafe is actually really cool especially if you like games. I appreciate the laptop policy and taking time to relax on the weekends - that makes sense, but during the weekdays and when it's empty I don't feel like this is justified. Plucky's Cafe is the game-changer Burlingame needed! I love how it's a cafe that has not only great food, but also a TON of board games. The aesthetics here are immaculate. From the tables to the chairs to the beautiful decor, I couldn't get enough of this place! The employees are super welcoming. I got to speak to one of them, and she told me that they've only been open for 3 months! But the way they're running things seems like it's been longer! Came here with my friends. I ordered the Tokyo Matcha with pandan. Being someone from SE Asia of Peranakan heritage, I love all things pandan flavor. It is hard to get them here in the US. New café on Broadway in Burlingame was a great delight to visit! I love the good amount of drinks, both standard and more innovative, as well as the variety of breakfast, brunch, or lunch options available on their menu. It was not crowded at all on a Monday mid morning with plenty of seats available indoors. Staff was super friendly, welcoming and nice. I tried the Tokyo fog Matcha drink with pandan syrup. The drink itself was a 3/5. I was quite impressed that the pandan flavor really came through however, I missed the entire taste of matcha. I was so excited to finally try this place, so I stopped in during Flavors of the Peninsula. They had a special going where you could pick a drink and sandwich off their prix fixe menu (plot twist - it cost the same as just ordering the items off the menu so not really a "special"). I got the Tokyo Fog (matcha) and the caprese sandwich. Honestly, quite disappointing. The matcha was very bitter and didn't have any flavor, while the sandwich was extremely small for the price and lacked seasoning. By the end of the meal, I felt like I could have gotten a matcha and caprese sandwich over at Starbucks and would have been more satisfied. Everyone I interacted with who worked there were polite, but seemed like they would rather be anywhere else. The positives were the gameplay and the atmosphere, but I don't know that it's enough to convince me to go back. read more

The kids were bored and looking for something to do, so I suggested that we check out Plucky's. I remember reading about this place opening, but never got around to going. When we arrived, I was surprised how full the place the was! Practically every table was taken, which is a good sign. Fortunately, there was one large table right by the games, so we were able to share it with another family. This place offers a ton of games, many of which I've never even heard of! After ordering three beverages (a soju based cocktail with guava and lychee for me and two nonalcoholic drinks for the kiddos), we proceeded to play Dixit for an hour for $15. The way it works is you pay $5 pp/hr to play a game while kids under 12 are half off. The kids got hungry, so they ordered avocado toast and a grilled cheese chicken sando. I was impressed how good the food was! You can tell they use fresh, quality ingredients and they were all beautifully presented. Not wanting to pay another $15 to play another game, we then played a free game for an hour before deciding to leave. Fortunately, they have a shelf full of free games as well. My only gripe is if you're paying for food and beverages (which I spent over $60 including tax and tip), then playing a game should be free or at least discounted. Just my two cents! read more

Came here again with friends on a Friday night, and I didn't realize they sell alcohol on Friday and Saturday nights! I didn't order any, but I did see that they have new specials and desserts. The creme brûlée cheesecake was delicious and tasted like if you mashed quality vanilla ice cream with cheesecake. Pretty sweet, but nonetheless good. The croissant biscuit was so cute, and I have no idea how they combined a croissant with slightly laminated layers with the inner texture of a biscuit. It was essentially a pretty cute peanut butter and jelly sandwich and would be great for kids. Plucky's also sells some board games from their library! Then we stayed a couple more hours playing games. We returned this morning for breakfast at Plucky's. I had an awesome omelette. My wife grabbed a couple of protein balls for our hike in the Marin Headlands. I chatted with the chef to get tips on the grilling sourdough bread that comes with most meals at Plucky's.
