I had a fantastic experience! The crews showed up early every day and stayed until the job was done. They were incredibly courteous from start to finish. You can tell they take pride in their work--every detail was handled carefully and professionally. They color matched to the color of our house. Holy cow, they did it! I signed the contract with Plug It In on 10/1 through Solar.com, and Plug It In said they could complete the job before the 12/31 deadline for the tax credit. They got everything done, including installation in one day, and I was able to pass inspection and get PTO before 12/31. The process and communication wasn't perfect, but that's to be expected when everybody is scrambling to beat the deadline. When I first went shopping for solar panels, I got proposals from three other companies before getting a pitch from PII Solar. The original three spoke in generalities and tried to impress me with "savings". Most aggressive was SUNRUN. The salesman actually very confidently spoke to say that he was "going to be" my solar supplier...as if I did not have a choice somehow. Then when Sunrun told me that my roof could only "handle" about 10 panels (which would not meet my electricity needs), I said I was not interested...but they absolutely routinely continued to beg for me to sign up with them about once a week with very persistent "don't you want to..." texting and voice mails. Even after I acted to block a Sun Run number, they popped up anyway using a different number for some time. This was very annoying...and is very much the reason I can so readily summon up the name SUN RUN among the three early companies I considered for solar. So I was fairly much resolved to give up on solar by the time I heard from Leeron Dagan at PII Solar. Then I learned so much in a couple of conversations with Leeron that my interest reawakened. Fast forward to the present where I have now a mature set of 21 panels on my roof, at a good price, which are yielding a PHENOMENAL energy output! From the education by Leeron, it became evident that the other would-be suppliers had each been offering me a cookie cutter approach to solar panels. The goal with these guys is to get in and out fast, put in minimal effort, and get your money. Not one of the three even mentioned importance of inverter type to success. (Consumers are poorly served by common string-inverter installations...but if you don't even know about micro-inverter vs string, you are at their mercy...and they will give you the cheaper variety.) By contrast, Leeron educated me on the superiority of the micro-inverter, and he explained how through custom work he could overcome the obstacles on my roof, doubling the capacity cited by Sun Run and others. Once I signed on with PII Solar, there turned out to be issues with a substandard meter upgrade I'd hired a garden variety electrician to do. Leeron calmly advised me on what steps would be needed to remedy the deficiencies--and even directly communicated with my poorly chosen electrician guy to guide him in bringing the work up to standard. Throughout the process, Leeron impressed me repeatedly with his professionalism, vast knowledge and his genuine concern to have quality in the end product. He knows his business very well, explains thoroughly, and delivers everything he promises. More details and clarity about the process and the timelines could ideally have been more frequent, although we do understand that we were among many people panicking to have everything done by the end of 2025 (to get the energy efficient tax credit that was terminated by the cruel orange child-raping rage-bait nazi man-baby grifter narcissist-in-chief). Nonetheless, the solar work (and as a prerequisite to it, a complete re-roofing, which Plug-It-In Solar also took care of with subcontractors) was completed expertly and by our deadline by wonderful installers, all of whom were incredibly gracious and went out of their way (and even often worked late) to do a terrific job. Completing the work before the end of 2025 was nail-biting, but they accomplished it as predicted, and we are EXTREMELY happy with the resulting new roof and the super-sweet solar setup. We STRONGLY recommend going through the power company (as we ultimately did) because they offer you a choice of the three best bids from reputable companies, rather than risk being scammed by third party solar companies directly. Shane came out today and checked out my solar panel system install after the huge winds we had because I found a clip on the ground from one of our panels. It turned out to be just a left over clip from the original install that blew off the roof. First I would be leery of any company on solar that has a lot of reviews and they're all or mostly 5-star. No company is without problematic cases, and apparently I'm going to be the first for this one. What a shame, because this was easily rectifiable...I gave them more chances than they deserved. I first contacted them on June 3, 2020 for an estimate, that's 79 days ago from the time I'm writing this review. Because we've been screwed so many times by bad and incompetent contractors, I choose to get everything in writing, so I do all my correspondence with a company by email. Until now, I've never had a problem with a company complying with that. If a company really wants the business, they should do what it takes to secure a customer. If that means taking the time to type out and answer all of the customer's questions, that's what they should do....not whimper about having to spend the time. 8 days after asking for the estimate, Aurora Parssinen, head of operations, still had not replied, so I wrote again (my 3rd contact). She then asks me for a copy of my utility bill, something she should have asked for the week prior when I first wrote in. Sending in the utility bill is commonplace. I sent the bill (contact #4). Over a week later, still no response so I touch base (contact #5). No response from Aurora for another six days after that. She finally sends me an estimate, but it's solely based on my utility bill and looking at my roof from a satellite image online. They did NOT come out and look at my roof or measure it. I write back with 4 questions. (contact #6) She does answer them the next day, but I'm concerned that they haven't actually looked at the roof (and it is an odd roof as our house has had many additions). I suggest they come out and look at the roof (contact #7). No word back for 10 days and then I FINALLY hear from a Lauren M. Christy, production manager who says they can send someone the next day. I write back to confirm (contact #8). 2 days later they send the revised estimate, which isn't all that different than the first one. What's concerning about this, is this estimate still doesn't reflect the questions I brought up to them previously, or options that other solar companies have said they can do. There are areas of the roof that space-wise could accommodate more solar panels that they're not utilizing. So I write back with more questions. Now most people would be appreciative that a customer takes the time to write out the questions so that they don't have to formulate answers on the spot, and can take a reasonable amount of time to consider them and reply. Not PlugItIn Solar...keep reading. I hear nothing back for 2 weeks, so I write in again to find out what's going on (contact #9). 3 more days later, I get an email from Leeron (Lee) Dagan, Director of Sales and Operations. He does take the time to answer my questions briefly, and ends the email with "Let me know if you have any more questions." Well, I do! I also feel he hasn't accurately responded to my questions about "reverse tilt" panels, so I send a bunch of photos to illustrate what I mean. It took me a while to find all the photos and write it out, but I wanted to make sure he understood what I was getting at. Then, no reply for nearly a month. So I write in again (contact #10), wondering why I'm even giving this company so many chances to get this job. Lee writes back within an hour with "Sorry, it's been absolutely nuts its [sic] been hard for me to get back by email. When would be a good time to jump on a call and discuss?" So, here it comes. The used-car-salesman phone call to discuss, which really means he wants to tell me I have no idea what I'm talking about and it can't be done the way I want it...he has no intention of taking the time to research what I'm trying to accomplish, so he just wants to talk to me on the phone so there's nothing in writing that he's actually just complaining about having to do his job. I write back and tell him I need to do it in writing (contact #11). He writes back with: "there are too many variables and details over email to discuss." So he can say them, but he can't type them. "I don't have that kind of time working from home with a newborn." Ah....so I'm paying the price for him procreating. Potential customers, know that you come AFTER his childcare needs. "I get 40 emails just from 6:30 am to 12 pm that I have to respond to by 12 pm everyday [sic]." Cue the violins. He expects me to believe that he gets emails at 12 pm that have to be responded to by 12 pm, and yet he didn't respond to mine in a MONTH! Mmhmm....sounds like a load of malarky to me! So, I write back and say "OK, forget it then. If I'm not worth the time and effort, I'll go with another company, and write this up in my Yelp review." (Contact #12) More in attached photos. Worst service ever!! Never have I wrote anything on social media but I have spent over$60,000 between solar and enphase batteries(another story about that company) stick to Tesla but they push enphase. Over 2 months I have a upgrade fail on 1 of my batteries, called the installer PLUG IT IN and even Enphase, but making payments which is too have warranty and I'm just getting blown off. I reached out to Goodleap due to me making payments that I'm making for a damn expensive product they convinced me to buy, Now my last resort is too sue. I would like to clarify that I did not purchase there product and they are a dealer of SunPower. I just like to ensure that folks do their due diligence. This company was extremely high in comparison to the pricing and once I question there products in terms of lease or purchase the individual was not as pleasant and customer service was not good at all. I had to call him to send me the proposal which he did but at time definitely did not want get into a big purchase with such company. We just received our DWP bill with our full solar credit and our electric part of the bill came to $4.60...that's right $4.60. Such a relief from our solar credit and not giving our hard earn money away to DWP. Lee and Plug it in Solar team were great from start to finish and work was completed in time. Why can't every company be as honest as Plug It In Solar? Our solar system was installed in 2005 by a different company and recently stopped working. Lee arrived promptly at our house, inspected the unit, then gave us an honest report. He explained to us that all we needed to do was simply replace one of the blown fuses, and that the solar system would start working again. Lee could have easily told us that we needed to replace our 14-year old system and charge us for a brand new installation, but instead, we only had to buy a $7 fuse from Amazon, and that was it. We had already been thinking about getting solar for our house, but when we LADWP wrongly overcharged us for a few months and we caught them lying about how they got those numbers, we decided it was long past the time to finally go out and get solar. A co-worker had just used Plug It In Solar and had all good things to say about them, so we had them come out to look at our house for information and an estimate. Lee, the project manager, was very professional, informative, friendly, and knowledgable. He was able to answer all of our questions thoroughly and made it an easy decision to go with them for our solar installation. Lee was very proactive in keeping us informed throughout the entire installation process. We also had them upgrade our electrical panel, and all of the work was done quickly and efficiently. The city inspector ended up dinging a couple of things before he would sign off on the work, but Lee had the proper authorizations and okays from the required city departments within days, and another inspection was promptly set up and passed. Every employee we dealt with was pleasant and professional, and even when they accidentally cracked some drywall in our house, they had it patched up and looking like new immediately. They were great and I just go my first full bill from ladwp. $232.00 for two months. And of that electric was a tiny $77.00 for two months. A neighbor ( same sized house) bill was $859.00 and her electric was $503.00. Our rates are based on every two months so basically my electric was about $34.00. This is in line with Lee's estimates. My solar panel review was long overdue, but worth the wait, everyone! Now I can review Plug it In Solar as a "whole". They are not just an awesome solar company, but also an "all-in-one" electrical service! I can speak from complete and total trust, because I waited to review them until I felt I was happy with several months of solar energy efficiency and I had "tested out" their electrical work. So now it's been a year and a half since I first made contact with them and it's been (and still is) one of the happiest experiences in "hiring contractors" I have had in 5 years of owning my home. Where to start? I am still pinching myself for being home the day they did a door-to-door campaign. I never usually answer to solicitors, but something told me to, this time and I found the rep so polite and no pressure, that I figured it wouldn't hurt to get a solar quote. I had gotten a few others and was about to re-do my roof, so perfect timing! Lee, the Manager/Director (and factotum) is by far one of the most personable, knowledgeable, easy to work with and brilliant contractors I have ever employed. He has a calm, rational and OPEN MINDED approach to every aspect of the job. When I panic/question/dig deeper he calmly goes through every step of the process, slowly and clearly, until I have fully understood it. You can tell he has a true passion for what he does. Even though the solar portion of the company is "relatively" new, it is part of a family run electrical company with many years of experience, so I felt that while going for the solar, I was going to be taken care of by people who had a deep understanding of HOW the whole system works, down to the last outlet inside the home. And so many of my friends who hired other solar companies found themselves "abandoned" when they went bankrupt. But here Plug it in is resting on the strong foundation of the original electrical company, so that really gives me peace of mind. Every single thing Lee promised came true: from the initial solar quote and projected tax rebate, to the panels efficiency and the financing. He is on top of it 100% and when you get into a conversation with him you discover how passionate he is about keeping himself current on the whole energy-efficiency thing. He always surprises me with his sharp problem-solving. If faced with an unexpected issue or challenge, he pauses, thinks about it and calmly comes up with new perfectly valid options. Not only that, but he is extremely patient, never loses his temper, just to give you an example, regarding today's job: he sat with me one entire morning, going over the best, most efficient items for me to order online for them to install, allowing me to go back and forth, ask questions and arrive at the best solutions. Lee, Ricardo and Antonio were here today working incessantly from 8am to 4pm on Black Friday, to accommodate my busy schedule on the only weekday I had off. Now I have a bunch of new lights, new efficient bulbs and even wifi operated switches, ALL of them already consuming a fraction of a fraction of what would be the normal cost, since I am making my own power with the panels AND I feel better about my impact on the environment.
