We were seated quickly, and our server, Layla, was consistently attentive, friendly, and answered all of our questions with ease. The menu was extensive, offering something for every taste, and the prices were surprisingly reasonable, honestly, they could charge more and still be worth it. While the diner's aesthetics were a bit dated, it didn't take away from the experience or the quality of our meal. To top it off, they served my favorite ginger ale, Canada Dry! The food is great. The ambience is great for what it is. The service is great, but we had a lot of snow recently and they had the whole parking lot shoveled and salted but not the handicap ramp. My special-needs sister has a walk issue and a balance issue and she slides easily on ice and snow, because of her gait. I asked why the handicap ramp was not shoveled, but the whole parking lot was and I was told that either broke down or they ran out of salt and then said sorry. They still didn't put salt out. I think every restaurant that can't for some reason shovel they need to put salt out, especially on a handicap ramps. We were in the restaurant for over an hour and still nobody made an attempt to salt the ramp. My sister doesn't do curbs well she doesn't do steps well and we had to find a place where she could sit down without her feet sliding out from underneath her.. read more

Had a great breakfast at Plum Crazy!! Recently ate there for the first time. Cute atmosphere. Good value. We ordered eggs, bacon, scrapple, Blintzes, pancakes, homefries, and tea and coffee. We have a family tradition every December that includes breakfast and cutting down our Christmas tree. This year we found a tree farm in Westminster so we checked Yelp for breakfast recommendations and found Plum Crazy Diner. Surprisingly, we were seated right away on a Sunday morning at peak hours. Our service was great and the coffee was hot and unlimited. The creamed chipped beef wasn't my momma's chipped beef, but was pretty tasty and disappeared quite quickly from my plate. I like trying local establishments when traveling. Plum Crazy was recommended by a cop I met. When at a diner, I like to compare the same meal so I'm comparing apples to apples, or patty melts in this case. I asked the waitress which she'd order between the patty melt and the French dip. Glad she didn't say the French dip, because I couldn't have handled worse. The burger was flavorless, the fries were luke warm and soggy. The service wasn't awful, but my drink did sit empty for quite a while before I could get a refill. As others gave mentioned, many of the seats were ripped and needed repair. The ambiance was lost amongst boring fare. Sorry folks, I won't be back. read more

We came in for breakfast on MLK Day. I walk in and wait at the hostess station to be seated, as the sign instructs. A woman (employee) comes to the table. She looks at me, looks down and simply walks away. She returns, looks at me and reaches under the counter for something, comes up (with nothing) and walks away. Other patrons enter and they are of a "lighter hue" (I am the ONLY person of color I can see). NOW the same employee looks at me and says "just you two?"! My amazing wife smiles and simply answers yes. The employee walks towards the seating area and I reluctantly follow. She didn't say come with me, follow me or anything. We get the the table where someone is cleaning the table. The "hostess" puts the silverware on the table, says something to the person cleaning the table and leaves. The person cleaning the table also leaves. A waitress comes by, puts a salt shaker on the table and walks away. No hi, bye, I'll be right back, don't eat here...NO WORDS!! Uhh, if you don't serve people that look like me, simply say so. I left this place without one person saying a single thing to me about anything. Got Cheeseburger and Fries... very, very bland. I've never been to a restaurant with plastic menus and didn't have someone wiping the menus down. I was attracted to try this place by the look of the building, I'm from Dc and you don't see that often. We were seated by the host and met our server, coffee was mildly weak the food came out and it was cold my French toast was flavorless the bacon was hard the egg was cold the potato's were undercooked and cold, the server checked up on everyone but us dispute being one of the few tables there at the time. She only came and dropped off the check after ghosting us. Whole experience felt rushed and I would have liked to tell her I was unhappy with my meal. The classic diner caught our eye as we drove by. After driving for several hours it was time for a break so we got off the highway and circled back. We ordered chocolate malted milkshakes -- something you don't see on menus all that often these days. They were mixed with a Hamilton style blender and served in traditionally shaped "milkshake glasses," but because the glasses were plastic a lot of old time authenticity was lacking. The flavor, however, was spot on -- very chocolaty and malty. Though we didn't order anything to eat I enjoyed looking over the menu. Really disappointed with the lack of professionalism and common decency by the very young lady working at the hostess station. Just like everyone else we are struggling after the storm and we went to go eat and arrived at around 7:40 and we were promptly greeted with, you know we close in 10 minutes? I said if you close at 8 we have nearly 20 minutes until you close. She hemmed and hulled and finally said well I guess you can eat if you want and rolled her eyes at us. I said no thank you and left. The lack of decency and the blatant laziness of the greeter was astounding. We won't be back. read more

Despite it being fairly busy, the server was very friendly and spent time making sure that we were happy. She even split the bill and took our payment at the end of the meal. Usually at diners, you have to go to the register with the check. The server taking it for you is a nice touch. The decor here is very old school diner. There is plenty of room though. The omelette had plenty of filling. They even offered different kinds of cheese, provolone, cheddar or American. I chose cheddar. They used plenty of that cheese as well. The omelette and sausage patties were hot. The coffee was typical diner coffee which is what you would expect. I am a little picky with coffee and grind my own beans at home. Came here for lunch on a Monday early afternoon. Seated right away and our server was very friendly and greeted us not long after we were seated. Our drinks and food came out quickly. Everything was delicious! I ordered a grilled cheese and fries, my kids ordered pancakes, a hot dog, and a burger (between the three of them). We all enjoyed our meals. People, do not waste your time going to this place. The service is terrible. The place is run by teenagers. We sat for 10 minutes waiting for someone to approach us. People that came after us, were approached first and served food way before we did. The "head" waitress was fighting with the other two waitresses about some gas money for a gig later that evening. Meanwhile, people are waiting for drinks to be brought to their tables, checks, not to mention food. What a shame. This was a smaller than average diner with pretty good food. The menu is not as large as a typical diner but the prices are good. I had the chick-o-philly steak sandwich and my husband had the plum crazy breakfast. Both were good. We saw ice cream being served but was not listed on the menu. As far as breakfast goes, seems Westminster suffers the same fate as sykesville and eldersburg . The art of breakfast and short order cooking has been lost. Crispy home fries, forget about it with perfectly square cut frozen potatoes out of a bag. Toast cooked well, looked like it just came out of the bag and was only warmed by the plate it was served on. Chipped beef on biscuit, you could count the beef on one hand and two fingers. Soft scrambled eggs, no way. Just an omelet egg folded. Sent that back. We did have a grilled cheese with tomato that was good and cooked correctly. I've been a Plum Crazy regular for four years. The wait staff has always been professional and courteous, which is why I would always leave at least a 33% tip. My last two visits were not so good. We ate lunch here on a cold Saturday afternoon after a recommendation from several locals. It was conveniently located not far from where we were headed on a stretch of highway with several chain restaurant dining options. Pulling up to the full lot we were immediately taken back in time. The stainless steel exterior and 1950's details definitely lure you in. Before we stepped foot inside the door a local stopped us, to tell us this was his first visit as well, and engaged in friendly conversation. He was impressed and apparently willing to share his story. Inside the place was as expected from the outside. Vintage, authentic and charming. I loved the plum interior and the pretty pressed tin ceiling. It was clean and much larger inside than expected. The menu consisted of pretty typical diner fare; an assortment of sandwiches, soups, breakfast, a few dinner options. We read the reviews beforehand and knew not to order a burger. A casaer chicken sandwich caught my eye - just because I haven't seen that before - but ultimately I ended up with a chicken cheesesteak with grilled onions. The hubby had a huge breakfast - pancakes, eggs, and breakfast meats - the works. I also sampled the cheeseburger soup - basically cut up hamburger patty drowning in a thick cup of cheese wiz - and would NOT recommend it. I was craving a berry or cherry pie of some kind and much to my disappointment they didn't carry it. What diner doesn't serve blueberry or cherry pie? Our meals were average - nothing worth bragging about. The chips on the side were a tad stale. Hubby's pancakes had a grainy texture prompting us to inquire if they were made of cornmeal (they are not). Service was fast but she could have been friendlier. Our biggest pet peeve was as attentive as she was and as many times as she approached our table not once did she take unwanted dishes. Water/coffee refills were brought out in new cups, condiments on plates, and the dishes just continued to pile up. Awful experience. Customer service horrible. Very abrupt and the waitress was not friendly at all. Eggs came out cold with cheese. Asked for new eggs that were hot. Eggs that were brought back had the same knife marks that I had placed on them. Asked to speak to the manager Danielle. Very rude did not introduce herself. I responded with this eggs were placed in the microwave. She argued that they were not the waitress watched them make new eggs.
