I was in town visiting family and we had lunch here one day. We all always love the salad and soup bar. Lots of my favorite toppings, fresh veggies, good prepared salads, nice dressing options. I really like their ranch dressing. They always have several soup options. I had a vegetable beef soup which was very tasty. Lots of different veggies in it. They typically have a hot dish on the buffet too. That day it was spaghetti and meatballs. I did not have any but several family members enjoyed it. I always get chocolate pudding for dessert. This place has been here a long time. The place is clean and well maintained. I ordered the lunch special chop steak for like $11.00. Medium well, and comes with two sides. Sadly, it's a small hamburger sized patty you'd find on a bun with cheese. Probably a 1/4 patty before cooking. They should just called it a hot hamburger or something. The guy cooking burnt it to a crisp. I spoke to a guy behind the counter and he offered to make another but I was already halfway through lunch waiting on the one in front of me. He also offered a free dessert. Which I also declined. Please just cook it right ... they really weren't busy which probably could be a little understandable if they were busy. This joint was horrible. I am not exaggerating. We went their to celebrate my dad's birthday, which happened a few days after. The food wasn't anything special but the smell was horrid. It smells like a mix of cleaning products and fried food, which mixed together create one of the most disgusting things I have ever smelled. The people working seemed nice. I cannot count the number of times I have driven by Bullock's restaurant. Why had I never made time to enjoy a meal here. The premise has both dine in restaurant, take out and a meat market. On the afternoon my dining companion and I arrived, we found a salad bar for $9.99 with chicken drumsticks and several soups. We elected for the plated meals on this day. My dining companion ordered the two piece fried chicken meal with a roll and side item. My companion selected potato salad. The portion side is great. The fried chicken is awesome. Crispy skin and moist inside. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich which is served with fries and one side. I selected cole slaw. This meal was filling and I took home half the fries and cole slaw. The food quality is great. Lunch is definitely a great value for budget minded folks. Order at the counter. Wait for your number to be called and retrieve your meals on trays. It's sort of cafeteria style. We saw all sorts of diners at lunch, including families, couples, business folks, etc. I could tell this was a solid spot and had a following. A little Gen X flashback to Ponderosa. Order at the counter. They call your number when the food is ready. We got the fried chicken & shrimp special. It comes with a hot side and unlimited soup and salad bar. Fried chicken was lightly breaded and was good. Decent selection at the salad bar. Several folks in front of me just got the unlimited soup and salad for $9.95. Place is dated and I'm sure that updates are planned. The food is usually pretty good. It should be since they raised the prices when the ownership changed. We ordered carryout consisting of the 12 oz New York Strip steak with baked potato and onion rings. Also the Chicken Strips dinner with western fries. Added the salad bar and a couple desserts. And now, you can add on to your meal, too. $6.95 to add shrimp. I figured on at least 6 good size shrimp since they also offer 1/2 lb. of steamed shrimp for $12.99. Nope. 3 medium shrimp is what you get for $6.95. No butter or seasonings on them. Just 3 dried out, chewy shrimp. I even went back in the restaurant to double check that the shrimp order was correct. The manager? or owner? said 3 shrimp is what you get. Everything else was good. Buyer beware, though. We went there today because it's my birthday and they gave me a $5 birthday reward. It's the restaurant was on my way home and as I pulled into the parking lot, it was full, practically our first walked into this meat market and headed down to the restaurant, part everything look very clean and tidy, although Bullocks has been there for a long time and is very popular with locals I choose to have the soup and salad which also came with macaroni and cheese and barbecue chicken had a great variety of food. The salad bar had a great variety of ingredients for salad and other dishes like pasta salad, potato salad, coleslaw, beets, hard-boiled eggs, etc. The servers and cashiers were friendly and helpful. Decided to try something new tonight, so ended up here. The food was incredible. I picked the steak thinking with a butcher next door, it must be fresh. Man, it did not disappoint. The fried chicken was also delish - cooked in one of the best batters for fried foods that I've ever had. We also had a pitcher of red sangria, and at the risk of sounding redundant, it was also some of the best we've ever had. Don't like sangria? Don't worry... they have beer, wine, and other drinks too. Now... the salad bar. Let me just tell you... it did not disappoint. A salt of the earth type of place. Do not go in expecting the pretentiousness of a fine dining establishment. They do tasty and satisfying food in a no frills type setting. I plan to go back many times with the family for a relatively low cost night out. All of the food was cooked well and tasted fresh and delicious. The steak was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The fried chicken had a crunchy coating with succulent meat. The salad bar was fresh and had good options. The homemade dressings were fantastic. The price for most of the food was very reasonable. A 16 oz ribeye for less than 30 dollars? All you can eat fried chicken Tuesdays? We thought the salad bar was a little expensive, but there was a wide selection of non meat/fish items, and all were fresh and delicious. The Salad bar does have meat and fish add ons, but they must be purchased in addition. You can add chicken breast/shrimp/etc... We didn't confirm it, but the ice cream also seemed homemade. Very down-to-earth place. The kind of place you take the family out to on a Saturday afternoon. Much more than just a restaurant, it's a full service butcher shop with mini market and bakery. A very country-style place. They have a great salad bar with soup/entree (fried chicken) and an extensive menu. Worth the trip out to Carroll County. read more

Once you get past the decor, the food is actually decent - most of it. The portion sizes are plentiful. The cafeteria style setup prevents this from being a place i would ever recommend for a date - they call out order numbers loudly over the speakers. However, if you need a place to take five kids under the age of ten like I did, it was perfect. The salad bar is pretty full of win and it's worth seeing what's up there before ordering. Overall I'd describe this place as similar to what you'd see at a Golden Corral except it's cafeteria style and the food's a little better. read more

It has been 30 years since we were last here, but it will be the last. Your only option for salad is all-you-can-eat for $11.95. The salad bar is not even worth half that-ruby Tuesday has a huge salad bar and it is less! The bacon cheeseburger had American cheese, (gross), and they put what looked and tasted like a frozen patty, on a cold bun, with good lettuce but SWEET pickles! That was the only pickle they had, (double gross). I literally ate half of the burger without the bun, but that was all I could tolerate. There were about 10 broken potato chips on my tiny plate. Now we are leaving to go get some food. We will not be back. read more
