Went through reviews and liked what people said. I'm always a bit skeptical being a woman hiring for work like this but the reviews were great. My message to him was sent out to several companies which I didn't love but wanted to wait for Jacob's reply. He was straightforward on what he thought might be the issue and gave me a price- I did question the price only because snaking varies like crazy (and a bunch of other plumbing CO's messaged me). He asked to call just to tell me that yep- it does vary and the reasons you can get what you pay for. I've been burned by plumbing in the past so I agreed to have him over and he came in 25 min! After explaining the drain issue with my upper bath/shower and me snaking it myself with cheap snakes, he informed me I was snaking the wrong drain. Instructed me and guided me on how to clear my own drain! I cleared my drain! With his instruction and he didn't charge me!! I of course still paid 1/3 of the quote as it's only fair he came here and helped me where I think anyone else would have cleared it, charged the full amount and probably tried to sell me something I didn't need. Jacob is a really good human, an honest human and in this day/age that's hard to find. I will definitely use him for anything in the future including remodel or anything bath/pipe/kitchen related; he is kind, super knowledgeable and generally wants people to be happy with his work. Reached out to Jacob to get help with my shower and a toilet - was quick to respond and schedule a time to take a look and provide an assessment for free. While another plumber was unable to get the issue with my shower resolved, Jacob got the job done and without having to go the route of a more expensive repair. I went with his suggestion for a replacement toilet for the one that was constantly hissing and dripping despite replacing internals. Out with the old and in with the new in no time. I'm revising my review to 3 stars. The work itself was completed well, and I was very happy with the quality of the job and the communication. However, after the job was finished, I requested a paid receipt so my client could reimburse me. Jacob initially said that there would be no problem, but after several polite texts and calls explaining why I needed it, I never received a response or the receipt. I'm not sure what happened, but the lack of follow-through after the job was completed was disappointing, especially since everything else about the work was handled well. read more

Jacob didn't end up doing any paid work on our house, but he gave us some sage advice that could apply to other areas in your home. "If it isn't broken don't fix it". We called Jacob to get a second opinion, and he basically saved us a lot of money by recommending against the work that another company tried to sell us. He did have some recommendation items that would improve the quality of our plumbing, but he wasn't pushy about it. We are having a relay of our tile roof. On the facia on the west side of the house was an old satellite dish that has not been in use for years. When they removed it as it fell to the ground it grazed a facet and bent the pipe. Fortunately, the pipe was just bent and did not leak. The contractor ALR Remodeling and the project manager John Charlson were great. John took pictures and contacted his plumber Jacob Ramirez. Jacob came to the house, shut off the water for less than 30 minutes and made the repair. The faucet is now better than ever. Jacob takes great pride in his work. Called Jacob to replace a shower handle valve that was leaking. He was quick to answer the call and set up an appointment the next day. He was able to talk me through the job on the phone but after seeing in person quickly understood what needed to change and went out to get parts that he needed. Unfortunately we had to order one part so he started the job and returned the next day to finish after our part was delivered. We called Jacob for a service call to repair or replace a water value, that wasn't working. Upon inspection, Jacob realized, the replacement of value wasn't necessarily going to fix the issue and in fact, we had a much larger issue. One that would take much more time and a complex fix. He advised us on an easier and immediate remedy as an option, which truly saved the day. We will definitely be using him and be recommending him for all future plumbing work in the future. This was my first time using Plumbing by Jacob and I am very satisfied by the results. I needed a drain pipe assembly replaced on a vanity for a bathroom in a rental unit. As such, my concern was getting it fixed in the least amount of time, with the least amount of disruption and inconvenience for the tenant, and not being overcharged. When I first called to see if they were interested in the job, Jacob answered the phone. I explained the problem and he explained the cost structure (X$/hr + materials) which sounded agreeable and he could do it the next day, as it was almost 5:00 when I called. We made an appointment and he agreed to message me when he was heading out for the appointment. The next day he texted 15 minutes before the appointment. I met him at the apartment, on time and ready to start. I appreciate the promptness and the fact that he came with the parts he needed. Jacob came out to look at a couple issues with our bathtub. He quoted a few different options but ultimately recommended a DIY solution and gave us some advice about how to carry it out. Have paid him $0 so far and the issue is mostly resolved already. I've been frustrated in the past with plumbers charging $150 or more to show up at all and then saying there's nothing they can do once they get here. We had a leak from our upstairs unit into our laundry room downstairs and were in need of a plumber to figure out the issue as soon as possible. We were very thankful that Jacob was available immediately to look at the issue, charging an hourly rate. He visually checked the upstairs unit but couldn't detect any leakage, so he moved on to rip out the drywall ceiling to check the plumbing in the ceiling. Since the plumbing there seemed fine as well he suggested the water must be leaking from one of the water lines running up the walls. My wife suggested it could be the dishwasher and carried on to remove it, and that was found to be the issue. The appliance, though turned off, was faulty and had water leaking from its bottom. We asked Jacob to disconnect the water line and temporarily shut it off, until a replacement unit was purchased. Jacob made us believe that since the house's plumbing is old, there was no straightforward way of shutting the water to the dishwasher and exchanging it with a new unit was the best way of stopping the leaking. When he left he told us to reach out once we were able to acquire a replacement appliance. He offered to install it at a 50% discount, which made us realize that most of the good reviews on this page might be due to polite customer service and in exchange for discounted rates. After an entire night of more dripping and soaking of the upstairs flooring, ceiling beams, joists, and connected walls we reached out to a family friend to install the new dishwasher. We were very disheartened by Jacob's services rendered. The family friend showed us that the water inlet to the dishwasher could've been shut off by turning off the hot water to the sink by the dishwasher. Had Jacob done this simple step, we wouldn't have had 15 additional hours of water running down our laundry room ceiling. I messaged him after mentioning our experience, but was ignored and he never reached out again. Considering my wife thought of the dishwasher as the cause before Jacob did, and considering he left with no temporary fix causing us a lot more headache and a sleepless night, and considering he stopped communication after we voiced our disappointment, I would definitely not recommend Jacob's services. read more

My problem is that he tried to double the bill to $300.00 for a job that took him 30 minutes from when he stepped out of his truck to when he left.
