I think that is what sets Plumbing by Jacob apart from the others - the guy has his name to the business and basically his entire company built by himself - he's not gonna let just any tech work for him and potentially screw it up. Shane also came out with Jacob and I honestly trusted both of them. I got a dozen quotes and Jacob was def in the more affordable end unlike some BIG companies around that hire out dozens of techs and their prices reflect that . Very nice guy that showed up on time and did good work except for dripping sink sludge on hall carpet. My problem is that he tried to double the bill to $300.00 for a job that took him 30 minutes from when he stepped out of his truck to when he left. As a contractor I told him "no way" and he accepted his original quote. Get the price set in stone before he starts. This was over two years ago. I don't often write reviews, but I felt that this deserved one. I made a service call to Jacob Plumbing on 11/20/23 and he scheduled to come out the next day. Jacob was going to look at a water pressure issue and a clogged toilet drain. He walked me through exactly what he was planning to do before he performed the work. Jacob specifically came out to hydro jet the drain line, but quickly found out that the issue was the water pressure regulator on my main line. He fixed the issue at NO charge. I insisted to pay him for taking time out of his busy schedule to made a service call, but he refused to accept any payment. Jacob said, he didn't spend much time fixing my plumbing issue. Maybe not a unique experience for Jacob's customers, but certainly unique for me. I called Jacob to get an estimate on removing the gas line nipple and valve assembly behind my dryer. I'm switching to an electric dryer, and to save space with the install, this hardware needed to go. I called a few places all wanting to give me quotes or charge a fee to do an estimate of what I thought should be a straightforward project. Ultimately, Jacob confirmed my suspicions, and actually recommended that I do the work myself to save money. In total with his guidance on the proper tools and hardware, I spent 20$ at a trip to Home Depot, and less than 10 minutes to do the work. Jacob gave me the confidence to do the work myself, told me what to be mindful of while working with natural gas. Our upstairs master bathroom developed a leak that wasn't evident except for a pool of water coming out of the wall of our downstairs living room. I tried finding it myself but couldn't do I put out requests on Yelp. 3 of the 4 requests replied and Jacob was one of two that replied within an hour. I cold tell from talking to him and the questions he asked about the age of my house and the location of the leak that he knew his stuff. He offered to do a free inspection the very next morning and showed up on time. When looking at it we determined the wall needed to be opened up and that it may need to be opened to the ceiling. BUT, because my house was built in 1966, he could not do it until it was tested for asbestos and led paint. What? Really? I was skeptical but went with it as he said if it tests positive and abatement was needed, homeowners insurance would cover that part, as well as restoration. The results came back positive for asbestos as well as a some led in the old, original paint even though it had been painted over. And the drywall was very moist, along with the framing. Turns out I had a pinhole leak that had been going on for a while but had gotten worse. He recommended replacing the old copper cold and hot line that had deteriorated (not just patch it) and might as well do the rusty, led drain pipe while exposed. I looked at their condition and agreed, as I don't want to go through this again. Jacob did a great job, and recommended a great restoration company (Restoration Pros), that he has worked with. I was looking for a plumber to service a house we just moved in to in the city of HB. Went on a FB group local to HB, and I saw Jacob's services recommended over and over. I gave him a shot to fix my kitchen sink drain. He communicated on the phone and text of all updates, easy to speak to and explains the situation. He came over and showed up at the agreed time, the fix was super easy. We used my own shop vacuum to clear the line and all was good. He didn't even charge me for a thing. What a stand up guy.
