The distance getting from Santa Monica to Inglewood was worth the drive. I got a great price ($48 out the door) and since it was early there was a small wait but it was short one. I noticed the tech was efficient and pleasantly working which is always a plus. I definitely recommend this place for a smog test. It's not a STAR station which is fine as long as it's not required from DMV. I was on the road before 10am which was great because I needed to get my registration tags from DMV since they expired the next day. I was done within a couple of hours. Phew!‍

But I was proved wrong on both my theories. After I failed my Smog Test for electrical issues, I went to go get my Check Engine light looked at because for the past 2 years its been malfunctioning. Cutting on and off all willy nilly. It didn't hinder the performance so I wasn't eager to get it looked at. But since I needed it off in order to pass this place was recommended to me. I went here not knowing what was the issue and how much it was gonna cost. To be honest I didn't want to pay over $5 but that was a pipe dream. Solomon the mechanic was EXTREMELY friendly. He immediately came off as someone I can trust and joke around with. I told him i wasn't looking to spend a lot and he let me know exactly how things worked. The initial inspection was $65 but went towards the total cost of maintenance. Which i thought was steep BUT would pay off in the long run towards the price. I left my car there for two hrs and when Solomon called back he let me know it could be 1 of 2 problems. He couldn't fix it the same day since I came kinda late on a Saturday and he wouldn't be able to get the parts and do the work before 1. But he quoted me $210 -$438 (at least thats what I thought he said) After brining it back later that week. He fixed the problem in a timely matter, maybe took him about 5 hrs. When I went to pick up my car he told me it was $238 minus the $65 i already paid him. Confused, because i thought it was $210 he gave me an extra $18 off the $238 in good faith. It was a miscommunication on my part which he wanted me to feel totally secure in our transaction so gave me a good faith discount. I WAS ^_^! I honest expected $210 but looking at the receipt it sat $238 and he still gave me a discount. Now thats a trustworthy guy. WOULD HIGHLY recommend this place if your in the neighborhood looking for a reliable/honest/friendly mechanic. Solomon is the best!!
