What a fantastic little gem. I had no idea this place existed until recently. I love BYOB restaurants and this one hit my top ten. The dishes are executed well and the house made pasta is delicious. Reservations are a must for this restaurant as it gets filled quickly. Staff are polite and the menu is terrific. I struggled deciding what I wanted because several dishes sounded great. Unfortunately, one negative aspect I notice was regarding the quantity for certain dishes. We ordered an 18 dollar octopus appetizer, and it came with barely any octopus. There was more lettuce than tentacle. For what we paid, we were expecting a good sized tentacle. It is also hit or miss with certain dishes regarding availability because they do run out of certain ingredients for main dishes. Overall a great hidden gem and delicious treats. read more

My favorite restaurant in the area and it is BYOB! Family restaurant with Po as chef, his wife as hostess and his kids serving --you feel like you're part of the family. The food is incredible -- from calamari to homemade pastas to the rack of lamb and the branzino. I have never had a bad meal at Po Le! Wednesday night: The grilled figs are simply orgasmic. If I never had anything else in my life... I would die a very very privileged and satisfied soul. I am stupefied. I have never actually experienced service this good. At any white glove establishment. The hostess addressed us each - - BY NAME - - to ask to pour us water. The server had our names down before he walked up to our table for the first time. The bus boy brought our appetizers - - and addressed us each by name. These are all separate people. Have you ever had someone ask you-- by name,-- if he could bring you the red OR black pepper grinder? This family & staff show what service CAN be. Absolutely top notch. I know this is a popular Spring House eatery. We are local residents (25 years), and our experience may be at variance with most. This was a special anniversary dinner outing.... our 37th. My first issue was the lobster bisque.....which looked great when the server put it down. My first spoonful was very surprising, as all I could taste was heavy butter, which overwhelmed the typical subtlety of the bisque. I love seafood soups and I have never sent a lobster bisque back as it is my favorite, but I knew I could not eat this....... Ok, looking forward to the main course which was shrimp and crab meat over fettuccine in a white wine sauce. My wife had dined here several weeks before, and had ordered this as the specialty. Although our server indicated that this was not on the menu tonight , we asked if it could be made?? Big Mistake! The original was made with sun dried tomatoes, but the dish that night, we noticed, was made with garden tomatoes, which created a very watery sort of tasteless sauce. I ate it as I did not want to send back a second dish, but my wife was not so inclined.....we debated, but she decided to send her dish back as we were rather frustrated at this point. Chef Po Le came out and initially appeared understanding, but this turned south quickly, as we described our concerns. He accused us of being difficult to satisfy and inferred that we were welcome not to come back. I suspect this means we were blackballed, a rather unflattering status that I have not experienced to date..... (I guess the customer is not always right at Po le Cucina). What upset me most was, that up until that point, we were having a perfect anniversary day celebration ...... breakfast at Zakes (the Best), a great bike ride on the Schuylkill River Trail...and was sincerely looking forward to a fantastic dinner.....Oh well...there is always next year! Afterthought....I have often wondered if restaurant owners ever taste the food they serve their patrons to see if there may be some validity to their dissatisfaction? read more

It just goes to show you, when a chef with talent is given the freedom to do his own thing, away from those tyrant owners and miserable bartender at that overrated restaurant down the Pike, creativity, quality and professionalism shines. The service was excellent. Intelligent, articulate and pleasant servers were attentive and efficient. With tablecloths, and a comfortable, clean, fresh dining room, and an open kitchen, Po Le has a wonderful atmosphere in which to dine. We started with the grilled calamari, which was so tender, dressed with a little lemon and olive oil, had a terrific grilled flavor and simplistic charm. The pasta e fagioli was OK, very light, more like a chicken soup rather than the traditional depth and richness to what one may be accustomed. For an entree, I had a beautiful, not small osso buco. This was very tender, not a lot of un-rendered fat but some. And it was moist throughout. Served with crisp haricot vert and plain white rice. I would prefer risotto rather than a plain white rice to be served with this Italian dish. My "friend" had the Pappardelle with the duck ragu. This was decadent, very rich, a little salty, and for the most part enjoyable, but not something I would order after tasting. It took me awhile to get here and I very much look forward to get this in my collection of local weeknight BYOB destinations. read more

This is a very small, family run business and reservations are needed for dinner. We were even told up front we had a time limit and the table was needed for a later group. It was nice of them to tell us that up front instead of trying to rush us out after the meal. There were people being turned away at the door, so be sure to make a reservation. Like other said, the online menu is small, but they do have a special menu also which almost doubles the size of the menu. The head server is the daughter of the owner. She is very friendly and very attentive. The owner is the head chef. Plates were cleared as needed and water was refilled continually when the glasses got below half. This is the type of restaurant where you can order anything on the menu and it will be excellent. We split many of the appetizers and they were all excellent. A bit expensive for the size, but worth the price. I enjoyed the octopus salad and calamari the most, but the others were just as good. One person in our group got the osso buco after reading the reviews here. Other tables in the restaurant were talking about needing to get it also. It was a huge meal. I sampled that and the gnocchis. Both were excellent. The lamb chop also looked very good, but it was over $40. But this is the type of place where you should not ask about the prices. All the desserts were made there and they had about 10 to choose. I had samples of 4 of them and just like the food, they could not have been done any better. The one downside to this place is the size of the eating area. It is very small. It is decorated to look like a room in a house and is not much bigger than one. It would be nice for a couple to go for a special night out, but the larger groups were really packed in. Their large round table, whick would be a table for 6 at other places was set up for 8 and they squeezed in a party of 10. I would not recommend going here with more than 4 people total if you want some elbow room. While they do not have a dress code, most people are from the local area and were dressed very fancy. They are BYOB. I would eat here every day if someone else was paying for me. And just looking at the restaurant categories this is under, I do not think it was French or Asian fusion. While the owner is asian, the food all seemed to be strictly Italian. read more

What a nice surprise to experience Po's food and caring service. This is a family run restaurant, and everyone was so nice and knowledgeable. Po himself came over to talk with us for at least 10 minutes...nice touch. The food was terrific. While the menu items provided plenty of tempting options, we all went for some specials for the night, including an A+ veal chop! Fish dishes were equally good, and Po's pastry chef background didn't disappoint with the dessert options...all superb. It's a small space, and a bit tight...but we managed without a problem. We love this family owned BYOB! We have taken family and friends there and they have all gone back. The gnocci is light and amazing, but all of the seafood dishes are great, too. But owner, Po, is a pastry chef who also has a yummy assortment of deserts! Just a great hidden gem. You do need reservations on a weekend. read more

2 of us showed up on a Saturday night knowing our chances for having a meal were slim. They were full for the night with all reservations taken. Nonetheless, we figured, lets give it a try. Instead of being swatted away like most establishments would, we were instead offered water in the waiting room with a smile and a "we will do whatever we can." In fact, this was followed a few minutes later by "mom is very hopeful", a message from the owner. A table got up early and we were told we had 45 minutes to dine if that was okay by us since nothing else had come about. We had a fantastic meal with fantastic service. After saying goodbye we were in the car about to leave when the owner showed up at our car door with dessert saying thank you for being so accommodating in the short window we had to eat when all along it was they that were accommodating. Couldn't have nicer things to say about this amazing little BYOB. From homemade pasta to fresh fish, this restaurant has you feeling like you're simultaneously eating at your parents house, and a fine dining establishment. The restaurant is family owned, which is evident in the pride they take in each of their dishes. Our waitress was the daughter of the head chef, and was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, and especially attentive to my food allergies - not to mention, very funny. For starters, our group ordered fried calamari, Caesar salad and bruschetta - just the right amount of food for four people to share. For our main courses we ordered the branzino fish, veal osso buco, penne with added chicken in a rosa sauce (basically vodka sauce) and the special, veal tortellini. The branzino comes either filleted or whole (your choice), and my companion said it was one of the best he's ever had. The veal osso buco was expertly cooked, with the meat remaining tender, and the marrow perfect for spooning out and sharing - if you're feeling generous, that is. The penne in rosa sauce had such depth of flavor that you could tell it was a recipe they've been perfecting over the years, and the homemade tortellini had the perfect texture, and with the amount of ground veal inside each one, it could have been a meal in and of itself. We had three desserts to share: the Crème brûlée cheesecake, the apple Napoleon and the berry torte. While the torte was not as sweet as I'd like, and a bit watery from the fresh fruit, the other two desserts were so amazing that we all had to claim which few remaining bites were ours, and which we were willing to let the other eat. All in all, it was such a pleasant evening, and my only regret is that because it was so delicious, I forgot to take any photos! read more

First visit last night with friends. It is a small place in a strip mall, and well worth a visit. Food was excellent, service was great. I appreciated that it is run directly by the family. Appetizers, meals and desserts varied across our group and we all loved them. Very creative twists included figs wrapped in prosciutto, po le chicken, and oh my the desserts and complementary warm cookies. Now they are closed for eat in business BUT they are open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights for take out. Same terrific food, same service with a smile...as they deliver your food to your car. It was a last minute decision to go out to dinner on a Wednesday night. We did not know anything about this restaurant until we arrived. It is not a big place and although it was busy we didn't feel cramped and it wasn't noisy. The food was out of this world. We had appetizers, dinner and dessert. There were four of us and we were all very satisfied with our meals. The portions were generous. The dessert tray was unique and all homemade. The service was top notch and the wait for our food was minimal. Our waiter, David, was very friendly and did a great job explaining the specials. Their menu is not huge but has plenty to choose from. They had maybe 4 or 5 specials. The highlight of the night was when Mr. Po Le came out and talked to us. We were blown away with his friendly personality. He shared his personal story with us which was priceless. I would recommend reservations because I could see this place filling up quick. A friend recommended this restaurant, so my wife and I tried it for lunch in January 2016. We loved it. Service is good and personalized. Our waitress did not speak English well, but it was no big deal. The owner/ chef chatted with us, and we liked him. The room is attractive and clean. Prices are very reasonable. My wife had pasta primavera which had a light sauce (not rich and creamy) and lots of perfectly cooked veggies. She raves about that dish.
