Tried poached today for breakfast. Wish we tried it sooner. You order and pay when you first walk in. You pick a place to sit, then a server brings you a tall chilled bottle of water and glasses to share with your table. Coffee is drip coffee. My husband said it was good. I had their fresh squeezed orange juice. It was fresh, tasted like I squeezed my oranges in my backyard. Very good. I was pleased to see they use organic foods and free range eggs/chicken. The steak they serve is also grass fed pasture raised. Makes you feel better about what you're eating. Hash browns were good. I had their morning scramble with bacon. It comes with 3 eggs, choice of protein and white cheddar cheese, and choice of bread (whole wheat, sourdough, English muffin). My husband had the house Benedict. He really enjoyed it. First time trying this location. Loved how spacious and modern the restaurant looks. It was super easy to set up a reservation for a large party the day before. They had our table ready right on time! Everyone loved their meals. The only negative was that the tomahawk was a bit bland, but after adding salt and pepper, it was really tasty. Their house potatoes were juuust right. Their buttered multigrain bread was amaaazing. I'm usually not a big fan of Belgian waffles (I prefer as many crispy points of contact as possible), but these were really great. They were so crispy and airy. Honestly, no notes! Really good food. I liked eating at Poached. It has the set up of a quick serve restaurant, but the food quality is much better. My wife and I both liked what we ate- I especially liked their hash browns. The patio is a nice and comfortable place to sit and eat. The person who took our orders and the guy walking around refilling waters were nice. Outside of that, not much interaction with staff, which is fine. I liked being able to finish up and just leave and not having to wait for a check. The only negative for me is the value. Prices are higher than I would expect for the food and experience. The restaurant is very modern. There was plenty of seating both inside and outside. The service was excellent. Everything came out very quickly and nothing from our order was missing. Looking to take my wife for a belated Mother's Day brunch and came across Poached Kitchen. We also wanted to bring our pup and made sure they allowed pets (which they do). When we arrived, there was plenty of parking (came around 12:30pm). As we walked inside we were greeted by Martin who was super friendly. We really enjoyed the atmosphere as they had chill R&B in the background and the restaurant was very clean. We ended up ordering the Birria Short Rib Benedict with hash browns, Chile Verde Benedict and other hash browns, and an Apricot and Strawberry Waffle for our meal. I would suggest getting some sort of coffee as it pairs well with the waffle. The Dulce de Leche and the Lavender Latte was our choice and it was superb! All the dishes were plated very nice and they looked very appetizing. We also did not have to wait too long for our coffee as it came out about 5 min later and our food shortly after that. So the service is very good here. My chile verde dish was pretty good, the poached egg was poached amazingly (they are called the poached egg lol) and the chile verde was pleasant. I've had stronger chile verde flavors but I'm assuming it was more mild so it did not overtake the delicate flavors of the Benedict. I really enjoyed my wife's Birria Benedict as it did have more bolder flavors. The waffle was exactly how I thought it would be and it was delightful. Have been here four times, first as a breakfast date with my husband, and the other times with larger friend and family groups. When busy, there is a hostess to assist with wait times and seating, but otherwise, the way to eat here is order and pay at the counter first, grab your number, and pick a seat. Haven't had a chance to sit at the counter top but the pet-friendly outdoor patio is covered with space heaters you can request to turn on if they aren't on already (albeit they are weaker with the heat than other nearby restaurants). Staff are friendly and attentive although don't expect the typical service a waiter would give at a diner since you've already ordered and food will be placed at your table in due time. The portions and quality of the food, especially the experimental seasonal dishes, are excellent and enough for leftovers if you don't have a large appetite. It's our new favorite breakfast spot, lots of parking shared with Board and Brews and BevMo, enjoy! read more

Second time at poached and loved both visits ! You order at the front and pick your table. Outside seating allows your pet/dog. I'll start with the only negative : the steak was cooked well done for our breakfast and so it was chewy and bleh. I don't believe they asked us for how cooked we wanted it though they did ask for the eggs. I ate the chilaquiles both times- amazing flavors and the beans are a nice complement on the side so it doesn't overwhelm the plate and make the chips soggy! We tried the waffle today and the dough to crisp ratio was phenomenal. The best thing was the whipped cream that had a fluffy consistency even to the end of the brunch. Brewed coffee was ok. It's not a very big restaurant, but they were able to get us seated pretty fast. The food and drinks were good, the ambiance is definitely kind of cramped and hectic though. Dogs are allowed, but since the seats are so close together it's more difficult to bring larger dogs through and not as comfortable as other outdoor seating brunch places. When you arrive you order and pay at the register and then sit down, we sat at the bar and got a great view of the barista crafting the cappuccinos, lattes with various designs. The food was amazing, I ordered the Birria Benedict eggs with a side of home fries and a Mx lager, amazing combo 10/10 the short ribs were so soft and savory, I wish it came with a side of birria broth, the eggs and the Benedict sauce were also delicious, I enjoyed every bite. My mom ordered the Machaca scramble, also very delicious 10/10, the machaca and guacamole tasted great. Their potatoes were also amazing id recommend each dish. They are not overly sweet and so light/fluffy. I love that they aren't dense, since pancakes normally make me feel overly full. I 100% recommend trying these. Chicken Caesar Wrap * Their caesar wrap is delicious, light, & filling. The chicken to lettuce ratio is perfect, they give you a lot of chicken. A brightly lit family friendly atmosphere might make you think they are average, but that would be a mistake. While toddlers babble, and tiny toes peek out of car carriers, the food is... Frankly incredible. Get the orange juice. It's still oranges when you place your order. The machine is just behind the kiosks. Sweet ORANGE juice. You can taste its freshness, and it's lovely. The coffee tastes dark as it gets. Silky smooth on the tongue, it goes fast, and then suddenly there's more in your mug. I got the tomahawk pork chop, and I figured the portion would be big, but the meat alone was like my fist. Tender, flavorful, and done right. I wound up using my teeth on the bone, manners be darned. The sage and apple sauce on top added a ton. Pork and apples do love each other, and this sauce was a great balance of sweet and tart, and the sage made for a whole other layer of flavor. The potatoes didn't need anything. Served with onions, we ate them as they were, until we remembered we had two perfect eggs, then that became the sauce. My wife got the pumpkin pear French toast. I thought I had out ordered her, but after trying it I'm not sure. Pumpkin spice gets a bad rap from being over saturated. This dish used it perfectly. The toast itself was great, but the pumpkin spice topping, and a little pear goes a long way. I got a bite like that plus a slice of banana, and the banana came through adding a tropical note. It all jived. I don't usually think of Hawaii when I think of autumn or pumpkin spice, but that transported me. This place is well worth a visit. read more

I got the Korean Short Rib Benedict. The sauce in the meat was...there was tang. There was spice. I guess it worked. The hash browns on my plate had this slight taste of burnt cheese and my friend's hash browns had the taste of pancake batter. I get that they'd need, or use the same griddle top, but clean it! I shouldn't be able to taste remnants of what else was cooked there! My poached eggs had runny, uncooked whites and the yolk was really runny. That's not a fully poached egg. For a place whose name is "Poached Kitchen" they gotta do better on quality control of their Benny's. The waiter/server made it a point of telling me, when he delivered my coffee that it was 'bottomless'. Only thing I saw was the bottom of my mug. Neither he, nor any other server refilled my coffee even once or even asked how our meal was. Why did I even tip?! There was no service! For the price, they need to be better, better on service and quality. And they should not have had an option for a tip since you must pay prior to your meal. I tipped 20% and didn't get my money's worth. Its only plus, if I have to give them any credit, is their patio. Made the midday bearable. read more

we loved poached! i'm so happy a brunch spot opened in anaheim hills, we need more entertaining places like this in the area. i came here with my boyfriend and we decided to order something sweet, and another thing savory to try. we decided on the veggie scramble (side of hashbrowns and whole grain toast, but you can choose your sides), and the classic waffles. he got a vanilla latte and i got the bottomless drip coffee. everything was very yummy! i loved both the veggie scramble and the waffles! the waffles have this yummy whipped cream on them with berries and it was very delicious! the veggie scramble was also very yummy and fresh. my boyfriend loved the hashbrowns and the waffles as well! coffee was fresh and delicious. i'd definitely reccomend to share at this place, since their portions are pretty big. we had a great time sharing and trying new dishes! the place is very fun and pretty; you can sit inside or outside. it was packed on a friday morning, but it was a really fun ambiance. we had such an amazing time together! thank you poached for making our morning!! read more

They have multiple locations and you need to make sure you are clicking the correct location when you go through the process because I believe it prompts you twice. DON'T COME HERE UNLESS YOU'RE READY TO WAIT and SCREAM. We tried this several times before giving this review. Today is Sunday and we went at 1130am so we visited this location at their worst time. We waited 30 minutes to put in our order and 22 minutes to get our food. We're attracted to this place because of the quality of the food and when they don't have tables full and a half hour wait, their service is excellent as well. But they placed their tables 8" apart and the chairs back to back are just a little more - about 12" - so getting to your chair is not easy and makes people have to pull in their chairs for you to pass and some don't want to. As you sit at your table you have people seated about 8" away and if both tables on either side are loud conversationalists, then you're in a sound tunnel and can't hear the person sitting right across from you. Of course this is unique if you're a party of 2 and you get your own table if you have 3 or 4 people and a little more room between tables. This describes a party of 2 that paid $65+ for breakfast. Some cultures like loud places - we ate at one for Dim Sum in Garden Grove where you sat at a table for 10-12 people - round table - and people stood behind you waiting for your seat...the people behind you were talking loudly and the people at the table were also very loud. Everyone seemed to enjoy that and the food was very good so we smiled and ate fast. If you like this then you'll like the ambiance at Poached very much and be sure to go on Saturday or Sunday morning. So we had Eggs Benedict, Mushroom Crusted Pork Chop, a single side pancake and a Cappuccino. Now careful about the pork chop...it comes with potatoes, toast, two eggs on a very small plate...so they have to stack the items on top of each other. In order to eat it, you have to spread it out, but the table is too small and there are no extra plates. We declined to start putting things on the table even though we're not germaphobic. At a fine restaurant they would bring an extra plate...for bread, for potatoes, or something...not happening here. So you have to focus...eat one thing until it's gone then move other things over so you can work on those. Slicing a tomahawk pork chop? Out of the question. First clean your plate. We had to beg for more napkins, salt and pepper, and hot sauce...and getting more butter (mine was missing from my plate) was a long ordeal taking too long for the bread to stay warm. Normally when the place isn't busy, the service is excellent and very quick. But at this time even the servers were struggling to get around the crowds. Think about it...if you increase your seating by one third, then you product half again as much as you would with the less seating. So if you arrange to have 1/3rd more chairs when you have lines 30 minutes long, you increase your revenue by 100% (double). How can you resist that? My guess is they have 100 seats inside and 100 seats outside. So our favorite place for breakfast...a Saturday, Sunday morning affair, is our least favorite place for ambiance and service. And I don't see them on DoorDash at all so that's not a solution either. Our compliments to the kitchen...well organized, excellent sourcing and preparation...and stress-tested to the max with more seats than was ever built into their calculations. Our compliments to the servers...you're doing exceedingly well considering the challenges placed in front of you by the greedy owners. Best feature on Sunday?
