First time coming to Poached Kitchen yesterday and it did not disappoint! Located in a shopping center on the corner of Imperial Hwy and Santa Ana Canyon, it's easy to spot from the street, but if you're not familiar with the center, I'd recommend using your navigation system to get to their door. Upon entering, we were warmly greeted by the 2 young women taking orders at the registers. Since it was our first visit, they were very patient while we perused the menu board and were happy to share what their best sellers are. We placed our orders and were given a number to take to the table for our food t be brought to us. On a side note, we were surprised and somewhat disappointed to learn that they do not take cash payments. The restaurant itself is nicely laid out and has a welcoming and comfortable feel for both inside and outside dining. Today, the short ribs were both calling both our names. My friend chose the Short Ribs Benedict and thoroughly enjoyed it. She commented that poaching perfect eggs is an acquired skill and the chef nailed it! I chose the Short Ribs Omelette ~ the ribs were SO tender! We both chose fresh fruit for our sides and that truly rounded out our meals perfectly. For beverages, we ordered water and coffee. They offered the choice of regular or sparkling water and brought out a good sized chilled bottle for us to be able to refill our cups as desired. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed the coffee. I'm usually not a fan of strong coffee, but although it was strong, it wasn't bitter. They do have staff that keeps an eye on the dining room, checking with diners to get drink refills and asking how our food is. Today Edgar stopped by our table the most and was super friendly and gave excellent service. The whole experience was great! The lemon ricotta pancakes looked tragic-like a puddle of melted butter on berries trying to pass as a topping, with no sides included to justify the price. We went to Poached for breakfast today. I had their Eggs Benedict, which smelled and tasted of vinegar. The food was warm, not hot, and the amount of Hollandaise was minimal at best. My husband had the Short Rib Omelet and was disappointed. Ir was highly seasoned with Mexican spices, and while he loves Mexican food, it was a little over-the-top. The hash browns were mushy. So the way this place works is you put your name down with the hostess, and when they call your name, they assign you a table number, you order at the counter and tell them your table number, then you go sit down and wait for your food. There's indoor and outdoor patio seating available. I love their creative menu, everything looks so good. My friend and I decided on the Poached Pear French Toast and the Omelet a la Grecque, as well as the Dulce de Leche and Pumpkin spice latte for our drinks. We went during lunch so we missed the busy brunch crowd, but for some reason we still had to remind the staff about our order. Our food came first but they didn't bring our side of sausages. Luckily my friend kept her paper receipt and showed the server as proof that it was already paid for. Our coffees didn't come until we flagged someone down and asked about the status of our drinks. The coffees and the omelet was great, but the French toast was not. I liked the flavor combination for sure, but the bread was so hard and neither of us could cut through the crust of the bread. Party of 6 and they got us in relatively quickly around 11 am (with a 20-25 min wait). Their casual approach helps as your entire party doesn't have to be present then and there. You order at the counter and choose togo- or your table, and they bring everything out. We surmised that they just didn't have enough room/staff to take orders at the table & pay us out. They were all very attentive, refilling coffee, water bottles, clearing plates, giving us to-go containers. It was very helpful. I wish your chai latte had a stronger taste. This place is absolutely amazing. My favorite breakfast place. I'm literally here almost every weekend with my husband and two kids. I bring my extended family here and friends. I first found it through the Irvine location where I also brought everyone I know. I am so happy they opened this location cause it's so much closer and we love it. Great food. Everything is so fresh and delicious. It's also fast, which is great for kids. The men who work here always have good attitudes. Sometimes the women have RBF but thats ok, the food is worth it. Place order at counter, tell person your assigned table number, then find your seat. Become astonished how people think it's OK to bring dogs to a restaurant, and even more so that the restaurant allows it. Service was awful! Saturday, 7/19/25 around 11am. We asked to sit outside but were given a table by the door - constant foot traffic, and a trash trolley parked nearby. It smelled bad. I asked to move since I could clearly see empty tables outside, but was told they were being held for others. We stayed in that miserable spot, trying to eat while dealing with the stench and people constantly passing by. 45 minutes later, as we were nearly finished, those outdoor tables were still empty. I brought it up again, and the hostess acted like I'd never asked in the first place, clearly annoyed that I mentioned it. I understand the place gets busy, but this completely ruined our meal. On top of that, we had to ask for cutlery and water after the food had already been served - while other tables had both brought out automatically. My wife asked a waitress and was outright ignored. Add to that the fact that we're visibly Muslim, and frankly, it felt like we were being singled out. Was it discrimination or just plain bad service? I hope it's the latter. Not a fan! First off, was there a carbon monoxide leak in there the day we went? Every person we interacted with here was lethargic and had zero personality. Then you order at the counter and tell them your table number. Go seat yourself, the food is brought by a runner. Nobody checks to see how anything is after that. We left before the plates were cleared. I had their House Benedict which is served with hash browns. My English Muffin wasn't toasted at all, it was just a doughy, plain, cold muffin. There was barely any hollandaise on the plate, maybe one tablespoon on each egg. It was just too dry, especially since the muffin wasn't cooked properly. Neither of us cared for the taste of their hollandaise, not sure if it was the "serrano aioli" that is listed on the menu or the sauce itself? The ham they use is thin and overly salty. The hash browns were the best part of my meal, although they have the consistency of mashed potatoes that were fried. My husband had their Egg Sandwich, which looks delicious online. Unfortunately what he was served didn't look anything like that picture. There was so much red sauce dripping off it that we thought they had squirted hot sauce all over his eggs. Turns out this was the heirloom tomato "jam" which was super runny. His sandwich was a mess to eat. The "custard eggs" were nothing of the sort, they were firm, overcooked scrambled eggs.
