Really 4.5 I've been meaning to try this place for a bit and I'm sorry I waited so long! Came for lunch and we got fish and chips and a shrimp po'boy with beignets for dessert. It was a LOT of delicious food!! The shrimp po'boy came on really good bread (maybe acme?) and was stuffed with giant shrimp which actually tasted like shrimp. No remoulade but I didn't miss that at all because all of the remoulade flavors were there. This is a great sandwich po'boy people! Fish and chips came with 2 giant pieces of perfectly cooked fish, slaw and hand cut fries. Yum. Then beignet...a lot and they could have been slightly yeastier...but I'm just being picky. Service was really nice, the venue is small and charming, and the bar is cute if you're going to sit inside. If you want to sit outside they have heat lamps which work pretty well. I was really happy with my giant lunch. I'm coming back soon for sure.

Poboys serves up Cajun soul food in a quaint and cozy, colorful restaurant in Potrero Hill. A warm welcome greeted me as I entered, and I sat down at one of their colorful tables surrounded by pops of color, and the aromas of deliciousness. I can't go to a soul food restaurant without ordering okra, so I got that, and boy was I pleased. These tasty little crunchy morsels came with a side of jalapeño aioli, and I don't normally like aioli, but this one was a hit. Next I opted for the fried chicken plate with mashed potatoes and gravy and collard greens. Whatever they batter that chicken with should be patented, it's seriously good. The whole meal came out hot and flavorful. It's a big plate of food so I could have split all this with another person and been satisfied. Now I have another meal to look forward to at home. Check out this spot and enjoy yourself a delicious meal.

Review based on the chicken combo plate and gumbo. Food: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: Casual Value: 4.5/5 The fried chicken had nice breading and authentic cajun style, however I would say the chicken was dry in some parts for me. To achieve 5 stars for me, that chicken has to really hit and have a wow factor. The gumbo was good and I enjoyed it, but again didn't give me the "I have to have to come back for this" experience. Staff were very friendly. Value wise, I thought the menu is fairly priced especially for sf standards.

Was in the area for a meeting and decided to stop here for lunch. It was very quiet when I walked in, but I can totally see this placing bustling for dinner. Very charming interior, not a lot of seating though. I ordered the shrimp and grits and cornbread since. Both were very delicious! Shrimp was cooked perfectly. The sauce on the grits was tasty and the cornbread had a bit of crunch on the outside and very fluffy inside. I'd definitely return and highly recommend! Food rating Shrimp and grits 8/10 Cornbread 8/10 Customer service 10/10 Ambiance 9/10

Best creole food!! I dream of every time I'm in the city just to stop by for lunch. I had it for the first time last year and we chose to come back for a little lunch on Valentine's Day this year. Easily the best thing to order is the chicken and waffles. The chicken is juicy and not greasy and the waffles are fluffy and full of sugar pearls. The whipped cream with it pairs perfectly, definitely make sure to order extra. The gumbo, jambalaya, fried okra and shrimp and grits are always a good choice. The staff are very kind and attentive. I'm already dreaming of the chicken and waffles. Easily the best in the bay!

This was honestly the best cornbread I've ever had. It tasted just like a homemade recipe passed down from a mom or grandma -- warm, soft, and full of flavor. The jam served on the side was the perfect match and made every bite unforgettable. And the iced tea... wow. With every sip, I felt a refreshing Hawaii-style tropical vibe. Light, smooth, and so refreshing -- it completed the whole experience perfectly, and owner was amazing thank you Metin ..

Solid place- been here twice and enjoyed it both times. It hits that comfort food spot. Had most items on the menu and all delish. My fave is their fried okra!

Came here for a quick dinner and got the sweet tea and chicken combo plate. The chicken combo plate takes 20 minutes to make but it's well worth it! Comes with a side of collard greens and mashed potatoes. The sweet tea was not what I imagined it to be but it is a bit too floral for me. Would def come back to try other dishes.

Went to Po boy kitchen for lunch recently. The food was just meh, that's the best way I can put it. The cornbread, Mac and cheese, greens were all lackluster. The shrimp Po boy was ok, but the batter on the shrimp fell right off when biting into it. A giant indicator that the shrimp was precooked or frozen. I don't think I really need to say a lot more. It's a 2.5/3 star situation.

Went to this spot on a work lunch. Received a friendly greeting inside from our server. I ordered fish and chips, my coworker got the fried chicken sandwich. We grabbed seats outside; a little difficult as we were on a steepish hill but not too bad. Food came out quickly. The fish was crunchy and fresh, fries were nice and thick, and the slaw was good. Our server was very friendly and efficient. No complaints! We'll be back!

Stumbled upon this place by accident, but sure happy I discovered it. The best okra I have eaten and I'm from the south so had it all my life. The seasonings were delicious and unique- fresh cut parsley is put on it when served, and the side of remoulade is a great edition. The shrimp po'boy sandwich is lovely- crispy battered shrimp with amazing seasoned fries. Also liked the mac n cheese and my son loved the fish n chips. Coleslaw is also killer. Only recommendation is to have unsweetened iced tea available as well.

Ordered a shrimp and a chicken po boy sandwich to go. Called in the order and we're ready about 15 minutes later. They were friendly inside and seems like a cute little place. The sandwiches came with fries. Both sandwiches were ok. Wish protein on both were crispier and a different batter and fries seemed old and sorta hard. Sandwich was flavorful with the sauce. I'd maybe come back and try something else but wasn't too excited about the po boy unfortunately.

Swamp Tea was the perfect combination of tea, juice, and fruit!

My husband and I's favorite place to eat in the world is New Orleans so this place definitely did not disappoint. We started with coffee drinks, I had some sort of boozy espresso drink which I could have done without since the bitters tasted like licorice which is probably a taste preference. My husband had the grandma coffee which was also fine. Then the food came out and it went up from here! The catfish & grits just might be the best I've ever had. My husband also really enjoyed his banana foster French toast, & i loved that they allowed you to get one piece of fried chicken because i had to try it out despite a full meal. The wing I had was Nice & crunchy with a delicious sweet sauce on the side that reminded me of mambo sauce ( a DC staple.) My husband also had the gumbo which was good but I wouldn't say our favorite. I prefer my gumbo with a little more spice but that could just be personal preference. We ended the meal with beignets: I had the ube beignet which was so unique & flavorful! I don't think I would have had a chance to try that type of beignet anywhere else so glad to try something different, it was delicious. The crawfish beignet was also so flavorful! The beignets in general were much more bready than typical beignets but still very good & unique to this place. On top of that, the service was great & the food came out quick, hot & fresh! I wish we had more time (& stomach space) to try other items on the menu, everywhere we looked everything looked delicious so we'll just have to try more the next time we're back in SF!

The place is a little cramped, but we were able to wait inside until the whole party was there to be seated. It was a good place for a group dinner. The cocktails are cheap for San Francisco, and the beer selection is decent. And the food is dense and delicious without being too heavy. I shared the catfish with crawfish etouffee (special), the gumbo, and a dungeness crab beignet with my boyfriend. We also ordered some banana cream pie for the table, which was a huge hit.

I ordered the Lion's Mane Mushroom. *A lovely note for the vegans and lactose-intolerant: there is a dairy-free option for the Thai iced tea (made with coconut milk). Given that this was a Michelin guide restaurant, we had certain expectations of the place and sadly we were disappointed. While the service was friendly and the server knowledgeable on the menu, the service itself was severely lacking in detail you'd expect from a $$$$ type of place. Our drinks came out first, followed by the appetizer, then came EVERYTHING ELSE all at once. Papaya Salad Daikon Soup Trio of rice (purple, brown, white) Curry + protein (duck for my friend, lion's mane mushroom for me) We tried to tackle the soup first. It came in an artsy looking bowl with undulated/rouged edges that was awkward to drink from but equally awkward to spoon the soup from. The daikon was VERY WOODY. Both my friend and I awkwardly spit out splintery fibers and left them on our plate. Some of my daikon chunks were fine but my poor friend had double the amount of woody mass collecting on her plate which was really unsightly, especially when you're supposed to be at a nice place. I can't say I've ever encountered this with daikon before at a restaurant. It's pretty easy to see which parts of the daikon are too mature to use. Next we tried to get on to our entree as that was cooling quickly. Unfortunately the curries were already somewhat congealed by the time we made our way to it. The vegan one was pretty good, but again, I had some woody bits in my food. I don't know if that's from the mushroom or if it was from another ingredient but the splintery clumps amassing on the side of our plates was not what we had imagined we'd be doing at a Michelin guide restaurant.... My friend's duck wasn't much better. She complained about the awkward texture and wound up spitting out half of that one her plate. -not to mention, her meal was served to her without a steak knife. After waiting for much too long, she got up to go request a knife and walked the knife back to the table like a psycho. I'm not trying to sound entitled here, but when a restaurant is supposed to be "nice" and has "$$$$", you sort of expect a certain caliber of service. Having to go ask for a knife when you ordered a chunk of meat does seem like a miss. For what it's worth, the curries for both of us had a unique blend of flavors. My friend had a penang currty sweetened with lychee. I don't remember what kind of curry mine was, but it was tasty with a kick in the end. Curry to rice ratio was perhaps 1:3. We had to ask for extra curry to accompany the protein and rice to balance everything out. It would have just been so pasty and dry otherwise (you know, since everything was already congealed...) By the time we got around to our papaya salad, it had gone from chilled to room temp. While it was tasty, it wasn't as refreshing as the salad could be. We're not sure why all courses were served at once, or if that's how this specific lunch service goes? The best course of the day was 100% the dessert. Order the vegan dessert! "Mango-sticky rice ice cream". It was a homemade mango ice cream with coconut milk base. It sounds basic but these ingredients were masterfully put together to create something truly unique. Not sure where the rice was in this whole situation, but who cares! This dessert was incredible! Lightly sweet, creamy and freshing. It arrived like a piece of art, like a glossy, glimmering mango sculture. The way that chilled mango puree spilled over, coating the ice cream underneath... It clung on to the ice cream layer just barely coating it for most perfect combination of sweet and creamy. It was unfortunate I got the last one for the day. My friend had the cheesecake which she said was tasty but not mindblowing like my mango ice cream. It also was... not so glorious. In fact, it looked small and flat, like a half used stack of mini post-it notes. All in all, it was a fun experience. The dishes were familiar favorites with a creative twist. For $45, it wasn't bad but I don't know about coming back for the $$$$ dinner experience based on this visit. Maybe we'll be back for the $40-$45 prefixe again in the future.
