Our waitress (I think her name was Astrid) was beyond sweet and attentive, she explained all specials as well as the regular menu and made great recommendations. She brought us a plate with about 5 or 6 different sauces they make themselves it was so good. I felt the portions were a great full size and the meat quality was great. This place is perfect to grab a drink, watch the game and even have a bite to eat. It's nice for two people or even a group. They have a wide variety of drinks and food for good prices. On my most recent visit I got to try their lamb shank with boiled potatoes and carrots. The lamb shank perfectly fell off the bone and the fat melted in your mouth. The gravy was very flavorful. The only thing I found underwhelming were the potatoes as they could've cooked a little longer. The service at the counter is always very good and quick! These guys have been working this counter for a long time. The place still feels a little like a dive bar, but that's all part of the charm of this historical eatery.

Full bar and a very respectable wine list. Food-wise, we've tried all kinds of things, and everything's been great, but definitely start with the artichokes. For dessert, the chocolate pot de crème is a must. Get two or three of these, don't be shy, and you can thank me later. I don't believe I've been to other Hillstone locations, but you can't go wrong with this one. Before or after, you can take a walk along the beautiful SF waterfront. Enjoy!
