Let me cut to the chase. I was kinda disappointed with this casual rotisserie chicken shop even though it comes from the team that owns Limon. In fact, I was quite forlorn having presumed this location of Limon was permanently closed. I liked the way they prepared their pollo à la brasa because the Peruvian-style chicken was consistently succulent. I'm guessing maintaining the quality and profitability of a sit-down restaurant has been economically challenging since this was not the only Limon that has closed. I was encouraged that they kept the space and reinvented it into more of a fast food/takeout operation replete with a cartoon chicken mascot and an animated mural along the northern side of the building. I came by in the middle of a weekday afternoon, so I wasn't ready to eat on the spot. I decided on a takeout order of the $21.95 Half Chicken Pollo à la Brasa with two sides. I think I overdid the starches and went with the Plantains and Yuca Fries. I only noticed afterward that I could've gotten salad or cole slaw instead. When I got home and started to eat, I was immediately disappointed that the chicken tasted overcooked with the breast piece particularly dry. That was too bad because the skin from the rotisserie had the familiar flavorful seasonings. The plantains were tasty albeit a bit oily, while I had to nuke the lukewarm yuca fries to bring them back to life (Photo 9). Next time, I'll time my arrival closer to lunch or dinner, so I can dine in-house. My hope is that the chicken will be closer to the quality level I recall from Limon. Brasa bros has been in my list of new restaurants to try specially because I love this style of chicken. I came for lunch and the place was fairly empty. The cashier was very nice and attentive and the location was very clean. I ordered a 1/4 chicken with yuca fries and fried plantains which is my go to order for similar restaurants. Unfortunately the plantains were old and had a weird taste to them(I couldn't finish), the yuca fries were nice and crispy but you only get a few so that sucks, the chicken was the smallest piece of chicken I've ever received at a chicken restaurant! The fried chicken was very crispy and juicy and the fries were delicious, in my opinion. The fries were like thick cut steak fries that most were crunchy on outside and soft on the inside but there were definitely ones that weren't crispy (which I like). What a charming new fast food shop in the mission ! We ordered this for a game night with friends and it was absolutely perfect. We were able to order online and pick up our order very easily from the shop. We got a bucket with both the half chicken and the fried chicken . Both were very juicy and flavorful, but the true standout were the accompanying sauces. We got one of each sauce and they were so delicious in their own way. I personally liked mixing all of the sauces together but my husband's favorite was definitely the yellow sauce. As sides, we got the fries and the fried rice which were both perfect accompaniments to the chicken and the fries were also especially good in the sauces. I also had their Lagarta cerveza, which was smooth and refreshing. We were so excited to try this restaurant and even had a lunch-in with our doctors. We placed our order and made sure to add extra sauces--because who doesn't love Peruvian sauces? I even sent someone else a second time, and still, we didn't receive the full order of sauces. Don't get me wrong--the food itself was great and absolutely delicious. I just wish the customer service was more attentive when packing orders. To make things worse, they didn't even provide the driver with a bag for the sauces. Overall, a bit disappointing. Came for the first time because of good recs. Nice customer service, took food to go. When we ate the chaufa (fried rice) it tasted and smelled like chemicals/soap, specifically Fabuloso. My mom tasted it and said the same thing. I contacted them to let them know for food safety reasons and they said that some people have complained of the same thing and they believe it might just be a mixture of sauces they cook with (?). I asked which sauces and they told me soy sauce, ginger, and garlic. So no, it is Fabuloso and not the sauces. Be careful eating the chaufa. For the price I got salty unidentifiable pieces of what was supposed to be half a chicken. I would expect to get a thigh, leg, half the breast and a wing. I could not find the thigh. The leg was basically cut in half. I got yucca and arroz chaufa as my sides. The yucca was passable. But the fried rice was an oily tasteless mess. I also had to pay separate for the aji amarillo sauce. I paid $2.50 for the sauce and it was not enough for the yucca and the half chicken. What a joke. I am Peruvian... the value to cost ratio is just not there: like most of Limon's menu. I cannot recommend. Treat your customers with respect. This food is not cheap. I predict you will be out of business in a year when the gringos figure out they can get the same thing at the supermarket and just buy a jar of aji amarillo. read more
