I am so sad I didn't try this place sooner! We were greeted as soon as I walked in and it is very clean and well lit. We placed are order and it was ready pretty quick. I order the Lion King and fries. My son raved about their fries and he was right they are really good. Crisp, not very salty and the perfect serving size. The flavors of the Lion King caught me off guard because I was expecting it to taste like regular sushi but I was wrong it was delicious. It was definitely worth the 40 minute drive and we will be back again.
Nice little to-go sushi joint here, with sushi burritos/sandwiches. We have come here a couple times - the food has always been good and staff friendly. For me, I usually get two. This presents a challenge as one is normally not enough for me so basically lunch or dinner for me is about $25-$30. Since opening, prices have gone up over 50%. The Lion King was $8.50 and is now $13, and the PocketMon was $8.75 and is now $13.50. The PocketMon was pretty good. Shrimp and crab were tasty and plentiful. The dressing had good flavor. There was a lot of avocado- probably a bit too much. I had a large piece fall out from the bottom. The Lion King was better. I wish it was warm though as a normal Lion King sushi is baked. So it felt weird eating a cold Lion King. The salmon had good flavor and the sauce again was good. I would have given this a 4-star but it's gotten so expensive that it's cost prohibitive to visit often.
I've been wanting to try Pocket Sushi for a while since it reminded me of Sushiritto. It is located inside a plaza and there was plenty of parking which made things convenient. I ordered the Red Dragon which came with spicy tuna, shrimp tempura, unagi, avocado, crunchy teriyaki, and spicy mayo. I asked to add jalapeños and the lady helping me said it would be twenty five cents extra but they would have to be on the side. I thought that was strange since I wanted them inside, so I just skipped it. My order came out quickly, in about five minutes. The sushi pocket was good but nothing extraordinary. It tasted like a regular sushi roll but with a lot more rice, which in my opinion threw off the balance. The flavors were there but a little muted. The price felt high for what I got. It came out to sixteen dollars before tip, and at that price I would rather go to a sushi restaurant and get a traditional roll. I think what you are really paying for is the convenience and the handheld concept. Overall I am glad I got to try it, but I probably would not go back. It was a fun idea but just not worth the price for me.
My bf first introduced me to this and I was hooked. Now, I love that I work so close to this spot. It's such a smart idea to create this and it's so good. My favorites are lion king and mango madness. It's so fresh, saucy and packed into the rice burrito. I feel though for $13, I'd want a bigger burrito bc after one, you still want another one T_T. I recommend getting a miso soup for after, so so good! The establishment is clean and the employees are nice and helpful. There are a few tables inside and outside for those that want to eat there. Highly recommend for others to check out :)
Pocket sushi is an interesting idea. The owner was sitting an In and Out line and started thinking how he could do something "similar" for sushi. Well, they succeeded. I was impressed with their fish sourcing. From my experience, very few sushi places understand where their fish is from and how it has been handled from the time the fish left the water and served to the consumer. The owner explained the USDA/FDA process correctly. If you want traditional sushi, sashimi, or Japanese cuisine like Amakara or Stone Grill then this may not be your place. But if you want raw fish with a Japanese flair read on. Similar to some fast food hamburger places that give you the burger in a box Pocket Sushi creates a sushi roll that looks like a Mexican burrito with rice on the outside of the seaweed cover. This is an amazing feat. Think of a gigantic sushi roll that you can hold in one, or two hands, with a rice covering where the rice doesn't fall off and go everywhere. Like a hamburger, the roll is wrapped with paper that easily comes off. The roll is then placed in a nice paper box. This was easy to eat with your hand. Unlike a traditional sushi hand roll that looks like an ice cream cone, this looks more like a half-burrito with a layer of race instead of a tortilla. The burrito shape provides more space for the quality ingredients they use. If you want good quality fish quickly, give Pocket sushi a try.
Overall updated rating: 3.5 Tried Pocket Sushi again and pretty friendly, efficient service and ease of ordering was unchanged. Created a custom pocket with hamachi + shrimp tempura with avocado, masago and spicy mayo and the rest of the usual fixings. The flavors were excellent overall, along with the wasabi soy sauce for dipping. The persistent limitation is the texture of the rice which was still mushy and not flavored as much as I prefer for sushi rice.
Sushi burrito store. They're pretty fast and the ingredients are good and fresh. A bit small imo but enough to last through for a quick lunch break. Won't have the afternoon good coma. The place was very clean and workers were very nice. The offers came out super fast. There's indoor and outdoor seating. Part of a bigger parking lot.
This place is fantastic. I used to work nearby and get it occasionally for lunch. I still come by occasionally even though I don't work in the area. The services is great and quick. My pickup orders are always ready on time. I love that it has outdoor seating. The pockets are so great. My favorite is the Dragon with either Edamame or the Osaka Fries.
HOLY MOLY. I'm so happy I found this place! So yes like the name -- they specialize in pocket sushi! You can either make your own or pick out of the signature pockets. It's located in a shopping plaza so it's easy to park & find. As soon as I walked in I was greeted kindly by one of the workers! She helped answer all my questions since I wanted to try everything! Shoutout to her! I ordered a Lion King pocket with gyoza as a side. I received my order so quickly. It was absolutely delicious, flavorful, and incredibly filling. The baked salmon was perfectly cooked. I appreciated that it wasn't messy to eat or unwrap from the paper. I can't wait to come back! 10/10.
I love the selection here. I ordered Red Dragon, California pocket sushi and Shrimp tempura (3 pcs). They taste pretty good. The shrimp tempura is my favorite. The price of the shrimp tempura is reasonable, but the prices for the pocket sushi are a bit expensive from my perspective. Not much service here, but it's fine since this is more like a grab n go type of restaurant. I was surprised to see many people ordered to go dinner while I was there on a weekday after 5 pm. The ambiance is considered pretty nice for a grab n go restaurant. Overall, I enjoy dining here.
Came here for lunch and it wasn't busy. I ordered a make your own roll with salmon and unagi as well as a miso soup. It was really fresh and there was avocado in it as well which was nice! I just wish the pieces of protein were a bit bigger. The miso soup was served in a coffee cup which was unique but it was super easy to drink from. read more

Today, I ordered the custom pocket and my daughter ordered the dragon roll. I ordered the custom pocket because the server helped me to narrow down my choices of what I was going to eat. For my custom pocket, it was perfectly wrapped. I liked how it was a nice small serving because sometimes I don't want a large, heavy meal. My daughter's dragon roll is something that she would order again. read more

I really want to like this place. I can't justify paying $15 for a bunch of rice and barely any sushi. It was filling, but rice will do that to you. The staff were very nice and I always appreciate that. read more

The "pockets" are like sushi burritos, but they better because they are perfectly portioned. Perfect rice to filling ratio. They are generous with the fillings and everything taste so fresh! I LOVE that they offer a real crab substitute, why don't more places do this?! I wish there was one of these near where I live cause we would go all the time, already so many people asked me where I got this on my social media (please open up a location in Elk Grove!). read more

I've been coming here since 2019 and have returned or ordered pickup at least 20 times, and every visit reminds me why. The customer service is always warm and welcoming, the food is delicious, and the preparation is impressively fast with hardly any wait time. The interior is always spotless, which adds to the overall great experience. Highly recommend! read more

I've lived here for about a year and half and never knew this gem existed. Someone posted this place on Tiktok and I decided to give it a try. The workers are very kind, fast and efficient. This spot is like a hole-in-the wall, small but cozy. Lastly the food, fresh and delicious! Will continue to come back! read more

I was in need for sustenance and of course something that would give me energy to stay at work until 7:30pm. So I was looking around the area nearish work and Pocket Sushi came up. I'm all for a California roll when the craving hits and usually it's always if given the opportunity. When I saw photos of a sushi burrito, I was in. Overall, much more sizeable than I thought and I'm so stuffed! Enjoyed every bit of it. L O C A T I O N Pocket Sushi is in a small plaza off of Hopyard Rd and Stoneridge Drive but more south on Hopyard next to the Chase. Plenty of parking shared by the establishments in the area. M E N U They have a "Signature" Menu which is basically pre-designed pockets and also a Custom Menu where you can decide what you'd like in your pocket. They also have a few sides you can order like gyoza, salad, etc. as well as some drinks. I chose the California pocket which is basically a gigantic California roll with a shrimp tempura in there to boot and also some popcorn chicken because I thought I would need more food (which I was wrong about). The California is packed with imitation crab, avocado, shrimp tempura and a lettuce leaf. It was all covered in rice and a thin wrap which I wish covered the whole rice to make sure the rice didn't stick to the outer wrapper. But it was fine, not much rice was lost. I made sure they were given a good home in my stomach. The shrimp tempura was a nice textural contrast to everything else which was more mushy. Didn't taste overly oily which is nice. The popcorn chicken were definitely not popcorn sized, if popcorn was that size, I think I may be scared. But that's not to say it wasn't good. They're sizeable pieces that were moist, but salty. The dipping sauce was DELICIOUS. I don't know what it was but I dipped my pocket in there too. S E R V I C E I easily ordered at the front desk counter and paid with Apple Pay. Picking up was in the back and it didn't take too long. If you're only ordering a wrap, it's definitely faster. It took a tiny bit longer for mine as I ordered the popcorn chicken. O V E R A L L It's not too badly priced. I felt super stuffed from my one roll that I only really ate a couple chicken pieces and I had to stop myself as I may end up going into a food coma. If you like sushi rolls but in a bigger format, definitely a great place to try. I will definitely be back. read more

I've been here a few times so far and have tried the baked Alaska, mango madness, and poke pocket thus far. Their pockets are very tasty and pretty densely packed with toppings. It doesn't feel like they skimp at all on ingredients, which is a plus. Service is friendly--we've done online and phone orders without any issues. My only semi-gripe/wish would be that they offered a veggie tempura option for their pockets. As it stands, there are only 2 different pockets I can have because the rest all have shrimp by default. I recognize this is a me problem (me and all others with shellfish allergies or religious dietary restrictions), so it'd be cool if they did, but obviously not mandatory. (It looks like they used to have that option but not anymore.) They do have custom pocket options too, but those are $2 more expensive and for less ingredients. read more

On a Saturday, about lunch time, I finally had the opportunity to visit this highly recommended but out of the way place in between corporate offices and the corporate plaza malls in Dublin/Pleasanton. And ... it was worth it! The small dine-in space was modern and tidy, amazingly efficient, super clean and welcoming. Ordered the Egg & Spam Musubi, Poketmon and The Trio. My orders had the FRESHEST ingredients prepared in the open kitchen... with expert care, presentation... and speed! Soooo... our impressions were that the items were super fresh and well presented, SUPER YUM ... but my family and I felt we needed more Furikake or something more *umami* to make the Pocket Sushis THE BOMB. Next visit, trying the custom pockets with more spice and sauce options! read more
So delicious!!! The fish here taste so fresh and each burrito is filled with it. One thing I love is how the pocket sushi stays together the whole time you are eating it. The pocket is wrapped with a edible soy paper on the outside which keeps it all together. The workers are quick with our orders coming out in around 5 minutes. The interior is clean and there is plenty of parking. Mango Madness: So refreshing! I love the combination of fresh/cold salmon with freshly sliced mangoes. All the flavors pair so well together! Red Dragon: I love the combination of items in this pocket sushi. The spicy tuna provides the spiciness, the unagi provides the sweetness, and the tempura gives the crunch. So delicious! read more

been coming here for 4+ years since this place popped off during Covid and this is the only sushi burrito I'd ever get. When I say let's get sushi burritos and they look at me with suspicion I just say shh. you must just trust and follow. So easy to order and take out, super quick service, and fish quality and ratio to rice are impressive. I always get something with unagi and salmon/tuna, and red dragon seems to be everybody's fav! If I rlly sat down and set my mind to it I could probs eat 3 of these but honestly 1 goes farther than you think when you first see the short pockets -- they are each super packed inside. Stopped by here on my way back to SF from Yosemite and I'll definitely be back when I'm in the area. We ordered the hot pocket and the red dragon and both were SO GOOD. I enjoy this a lot more than Sushiritto. The ingredients tasted fresher and the portions were more generous. I loved how the tempura was still crispy on the inside despite being wrapped in a little pocket. I also really liked how they wrapped everything in a soy wrap to prevent the rice from falling apart. It was a really small but smart touch. We also ordered the Osaka fries which were basically fries with takoyaki seasoning on the outside. The fries were good, they were really generous with the sauce and the bonito flakes! The pockets were super filling though so I'd probably skip on the fries next time. read more
This place reminds me of Sushirrito. I think sushirrito is bigger like a burrito which they cut in half. Pocket sushi is half the size and slightly wider. It's hard to compare their taste since I haven't had sushirrito for a long time. I like the variety options and quick service. They even have lots of seatings (indoor and outdoor). read more

LOVE this place. Staff is always friendly and the food is so good! Pretty fast service too. I've tried the mango madness, lion king, red dragon, Poketmon, spam & egg musubi. I recommend all of them, or build your own if you want more of a certain fish. I think my only complaint is that I wish there was more fish. But overall these sushi burritos are good! Portion wise, it's a good size if you don't wanna be too full. I also suggest trying the Osaka fries if you have a chance! read more

This is my absolute go-to place! We got the mango madness and lion king, but subbed both sauces for spicy mayo. The mango madness was the perfect combination of sweet and salty. The lion king was very creamy and cooked nicely. Also got the osaka fries, and they were delicious! Service was friendly and accommodating of our requests. Would definitely recommend! read more
I can't believe I never visited pocket sushi and they are literally right around the corner from where I live. I came here for lunch with the recommendation of my hubby since he wanted to try it and we were so impressed by the food. The shop is small but there are a few tables inside and there are also a few tables outside the store. The service was good and quick. The cashier lady was helpful and recommended what were good pairings for the pocket. I ordered a salmon pocket with avocado and fish roe. It came with imitation crab, lettuce, tempura and fish roe in the pocket all wrapped in sushi rice and rice paper. The salmon was really fresh and tasty. It was great texture and not a hint of fishy smells. The tempura was perfectly crunchy. The remaining ingredients were al fresh and tasted great. The pocket is really filling and delicious. I was stuffed after eating the entire pocket. It probably could've eaten a bit less because I felt food coma afterwards. I'm super excited to have discovered this place. Love coming here for a quick lunch. The sushi is always fresh here! I ordered the Trio Signature pocket ($15.75) with lettuce, cucumber, shrimp tempura, tuna, hamachi, salmon, pickled radish and cilantro. It doesn't come with any sauce inside of it so you can get a side of spicy Mayo or sriracha. The quality of the ingredients are fresh and everything is made to order. You can order it via the app to pick up or order in the restaurant. Wait time is less than 10 mins. Friendly and quick service each time. I gave it 4 stars because the portions are actually pretty small. With tax, it's about $17 and sometimes I'm not even full. read more

Nice little spot for a sushi pocket, at first I was a bit confused as to what a sushi pocket was, however upon opening my bow containing my lunch I was quite amused. The sushi pocket is a girthy sushi rice burrito with additional soy wrap on the outer layer to keep the rice together. The wrap itself wasnt so long in length but was pretty packed with ingredients. The trio contained samon albacore some cucumber and tempura shrimp, this wrap came with soy wasabi dipping sauce. Quick and easy lunch, but docking a star as felt it was quite pricy for a wrap read more
Be prepared to eat a full meal all within a single sushi-like pocket! I had eaten two of these and honestly thought one was enough and they were absolutely delicious! I had the : Red dragon- loaded with utter deliciousness ranging from unagi, to spicy tuna, to avocado, to crispy shrimp tempura. The rice delicious as well, sweet and sticky to hold all the contents together in the pocket. The combo of the unagi, spicy tuna, and shrimp tempura was so alluring to my tastebuds, I just had to devour the whole thing in 2 minutes. I couldn't stop. Trio- This one I would say is probably one of the least saucy pockets which I absolutely love. Coupled with tuna, hamachi, and salmon, this is one of the most refreshing pockets of sushi on the menu in my opinion. read more

Honest opinion, really yummy, but way too pricey for the quantity. I would probably never come here again, because you essentially get half a sushirito for the price of a sushirito if you went elsewhere. The only difference is that they call it a pocket sushi instead of "half a sushirito". When we both finished our pocket sushi, we were still hungry. We ended up going somewhere else to buy more food. That was after spending $27.50 here. The variety of options looked great though, we got the: - Lion king - Nice and warm, filled with cooked salmon essentially a lion king roll stuff into a little pocket. The flavor was good, and they added a lot of sauce. So there was plenty of flavor to it. - Poketmon - Very fresh, and delicious. If you want a fresh pocket sushi this would be a great choice. For two pocket sushi's, we paid $27.50. If you're an adult, order two if you want to be full. Or if you're here for just a snack, one will do. Honestly wish this place had bigger portions, or we'd come back. We have another place that we love. With a nice big sushirito for the same price. read more
