5 stars for Brian the driver and pod deliverer!! He was patient, courteous and did an amazing job delivering our POD to an alley access parking pad! It took him time to maneuver the 8' POD, I would call it tedious, but he did a great job! I'm not as complimentary to the customer service people that answer the calls, they should have given more details and been able to answer my questions. I found their input very limited. read more

1 Star - Truly the Worst Service I've Experienced If I Could Give Zero, I Would! PODS turned an already stressful move into a full nightmare. When I placed my order, the rep reviewed photos of my driveway, took measurements, and assured me the container would fit exactly where I needed it. On delivery day, the driver struggled, ignored my placement request, and left the POD positioned so poorly that I couldn't even close or secure my gate. I called immediately and was told they would reposition the POD and waive all fees. When the driver came back, he was rude, unprofessional, and refused to place it correctly or take the time to turn it around. Then I was charged for the very service they promised would be free. When I reached out again to have the POD picked up due to the ongoing issues, the manager told me there was nothing they could do--no refund, no dispute, even though I couldn't use the container for the month I paid for. DO NOT EXPECT PODS TO TREAT ITS CUSTOMERS FAIRLY. We ordered an 8' x 8' POD to temporarily hold furniture while we were refinishing the floors in our home. We had the required space in our backyard. However, when the delivery showed up on April 1, the driver was unable to get the correct angle to drop off the POD in the yard, and instead left it in the alley behind our home. Because we did not have city approval to keep the POD there, we were unable to use it and called on April 3 to have the POD picked up. A POD driver picked it up on April 6. The charge for this was $470.16. A POD representative stated on May 14 that PODS would refund the monthly charge ($182.10), which was some consolation, but it is now June 1 and they are refusing to do even that. We just want everyone to be cautious when dealing with this company and know that they do not treat their customers with fairness and common sense. read more

Outrageous Fees!!!! You think to yourself WOW how convenient that I have a moving container that sits here at my home and I can fill it up at my leisure. Plus I was told it's no charge to have them drop it off and pick it up. Now their monthly prices, are kind of steep. Paying for the container and where they store it for a 16 footer it was $279.a month. Fast-forward it's a year later I am moving, my Pod has been stored at their hub in Santa Ana and I need it to be delivered to San Diego 118 miles. That is considered long distance. The day I call to request my property delivered they have some type of technical issue and the representative cannot give me any information but he guaranteed that the order will go through. A couple days after that I get a notification through the app or my email saying I owed $169.75 I'm thinking to myself for what. I called, a lady explained to me that there is a transition fee to get your POD from LA to San Diego. I said OK sure. Then maybe a week later I receive an email notification telling me I was PAST DUE on paying fees of $649.60. Now remind you when I called and paid $179 she said OK you're all set and at that time on the app I was paid up no other fees were due. So here I am a little over two weeks out for my pod to be delivered and I receive an email while I'm packing up my house that I am past due in CAPS. I was never late on a payment and all of a sudden, please call our collections department, well now I am irritated. So I called spoke to a gentleman. I explained to him that a week ago I was in good standing and that the transition fee had been paid. He proceeds to tell me that well your move is long distance and we have to use a larger truck, moving your container from LA to San Diego. It'll have to be stored at another facility and the distance is 118 miles. If I didn't have family memorabilia in there, that POD would not have gotten delivered. Now I have my belongings it is June 11 and I see a charge come in from Pods for $179. I called them and they tell me it's a re-delivery fee for the Pod to be delivered to my new address. Payments: 5.15 - $279.25 monthly 5.18 - $169.75 transition fee 5.30 - $649.60 over 50 miles larger truck (it was the same truck they used when they dropped the container off when it was empty ) 6.4 - Pod dropped off 6.6 - Pod picked up 6.11 - $179 re- delivery fee of container Totaling: $1277.60 ( keep in mind this isn't including the cost I needed to pay for movers to help unload the Pod.) Note: May 15 I paid for a month but I was never credited the difference since I did not have the container for a month. My suggestion to those who insist on using PODS INITIALLY, THEY GET YOU WITH no cost to drop off and pick up, but when it's time to receive your items, you definitely want to call them to get a price breakdown. Make sure to tell them do not move that pod until you have all that information so that you can make a sound decision whether or not you want to go and retrieve your items yourself or proceed to have them drop it off. I have never in my adult life paid over $1000 to move within the state of California and I have moved a lot. In my opinion, their fees are ridiculous. I even spoke to the gentleman's supervisor who knows nothing about customer service. Let me state this, a year ago when they came and retrieved the POD from my house I thought I was moving out of state and for that those fees make sense. AND DEFINITELY CALL TO ARRANGE YOUR DROP OFF 3 TO 4 WEEKS IN ADVANCE OF YOUR MOVE-IN DATE. I tried numerous times to get a quote for my move, yet they force you to call before they will give you anything. I would absolutely recommend PODS. I love the fact that they come to you and allow you to keep the pod in place in need be. Martin Thomas both delivered our POD and picked it up today. He's a rockstar. Very proficient at working the truck and machine that drops off and picks up the POD. Once again PODS you've come to the rescue! After contacting nearly every moving company to move me and my husband from Napa to San Diego, it finally dawned on me. Who come through when we moved from Las Vegas to Napa? PODS! Geez! How could have I forgotten (maybe because 8 years had passed and too many bottles of wine to count, lol)?! Great customer service, on time delivery, pick and delivery again, plus service with a smile. Yep, that's PODS! The process is super easy! Go online, fill out a form, contact details, credit card etc. From there someone from reservations will call you shortly. My call came within a few minutes, confirmed all the details and was set. From there everything was handled through the customer portal. I mean it was so easy and it all went off without a hitch. My pod was delivered and picked up exactly as scheduled. Then once we got to San Diego, closed on our new place, our pod was delivered on time and picked up the same day (we live downtown so we only had a few hours to unload in front of our building). I had packed our pod really well so not a single item was broken or damaged. Also, their delivery/pick up guys were amazing! They used a machine called PODZilla to move the pods into place (see video). We had some power lines, the guy was like a brain surgeon. He maneuvered with such skill and accuracy, very cool to watch albeit nail biting. Nailed it! Military and federal employees beware! I am an Army veteran who was recently employed by the Defense Health Agency as a physician assistant, so I had to move from New York to Hawaii. I have used U-Haul moving containers in the past and had a great experience, but decided to consider PODS for this voyage as it was bit more affordable. Before committing to signing the contract, my girlfriend who made the arrangements, explained to the PODS representative that we were going to spend a couple of months in San Diego prior to flying to Hawaii. She made it clear that we would require access to our container in San Diego, and asked what was the most affordable course of action. The PODS representative responded that they could send the container from New York to Hawaii for a little over $7000, with storage in San Diego with a monthly fee of $500 until we decided to fly out to our final destination. The representative went on to say that we only needed to call them 48 hours in advance to have access the container in San Diego. This was the deciding factor to choose PODS over its competitors as it covered all of our needs for an acceptable price, so we agreed to sign a contract stating that our possessions would be moved from New York to Honolulu as the final destination. Four weeks ago, I requested the container to be transported to Hawaii and the new PODS representative told me that I would have to pay an additional $4000 if I wanted my belonging to be transported to the final destination of Honolulu. I explained the situation and the representative stated that the system made a mistake and changed the contract every time I requested access to it. He went on to say that he would open a pricing dispute, and that somebody from their staff would contact me within the next couple of days to resolve the issue. Five days later a miss Jaerren Harvey identifying herself as the PODS customer advocacy specialist sent an email stating that she tried to contacting us with no luck, and that the case was closed until we contacted her to re-open it. Since then, I have called her direct line (which she never answers) and have left multiple voicemails and emails over the course of 3 weeks but she has yet to respond by any media. Every time I call her and leave her a voicemail I also try my luck with PODS customer service only to have to explain the situation again and for them to tell me there is nothing they can do so keep trying to reach Miss Harvey. The last PODS representative I spoke with told me that they assigned another person to the case, and to wait for that person to reach out. It has been a week and I have yet to receive a call from anybody, but sure enough it is time to pay the $500 monthly fee. All I want is for PODS honor the original contract and for them to stop holding my belongings for ransom (especially after I have paid PODS somewhere in the vicinity of $8000 already). I have been in Hawaii for 3 weeks living out of my suitcase, and I am about to start my new job in a couple of weeks. I'm going to have to buy new uniforms and equipment to start working, as I doubt the container will make it in time even if I decided to pay their ridiculous extra fee. I was in desperate need of storage after I had a slab leak at my house. I looked online for container storage to be delivered to my house within a few days. The ONLY service available was PODS. They aren't the cheapest but if you're in a pinch and need a container quick this should be your go to place. Getting a quote and scheduling a container delivery is all done online. You type in your zip code and email and date of delivery and then choose the size of the container you want. Then book. Simple as that. Other providers can do cheaper monthly rentals but they need 1-3 month notice. NO OTHER SERVICE can drop a storage container on your driveway the next day like PODS can. The actual containers are really nice. They are fully enclosed with a full face roll up door. In the ordering module they ask how you want the pod oriented prior to delivery. The top is made of a white heavy duty plastic that allows the container to be lit by sunlight. The sides are constructed of the same material. The material is sturdy and resists breaking. Inside there are hooks and loops so you can secure your belongings quite easily. When done just go online and schedule a pickup. I wasn't even there for it and it was handled no problem and all done within the appointment window. Overall great service, good product and awesome employees. Price could be better but you definitely get what you pay for here. read more

I asked the agent on the phone to speak with a supervisor, he had me on hold for 5 minutes and then came back and told me "what the supervisor said" that they can't come out until May 3rd. I thought PODS was the way to go... until today. 6.5 months ago I had a POD delivered and filled it about 1/3 for storage while I waited for my new build out of state to be completed. The same POD was supposed to be delivered this morning so I could finish loading it and then meet it at my new house next week. Except it wasn't dropped off. Instead I received a call saying that it would be impossible to deliver to my current address and I needed to come unload it at their facility and find an alternate moving solution!! After explaining to the rep that it was deleivered to this same address 6 months ago without issue, I was told that they may try to redeliver it and she would call me back. After several hours I called in to confirm what time I should expect them and was informed that I would get a call back in 24-48 hours with their decision. I had professional loaders hired for tomorrow that I had to cancel and my flight out of state leaves Sunday morning. I checked my cameras and don't think they even tried to deliver it today as there is no record of them driving past my house. Once I was able to find a local number they were able to move a few things around and get my pod delivered before my movers arrived. They were very flexible, accommodating, and easy to communicate with. It's unfortunate that pods as a larger company gate keeps the local companies information because the local company was great the larger corporation is trash. Well I wish I read the reviews here before booking. Issue 1: I booked my POD to be delivered on a Friday and picked up Monday. I was called Thursday afternoon and told that I couldn't leave the POD on the street overnight. Because of this they were going to drop off Saturday and pick up Saturday. My movers were scheduled for Sunday so I had to switch days at the last moment. Thankfully my movers were excellent and made it work. My issue is that my neighbor also had a pod delivered on Saturday and he kept his for DAYS. WTF???? I jumped through hoops to switch days and clearly it was not necessary. Issue 2: I needed to confirm with my movers delivery time for them to unpack so I called PODS and asked for my delivery window for the following day and they said, 730 - 1030. Great I confirmed with my movers only to get a notification at 6:00 pm the night before delivery that my window is between 1-4. WTF. I called the 877 line which is a useless call center and they refuse to give local contact information. So new I am screwed. My movers arrive at 1030 am and they are paid hourly so I will be out hundreds of dollars because of PODS. Terrible terrible terrible. Worst moving experience of my life. I placed an order for a POD, then canceled. The day that I called them to cancel, the employee said the charge would not be made. It has now been seven days since they charged my card nearly $500. I do not have their pod, nor do I want one. I'm still waiting for a refund on equipment I NEVER RENTED. All I get is excuse after excuse and no real explanation. They blame my bank. My bank says PODS haven't done A DAMN THING. When I called the other day the employee laughed in my face and stated that refund will be processed in 24 hours. That was 4 days ago! Do not use this company. They are not forthcoming on the laws regarding POD placement on the street (illegal unless you obtain a permit). We booked pods for a cross country move and are highly disappointed with how our situation was handled. Knowing we have a steep driveway, during the booking process we asked the rep to pull up our house on google maps to make sure we would be eligible for the service. The rep looked at multiple views of our house and said the drivers would have no problem at all delivering to our house since the driveway entrance is steep but the actual driveway is flat. With that confirmation we booked two pods. On delivery day the driver got there and simply refused to deliver our pods. He stated that he didn't think he would be able to get the pods out once we loaded them. We had moving trucks and deliveries in and out of our driveway with no problem (including the pod driver who was able to drive in and out of our driveway that day). The driver left without leaving the pods . After about two hours on the phone with pods they really offered nothing to make up for their miss. If the rep hadn't confirmed multiple times that our driveway would be no problem maybe I would understand but instead we were stuck with wasted time and money. Pod delivery was great, but don't use any other outside services. Terrible customer service. I had an issue with Pod Storage Boxes delivery. I didn't receive my boxes, and it was very difficult to get in contact with customer service to get resolved. Once I did get in contact they told me it wasn't there issue once packages had been shipped via Fed-x. I tried to get the issue resolved with Fed-x and they told me the address was incorrect and could not help me. Poorly run organization. I do not recommend PODs to anyone. My order was cancelled less than 24 hours before my scheduled pod delivery. I was out of luck for the day I had planned to pack. A voice mail was left and I immediately called back and was told that the order was cancelled, without even consulting with me. Hello everyone, my wife and I are asking for you to send out a warning to your friends. If your planning to move we do not recommend "Pods". This company has poor customer service. When you place a call, you'll be waiting for hours for them to return the call. Their sales personnel will lie to you , we were told that they could deliver our Pods to anywhere we lived in Tennessee and that is not true. They have limited service areas that they will deliver, you're on your own. They will not deliver what is promised, and they will not offer refunds. I've read from others that they will hold your pod storage unit and will delay delivery dates to increase storage prices. They won't follow their own contract. I tried to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I found out the hard way, they're not even registered with them. read more

They cancelled our access to our pods not once but twice. Like our car was loaded and they called morning of and said we couldn't put stuff in. Every other pod place has a 24 hour notice policy. This one has 48 but no one ever tells you that. The drivers are beyond rude and focused on explaining why they don't want to do their job rather than how to problem solve. We literally saved the exact space the driver who previously came told us to and the next driver said he he could not make it work. He would not stop talking to give us time to make more room. He said the same thing five times over and over and took fifteen minutes saying the same thing about how much space he needs and how the truck turns etc even though we told him we understood multiple times. when we asked if we could go talk to neighbors for two minutes, he suddenly did not have any time to wait and got in his truck and drove off while I was crying and begging him for just a couple of minutes to ask our neighbors to move a car. I had explained that we've been waiting months to be in our house. That we had movers coming in an hour. He had zero empathy. He had zero willingness to help us find a solution. He had zero willingness to try what the previous pod driver told us would work. There were zero pleasantries or friendliness. A "Hello, I'm ______, how are you doing this morning," Or "I know this is hard and frustrating for you," or "I wish we could make it work and I'll help get this pod back as soon as possible." Anything nice or friendly would have meant so much in the real moment of desperation that we were having. but no. Nothing. We Just got rudeness, long winded mans-planning, and negativity. We have had three different drivers come out. They've all just started barking negativity without an introductions the second they arrived. One guy might be out of the norm...three is a company failure in training. They really need some corporate training on people skills. People like him that show a basic lack of humanity in this way really lead one to feel discouraged about the future of our society. We used to be huge pods fans. We've used pods in other cities. Austin was great! Chicago was great! Heck, My father in law was a Vice President of franchising at Pods corporate in Tampa for over a decade. Worst experience with a company I have ever had in my life. They brought us the wrong container and double charged us for delivery. The container had a broken roof (right before rainy season) and graffiti all over it. We called to fix the double shipping charge and they didn't fix it. Then when we called back they said we never called. Scheduled a pickup shortly before the next month of service then called a few days prior to confirm (since they never sent a confirmation). They said we never called and that we had to pay for another month of service. Hands down the worst company I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. Customer service is horrible and yells at you when you don't agree with everything they say. Please please please stay away. If you don't believe my review look them up in consumer affairs. Pods drivers broke my gate and damaged a retaining wall. I reported this immediately. I have since been dealing with a specialist for two months named LH. She is extremely rude, and demanding. She has demanded two quotes for repair- yes two. As a homeowner who travels frequently this takes time and lo and behold she has just emailed me stating "it's unusual that I couldn't get this done sooner". Lock your cards!! I've used PODS before and have not had a billing issue ever. Now in the span of three days I've been charged random amounts of close to over $2500!! "They are aware of billing issue due to a new system" which also Has them and myself locked out of my account, but somehow magically it's not locked out of billing my card everyday. Good luck getting any supervisor to help. They don't have ANY direct numbers and I've spent over three hours on average everyday being bounced around. What the hell is going on? Today I was now told it's an IT issue. I don't know of ANY business that's allowed to charge your account everyday for hundreds of dollars without consent and for services they are NOT providing. BBB here I come. Also, seriously looking into a lawyer at this point because I have never had ANY business use this "it's glitch" as an excuse for STEALING my money. I just had an incredible experience today with their PODS delivery guy "Willy" the superhuman PODSZilla operator! When he first arrived, I had asked if he could drop it off over some rather large boulders on the side of our street. He said he needed more space to maneuver, so we decided a neighbor's parking spot would be ideal but the PODS container needed to face towards our house. I ran over to my neighbors and got permission to put the container in their parking spot. Willy then backed up his truck, then proceeded to maneuver the container around right into the parking spot. Bad Experience with pods, the storage location of my pod was 40 miles away from my new home, when I called to have it delivered they said it was over 60 miles away and that would have to charge extra to move it to a closer storage location and then to my home, I've spent $600 more because your computer system screws people over. Where do I start... I had a pod delivered and found it had a 5 foot long gash on the side that went clear through to the inside of the container. The only thing they were willing to do is replace it on Monday, two days later and the day after I had to be out of my home. There is no one to speak to that doesn't work at the call center and asking to speak to a supervisor results in a very long hold only to be told there is nothing they can do. They won't make any accommodations or even try to help find a solution. I ended up having to run out and rent a storage unit and a truck resulting in extra expenses over $400 on top of what I paid for the pod. It's unfortunate that no effort was made to address their mistake. I asked if I could load the pod, have it moved to my son's home then transfer the items from the damaged pod to an undamaged one. They wanted to charge me close to $100 just to move the pod. Three days later and I still can't get a refund. I was supposedly transferred to a team that specializes in addressing customer concerns. Again I asked for a supervisor and was placed on hold for 10 minutes. The associate came back on the line and said they shared my concern with the supervisor and the supervisor could do no more then the representative on the phone. The call back time for an escalated call is 3 to 5 days...seems like a long time. (TL;DR AT THE BOTTOM) Based on the reviews here, I must have gotten lucky to have had a great experience. My husband and I reserved a pod for our move from San Diego to Oregon and only had very minor issues (the person he spoke with to reserve spoke English as her second language so there was some miscommunication), but that was it. Let me tell you that I was very nervous about the whole thing because of the reviews that I failed to check before making our reservation. We decided to take our chances because PODS seemed the most convenient. I'm unsure if they hired new and more competent people, but all was well! Yes, it was a bit pricey at a little less than $2,000 for the whole thing, but we were essentially stress-free moving from on state to another. I'll go ahead and break down the process for anyone hesitant about using PODS: PHASE 1 - Billy called us 20-30 minutes prior to the drop off to let us know he was on the way and to clarify where to drop the pod off. We had a driveway and he was an absolute expert at maneuvering the pod and the mechanism it was hooked to. It was fun to watch! He was friendly, we chatted, he dropped it off, and he was on his way! PHASE 2 - With the pod in our driveway on a Friday, we took the whole weekend to load up and make sure everything was nice and secure. The pod was very sturdy and had some metal loops to help tie things down. We had the smallest pod (8x8x8?) and we were able to fit my classroom and items for a small apartment. Also keep in mind though we sold all our big furniture other than our full size Ikea bed frame + mattress which fit. PHASE 3 - We left for Oregon on a Monday and kept the pod in the driveway. They gave us a 2 hour pickup window and stuck to it! The pod stayed in their storage facility for a few days - this part you also have to pay for. I called because I wanted to tell them I didn't need them to store it, but the SWEETEST person (shoutout to VALENTINA) let me know nicely that they store it so that they can transfer it between trucks and drivers. Okay makes sense. PHASE 4 - Here we are in Oregon and we get another heads up call to let us know the pod was being delivered. We had a parking lot for our apartment complex and the landlord would have had to go through some complex hoops to get the pod dropped off in the lot so my husband called PODS and asked what other options we had for drop off. She was really nice and looked up our street and saw that we could drop it off by the curb without getting cited. Nice! Let the unloading begin! PHASE 5 - The delivery driver picked up the pod (don't forget to remove your lock - we forgot and there was a some shuffling because I was at the gym and my husband had his hands full when the driver called and said he was at the front and needed us to remove the lock. Perhaps he could have called in advance like the other driver or maybe it didn't make sense and we should have known. It worked out) PHASE 6 - done. tl;dr everything worked out smoothly from start to finish and everyone from those on the phone to the drivers were very professional and efficient. We had the worst experience with PODS. I would highly recommend using any other service. We found out the day of our move in that they wouldn't deliver to our house due to access. A regular storage space is $150 and we were paying $450/month for this delivery...really the only reason you would use PODS. We ended up having to pickup all our items the following week from their main headquarters. We lost a deposit on the movers ($250) from the following week. To top it off, PODS charged us an extra 30 day rental and the delivery charge...$450 + $160. They said they do not prorate and would not accept any responsibility for us having the container there an extra 5 days. After many phone calls and them attempting to report us to the a 3rd party creditor agency, we continue to battle them. They are a terrible company. Their staff is poorly trained and their customer service is awful. Steer clean if you like your credit. If your current or new home doesn't have a driveway, is in a condo complex or something else that may pose difficulty parking, do not use them and get a cheap storage space. Guess who just found out from her POD driver that they can't deliver to the street exactly 1 hour before the estimated arrival time? Guess who now has to hire a truck and moving people to get her stuff FROM the storage facility anyway (completely antithetical to my wanting this service in the first place) because 2 customer service reps who assured her that street parking of the POD was 100% acceptable in San Diego were LIARS!!! If you guessed "you", you, dear reader, are correct! I was on the phone with two separate customer service representatives whom I asked about this exact situation. "Can you park the POD on the street if I can't secure 3 consecutive parking spaces?" I received a "yes", each time. In my account, when I selected the "street/alley" placement option for a "non-gated community" "apartment complex", no warning came up like the third representative kept trying to tell me was the case. If such a warning had come up, I would have seen it one of the first 5 times I logged in to check. This is such a big problem that needs to be addressed immediately on the backend or whatever. If there are prohibitions like this, the customer should be aware prior to order. If I had known that they could not, under any circumstances, park the POD on the street, I would honestly have gone with an entirely DIFFERENT service. I spent $400 on the first month + delivery, $150 for movers to pack the pod, $300 for the second month, and was almost charged $100 for the failed re-delivery. The only reason I didn't get charged for the re-delivery that my driver was kind enough to tell me that this isn't the first time this has happened and that it was the responsibility of whoever I talked to on the phone to warn me. This kind of disorganization can be interpreted as outright dishonesty and has been a huge headache. Now I'll have to hire a full truck and movers to pick up my stuff from the storage facility and bring it back to my apartment. DO NOT go with PODs for your moving needs if you can help it. MILITARY: DO NOT USE I agree with 99% of all other 1 star reviews, and will keep this simple: This company simply does not deliver the product that they advertise. In my particular case, they will not move a POD from San Diego to Yuma, however, they will deliver to Phoenix...which is on the way from San Diego to Phoenix via the most direct route. Customer service is unusable and unsupportive. Find additional storage solutions. They are also significantly more expensive than alternatives. Their only convenience, after they finally deliver the POD to your residence, is the convenience of loading directly...then you will be inconvenienced again as you schedule the pick-up, and it's like waiting for the cable guy, "we'll be there between the hours of 8am to 8pm." Go elsewhere and save yourself the stress and time of dealing with this company. read more
