I did not know there was still ones open! What an amazing time. My cousin had the funeral burial meal here with family and friends. The staff took care of us in an area to the side and brough that food out fast as a sap tree that just got tapped. The food was amazing... the fried chicken was so juicy. Here lately it seems to be a lot of simple mess ups. If Im spending 30 $ per order once a week is ould like it correct. Twice was the drink it wasn't delivered, Twice again it happened with the dessert no ice cream with the short cake or peach cobbler. Fresh Fried Mushrooms with horseradish sauce that was as good as any fine dining restaurant .. Pork Chops were good . I being a pork chop snob you really have to be bad for me to complain . This location is a good one with a clean country feel to it. Lunch ended up being later than advertised in their menu, so that worked out. I was a little disappointed that the cheese on the broccoli is canned processed cheese instead of real cheese, but the grilled chicken breast was delicious. She remembers my order every time and she's definitely a favorite amongst the customers. Food is simple, delicious and filling. There is pretty much something for everyone on this menu, and prices are more than reasonable. I would give them six stars for our most recent visit if I could because our lovely server ran out to us in the pouring rain because my little boy left his stuffed tiger at the table. Only thing was we had to wait to check out since there wasn't anyone out there. Maybe have a bell ringer to alert people? I get we were one of the last there but we didn't want to keep holding people up. On to food! The gizzards were tender and great! A good amount of it too. The sauce it came with tasted great. Mayo and something else? Couldn't put my finger on it. The Mac was okay. The apple sauce was nice but not for me. The fried chicken was good. We remember Po Folks from back in the day and have fond memories, so we were excited to see one still open in St Pete. It's been quite a few years, but the food is still good! The fried catfish is phenomenal: the fish was very tender, very fresh. And I just love their sides, esp the greens. So delicious! My only complaint is we tried their meatloaf for the first time and it was a little disappointing: the chef cut two very thin slivers (end pieces) and they were a little dry. Other than that everything was delicious! Our server Stella was very pleasant and overall we enjoyed our dinner. The restaurant had its hey day during the 80s and the decor inside this one reminds me of the late 80s or early 90s. We had Po Folks in my city when I was young but I don't remember ever dining there. Today we decided to try it and it's really good. All of the food was served right after it was made so it was hot and fresh. We tried fried pickles $5.99, Kuntry Fried Steak with 2 steaks, 2 sides and a breadstick $10.99 and a kids kuntry fried steak $3.99, and grilled haddock with two sides and hush puppies $9.49. Sides we chose were green beans, baked beans, fries and corn on the cob. The kuntry fried steaks were served with cream gravy on the side and they were tasty. The grilled haddock was a good size and tasty. The sides were just ok, not bad though. The breadstick and hush puppies were really tasty. The restaurant is pretty large and country themed. The staff is friendly and our server was Ellen and she was friendly and as attentive as we needed. This was a good choice for a country home cooking type lunch. read more
